CAN THE IMPLIED ARCHETYPES MOVEMENT AFFECT HOW THE PLAYER INTERACTS WITH THE GAME WORLD? : How animation can mediate the players disposition.

Adolfsson, Anders January 2018 (has links)

Inventores de asas, arquitetos de labirintos: Raduan Nassar, Guimarães Rosa e a Estética da Recepção / Inventors of wings, architects of labyrinths:Raduan Nassar, Guimarães Rosa and the aesthetic effect of reception

Alexandre de Amorim Oliveira 30 April 2009 (has links)
This work aims at analyzing Grande Sertão: Veredas, by João Guimarães Rosa and Lavoura Arcaica, by Raduan Nassar, two authors aware of their texts being open to different interpretations. The continuous presentations of new interpretations of their books are translated in the recreation of many different realities, as if one enters a labyrinth while it is being expanded. Mimesis occurs as a process of building of a labyrinth, and the directions of this labyrinth are unpredictable. This event can only be analyzed happen if the aesthetic effect of reception proposed by Hans Roberto Jauss is identified as an occurence. An understanding of the literary work connected to the aesthetic background of the reader, which can also be expanded through the interaction between the text and the reader. Thus, the labyrinth is also built by the reader, and interpretation becomes an eternal devenir through this interaction

Le récit comme médiation : Etude de la théorie du récit de Paul Ricoeur / Narrative as Mediation : A Study of Paul Ricoeur’s Narrative Theory

Liu, Huiming 06 December 2011 (has links)
This goal of this thesis is to investigate Ricoeur’s narrative theory as a whole. It has respectively the following four sets of questions as its research tasks. Firstly, what are the connotations of the notion of “narrative” in Ricoeur’s works? Secondly, what are the major problematics and features of Ricoeur’s narrative theory studies? Thirdly, if we consider “mediation” as its most outstanding characteristic, then shall we also define “mediation” regarding its function mechanism and theoretical foundation? At last, what role does narrative theory play in Ricoeur’s system of hermeneutic thoughts? This thesis attempts to answer the above-listed questions with the methodology of comprehensive, qualitative analysis that scrutinizes specific texts and keywords in a comparative perspective based on the hermeneutic analytical resources. This thesis consists of four parts. Chapter 1 discusses Ricoeur’s theory of discourse, which serves as the theoretical framework that enables a holistic view of the research object. Chapter 2 presents the basic structure of Ricoeur’s narrative theory, i.e. the “narrative circle” consisting of three stages of mimesis, in a comparison with “mimēsis” and “muthos” in Aristotle’s Poetics. Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 respectively address the two major problems of this theory, i.e. temporality and subjectivity. The theoretical central core of this thesis lies on Chapter 3. Chapter 4 illustrates the notion of “narrative identity” regarding its background, connotation, and characteristics. Finally, the author concludes that Ricoeur’s narrative theory function as a mediating force in such a way that corresponds with his assertion of “hermeneutic detour”. To sum up, by examining the fundamental structure of narratives, the dialecticism between narrativity and temporality and that between narrativity and selfhood, this thesis demonstrates the mediating role that Ricoeur’s narrative theory plays in his hermeneutical thought system.

Jansen, Anemarie 08 January 2009 (has links)
M.A. / Language, specifically the narrative use of language, is not only a medium through which people express and understand themselves. Language is the vehicle wherein and whereby personal identity is constituted. Thus, identity is not seen as fixed, but as a product-in-process of narrative discourse. The interrelationship between narrative and personal identity can be observed in a person`s almost inborn urge to mentally reconstruct his lifestory. Narratives supply personal identity with continuity and cohesion. Ricoeur`s description of the instance of “mimesis” – narratives are “mimesis” in the sense of being the representation of an action – is used to explain the construction of two selfnarratives (Griet Swart in Griet skryf `n sprokie and Stoffel Mathysen in Die lang pad van Stoffel Mathysen). Ricoeur`s two “functions” of narrative, i.e. to expose and to transform, are considered. Griet Swart`s narrative identity is constituted by her being situated in a tradition (mimesis 1 ) – that of being writer of fairy-tales as well as reader of literature. Drawing on conventions and prior knowledge, a plot is created (mimesis 2), in which Griet narrates her lifestory. The narration, the perspective on a patriarchal society as well as the continuous redefining of narrative identity by means of the writing process, are examined. The act of writing becomes metaphor for personal freedom. In Die lang pad van Stoffel Mathysen the use of the epic hero figure, travel prose, Western literature, hunting prose and the outobiography are examined in order to understand Mathysen`s narrative construction of personal identity. Both Griet and Mathysen reconfigure personal identity by means of narrative. It is this process of constant change in self-understanding that Ricoeur calls “narrative identity”.

Burman Berg, Jorun January 2022 (has links)
When it comes to truth for Theodor W. Adorno, art and philosophy are closely entangled. Due to their contradictory qualities, neither is self-sufficient when it comes to gaining true knowledge, but require each other’s capabilities. However, even though Adorno insists on the special bond between art and philosophy, his aim is not that they should be synthesized into one and the same method. This is because it is not their different strengths that hold their true potential, but their weaknesses. “The True is the whole,” writes Hegel, but this idea is what gets shattered by Adorno when he insists on the respective inabilities of art and philosophy to obtain absolute truth, as a consequence of the suppression of the non-identical held up by identity thinking. By following Adorno’s reading of Hegel, I will in this paper instead suggest that we consider truth as broken. My aim is to show how such an understanding can align with Adorno’s argument that truth is in the object, outside of subjectivity, while also acknowledging the socio-historical mediation of it. Broken parts, seen through the respective deficiencies in art and philosophy, could then be understood as being true, as we dismiss wholeness as a false demand.

A qualitative study of how four music teachers integrates and motivates composition as part of instrumental tuition

Hörnberg, Tomas January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study is that based on Paul Ricoeur threefold mimesis-concept, exploring how some music teachers integrate and motivate composition as an element of instrumental tuition. To achieve the purpose of the study qualitative research interviews were conducted with four music teachers who actively use composition in their instrumental tuition. The result shows that the informants consider the composition as an important part in the creation of musical identity and musical judgement, they compare music with language and sees composition and improvisation as closely related. It also reveals a number of specific approaches, including how the informants use improvisation as a tool for composition. The study's final chapter includes a discussion of the view of creativity, music as a language and musical identity and judgement.

En musikstudents övande : En läroprocess i två cykler / A music student in practice : A learning process in two cycles

Ekeberg, Erik January 2014 (has links)
In this independent work my rehearsal process of Rhapsody for solo clarinet written by Giacomo Miluccio is explored and described from a design theory perspective. The study is based on self-observations that lasted for about 6 months and collected data consists of logbook writing and video recordings. The result of the analysis show how the learning is done with the help of various semiotic resources, and in the form of two transformation cycles, where the first is characterized by a Desire for mimesis, and the other by The way to my own expression. As a bridge between these two cycles will be an occasion where the representation takes the form of a Masterclass. Finally, I discuss my results in relation to literature based on the design theoretical perspective and other previous research in the field of learning.
