[pt] A INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL NOS DISCURSOS DAS EDTECHS NO BRASIL / [en] ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE DISCOURSES OF EDTECHSGISELLE DE MORAIS LIMA 08 April 2024 (has links)
três empresas selecionadas: a Letrus, a Educacross e a Jovens Gênios.
A IA
As empresas
educador e estudante.
[en] This work seeks to address educational technologies through critical questions, avoiding the idea of neutrality that is commonly attributed to them, including in academic literature. The general objective is to analyze discourses on artificial intelligence (AI) promoted by educational technology companies (edtechs) that offer technologies aimed at teaching-learning. The specific objectives are: 1) to examine how AI is conceived in edtech discourses; 2) to investigate the roles assigned by edtechs to technologies in teaching and learning processes; and 3) to characterize the conceptions of education conveyed by these discourses. Critical Discourse Analysis was the theoretical-methodological framework that guided the analyses, starting from the categories of assumptions, lexical choices and modality. The corpus is composed of texts taken from websites and seventeen Instagram posts from three selected companies: Letrus, Educacross and Jovens Gênios. In the material analyzed, AI is conceived as a solution to various educational problems and positioned either as a subject or as a tool for learning. AI appears with the role of personalizing education, making learning more meaningful and education more objective and efficient, based on data, democratic and innovative, in addition to being able to overcome deficiencies in teaching. Companies disseminate a conception of education based on performance, organized by skills and abilities, markedly individualistic, marginalizing the relationship between educator and student. The discourses express an ideal of education that values individual qualification to the detriment of the dimensions of socialization and subjectivation, therefore far from ideals of broad training and social transformation.

[en] A CRITICAL VIEW ON THE INTERPRETABILITY OF MACHINE LEARNING MODELS / [pt] UMA VISÃO CRÍTICA SOBRE A INTERPRETABILIDADE DE MODELOS DE APRENDIZADO DE MÁQUINAJORGE LUIZ CATALDO FALBO SANTO 29 July 2019 (has links)
[en] As machine learning models penetrate critical areas like medicine, the criminal justice system, and financial markets, their opacity, which hampers humans ability to interpret most of them, has become a problem to be solved. In this work, we present a new taxonomy to classify any method, approach or strategy to deal with the problem of interpretability of machine learning models. The proposed taxonomy fills a gap in the current taxonomy frameworks regarding the subjective perception of different interpreters about the same model. To evaluate the proposed taxonomy, we have classified the contributions of some relevant scientific articles in the area.

O primeiro diz respeito a
[en] This dissertation investigates the problem of story telling
and generation, whose increasingly recognized relevance is
mostly due to the popularization of interactive media, such
as digital TV and video-games. The work initiates with
a state of the art survey, detailing the major story
representation models and the most used methods in literary
work production. The use of the term story
engineering was proposed to emphasize that story telling
and generation should be viewed as an engineering process.
The fundamental problem was divided into three subproblems.
The first one is how to generate stories, the second is how
to tell them to the public and the last is how to create,
store and query the knowledge base used for story
engineering. Finally, as a case study, a prototype capable
of automatically generating and telling stories was
designed and programmed. Generation is done by a planner,
using the Hierarchical Task Network algorithm. Storytelling
applies a natural language generation tool. The knowledge
base is stored under the form ofXMLdocuments, and a tool
was implemented to simplify their preparation.

[en] A SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE TO SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF MEDICAL IMAGING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS / [pt] UMA ARQUITETURA DE SOFTWARE PARA APOIO AO DESENVOLVIMENTO DE SISTEMAS DE DIAGNÓSTICO MÉDICOS POR IMAGEMRICARDO ALMEIDA VENIERIS 02 August 2018 (has links)
[en] The image medical exam diagnostic support using Artificial Intelligence techniques has been extensively discussed and academically researched. Several computational techniques for segmentation and classification of such images are continuously created, tested and improved. From these studies, highly specialized systems that use computational vision and machine learning techniques to segment and classify exam images using knowledge acquired through large collections of lauded exams. In the medical domain, there is still the difficulty of obtaining qualified databases to support the extraction of knowledge by machine learning systems. In this work we propose a software architecture construction that supports diagnostic support systems development that allows: (i) use of multiple exam types, (ii) supporting segmentation and classification, (iii) using not only machine learning techniques as, (iv) knowledge of the available medical domain. The motivation is to facilitate the generation of classifiers task that, besides searching for specific pathological markers, can be applied to different medical activity objectives, such as punctual diagnosis, triage and prioritization of care.

[en] AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE MIDDLEWARE FOR DIGITAL GAMES / [pt] UM MIDDLEWARE DE INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL PARA JOGOS DIGITAISBORJE FELIPE FERNANDES KARLSSON 07 March 2006 (has links)
do jogo.
Outro fator importante é a falta
possam melhorar a jogabilidade.
jogos. / [en] The usage of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in
digital games is
currently facing a steady need of improvements, so it can
cater to players
higher and higher expectations that require realism and
believability
in the game environment and in its characters' behaviours.
In order to
ease the fulfillment of these goals, software engineering
techniques and
methodologies have started to be used during game
development. However,
the use of such techniques and the creation of AI
middleware are still far
from being a generic and flexible enough tool for
developing this kind of
application. Another important factor to be mentioned in
this discussion is
the lack of available literature related to studies in
this field.
This dissertation discusses the research effort in
developing a flexible
architecture that can be applied to diferent game styles,
provides support
for several game AI functionalities and serves as basis
for the introduction
of more powerful techniques that can improve gameplay and
user experience.
This work presents: design issues of such system and its
integration with
games; a study on AI middleware architecture for games; an
analysis
of the state-of-the-art in the field; and a survey of the
available
relevant literature. Taking this research as starting
point, the design and
implementation of the proposed AI middleware architecture
was conducted
and is also described here. Besides the implementation
itself, a study on the
use of design patterns in the context of the development
and evolution of
an AI framework for digital games is also presented.

[en] GROUP BEHAVIOR FOR BLACK&WHITE CHARACTERS / [pt] COMPORTAMENTO EM GRUPO DE PERSONAGENS DO TIPO BLACK&WHITEFELIPE GOMES DE CARVALHO 15 September 2004 (has links)
crescente interesse no
desenvolvimento de jogos que utilizam técnicas sofisticadas
de Inteligência
Artificial (IA). Verifica-se, dessa forma, o surgimento de
jogos mais realistas,
tanto no aspecto gráfico quanto no comportamento dos
personagens. O jogo
computacionais, baseada no
modelo de agentes deliberativos chamado BDI (Belief, Desire
and Intention, ou
Crença, Desejo e Intenção). O presente trabalho visa
interação envolverá a
KQML (Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language, ou
Linguagem de
Consulta e Manipulação de Conhecimento). / [en] Recently the game industry has been demonstrating much
interest in the
development of games that use more powerful Artificial
Intelligence (AI)
techniques. In this way, many games have been developed
with more realistic
graphics and character behavior. The game Black and White
(B and W), developed by
Lionhead Studios, is considered an important example of the
use of AI techniques
in games, and has resulted in a great success, disclosing a
very interesting
deliberative architecture for computational agents. Such
architecture is based on
the deliberative model called BDI (Belief, Desire and
Intention). The present work
aims to develop a study on the architecture used in game
B&W, and also on the

[pt] ANÁLISE DE MATURIDADE EM BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE COMO FATOR DE CRIAÇÃO DE VANTAGEM COMPETITIVA E MELHORIA DE PERFORMANCE: ESTUDO DE CASO EM UMA EMPRESA DO SETOR FARMACÊUTICO / [en] MATURITY ANALYSIS IN BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AS A FACTOR CREATING COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: CASE STUDY IN A COMPANY IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL SECTORGABRIEL LOURENCO S DOS SANTOS 25 May 2023 (has links)
[en] The objective of this work is to analyze the perception of a sample of
employees, from different departments and positions, about the stage of maturity in
Business Intelligence of a company in the pharmaceutical sector. Subsequently, we
intend to understand the relationship between the perception of maturity and the
perception of the potential for creating competitive advantage and improving the
company s performance that the adoption of Business Intelligence can trace. To
achieve the objective, a survey was carried out with 32 respondents, to collect their
perception of the company s maturity in five dimensions of maturity: Organization,
Infrastructure, Data Management, Analysis and Governance to frame the company
within a stage. In addition, the questionnaires included questions related to the
perception of creating competitive advantage and improving performance. In order
to better understand the results to later create a better plan proposal for the company
to move forward in the model, we conducted in-depth interviews with four
respondents and a regression analysis in order to better understand the relationship
between the variables. The work is limited to studying the company today without
having followed the evolution over time, researching only one company in the
pharmaceutical sector based in Brazil, limiting comparisons with benchmarking
between countries and sectors. Also, the fact that the researcher knows and is an
employee of the same company two interviewees could cause discomfort on their
part, generating the possibility of viewing the answers. With the research results
added to the best BI practices developed without theoretical reference, a proposal
was elaborated with a better plan that has been imple mented, it is proven,
that can lead the company to advance in its maturity stage.

[pt] ESTIMADOR INTELIGENTE DE BIOMASSA EM PASTOS USANDO ÍNDICES DE VEGETAÇÃO A PARTIR DE IMAGENS CAPTURADAS POR VANTS / [en] INTELLIGENT BIOMASS ESTIMATION IN PASTURES USING RGB-BASED VEGETATION INDICES FROM UAV IMAGERYLUCIANA DOS SANTOS NETTO DOS REYS 11 August 2022 (has links)
rebanho. / [en] The correct management of pastures in agricultural regions plays a
fundamental role in the production itself, in the prevention of plant biomass
waste and the release of greenhouse gases (GHG). In addition, it is necessary
to avoid inappropriate movement of the herd between pastures, as this is a
time-consuming process and can be stressful for the animal. The success of this
management requires an efficient assessment of the plant resources. The studies
developed for this purpose are directly related to the amount estimation of
biomass in a specific region of the pasture, because, in practice, it is not carried
out accurately, due to the difficulty of measurement throughout the field.
This work aims to develop a low-cost biomass estimation methodology, based
on regression models that correlate the most relevant input features for the
application with the actual density of the plantation, measured in g/m2
. For the
features, the height of the forage grass was measured and the vegetation indexes
based on RGB were calculated from images of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
Linear, nonlinear regression (MNLR), artificial neural networks (ANN) based
on multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and the combination of all models generated
(stacking ensemble) were the methodologies tested in order to achieve the
best correlation. Satisfactory results were achieved using models of neural
networks with two layers and using stacking ensemble methodology, reaching a
RMSE of 31.76 g/m2
, MAPE of 13.35 percent and R-Squared of 0.9. Therefore, the
proposed methodology may become a promising and affordable solution for
plant biomass estimation toward efficient and sustainable herd management.

[en] EXPLAINABLE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR MEDICAL IMAGE CLASSIFIERS / [pt] INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL EXPLICÁVEL PARA CLASSIFICADORES DE IMAGENS MÉDICASIAM PALATNIK DE SOUSA 02 July 2021 (has links)
[en] Artificial Intelligence has generated promissing results for the medical
area, especially on the last decade. However, the best performing models
present opacity when it comes to their internal working. In this thesis, methodologies
and approaches are presented for the develpoment of explainable classifiers
of medical images. Two main methods, Squaregrid and EvEx, were developed.
The first consistts in a rough, but fast, generation of heatmaps via
segmentations in square grids, and the second in genetic multi objective optimizations
aiming at the fine-tuning of segmentation parameters. Notably, both
techniques are agnostic to the model, which facilitates their utilization for any
kind of image classifier. The potential of these approaches was demonstrated in
three case studies of medical classifications: lymph node mestastases, malária
and COVID-19. In some of these cases, already existing classifier models were
analyzed, while in some others new models were trained. For the COVID-19
study, the trained ResNet50 provided F-scores above 0.9 in a test set from a
coronavirus classification competition, resulting in the third place overall. Additionally,
already existing explainable artificial intelligence techniques, such
as LIME and GradCAM, as well as Vanilla, Smooth and Integrated Gradients,
were also used to generate heatmaps and enable comparisons. The results here
described help to demonstrate and improve the gaps in integrating the areas of
explainable artificial intelligence and medicine. They also aided in demonstrating
that the different types of approaches in explainable artificial intelligence
can generate heatmaps that focus on different characteristics of the image.
This shows the importance of combining approaches to create a more complete
overview of classifier models, as well as extracting informations about
what they learned from data.
