Ny på jobbet? : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om nyanställdas upplevelse av socialisation inom den privata sektorn

Bavey, Jasemin January 2021 (has links)
Starting a new job can be experienced as a challenging since emotions such as joy and anticipation can occur, but also insecurity and stress. There are several factors that affect the experience for the newly hired employee because organizations work differently with introductory programs, which in turn has an impact on the new employee's opportunity for organizational socialization. Since all new employees go through a period of creating an understanding of the norms that prevail within the organization and its culture, which includes organizational socialization, the purpose of the study was to, through semi-structured interviews, examine how socialization is experienced for new employees within the private sector. Through semi-structured interviews, the material has been processed thematically and analyzed based on organizational socialization and The Uncertainty Reduction Theory. The results showed that new employees have a need for both a clear and structured introduction plan in the workplace but also access to an inclusive work community where social interactions with supervisors, colleagues and other employees are significant in new hires. The study shows that new employees in the private sector have different experiences about the organization's way of meeting the needs of new employees before the roles that would be taken and the tasks that would be handled. They felt that other factors such as social meetings, relationships, and community beneficial to get into the organization and be involved in the work. The respondents experienced that with a clear planning in combination with a supervisor in the organization who was available during the first period of the new employment, a security and safety was created which in turn reduced the degree of initial uncertainty. Finally, the results presented the value of the social community in the form of social integration in the workplace where role clarity was achieved through organizational socialization.

The transition of learners from Grade R to Grade 1 in Mutshundudi Circuit, Vhembe District

Maphiri, Tshililo Hazel 18 May 2018 (has links)
M.Ed (Curriculum Studies) / Department of Curriculum Studies / The transition of learners from Grade R to Grade 1 in a formal school is a significant stage. The purpose of the study was to investigate the transition of learners from Grade R to Grade 1 in Mutshindudi Circuit, Vhembe District. The researcher used qualitative method to conduct the study in order to get in-depth information to improve the teaching and learning of children in transition. It was a case study of one school where three Grade R and three Grade 1 teachers were selected. Individual interview and observation schedules were used to collect information from the informants during class visits. Learners were observed during teaching and learning in the classroom to see how teachers facilitate the transition between two grades The population of this study comprised with six teachers, three from Grade R and three from Grade 1. Purposive sampling of three Grade R and three Grade 1 teachers was based on the teachers’ knowledge and experience in these Grades. The findings revealed that Grade 1 teachers expected Grade R learners to know how to read and write. Teachers had experienced transition problems as the policy stipulates that all Grade R learners should progress from Grade R to Grade 1. Teachers should be inducted on how to assist learners to transit from Grade R to Grade 1 / NRF

Hydraulic Hybrid Excavator: Layout Definition, Experimental Activity, Mathematical Model Validation and Fuel Consumption Evaluation

Casoli, Paolo, Riccò, Luca, Campanini, Federico, Lettini, Antonio, Dolcin, Cesare January 2016 (has links)
Energy saving and fuel consumption reduction techniques are among the principal interests for both academic institutions and industries, in particular, system optimization and hybridization. This paper presents a new hydraulic hybrid system layout for mobile machinery implemented on a middle size excavator. The hybridization procedure took advantage of a dynamic programming (DP) algorithm, which was also utilized for the hybrid components dimensioning and control strategy definition. A dedicated experimental activity on test bench was performed on the main components of the energy recovery system (ERS). The JCMAS working cycle was considered as the reference test for a fuel consumption comparison between the standard and the hybrid excavator. A fuel saving up to 8% on the JCMAS cycle, and up to 11% during the digging cycle, has been allowed by the proposed hybrid system.

A comparative study of the seed bank dynamics of two congeneric alien invasive species

Holmes, P M January 1989 (has links)
Includes bibliographies. / The unique vegetation in the lowlands of the fynbos biome is threatened by alien Acacia encroachment. The seed bank dynamics of the two most widespread invaders in the region, Acacia saligma and A. cyclops, was studied to elucidate those factors contributing most to their invasive success. This information was then used to assist in developing optimal control methods. On the basis of information available prior to this study, it was predicted that both species would have large, persistent seed banks in the so.il, and that seed bank processes would provide the - key to invasive success: namely, high seed longevity and heat-stimulated germination. Seed banks were monitored for several years following clearing of the parent stand, using either sites sampled in an earlier study, or sites providing chronosequences of clearing dates. Concurrently, a demographic study of the species' seed banks, including processes from seed rain through to seedling emergence and survival, was done in dense Acacia stands and in fynbos vegetation. Acacia saligma seed banks conformed to predictions, being large and persistent owing to high percentage viability and water-impermeable dormancy. Seed banks accumulate rapidly under dense stands and are "disturbance-coupled" as they have potentially high longevity unless stimulated to germinate by fire. Although A. cyclops seed banks also may be large and long-lived, they display variable percentage viability and dormancy, with the majority of a seed cohort surviving less than a year. Acacia cyclops seed banks do not respond to heat treatment and appear to be "disturbance-uncoupled".
