O Teatro de Chico Buarque / The theater of Chico Buarque

Adriano de Paula Rabelo 13 May 1999 (has links)
This study intends to examine the theater by Chico Buarque as playwriting, broach its realization as dramatic spectacle, expose the critic’s judgements on the author’s texts and their most important putting on a show, relate his plays with the historical context of the 1968 to 1978 decade in Brazil. Observing the trajectory of the theater by Chico Buarque, this work delineates a panel of the conflitive relationships between the artists − who are engaged in an activity that requires liberty as principle and purpose − and the men committed to inflict censure and execute the official or lawless repression during the last military dictatorship in Brazil. This dissertation is composed by an introduction to the theme, five essays concerning to each dramatic work by the author and some final considerations.

[en] RE(DIS)ORGANIZING THE MOVEMENT: AN OUTLOOK ON BRAZILIAN POPULAR MUSIC DURING THE SEVENTIES / [pt] RE(DES)ORGANIZANDO O MOVIMENTO: UM OLHAR SOBRE A MÚSICA POPULAR BRASILEIRA NA DÉCADA DE 70

MIGUEL JOST RAMOS 16 October 2007 (has links)
[en] The central objective of this work is to critically discuss the production and reception of Brazilian popular music during the seventies. Opposite to what happened to bossa nova, tropicalism and the 80s rock movement, the reflections about this period of great importance in our music seem to be disperse and fragmented, not presenting the consistency of the analyses of the aforementioned movements. This consistency is not based on an homogeneous interpretation of the cases, on the contrary, the diversity of interpretations is what confers to them a privileged position at the Cultural Studies field in Brazil. The exact proposal of this dissertation is to join this disperse and fragmented theoretical-reflexive production about the 70s presenting one more voice, an outlook, a written body that somehow may intercede in the debates on Brazilian culture and its vitality at that moment. My proposal is to discuss questions that somehow affected the artists, audiences and critics of this decade, taking in consideration the specificity of a political context of authoritarism and violent restrictions of freedom of speech and opinion, whilst not accepting any form of determinist reading of this condition.

A poética de Domingos Pellegrini: leitura de As sete pragas / The poetics of Domingos Pellegrini: reading of As sete pragas

Silva, Alessandra Lacerda da 07 October 2016 (has links)
The following essay aims to present a study about the author Domingos Pellegrini and his poetics in the context of the 1970s literature in Brazil. Part of the research purpose is to raise and analyze the language construction of his work, the literary devices used and themes chosen by the author. For this, the focus is on the book As sete pragas (1979) and, through the use of literary theory based on concepts elaborated mainly by Antonio Candido to help analyze the short stories and nouvelles in the book. It thereby seeks to systematize the poetics of the author and, at the same time, present him as a literary writer of the 1970s. Besides the introduction, the research is organized into three chapters corresponding to the main themes. The book is organized by a division of genres, three short stories and three nouvelles, and this work reorganizes these narratives into two groups based on these themes: the first is about the power configuration of the female character in As sete pragas; the second, on other power relations, configured through the space occupied by men in the course of the narratives as a symbolic representation of the late capitalist system in Brazil; and finally, the third presents a comment about two moments of the author\'s work (1979 and 2007), by making reference to the interview for this thesis, which is reproduced in the Annex. The following essay aims to present a study about the author Domingos Pellegrini and his poetics in the context of the 1970s literature in Brazil. We have tried to observe how the dynamic Brazilian economy, in which the Companhia Sider?rgica Nacional (the most important steel mill in the country) has been an important protagonist, since its creation in the 1940?s, related to the ways in which this company engendered its labor force, in clash with workers mobilizations. The most important landmark in this trajectory, after the democratic years (1945-1964), is the fracture caused by the 1964 state coup in the relationship between workers and company. The changes in CSN social policies, as well as the transformations in the economic policies implemented by the new regime, would be subject to a confrontation between different interpretations formulated by distinct agents involved in this process. In our case study, Volta Redonda, we could identify as important actors involved in the social dynamics of those years ? for example, the military ? interpreted the impacts of the coup on the working class. In the other extreme of the process, we have examined the workers experience in the town, in decade of 1970?s, looking for the rearticulation of their identitary references, after those changes in the general context, that indicate the new fractures and amalgamations inside the class occurred from that moment on / Este trabalho ? uma tentativa de articula??o entre as propostas da hist?ria social do trabalho e uma hist?ria social urbana.

Insubordination ouvrière en Argentine (1973-1976) : contribution à l’élaboration d’un « cinquième récit » des années 1970 / Worker insubordination in Argentina (1973–1976) : contributing to a “fifth reading” of the 1970s

Thomas, Jean-Baptiste 03 December 2014 (has links)
Until the coup of March 1976, the 1970s were characterised in Argentina by a dramatic increase of social conflict in general, and of worker conflict in particular. This situation, which was initiated by the Cordobazo of May 1969, goaded the military regime of the Argentinian Revolution. The return to power of the Peronists in 1973, after 18 years of proscription, could not stop the deepening conflict. It continued after Juan Domingo Perón’s death, and throughout Isabel Perón’s period in power. In 1975 it led to the first ever general strike in Argentinian history, which was orchestrated against a justicialist government: the Rodrigazo. Simultaneously, in the most radical sectors of the workers’ movement, coordination and self-organisation structures (the Coodinadoras) began to appear. This work covers the constitutional period from May 1973 to March 1976, and focuses on the widening rift between Perón and the workers and the population at large. It aims to contribute to a “fifth” reading of the 1970s in Argentina by positioning itself at the crossroads between social history and labour history, and basing itself on mainstream and militant press coverage of the time and oral history. Unlike the four historiographical readings which have predominated since 1976 (the “military reading”, the “two demons theory”, the “renewal reading”, and the “kirchnerist reading”) this work aims to analyses the conditions from which the social conflict emerged, the different ways in which it expressed itself, its crystallisation through various forms of organisation and self-organisation, and also the role played by the radical left in the process.

Housing an illegitimate aristocracy : an urban profile of a coloured community in Greenwood Park from the 1950's to the 1970's

Francis, Lynette Crysta-Lee 01 1900 (has links)
There is no historiography on Durban coloureds . This work is an attempt to change that . This dissertation is an urban study of a small coloured community in Greenwood Park (GWP) during the apartheid era - a study in which housing is used as a vehicle to examine this community's response to their changing economic and socio-political status from the 1950's to the 1970's. Because of the absence of historical data , this study relies heavily on the contributions of other social sciences . It also uses oral data to fill the many gaps in the story of this marginal group . Chapter 4 and 5 explores housing as a complex physical and social phenomenon. Chapter 6 explores the GWP community's response to their housing environment . In this chapter, the association between housing and socio-economic status is explored . From 1950 to the l 970's, housing became the single most defining entity which kept coloureds trapped in the vortex of privilege and oppression . / History / M. A. (History)
