[pt] O impulso inicial deste trabalho é a desconfiança de que boa parte da fortuna crítica da poeta Ana Cristina Cesar, que se suicidou em 1983, encontra-se comprometida com um sentimento freudianamente melancólico em relação à sua memória. A partir de um olhar crítico-biográfico sobre o acervo da poeta, procura-se fazer uma leitura dos diferentes graus de comprometimento - menos ou mais produtivos -, detectados nas falas de seus amigos e principais críticos: Armando Freitas Filho, Ítalo Moriconi, Heloísa Buarque de Hollanda e Flora Süssekind. Paralelamente a esta abordagem crítica, um olhar alterbiográfico sobre manuscritos inéditos da poeta procura estabelecer um diálogo escritural com os rastros biográficos encontrados ao longo do caminho da pesquisa arquivística. Um terceiro plano de trabalho superpõe-se aos dois primeiros: um esforço de deixar pistas claras do trajeto reflexivo percorrido por esta pesquisadora, a fim de que o leitor possa detectar, com mais nitidez, meus próprios comprometimentos com o objeto de pesquisa. / [en] The starting point of this work is the suspicion that many of the critical readings on the poetry of Ana Cristina Cesar, who killed herself in 1983, are characterized by Freudian melancholy in their attachment to her memory. In approaching her personal archive with a critical-biographical outlook, I set out to discuss the several degrees of emotional compromise - variously productive - that can be detected in the discourse of her friends and major critics: Armando Freitas Filho, Italo Moriconi, Heloísa Buarque de Hollanda and Flora Süssekind. In addition, an alter-biographical look at some of the poet s unpublished manuscripts tries to establish a textual dialogue with the biographical traces found in the archival research. Finally, an effort is made to leave clear and unmistakable marks of the theoretical steps taken by me in order to make it easier for the reader to detect my own attachment to the object of the research.

[pt] Este estudo consiste em analisar as estratégias literárias utilizadas por Gilberto Freyre para a construção de perfis (auto)biográficos. Foram escolhidos de sua obra os relatos menores em extensão e/ou de circulação mais restrita: O velho Félix e suas Memórias de um Cavalcanti, Um engenheiro francês no Brasil, Manuel Bandeira em três tempos e Tempo morto e outros tempos. Enfoque contemporâneo tendo por base a interdisciplinaridade e o micro-relato. O resgate do passado via história íntima realizado por nosso escritor, ao longo de sua carreira, inspirou o presente trabalho. O exercício da crítica biográfica como contribuição para os estudos de cultura brasileira. / [en] The purpose of this study is to analyze the literary strategies used by Gilberto Freyre in the construction of (auto)biographical profiles. Shorter and/or lesser-known works have been selected: O velho Félix e suas Memórias de um Cavalcanti, Um engenheiro francês no Brasil, Manuel Bandeira em três tempos and Tempo morto e outros tempos. A contemporary approach is used, based on interdisciplinarity and the micronarrative. This study was inspired by Freyre`s recovery of the past by means of the intimate history he developed throughout his career. The exercise of biographical criticism is seen as a contribution to Brazilian cultural studies.

[pt] Esta pesquisa partiu das leituras da obra de Elisa Lispector e da seguinte indagação do pesquisador: por que Elisa, publicada, considerada pela crítica e premiada na segunda metade do século XX no Brasil, caiu no esquecimento? A proposta é resgatar os motivos de interesse do trabalho da escritora. Dentre tais motivos, destacam-se -- em construção autônoma, mas inter-relacionada -- a busca da memória de uma família judaica expatriada, que fugiu da Ucrânia para o Brasil, e o questionamento constante da identidade e das relações interpessoais no contexto da dimensão temporal. As personagens, quer evidenciem ou não traços (auto)biográficos, delineiam-se, ao longo dos contos e romances, sempre empenhadas na construção de sua subjetividade. A tarefa projetada desenvolveu-se com o apoio das entrevistas feitas pelo autor da dissertação e de sua coleção de críticas referentes aos livros de Elisa, desenhos e pinturas do seu acervo, bem como fotos da família Lispector. O enfoque da situação da escritora e de sua obra teve, como principal referência teórica, os princípios da crítica biográfica, orientando não apenas a leitura de registros da vida de Elisa em contraponto à análise de amostras escolhidas de seus escritos, como também a inserção das experiências do pesquisador para a construção da figura da escritora. O objetivo maior é evidenciar a importância do resgate da obra de Elisa Lispector para a literatura brasileira. / [en] This research started from readings of Elisa Lispector and the question: why has her work, published, well regarded by critics and awarded prizes in the second half of the twentieth century in Brazil, fallen into neglect? The idea is to highlight the points of interest in Lispector s work. Foremost among these are the following (each a good reason in its own right, but all interconnected): the memories of an expatriate Jewish family who fled Ukraine for Brazil, and the constant questioning of identity and interpersonal relations over time. The characters—whether or not they contain (auto) biographical features—in her short stories and novels are always involved with the construction of their own subjectivity. This study relied on the interviews made by the author and on his collection of criticism related to Elisa Lispector s books, drawings and paintings belonging to her, as well as photographs of the Lispector family. The basic theoretical underpinnings of this study of a writer s life and work are the principles of biographical criticism. They provide guidelines not only for the reading of the records of a writer s life in the light of analyses of samples chosen from her writings, but also for an understanding of the researcher s own experiences in his construction of the figure of Elisa Lispector. The major goal here is to underscore the importance of rediscovering her work for Brazilian literature.

[pt] Esta dissertação investiga o pensamento de Silviano Santiago a partir da relação entre sua vida e obra, levando em conta a repetição de certos temas com suas respectivas formas escriturais. Nosso percurso inicia-se pela infância de Silviano no interior de Minas Gerais, com destaque para suas leituras, em especial a poesia de Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Em seguida, o foco passa à maturidade do crítico, quando volta ao Brasil para ensinar na Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro na década de 1970. Nessa época, Silviano investe na construção ficcional e teórico-crítica enquanto incorpora em sua escrita o resultado da leitura de pensadores como Jacques Derrida e Claude Lévi-Strauss, interessado em destacar e discutir as tensões entre estruturalismo e pós-estruturalismo, tema que penetra seu repertório desde sua temporada de pesquisa e ensino em instituições francesas e norte-americanas. Incorporando a grafia-de-vida de Silviano à investigação de sua obra teórica e ficcional, delineada em sua formação cosmopolita, esta pesquisa deseja oferecer uma outra inteligibilidade ao universo crítico do autor. / [en] This dissertation investigates Silviano Santiago s thought from the relationship between his life and work, taking into account the repetition of certain themes and their respective writing forms. Our work begins with Silviano s childhood in the countryside of Minas Gerais, highlighting his readings, especially the poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Then, the focus moves to the critic s maturity, when he returns to Brazil to teach at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s. At that time, Silviano invests in fiction and theoretical-critical writing while incorporating the results of reading thinkers such as Jacques Derrida and Claude Lévi-Strauss into his work. He is interested in highlighting and discussing the tensions between structuralism and post-structuralism, a theme that permeates his repertoire since his research and teaching stints in French and North American institutions. Incorporating Silviano s life-writing into the investigation of his theoretical and fictional work, outlined in his cosmopolitan formation, this research aims to offer another understanding to the author s critical universe.

[pt] Rumor de Arquivo: Rosário Fusco, c est la vie! encena por meio de arranjos, vozes e máquinas mediadoras, um trânsito entre O Agressor, obra de ficção de Rosário Fusco e a vida do escritor. Exploram-se, neste contexto, documentos de arquivo em torno do autor, especialmente inclinado ao recorte de cartas inéditas (e esparsas) - mantidas entre o mesmo e Mário de Andrade, de 1927 a 1940 - sempre a explorar e transformar privações, desvios, apagamentos, invariavelmente impostos à pesquisa biográfica, como nascedouro de invenções casadas com reflexões, acerca do objeto de pesquisa. Diante da ruína de arquivo, o autor, contaminado por sua personagem David, inscreve, no espaço ficcional, seu impulso desejante. Busca, assim, refazer o rastro – ou resistir ao inevitável mal que apaga a memória – deixando um traço de verdade. Ao seguir os passos da Crítica Biográfica, Rumor de Arquivo funda um teatro de, usando expressões de Eneida Maria de Souza e, secundariamente, de Philippe Lejeune, invenção e estetização da memória (...), mentindo-verdadeiramente. / [en] Rumor de Arquivo: Rosário Fusco, c est la vie! stages by means of arrangements, voices and mediatory machines, a transit among the fictional work O Agressor by Fusco and the author s life. In this context, the author s archival documents are explored, aiming specially in a collection of unknown (and sparse) letters, traded between the author and Mário de Andrade, from 1927 to 1940, with the intent to explore and transform privations, deviations, deletions, which are invariably imposed on biographical research, as a source of inventions related to reflections over the object of research and its subsequent manifestations. Rosário Fusco s aggressor impels DAVID, the aggressor, to an open scene, exposed, a denouncer of the mediating voices; Standard, already re-harmonize and altered in its irrepressible virus. Facing a form of archive fever, as a trail is craved, a sparkle of truth ignites in contrast with inherent and unconditional restrictions. Following in the footsteps of Biographical Criticism, Rumor of Archive establishes a theater, and employing the expressions of Eneida Maria de Souza and secondly Philippe Lejeune, invention and aestheticization of memory (…) truthfully-lies.

[pt] Este trabalho tem como objetivo traçar perfis biográfico-críticos de quatro escritores ligados por laços de sangue e de escrita. Bernardo Guimarães, Alphonsus de Guimaraens, João Alphonsus e Alphonsus de Guimaraens Filho formam quatro gerações de uma mesma família que se dedicou à literatura. Suas vidas e obras se entrelaçam aqui num campo imaginário, documental e real, assim como evidenciam a convivência com seus pares literários e as relações com a literatura de suas respectivas épocas. Nestes entrecruzamentos há uma leitura da obra destes escritores que aborda, entre outros elementos, a tendência – comum entre os quatro – de transformar os laços de parentesco em alianças artísticas, a capacidade de intercambiar experiências estéticas marcadamente diferentes, transformando a solidão do trabalho artístico em atividade de compartilhamento de experiências literárias. Há aqui o espírito de aventura e a ousadia de atitudes e escolhas temático-estéticas de Bernardo Guimarães; o sedentarismo nostálgico dos centros de agitação cultural e a concentração no requinte escritural, de Alphonsus de Guimaraens; o impulso de renovação, a perspicácia na observação da cena sociopolítica e a disponibilidade em preservar e divulgar a herança das gerações anteriores, em João Alphonsus; a lucidez no apego às dicções poéticas tradicionais, na construção da própria obra, e o desempenho cuidadoso da tarefa de levar adiante a preservação e divulgação da herança das gerações anteriores, em Alphonsus Filho. / [en] This thesis presents critical biographies of four writers who were linked by kinship and their writing. Bernardo Guimarães, Alphonsus de Guimaraens, João Alphonsus e Alphonsus de Guimaraens Filho belong to four generations of a family devoted to literature. Here, their lives and writings come together in a field that is at once imaginary, documentary and real, that maps out their relationships with their peers as well as with the literature of their times. A reading of the works of these authors in their social context reveals the tendency of all four to transform kinship links into artistic alliances, and their shared capacity to exchange distinct aesthetic experiences in such a way as to assuage the solitude of their work in the sharing of their literary experiences: the spirit of adventure of Bernardo Guimarães the boldness of his choice of themes and his aesthetic approach; the sedentary nostalgia for the centres of cultural innovation and a concentration on an elegance of writing on the part of Alphonsus de Guimaraens; an impulse for renovation, a perspicacity in the observation of the social and political scene and a willingness to preserve and disseminate the work of previous generations in the case of João Alphonsus; and, a similar respect for the past coupled with the elaboration of traditional poetic forms in his own writing in the work of Alphonsus Filho.
