[pt] Este trabalho consiste em desenvolver e avaliar modelos
clássicos de
elementos finitos combinados com funções polinomiais
adicionais, para a
obtenção de cargas críticas de instabilidade e freqüências
naturais de estruturas
planas, com seus respectivos modos. O objetivo consiste em
buscar uma
sistemática confiável para obter estimativas de
deformações localizadas em
regime próximo ao colapso. Utiliza-se o método dos
Elementos Finitos em
combinação com o método clássico de Rayleigh-Ritz. Como
elemento
angular).
Tais matrizes
permitem estabelecer
problemas generalizados de autovalor para obtenção de
cargas críticas e
freqüências, e respectivos modos de flambagem e vibração.
Para os estudos
numéricos comparativos apresentados nos exemplos, são
implementadas diversas
rotinas usando o software Maple 9.0.
material. / [en] This work consists in developing and evaluating classical
of finite element
models combined with additional polynomial functions, to
obtain critical loads of
instability and natural frequencies of plane structures,
and respective modes. The
objective is to search for a reliable technique to get
estimates of localized
deformations near to collapse. The Finite Elements method
is used in combination
with the classic method of Rayleigh-Ritz. As a basic
element for such study, the
rectangular element of Barber-Weaver is used, containing
four nodes, each one
with two translations and two independent rotations
(equivalents to a rotation and
an angular distortion). This element is enriched with
additional internal
displacement functions and with functions on the boundary,
forming general
polynomial series. These nodal functions are incorporated
in the energy
expressions leading to the establishment of elastic
stiffness, geometric, and mass
matrices. Such matrices allow the establishment of
generalized eigenvalue
problems to obtain critical loads and frequencies, and the
respective modes of
buckling and vibration. For the comparative numerical
studies presented in the
examples, several routines are implemented using software
Maple 9.0. The results
show that the methodology presented herein can be used in
the development of an
applicable technique to the ascertainment of instability
in global and located
modes, when there is a combination of geometric nonlinear
and material effects.

[en] NONLINEAR VIBRATIONS AND STABILITY OF SHALLOW PYRAMIDAL TRUSSES / [pt] VIBRAÇÕES NÃO LINEARES E ESTABILIDADE DE TRELIÇAS PIRAMIDAIS ABATIDASCARLOS HENRIQUE LIMA DE CASTRO 25 February 2019 (has links)
[en] Spatial trusses in the form of a regular pyramid are a basic configuration of many structures, from carbon nanostructures to geodesic domes used as roof of large spaces. These structures, as the planar von Mises truss, present a highly nonlinear response when submitted to static and dynamic loads. The nonlinearity
is particularly significant when these structures are shallow, even when low load levels are applied. This paper presents a exact nonlinear formulation for a pyramidal truss made of n equal bars and analyze the loss of stability and nonlinear vibrations of the structure under static and dynamic loads. To understand to nonlinear behavior of the pyramidal truss, time responses, phase planes, bifurcation diagrams, energy profiles and basins of attraction are used. The results show the importance of the nonlinearity in the dynamics and stability of the structure.

[en] DYNAMICS OF SLENDER ONE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES USING COSSERAT CONTINUUM / [pt] DINÂMICA DE ESTRUTURAS UNIDIMENSIONAIS ESBELTAS UTILIZANDO O CONTÍNUO DE COSSERATFREDY JONEL CORAL ALAMO 12 March 2007 (has links)
a análise dinâmica.
equações do movimento.
contida numa cavidade uniforme.
[en] In this work, it is formulated and analyzed the static
equilibrium
and the dynamics for three dimensional deformation of
elastic rods. The
intrinsically one-dimensional theory that is employed,
which may be called
the special Cosserat theory of rods, is geometrically
exact, namely, it is
not based upon geometrical approximations or mechanical
assumptions.
For the rod deformation, it is adopted the Bernoulli
hypotheses and for
simplicity, the linear constitutive relations are
employed. The deformed
configuration of the rod is described by the displacement
vector of the
deformed centroid curve and an orthonormal moving frame,
rigidly attached
to the cross-section of the rod. The orientation of the
moving frame, relative
to the inertial one, is related by the rotation matrix,
parameterized by
three elemental rotations. In the sense of Cosserat
theory, the equations
of motion are nonlinear partial dfferential equations,
which are functions
of time and one space variable. For the static
equilibrium, however, the
equations become nonlinear ordinary differential equations
with one space
variable, which can be solved approximately using standard
techniques like
the perturbation method. After the static equilibrium
equation are solved,
the displacement functions are obtained. These nonlinear
displacement
functions, which are functions of generic nodal
displacements and rotations,
are used for dynamical analysis. To obtain the dynamics of
the Cosserat
rod, it is used the Lagrangian approach, formed from the
kinetic and
strain energy expressions. Furthermore, the equations of
motion, which
are nonlinear ordinary dfferential equations, are solved
numerically using
the Newmark method. As an application, a curved rod,
constrained to
rotate inside a hole, is investigated numerically and
experimentally. When
using the Cosserat rod approach, that take into account
all the geometric
nonlinearities in the rod, the higher accuracy of the
dynamic responses is
achieved by dividing the system into a few elements, which
is much less
than in the traditional FEM

[pt] ANÁLISE DA INSTABILIDADE DE ESTRUTURAS TIPO GRIDSHELL / [en] STABILITY ANALYSIS OF GRIDSHELLSERIC ALLONSO OLIVEIRA ALVES 21 September 2020 (has links)
[en] Gridshells are lightweight structures that combine efficiency and attractive architecture. Due to the fact that the load is mainly carried by compression, this type of structure is susceptible to buckling, thus the stability check is essential. This study investigated how certain factors influence the stability of this type of structure and targeted reference points for the designers. A parametric study was conducted through numerical simulations, in which it was investigated the effect of the presence of a cable net, the level of prestress on the cables and the effect of initial imperfections. The results showed a benefit from the adoption of the cable net as a reinforcement, increasing considerably the buckling load, as well as the natural frequencies of the system. However, a significant reduction of the buckling load and a change in the natural frequencies with the presence of the imperfection were observed. Thus, it was concluded that gridshells are highly nonlinear structures and sensitive to imperfections, so much in the static aspect as dynamically.

[en] NONLINEAR VIBRATIONS AND STABILITY OF SLENDER BARS WITH OPEN CROSS-SECTION / [pt] VIBRAÇÕES NÃO LINEARES E ESTABILIDADE DE BARRAS ESBELTAS DE SEÇÃO ABERTARENZO CAYO MANCILLA 14 November 2018 (has links)
[en] Due to its efficiency, thin-walled structural elements with open sections, such as I, L, C and Z profiles, are common in steel structures, being usual in engineering applications. Most thin-walled beams have a good flexural strength around of the principal axis of inertia, but a low one around the axis of lower inertia as well as low torsional stiffness. That is why these elements, generally, show instabilities that lead to flexural torsional coupling. Many of these structures do not work in a linear range and a non-linear formulation that takes into account large displacements and associated couplings is required. This dissertation presents a nonlinear model for extensional beams with thin-walled open section, considering large displacements, and flexural-torsional couplings. Initially a study of the natural frequencies, critical load and axial load vs. frequency relation is presented for different profile kinds. Based on these results, a detailed study of the dynamic behavior of non-linear profiles is made, highlighting the effect of non-linear coupling in the resonance region and its influence on the dynamic stability of the structure. For this, various tools of nonlinear dynamics are used, such as bifurcation diagrams, time histories and phase-space portraits and basins of attraction. The results show that the consideration of non-linear couplings is essential to availed the safety level of these structures.

[en] NONLINEAR FREE VIBRATIONS OF FUNCTIONALLY GRADED CYLINDRICAL SHELLS / [pt] VIBRAÇÕES LIVRES NÃO LINEARES DE CASCAS CILÍNDRICAS COM GRADAÇÃO FUNCIONALALEXANDRE ANDRADE BRANDAO SOARES 21 November 2018 (has links)
[en] Cylindrical shells are used in many engineering applications and, due to its shape and load carrying capacity, are frequently used in aerospace and civil structures. They minimize the amount of material from which they are manufactured, thus making it a very lightweight and slender structure. In recent decades, there has been a search for new materials that combine multiple properties such as increased strength, better thermal protection, corrosion protection and appropriate damping level, among others. A material that can meet several of these requirements simultaneously is the so called functionally graded material, where the material properties vary continuously in one or more directions. Functionally graded materials are particularly suitable for the construction of shells. As most of these structures are subjected to dynamic loads, it is important to study the dynamic behavior of shells made of functionally graded materials. The objective of this work is to study the nonlinear vibrations of slender functionally graded cylindrical shells. For this, the Sanders non-linear shell theory, which is considered one of the most precise theories for the analysis of slender shells, is adopted. Initially, the equations of motion are derived considering an initial stress state. Using the linearized equations of motion, the natural frequencies and critical loads are obtained. These results compare favorably with results reported in the literature for homogeneous and functionally graded shells. Then, using a modal expansion that satisfies the boundary and continuity conditions and expresses the modal couplings characteristic of cylindrical shells in the nonlinear regime, the equations of motion are discretized using the Galerkin method. The resulting algebraic equations are solved by the Newton-Raphson method, thus obtaining the nonlinear frequency-amplitude relation. Finally, a parametric analysis is conducted to study the influence of the geometry of the shell, the gradient of the functional material and vibration modes on the degree and type of nonlinearity of the cylindrical shell, which is the main contribution of this research work.

realizada in loco.
A idéia deste
trabalho é propor a otimização do projeto estático e

[pt] ACELERÔMETRO TRIAXIAL A REDES DE BRAGG / [en] TRIAXIAL BRAGG GRATING ACCELEROMETER03 September 2004 (has links)
medições a longas distâncias, imunidade a campos
[en] Since the end of the 1980s, the fiber optics industry has
experienced considerable advances. Through a number of
controlled techniques, fiber optics can generate signals
associated with a vast array of physical measures, working
as sensors denominated Optical Fiber Sensors (OFS s).
Many different techniques can be employed to achieve this
objective. Among these, the one based on Bragg networks
has received the greatest amount of attention. The
interest in transducers employing this technique is
justified by the advantages of using light, such as its
multiplexing capability, good signal-to-noise ratio,
possibility of long distance measurements, immunity
to electromagnetic fields, and absence of sparks. In the
present work, a transducer and measurement technique based
on Bragg network sensors vibration are developed, in order
to measure mechanical vibrations. A triaxial optical
accelerometer is designed and built. Different models are
tested in the search for the desired performance
characteristics. Numerical simulations employing the
finite element method help the decision making process for
better transducer designs. Results from experimental and
calibration tests using a newly developed signal
acquisition system are presented. Long duration
measurements to evaluate system stability and temperature
effects are also shown.

severos no
geograficamente extensas.
As
grandes extensões territoriais percorridas pelas linhas de
transmissão e a
variedade de climas, relevos, vegetação e condições
meteorológicas aos quais
estão submetidas dificultam qualquer trabalho de previsão
da ação do vento. A
imunidade das fibras ópticas a campos elétricos e
magnéticos e a possibilidade
[en] Overhead transmission lines play an important role on
electric systems.
Due to the high energy carried through those networks,
failures on overhead lines
can bring severe constraints on consumers supply,
occasionally taking the form
of blackouts in large geographic regions. Among the
reasons of such failures is
the breaking of electric cables caused by the fatigue
originated from cyclic
bending due to aeolian vibration. The large areas covered
by overhead lines and
the variety of climate, relief, vegetation and
meteorological conditions under
which they have to operate make it difficult to foresee
the impact of wind
Vibration measurements would allow anticipating the
failure but conventional
instruments depend upon electric transducers which,
besides demanding a local
source of energy (usually unavailable near overhead
lines), suffer the influence of
the high electric and magnetic fields around the energized
cables. Optical fibers
immunity against environments subjected to electrical and
magnetic fields and
the possibility of using low energy input signals offer
the alternative of creating
measuring instruments using Bragg gratings technique. This
Master dissertation
contributes with the development of a fiber Bragg grating
biaxial accelerometer
for measuring the vibration of overhead transmission line
cables. Besides the
theoretical and practical aspects related to the subject,
the results of high
precision calibration tests are discussed, together with
other special tests which
set the basis of the metrological evaluation and the
establishment of the efficacy
of the instrument.

[en] PENDULUM SYSTEM FOR THE PASSIVE CONTROL OF THE VIBRATIONS OF STRUCTURES UNDER BASE EXCITATION / [pt] SISTEMA PENDULAR PARA CONTROLE PASSIVO DAS VIBRAÇÕES DE ESTRUTURAS SOB EXCITAÇÃO DE BASE19 November 2021 (has links)
[en] The passive vibration control of buildings using pendulum absorber has been extensively studied in the technical literature and used in high buildings such as the Taipei-101 in Taiwan. Since the frequency of the pendulum depends only on its length and the acceleration of gravity, to tune the frequency of the
pendulum to that of the building, its length is the sole design variable. However, in many cases, the pendulum length and the space required for its installation are not consistent with the design. In these cases one can replace the classic pendulum with an equivalent pendulum system comprising a mass that moves on a curved surface, allowing greater flexibility in the absorber design as the length
of pendulum becomes irrelevant and the shape of the curved surface can be optimized. Because of the mass movement on the curved surface, new inertia and stiffness forces not found in the classic pendulum may appear. In the present work a pendulum system comprising a mass that moves through rolling bearings on a curved surface is proposed for control of the oscillations of structures under base excitation. This pendulum system has the advantage of being used both as a pendulum tuned mass damper (APMS) and as a base isolation pendulum system (IBP). As the pendulum system can, in certain cases, display large rotations, barriers which limit its movement are proposed, generating impact forces whose
efficiency in vibration control is here investigated.
