[pt] A década de 1960 é lembrada a partir das mobilizações juvenis ao redor do mundo. Mobilizações essas bastante heterogêneas, indo de extremos como lutas armadas contra ditaduras militares a pregações de paz, amor e fim do moralismo retrógrado que permeava sobre as sociedades capitalistas ocidentais. Operando com a noção de contracultura, esse último grupo buscou criticar questões políticas, sociais e, sobretudo, culturais se afastando das imposições do establishment e formando novas premissas culturais. O rock estava ali, influenciando e conscientizando a juventude e, sobretudo, provocando mudanças em sua maneira de viver e se comportar. Este trabalho consiste nas análises e apontamentos das influências do rock psicodélico norte-americano e inglês na contracultura nacional. Para tal, fez-se uso de alguns periódicos que retratavam e veiculavam a ebulição psicodélica da época e, desta forma, entender as assimilações dessas proposições e por quais filtros elas se deram pela sociedade. / [en] The 1960s is remembered from youth mobilizations around the world. But these mobilizations were very heterogeneous, ranging from extremes like armed struggles against military dictatorships to preaching peace, love and the end of morality that pervaded retrograde on the western capitalist societies. Working on the idea of counterculture, this last group sought criticizing political, social, and especially cultural impositions moving away from the establishment and forming new cultural assumptions. The rock music was there, raising awareness and influencing youth and, especially, causing changes in their way of living and behaving. The intentions of this work consist of noting and analyzing the influences of American and English psychedelic rock on national counterculture. In this manner, some journals that portrayed and conveyed the 60s psychedelic culture increase was used to, thus, understand the assimilation of those propositions by society.

[pt] A partir dos dados coletados na pesquisa O Sonho Brasileiro – realizada em 2010, pela BOX 1824 –, buscou-se compreender a configuração dos jovens em relação à esfera pública, ao se relacionar esses dados com os conceitos de cidadania, consumo e juventude no Brasil contemporâneo. Abordou-se o conceito de cidadania a partir das ideias dos autores T.H. Marshall e José Murilo de Carvalho, que a entendiam como processo. Em paralelo, percebe-se o consumo como um ato político em um momento em que as instituições políticas perdem sua credibilidade, além de serem encaradas como instrumento de pertencimento ou diferenciação social. Conclui-se que é importante o jovem resgatar o valor do Estado como agregador dos interesses coletivos / [en] From the data collected in the survey The Brazilian Dream - published in 2010 by BOX 1824 - we sought to understand the configuration of the young in relation to the public sphere, to relate these data to the concepts of citizenship, consumption and youth in contemporary Brazil. It approaches the concept of citizenship from the ideas of the authors TH Marshall and José Murilo de Carvalho, who understand it as a process. In parallel, the consumption is perceived as a political act at a time when political institutions lose their credibility, in addition, it is regarded as an instrument of belonging or social differentiation. We conclude that it is important the young recover the value of the state as aggregator of collective interests.

[pt] Esta dissertação aborda as percepções de jovens sobre sua participação no PROJOVEM. O estudo foi realizado em seis estações da juventude na cidade do Rio de Janeiro onde o programa foi implantado. A reflexão é acerca do direito à participação da juventude nas políticas públicas de promoção da cidadania, conforme proposto pela Constituição Federal de 1988, pelo Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente de 1990 e pelo Estatuto da Juventude de 2004, nos quais as políticas públicas para este segmento são concebidas como um direito. A análise da participação e direitos à juventude brasileira da atualidade, se impõe como necessidade perante o grande contingente jovem e à situação de vulnerabilidade que se encontra grande parte desse contingente. A pesquisa demonstra que o PROJOVEM é percebido pelos jovens entrevistados não somente como um direito, mas também como um favor. Em alguns aspectos os jovens reconhecem benefícios nesta iniciativa do governo, no entanto, não acreditam que venha promover uma mudança em sua condição de vida, pois não atende suas expectativas de direitos igualitários. Os jovens demonstram estar conscientes de seus direitos, participação e responsabilidades. / [en] This dissertation explores the perception of youth about their participation on the Federal Government Project known as PROJOVEM. The research took place in six different establishments where the project was implemented in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The main focus is on the right to participation for youth guaranteed in the Brazilian Constitution of 1988, in the National Statute for Children and Youth created in 1990 and also by the Youth Statute from 2004. The analyses of youth participation and their rights have a particular importance considering the number of youth in Brazil living in vulnerable situations. The research has demonstrated that the youth interviewed perceives PROJOVEM as a right but at the same time as a favor. Even though they recognize that this federal project offer alternatives in general they feel that it won´t change their life conditions. The youth demonstrated to have a good understanding of their rights and responsibilities.

[pt] O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar os significados da educação profissional para a trajetória profissional dos jovens oriundos do Programa Nacional de Inclusão de Jovens (ProJovem Urbano) na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Para tal, desenvolvemos uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, com jovens moradores dos bairros de Costa Barros e Rocinha, que cursaram o Programa entre os anos de 2005 e 2010. No trabalho de campo realizamos entrevistas semiestruturadas com 9 jovens, nas quais buscamos ouvi-los a respeito do período que cursaram o ProJovem Urbano, principalmente no que tange ao seu processo de qualificação profissional. A análise do material obtido possibilitou perceber que o Programa se apresenta, para os nossos entrevistados, como uma possibilidade de conclusão do ensino básico (ensino fundamental). Porém, no que diz respeito à qualificação profissional oferecida o mesmo parece evidenciar um descompasso entre aquilo que é proposto e o que é posto em prática. Mesmo tendo um cunho de iniciação profissional, o que os jovens nos relatam são variados problemas que precarizam o andamento das aulas de qualificação, comprometendo a qualificação profissional pretendida. / [en] This study aimed to analyze the meanings of Professional education for young people career from Youth Inclusion National Program (ProJovem Urbano) in Rio de Janeiro city. To this end, we developed a qualitative research with young residents of Costa Barros and Rocinha neighborhoods who attended this program between 2005 and 2010. During the fieldwork we conducted semistructured interviews with nine young people, in which we seek to listen them about the period they done ProJovem Urbano, especially in terms of their qualification process. The analysis of material obtained allowed us to realize that the program is showed to our respondents, as a possible completion of basic education (elementary school). However, with regard to professional qualifications offered the same seems to show a mismatch between what is proposed and what is put in practice. Even though a mark of professional initiation, what young people show us that they are different problems that undermines the progress of qualifying classes, compromising the desired qualification.

[pt] As juventudes têm sido influenciada por culturas alinhadas ao espírito desse tempo e que nada tem a ver com os valores cristãos. Num tempo em que o mundo passa por transformações em muitos aspectos, está em curso a transição para uma nova configuração de comportamentos humanos. Por ainda ser fase inacabada, não se pode ter uma leitura correta de como as coisas serão. É possível, no entanto, perceber como os jovens encaravam a vida no passado recente e como a vida tem sido encarada no mundo líquido moderno. Na impossibilidade de definir como é a juventude atual, ao menos as tendências de comportamento podem ser percebidas. Esse cenário, novo e desafiador, é o campo de atuação dos ministérios de juventudes das igrejas batistas. Através de levantamento bibliográfico de livros, pesquisas oficiais, artigos acadêmicos, dissertações e teses defendidas, esta pesquisa pretende descrever quem são as juventudes modernas, quais as culturas e as tendências que influenciam essas juventudes, e as maneiras de lidar com elas sob uma perspectiva pastoral cristã, particularmente batista. Levando em conta o que já foi feito e o que está em andamento de maneira oficial na denominação batista no Brasil, para que se possa apontar onde queremos chegar enquanto jovens batistas brasileiros. / [en] Youth have been influenced by cultures aligned with the spirit of that time and have no relations with Christian values. Nowadays we live times of transformations in many aspects, in so many changes takes to a new type of human kinds of behaviors. For still being unfinished, one can not have a correct reading how the things will be. It s possible, however to perceive how the youngs faced the life at the recent past and how the life has been faced at the modern liquid world. It s impossible to define how is the current youth, at least the tendencies of behavior can be perceived. This new and challenger scene, is the actuaction field of baptist churches youngs ministries. Throught a bibliographic survey of books, oficial researches, academic articles, dissertations and theses defended, this research pretends to describe who are the moderns youths, which cultures and whose tendencies influence these generation, and the ways of dealing with them under a christian pastoral perspective, particularly baptist. We need to consider what has already been done and what is in progress in an official way in the Baptist denomination in Brazil, So that we can point out where we want to reach as young Brazilian Baptists.

[pt] A pesquisa busca compreender a relação entre a prática do jiu-jitsu, tal como desenvolvido pela família Gracie, e a violência praticada pelo que a mídia convencionou chamar de pitboys, jovens cariocas de classe média e alta que amiúde envolvem-se em brigas e atos de vandalismo. Evitando abordar o tema pelo viés da ausência, comumente utilizado para explicar o comportamento de pitboys - a falta de instrutores de jiu-jitsu qualificados, de pais zelosos, de limites de educação, de leis mais severas etc. -, o presente estudo procurou observar, no interior de uma academia de jiu-jitsu, a construção de um ethos guerreiro, a profissionalização da porrada advinda do sucesso dos eventos de vale-tudo, as inscrições corporais dos praticantes de jiu-jitsu, a importância das marias-tatames na consolidação de um estilo de masculinidade rude ou bruto, e a relação entre virilidade e masculinidade, atributos muito prezados por lutadores. Num segundo momento, a pesquisa se dedica a entender a porrada como um jogo, uma brincadeira inserida num contexto lúdico; jogo que é a um só tempo racional e irracional, e que implica sempre em algum risco e, portanto, em possibilidade de reconhecimento e lucros de distinção para os vencedores. Observa-se também o contexto mais amplo dentro do qual o fenômeno pitboy eclodiu: a sensação de insegurança que se instala no rastro da ascensão do crime organizado a partir dos anos oitenta, o processo de identificação de pitboys com marginais excluídos, a cultura da malandragem que une a ambos e, ao mesmo tempo e paradoxalmente, o reforço das fronteiras de classe no uso do você sabe com quem está falando?, comumente utilizado por jovens de classe média e alta que praticam a violência na noite carioca. / [en] The research tries to understand the relation between the practice of jiu-jitsu, as developed by the Gracie family, and the violence of the so called pitboys, upper class young boys that often becomes involved in street fights and acts of vandalism. Preventing to approach the subject trough the bias of the absence, normally used to explain the behavior of pitboys - the lack of qualified jiu-jitsu instructors, zealous parents, limits of education, severe laws etc. -, the present study seeks to observe, in the interior of a jiu-jitsu academy, the construction of a warlike ethos, the professionalization of street fights due to the success of No Holds Barred events, the corporal inscriptions of jiu-jitsu practitioners, the importance of the Marias-tatames (young girls who choose only mean jiu-jitsu fighters to date) in the consolidation of a rude style of masculinity, and the relation between virility and masculinity, attributes highly valued by fighters. The research also tries to understand street fights as a game that is part of a playful context; a play that, at the same time, is both rational and irrational, that always implies in some kind of risk and, therefore, in the possibility of recognition for the winners. The wider context in which the phenomenon pitboy came out is also observed: the sensation of unsecurity that is installed in the track of organized crime`s ascension back in the Eighties; the process of identification of pitboys with excluded delinquents; the malandragem culture that joins them both and, paradoxicalally, the frequent use by pitboys of the autoritarian rite do you know who are you speaking to?, that reinforces the distinction between upper and lower class people in Brazil.

[pt] Esta tese se desenvolveu dentro dos pressupostos metodológicos de um estudo de caso de natureza qualitativa, elegendo a Fanfarra Gabriel Prestes - a FAGAP - da cidade de Lorena, situada na região do Vale do Paraíba Paulista como seu objeto. O ponto de partida da investigação foi conhecer de que maneira o espaço da fanfarra interfere em seus integrantes, através de uma longa e efetiva inserção na investigação de campo. O plano de pesquisa adotado se desenvolveu de modo a dar conta, ao mesmo tempo, de dois eixos de análise do objeto da tese: o diacrônico e o sincrônico. O eixo diacrônico possibilitou o estudo do grupo dentro de um referencial histórico das fanfarras e da própria FAGAP e o eixo sincrônico analisou as circunstâncias presentes. O cruzamento desses dois eixos permitiu que fosse traçada uma configuração da FAGAP e realizada a análise das características comuns a outros grupos musicais, bem como a focalização de suas particularidades. A adoção deste desenho metodológico mostrou ser possível o rompimento com uma perspectiva de trabalho investigativo focada apenas no presente do grupo em estudo, bem como recuperar práticas, contextos e tradições que podem situá-lo no seu cotidiano. Os dados coletados na pesquisa histórica e os de campo produziram um corpo de conhecimentos bastante denso que foi analisado criticamente à luz de autores que se ocupam do estudo das representações e das culturas, mais particularmente Jean Claude Abric, Iuri Lotman e Bruno Latour. Confrontando a história das fanfarras com a da própria FAGAP, os dados mostraram como as fanfarras têm sobrevivido às mudanças culturais, resistindo à ameaça de extinção e se constituindo um espaço de educação da juventude. / [en] This work was developed within the methodological guidelines of a qualitative case study, having as its object the Gabriel Prestes Fanfare - FAGAP - from the city of Lorena, located in the Vale do Paraíba Paulista region. The onset of the research involved getting to know how the fanfare space interferes with its participants by means of a long, effective immersion in the fieldwork. The adopted research plan was developed in such a way as to simultaneously follow two analytical axes on the object of the thesis: a diachronical one and a synchronical one. The diachronical axis enabled studying the group within an historical frame of reference of fanfares as well as FAGAP itself, while the synchronical axis dealt with current circumstances. Crossing these two axes made it possible to delineate a configuration of FAGAP and to analyze the characteristics it shares with other musical groups, as well as to focus on its peculiarities. Adopting such a methodological design proved possible to do away with an investigative perspective focused solely on the present situation of the group being studied, as well as to recover practices, contexts and traditions which help approach the group in its everyday life. The data collected in the historical research and those collected in the fieldwork produced a dense body of knowledge which was critically analyzed in the light of authors who study representations and cultures, particularly Jean Claude Abric, Iuri Lotman and Bruno Latour. By confronting the history of fanfares to that of FAGAP itself, the data show how fanfares have survived cultural changes and resisted the threat of extinction, becoming an educational space for youths.

[pt] O presente trabalho priorizou, através de um estudo de caso, o acompanhamento, o registro e a análise das atividades de jovens universitários membros participantes da ENECOS - Executiva Nacional dos Estudantes de Comunicação Social que lutam pela democratização da comunicação. Foram nove meses de observação participante na Regional Rio de Janeiro, período no qual suas práticas e táticas - inclusive através da Internet - foram postas em foco como forma de analisar um movimento estudantil na contemporaneidade. Além disso, foram realizadas 26 entrevistas sob a forma presencial e aplicados 70 questionários online. Dos dados coletados, buscou-se estudar tanto como teriam sido forjadas as concepções de mídia desses estudantes para que optassem por se envolver pela democratização da comunicação, como os caminhos que os teriam incentivado a se organizar coletivamente em nome de ideais. Os resultados apontam que o diálogo do movimento estudantil com os movimentos sociais organizados seja a principal fonte de mediação. / [en] The present work has emphasized, by dint of a case study, the monitoring of a group of young college students who make part of ENECOS (National Executive of Social Communication Students). The study took nine months of participating observance along with students from the branch in Rio de Janeiro, who fight for the democratization of communication. During this period, in which the practices and tactics - including by means of the internet - were put into focus as a way of analyzing a student´s movement at present times. Besides that, 26 interviews were made personally and 70 online questionnaires were applied. The data collected was used to research not only how the media conceptions of these students were forged, so that they would choose to be involved by the democratization of communication, but also the ways which could have encouraged them to organize themselves collectively in the name of an ideal. The results indicate the dialog between the student´s movement and the organized social movements are the main source of mediation.

[pt] Esta tese discute as relações entre juventudes e audiovisual. Foram analisadas as relações de jovens da periferia de Juiz de Fora com os filmes que assistem, usando os diversos suportes. Nesse sentido, foram selecionados filmes de grandes bilheterias que possuíam jovens como protagonistas. Os filmes selecionados foram visualizados por jovens estudantes de uma escola municipal de bairro periférico da cidade de Juiz de Fora-MG, em oficinas nas quais eram propostas atividades empíricas que objetivavam entender a relação deles com os filmes vistos. O material produzido na pesquisa de campo – áudios, textos, desenhos, vídeos – foi analisado com auxílio do software Atlas TI e à luz do referencial teórico-metodológico que trata da análise de conteúdo, considerando as relações entre comunicação, poder, indústria cultural, juventudes e escola. Os estudos do grupo de Comunicação Latino-americanos embasam os conceitos desta tese, assim como os estudos de juventudes, desenvolvidos por grupos de pesquisa e observatórios da juventude da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais e Universidade Federal Fluminense. Os resultados apontam para a forte influência dos filmes estadunidenses no cotidiano do grupo pesquisado, além disso, a relação desses jovens com os super-heróis ficou bastante evidenciada, e ainda, a necessidade de que a escola participe da formação estética audiovisual deles. / [en] The present thesis discusses the relationship between youth and the audiovisual. The focus of the analysis was the relationship between the youngsters from the outskirts of Juiz de Fora with the films they watch, utilizing various types of media. Therefore, blockbuster films with young protagonists were selected. The selected films were watched by young students of a municipal school in the outskirts of the city of Juiz de Fora –MG, in workshops in which empirical activities were proposed which were aimed at understanding their connection to the films they watched. The material produced during the fieldwork – audio files, texts, drawings, video files – were analyzed with the help of the Atlas TI software and based on the theoretical framework of Content Analysis, considering the connections between communication, power, cultural industry, youth and school. The studies by the Latin American Communication group provided the basis to the concepts in this thesis, as well as the youth observatory of the Federal University of Minas Gerais and the Fluminense Federal University. The results point to a strong influence of US films in the everyday life of the researched group, also the students’ connection to super heroes was highlighted, besides the need for the school to participate in their aesthetic audiovisual experience.
