There is evidence that regular physical activity enhances memory, decreases plasma and hippocampal oxidative stress, and anxiety in senescence. In this work, 40 rats (Rattus norvegicus albinus, Wistar), 13 months old at the start of the experiment, were divided into four groups: one control group (CG) and three treatment groups (GT1, GT2 and GT3), 10 animals in each group. The control group was kept under observation only. In the treatment groups, physical and memory exercises were applied, and to GT1, only memory exercises; to GT2 climbing stairs, and to GT3 both exercises. Animals that underwent ladder climbing three times a week for three consecutive months and memory tests showed better performance in short and long term memory and habituation as well as lower anxiety in the open field test. The low concentration of malonaldehyde (MDA), the balance of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the increase in total antioxidant capacity (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power - FRAP) were observed in the plasma and hippocampal samples of rats submitted to treatments. Regular exercise practice associated with memory exercises improved mnemonic abilities, decreased oxidative stress and anxiety of rats in senescence.

Model Driven Architecture in Adaptive Library Generation

Jimenez Moral, Inmaculada, De Arcayne Mañá, Joan January 2008 (has links)
This master thesis is about building an adaptive library based on a platform independent model, which represents a conceptual design realizing the functional requirements being independent of the technologies and software architectures changes. This adaptive library is a model, which has a higher level of abstraction than the code that we will generate afterwards, generalizes the solution of those problems that can be resolved using different implementations that uses different kinds of data structures. In addition the higher level of abstraction that this adaptive library is having will give a speed up in developing the application and higher quality solution because of the maintainability and reusability. This solution is going to have the propriety to be changed easily in order to solve different concrete problems.

Combining Discrete and Continuous Domains for SysML-Based Simulation and Test Generation / Unification des ensembles discrets et continus pour la simulation et la génération de tests à partir de modèles sysML

Gauthier, Jean-Marie 19 November 2015 (has links)
The research conducted during this thesis fall within the scope of modeling, verification and validation of critical and complex systems. This work aims to bridge the gap between the abstract high-level models, starting point of the MBSE process (Model-Based Systems Engineering), and real-time simulation keystone of In-the-Loop processes. In this context, we propose to unify, within a SysML model, continuous aspects of a system, to automatically generate an executable Modelica model (simulation), and discrete aspects allowing animation and test generation by constraint solvers. The work done during this thesis allowed the study and the realization of an original tooled approach to simulate and test such systems from SysML models within a In-the-Loop context. This approach has been validated by two concrete case studies from research partners. The first, from the ANR Smart Blocks project, allowed us to assess the relevance of the proposed SysML modeling methodology in order to perform contact less conveyor simulations. The second case study, from the GEOSEFA Regional project has allowed us to validate the overall approach (simulation and testing) in a In-the-Loop context. It covers the design and the validation of a new energy hybrid system embedded in a helicopter.

Herzberg's Motivation Factors in A Gamification Environment : How motivational factors may be applied to game design in order to describe the experience of a serious game

Dahlberg, Rikard January 2015 (has links)
This paper is aimed to analyze how the Motivators in Herzberg's Two-Factor theory can be applied to a game design framework, namely the MDA-framework. This is done by evaluating a feature called Detailed Feedback System which is a gamification layer aimed towards evaluating photos from predetermined categories. The evaluation is done by letting participants use the Detailed Feedback System, and later letting them participate in an online survey on how it felt to use the feature. In this paper Self-Determination Theory and the Likert-scale is used in order to find a variance in their answers. This is later explored in a comparison matrix exploring which aspects of each theoretical framework may be the most prominent. The results are also analyzed to find variance in the final result, in order to find how significant the variance is in motivation and enjoyment, and why I conclude these findings to be positive.

Transformace konceptuálních modelů do realizace informačního systému / Transformation of conceptual models into the information systems implementation

Vagner, Vlastimil January 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with the linkages between data models from conceptual models to physical design of information bases, used for implementation. The aim is to analyze the modern approach to design systems and specify how detailed the conceptual modeling and impact on the quality of the final form of application or system, including processes that take place in advance to the next level of design. Approximated the techniques the transition between these levels and will take into account structural features and limitations of selected platforms and requirements for their design and mutual coherence level view of the system. For the purpose of the thesis the well known data modeling methods are being analyzed together with their applicabilities.

Evoluce a integrace XML formátů / XML Formats Evolution and Integration

Klímek, Jakub January 2013 (has links)
In the past decade XML became a wide-spread information exchange data model. Many XML users have many XML formats described by XML schemas. To ease the management of multiple XML schemas modeling similar reality, the conceptual model for XML was defined. With its definition came various challenges that needed to be further researched. This thesis focuses on two of those challenges. The first challenge is to manage the evolution of the multi-level conceptual model as the modeled reality, XML schemas and applications evolve in time. The second challenge is to allow the majority of users who already use XML schemas in their system without the conceptual model to use their schemas to semi-automatically create one. In addition a step towards integration of the conceptual modeling of XML and semantic web techniques was taken.
