[pt] Esta pesquisa objetiva comparar quantitativa e qualitativamente a realização, na escrita e na oralidade, do Sistema de Transitividade, que pressupõe a escolha de processos, participantes e circunstâncias, utilizados de modo a construir a significação do mundo interno e externo do usuário de uma língua. A teoria sistêmico funcional, que fundamenta a proposta (Halliday,1994, Halliday e Matthiessen, 2004,), toma como base não apenas a noção de que a forma está subordinada à função ─ e a ideia de que a organização interna da linguagem se dá em termos de funções que ela deve desempenhar na vida social ─ como também a relação do texto com o contexto. Para esta pesquisa, cartas de reclamação (N igual a126) e atendimentos em central telefônica (N igual a100) foram selecionados, a partir do CORPOBRAS PUC-Rio, para compor o corpus de aproximadamente 73.100 palavras. Considerando-se os estudos teóricos de gêneros na Linguística Sistêmico Funcional (Halliday e Hasan,1989), foi feita a descrição da Estrutura Genérica Potencial (EGP) desses dois gêneros do contexto empresarial. Para o estudo da Transitividade, os processos foram identificados e quantificados por meio do software Monoconc Pro (Barlow, 1999), usando-se as ferramentas Word List e Concordance, que indicaram a frequência e o uso de grupos verbais. O estudo dos elementos presentes na EGP das cartas e dos atendimentos mostrou que o foco das interações está principalmente voltado para a solicitação, a demanda, o problema ou a adesão. Nas cartas de reclamação, os processos verbais, relacionais e existenciais se constituem em escolhas recorrentes. O problema reclamado é o principal participante, para o qual o cliente solicita resolução, evitando confronto direto com a empresa. No atendimento em central telefônica, o cliente é participante experienciador que quer serviços e informações, havendo assim recorrência desse processo mental. A comparação da Transitividade na escrita e na oralidade evidencia a variação na criação de significados, sendo a solicitação mais formal e pouco autoritária nas cartas, enquanto nos atendimentos transparece uma disputa entre a pessoalidade, buscada pelo cliente, e a impessoalidade estabelecida pela empresa, por meio de práticas ritualizadas de linguagem. / [en] The objective of this research is to compare, from both a qualitative and a quantitative point of view, the realization in writing and speech of the Transitivity System. This System presupposes the choice of processes, participants and circumstances employed to express the internal and external world of a language user. The Systemic-Functional Theory that supports the proposal (Halliday e Matthiessen, 2004, Halliday,1994) is based not only on the notion that form is subordinate to function and on the idea that the internal organization of language takes place in terms of the functions language must perform in social life, but also on the relationship between text and context. The corpus for the research (approximately 73.100 words) is made up of letters of complaint (N equal 126) and call center contacts (N equal 100) selected from CORPOBRAS PUC-Rio. On the basis of theoretical studies of genre developed by Systemic-Functional Linguistics (Halliday e Hasan,1989), the Potential Generic Structure (PGS) of these two genres from the business context was described. In order to carry out the study of Transitivity, processes were identified and quantified with the help of the Monoconc Pro software (Barlow, 1999) employing the Word List and Concordance tools to indicate frequency and use of verbal groups. The study of the elements present in the PGS of letters and call center contacts has shown that the focus of interactions is mainly on requests, demands, problems or subscriptions. In the letters of complaint, verbal, material, relational and existential processes are recurrent choices. The reason for the complaint is the main participant for which the client requests a solution, avoiding direct contact with the company. In call center contacts, the client participates as Senser who wants services and information. As a result, recurrance of this mental process can be observed. A comparison of Transitivity in writing and speech shows the variation in the creation of meaning: in the letters, requests are more formal and less authoritarian whereas call center contacts show a clash between the personal approach adopted by the client and the impersonal one adopted by the company through ritualized language practices.

[pt] Essa tese examina o texto dos primeiros filósofos gregos, em especial os textos em fragmentos de Xenófanes e Parmênides. Faz-se necessário destacar que se lidará com os textos porque é muito comum, dado o estado incompleto de seus ipissima verba, os estudiosos tentarem superar as dificuldades de interpretação a partir de fontes secundárias e de interpretações de autores tardios. Deste modo, acabam separando não apenas a forma e o conteúdo de suas mensagens, mas também alienando estas mensagens mesmas dos contextos específicos em que foram emitidas. Para superar estes problemas, abordaremos os fragmentos destes filósofos a partir de seus próprios contextos e das formas específicas de comunicação que utilizaram. Sob esta perspectiva, será demostrado que suas doutrinas procuravam antes depurar e aperfeiçoar a linguagem e a tradição em que estavam inseridos do que oferecer uma reflexão sistemática, ainda que incipiente, sobre os princípios básicos da realidade. / [en] This thesis examines the texts of the first greek philosophers, especially the Xenophanes and Parmenides fragments. It s necessary to say that we will deal with the texts because it s very common, in face of the incomplete state of their ipissima verba, that scholars try to overcome the difficulties by reading secundary fonts and by interpretations of late-period authors. In this way, they not only separate the form and the content of the philosophers messages, but also alienate the messages from the specific context in which they were formulated. To overcome these problems, we will examine the philosophers fragments by their own historical context and by their concrete and specifics ways of communication. Under this perspective, it will be demonstrated that their teachings was more ocupied with an efforce to depurate and to improve the language and the tradition in which they were inserted than with a systematic although incipient refletion concerning reality s first basic principles.

[pt] Os processos de transmissão de memórias e uso do espaço urbano associados à experiência da migração constituem a base do presente trabalho que dirige sua atenção para a Feira de São Cristóvão, observada a partir das memórias em circulação por meio de folhetos de cordel, depoimentos e acervos pessoais de cordelistas nordestinos em atividade na cidade do Rio de Janeiro entre a segunda metade do século passado e a primeira década deste século. Por se tratar de uma manifestação cultural distanciada dos códigos hegemônicos no Sudeste do Brasil e, por sua vez, chave para o grupo frequentador do espaço em pauta, as vozes do cordel e dos cordelistas revelam-se de grande valor para a discussão de questões relacionadas à migração, à ocupação do espaço por grupos minoritários, à transmissão de memórias e aos diálogos interculturais, temas que, com o avanço dos processos de globalização cultural e valorização dos patrimônios culturais tradicionais, vêm se afirmando tanto no debate público quanto no debate acadêmico. / [en] Processes of memories transmission and urban space use associated with migration experience form the basis of this study that directs its attention to Feira de São Cristóvão, observed from memories in circulation through cordel booklets, oral testimonials and document’s collections of cordelistas migrated from the northeast of Brazil to the city of Rio de Janeiro between the second half of the last century and the first decade of this century. Because it is a cultural manifestation distanced from the hegemonic codes in the southeast of Brazil and, in turn, key to the group that frequent the studied space, the voices of cordel and cordelistas are of great value to the discussion of migration issues, occupation of space by minority groups, transmission of memories and intercultural dialogue, themes that, with the advancement of cultural globalization processes and the value of traditional cultural heritage, have been stating as much in public as in academic debate.

[pt] Este trabalho consiste em um estudo sobre a anorexia nervosa sob a ótica psicanalítica. Apresentaremos primeiramente um histórico do conceito, enfocando a trajetória desta patologia, que foi inicialmente rara e atualmente é encontrada na clínica com freqüência. Discutimos as contribuições trazidas pela psicanálise ao estudo e à clínica da anorexia nervosa através das diversas tentativas de explicá-la nessa perspectiva, embora este não seja um conceito psicanalítico. Abordamos ainda a relação entre a anorexia nervosa e a magreza como ideal de beleza contemporâneo sobretudo a ênfase que é atribuída ao corpo magro pela sociedade contemporânea e suas conseqüências psíquicas. / [en] This work consists of a study about anorexia nervosa from a psychoanalytical perspective. Firstly, we will present a historical view of the concept, focusing the trajectory of such pathology, which was originally rare and has become frequent in current clinical practice. We discuss the contributions brought by psychoanalysis to the study and clinical management of anorexia nervosa throughout its various attempts to explain it, even though anorexia nervosa is not a psychoanalytical concept. We also approach the relationship between anorexia nervosa and thinness as a contemporary beauty ideal, especially the emphasis assigned to the thin body in actual society and its consequences.

[pt] O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar os elementos não-lexicais, todavia produtores de sentido, na performance vocal dentro do campo da canção. Tomam-se como norte epistemológico os estudos do suíço Paul Zumthor, que, ao falar sobre voz poética, afirma que ela transcende a linguagem simbólica e manifesta suas qualidades materiais no tom, timbre, intensidade e demais elementos não linguísticos, porém expressivos e instauradores de presença. A pesquisa se desenvolve em torno de alguns desses elementos, buscando entender melhor como atuam, de que maneira se organizam e por meio de que parâmetros produzem diferenças e semelhanças que afetam diretamente a produção de sentido no âmbito da língua em seu estado musical. Paralelamente, adotou-se como conceito teórico-empírico a proposição do compositor e linguista brasileiro Luiz Tatit, para quem, no universo da palavra cantada, a eficácia da linguagem poética provém das potências da entoação. Assim, buscamos na investigação de aspectos sonoros relacionados à fala e à oralidade os elementos materiais que dão subsídio a nossas elucubrações teóricas e proposições estéticas. / [en] The purpose of this work is to identify and investigate non-lexical elements, however producers of meaning in vocal performance in the song field. We take as a starting point the studies of Paul Zumthor, a Swiss linguist, who, when speaking of poetic voice, states that it transcends the symbolic language and expresses its material qualities in tone, timbre, loudness and other sound elements that in spite of being called non-linguistics are significant and responsible for creating presence. We have developed our research around some of these elements, trying to comprehend how they act, organize and create similarities and differences that affect directly the creation of meaning in the language in its musical state. At the same time, we adopted as a theoretical and empirical concept the proposition of Luiz Tatit, a Brazilian songwriter and also a linguist, who advocates that the efficacy of the poetic language in the universe of song lyrics comes from the characters of the intonation. In this investigation of the sound elements, we intend to find sufficient material to subside our theoretical reflections and aesthetical propositions.

[pt] Esta dissertação se propõe criar uma estrutura capaz de responder às exigências teórico-críticas levantadas ao longo da pesquisa sobre Folias de Reis - manifestação popular inserida no campo das tradições orais, em constante movimento de integração às circunstâncias da cultura contemporânea. Com o objetivo de evidenciar cada uma de suas dimensões - verbal, performática, histórico-mítica e sócio-política - e explorar a riqueza interdisciplinar do objeto, experimentou-se a estrutura de uma tese-roteiro, com uma redação centrada em roteiro cinematográfico e desenvolvida a partir dos pontos de tensão entre criação artística e produção crítico-conceitual. / [en] This dissertation tries to build up a suitable structure so as to answer to the questions brought up during the research on the Feast of the Magi - oral tradition related to Christmas celebrations and maintained as a folk entertainment until today thanks to its interrelation with contemporary culture. The hybrid form of thesis-screen-play has been chosen in order not only to clarify adequately each of its dimensions - verbal, performatic, mythic, historical, social and political - but also to appreciate / explore the interdisciplinary wealth of this subject. The model of the screen-play has provided a basis for writing the argumentative text developing the conflict between artistic invention and conceptual-critic thinking.

[pt] Os griots são, na África Ocidental, os guardiões da memória. Numa sociedade baseada na oralidade, são eles os responsáveis por manter viva sua história e tradição. São os mestres das palavras e suas narrativas se fazem do encontro entre palavra, música e movimento. Na tradição oral africana, a multiplicidade é a forma de se relacionar com o saber. Esta dissertação é uma forma de aproximação da multiplicidade do mundo, de outras margens, e tem como objetivo refletir sobre uma poética do griot, sua performance, corpo, voz, memória e palavra - falada ou cantada. Além disso, este trabalho propõe uma reflexão sobre o outro como diferença, e a diferença como uma possibilidade de ampliação de nosso próprio entendimento, de nossa organização ética e estética. / [en] In Western Africa, griots are the guardians of memory. In a society based on orality, they are responsible for maintaining alive its history and tradition. They are masters of the spoken word and their narratives are based on the convergence between word, music and movement. Multiplicity, in the African oral tradition, is the way of conveying knowledge. The following dissertation is an effort to converge the multiplicity of the world, from other shores, and has as a goal to reflect about the poetics of griot, its performance, body, voice, memory and words – spoken or sung. Furthermore, this effort proposes a reflection on the difference of the “other” and of difference as a possibility of broadening our own understanding, of our organization, ethics and aesthetics.

[pt] O presente estudo descreve o uso de metáforas, de expressões da oralidade e de recursos narrativos, no telejornal brasileiro Jornal Nacional. Através da análise de sete programas, o estudo se dedica a verificar em que medida as metáforas encontradas compõem a narrativa, e em que medida estas metáforas aproximam o discurso da linguagem oral. Sugerimos uma relação sistemática entre a oralidade e a criação de intimidade e familiaridade, que dariam credibilidade ao telejornal. Este estudo também explora os recursos da narrativa que ajudam na sua coerência textual, tanto quanto na construção de um conjunto de crenças sociais, possíveis de se verificar no uso da linguagem. O estudo ainda aponta para um recurso narrativo cada vez mais comum no gênero telejornalístico, que é o cruzamento semiótico entre texto e imagem em determinados tipos de reportagens, nas quais o texto se refere a um objeto no sentido simbólico, metafórico, enquanto a imagem mostra este objeto no sentido literal, recurso discursivo que evidencia a consciência do jornalista no processo narrativo, o hibridismo com os gêneros poético e publicitário, e testemunham a ampliação de possibilidades narrativas do telejornal atual, idéia que norteia este trabalho. Ao final, apresentamos uma classificação das metáforas que poderiam ser consideradas as metáforas cotidianas do telejornal - e, portanto, da nossa vida social. / [en] This study describes the use of metaphors, oral expressions and narrative structures of the Brazilian TV news Jornal Nacional. Through the analysis of seven different news programmes, this study tries to verify in which extension the metaphors used structure the narrative and in which extension these metaphors approximate the TV speech to the oral speech. We suggest that there is a systematic relationship between the oral speech and the development of an intimacy and familiarity, which gives more credibility to the TV news. This study also explores narrative elements to show the use of the resources which help to bring textual consistency and operates in the construction of social beliefs, which can be verified in the use of the language. This research points to a narrative structure that is each time more common in the genre of television news, that is, the semiotic crossing between text and image, in specific kind of reporting, where the text refers to an object in a symbolic, metaphorical way, while the image shows this object in a literal way. This structure highlights the fact that the journalist is conscious of the narrative process; shows the mixture between poetry, advertising and journalism; and attests to the growing possibilities of narrative sources in today s TV news. That is the main idea that guides this research. At the end of the study, there is a list of the metaphors that can be considered the daily metaphors of the TV news - and therefore of our social life.

[pt] Este trabalho se propõe a discutir e analisar narrativas que constroem parte da história do Rio de Janeiro e, em particular, a constituição da comunidade que se divide entre as memórias do Morro de São Carlos e a tradição criada em torno do bairro do Estácio. Historicamente sem fronteiras significativas, o Estácio e o Morro de São Carlos parecem constituir um só corpo, em que pese o próprio relevo como um possível indicador de fronteira. A tradição de berço do samba, a criação da Deixa Falar, as escolas de samba do alto do Morro e o samba como síntese de tudo produzem uma memória coletiva que não se faz absoluta, mediante reivindicação de parcela da comunidade, pelo reconhecimento de uma suposta memória subterrânea. Da observação de um caráter transitório inerente ao lugar, das relações envolvendo gente, política, geografia, arte e cultura, e tendo a oralidade como fio condutor desta narrativa, o que propõe esta tese é tão somente contribuir com o acervo literário referente ao Morro de São Carlos, ao Estácio, à comunidade desses um só lugar e ao samba, como produto final que os imanta a todos. / [en] This work proposes to discuss and analyze narratives that build part of the history of Rio de Janeiro and, in particular, the constitution of the community that divides between the memories of the São Carlos Hill and the tradition created around the Estácio neighborhood. Historically without significant frontiers, Estácio and São Carlos Hill seem to constitute a single body, in spite of its own relief as a possible frontier indicator. The tradition of cradle of the samba, the creation of the Deixa Falar, the samba schools from top of the hill and the samba as synthesis of everything produce a collective memory, which is not made absolute because a part of the community claims the recognition of a supposed underground memory. From the observation of a transitional character inherent to the place, of the relations involving people, politics, geography, art and culture, and having orality as the guiding thread of this narrative, what proposes this thesis is only to contribute with the literary collection referring to the São Carlos Hill, Estácio, the community of these one place and samba, as a final product that keep them attracted to each other.

[pt] A figura dos Mestres Cantadores do Boi de Pindaré: Educação, Memória, Pertencimento e Oralidade investiga as práticas educativas dos dois Mestres formais do Boi de Pindaré: Mestre Castro e Mestre João do Sá Viana contadas através das narrativas identitárias deles e dos sujeitos que participam. As trajetórias dos mestres foram estudadas a partir de idas e vindas, em um processo de rupturas, suturas que é natural na identidade do ser humano. Destaca-se a importância desses Mestres cantadores como educadores não formais da cultura popular maranhense, pois, é através dos seus ensinamentos que são propagados os conhecimentos contidos na tradição do Bumba-meu-boi do Maranhão que possuí elementos populares repletos de significados e cheios de simbologias e as memórias e conhecimentos revelam uma rede de saberes construídos e reconstruídos, possibilitando assim, um olhar mais atento em relação a conexões e troca de saberes através da oralidade e das práticas pedagógicas que suscitam provocações e dialogismos. Neste contexto é estudado o papel feminino através do emponderamento das mulheres que fazem o Boi de Pindaré reconhecendo suas lideranças dentro dos núcleos que atuam e a visibilidade das suas ações como propagadoras da tradição. O Ensino não formal é realizado nos ensaios, durante as apresentações e principalmente no espaço educacional da Sede, que é aberto para toda a comunidade como um lugar social e cultural de convivência, de ensino e aprendizagem. Foram utilizados como metodologia a análise documental e a história oral, a partir de entrevistas com Mestres e brincantes do Boi de Pindaré. Conclui-se que esses Mestres cantadores desempenham um importante papel como educadores não formais da cultura popular maranhense, pois, é através dos seus ensinamentos que são propagados os conhecimentos contidos na tradição do Bumba-meu-boi do Maranhão que possuí elementos populares repletos de significados e cheios de simbologias, memórias e conhecimentos. A pesquisa revelou uma rede de saberes construídos e reconstruídos, que possibilitam conexões e troca de saberes através da oralidade e das práticas pedagógicas que suscitam provocações e dialogismos. / [en] Boi de Pindaré s masters: Education, Memory, Belonging and Orality investigated the educational practices of the two formal Masters of the Boi de Pindaré: Master Castro and Marter João do Sá Viana told through their identity narratives and of the subjects who participate. The trajectories of the masters were studied from comings and goings, in a process of ruptures, sutures that is natural in the identity of the human being. The importance of these Masters cannot be highlighted as non-formal educators of the popular culure of Maranhão because it is through their teaching that the elements contained in the tradition of Bumba meu boi of Maranhão are propagated, which were full of meanings and full of symbologies and as memories and knowledge revealed a network of knowledge built and reconstructed, enabling, an attentive relationship and exchange of knowledge through orality and pedagogical practices that arouse provocations and dialogism. In this context, the female role is studied through the empowerment of women who make the Boi de Pindaré, recognizing their leadership within the nuclei that act and the visibility of their actions as propagators of tradition. Non-formal teaching is carried out in rehearsals, during presentations and mainly in the educational space at headquarters, which is open to the entire community as a social and cultural place for coexistence, teaching and learning. Documentary analysis and oral history were used as a methodology, based on interviews with masters and players of the Ox of Pindaré. It is concluded that these singing Masters play an important role as non-formal educators of Maranhão popular culture, because it is throung their teachings that the knowledge, contained in the tradition of Bumba my ox of Maranhão is propagated, which has popular elements full of meanings and full of symbologies and memories and Knowledge. The research revealed a network of reconstructed knowledge, which enable connections and exchange of knowledge through orality and pedagogical practices that arouse provocations and diaologism.
