Towards a Unifying Visualization OntologyVoigt, Martin, Polowinski, Jan 13 April 2011 (has links) (PDF)
Although many terminologies, taxonomies and also first ontologies for visualization have been suggested, there is still no unified and formal knowledge representation including the various fields of this interdisciplinary domain. We moved a step towards such an ontology by systematically reviewing existing models and classifications, identifying important fields and discussing inconsistently used terms. Finally, we specified an initial visualization ontology which can be used for both classification and synthesis of graphical representations. Our ontology can also serve the visualization community as a foundation to further formalize, align and unify its existing and future knowledge.

Learning Description Logic Knowledge Bases from Data Using Methods from Formal Concept AnalysisDistel, Felix 29 June 2011 (has links) (PDF)
Description Logics (DLs) are a class of knowledge representation formalisms that can represent terminological and assertional knowledge using a well-defined semantics. Often, knowledge engineers are experts in their own fields, but not in logics, and require assistance in the process of ontology design. This thesis presents three methods that can extract terminological knowledge from existing data and thereby assist in the design process. They are based on similar formalisms from Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), in particular the Next-Closure Algorithm and Attribute-Exploration. The first of the three methods computes terminological knowledge from the data, without any expert interaction. The two other methods use expert interaction where a human expert can confirm each terminological axiom or refute it by providing a counterexample. These two methods differ only in the way counterexamples are provided.

Extended Version of Multi-Perspectives on Feature ModelsSchroeter, Julia, Lochau, Malte, Winkelmann, Tim 17 January 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Domain feature models concisely express commonality and variability among variants of a software product line. For separation of concerns, e.g., due to legal restrictions, technical considerations, and business requirements, multi-view approaches restrict the configuration choices on feature models for different stakeholders. However, recent approaches lack a formalization for precise, yet flexible specifications of views that ensure every derivable configuration perspective to obey feature model semantics. Here, we introduce a novel approach for clustering feature models to create multi-perspectives. Such customized perspectives result from composition of multiple concern-relevant views. A structured view model is used to organize feature groups, whereat a feature can be contained in multiple views. We provide formalizations for view composition and guaranteed consistency of the resulting perspectives w.r.t. feature model semantics. Thereupon, an efficient algorithm to verify consistency for entire clusterings is provided. We present an implementation and evaluate our concepts on two case studies.

Studium interakce organických molekul na kovem pasivovaných površích křemíku pomocí STM / Interaction of organic molecules with metal passivated semiconductor surfaces studied via STMZimmermann, Petr January 2019 (has links)
Title Interaction of Organic Molecules with Metal Passivated Silicon Surfaces Studied via STM Author Petr Zimmermann Department Department of Plasma and Surface Science Supervisor Doc. RNDr. Pavel Sobotík, CSc. Department of Plasma and Surface Science Abstract Organic molecules offer a wide range of optical, electronic or chemical properties. Coupling them to silicon could pave way to novel applications and devices, however, a controlled molecular functionalization of silicon remains challenging due to the presence of highly reactive dangling bonds on its surfaces. We attempt to decrease the reactivity of low index silicon surfaces with an ultra-thin layer of a metal adsorbates and study their interaction with organic molecules via scanning tunnelling microscopy. In the first part we investigate the interaction of ethylene, a small unsaturated molecule, with tin and indium 1D chains grown on Si(001) - 2 × 1. The chains consist of dimers structurally analogous to the dimers of the underlying Si(001) - 2 × 1 surface. Aided by photoelectron spectroscopy we find that the Sn chains are less reactive than the Si(001) surface and that the absence of a π dimer bond renders indium chains inert. In the second part we study the interaction of copper phthalocyanine, a small macrocyclic heteroaromatic compound, with the...
