Omar, Aisha, Sadikovic, Sanela January 2023 (has links)

Even if late freedom": Agnes Heller and the theory of "radical needs" in front of the devassa of the brazen devassa

No. of bitstreams: 1 Renato Tadeu Veroneze.pdf: 2998041 bytes, checksum: bb21bd29bbc98e93306236ef0e99a59b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-04-13 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The research aims to analyze "radical needs" in Agnes Heller's view as a contribution to understanding the cyclical and structural crises of capital, in the face of the wave of popular demonstrations and the political-economic crisis of the recent years that has affected Brazil, in particular. The choice of theme stemmed from the contradictions generated by these crises from the recognition of the values of freedom, democracy, equality, equity and social justice, in view of the principles established by its ethical-political-professional project of the Brazilian Social Service. In order to understand the limits and the personal, social and professional contradictions between the subjectivity and the objectivity of the individual and collective social subjects, as well as the social and professional limits and contradictions of the work of Agnes Heller, especially in her everyday life, lack and needs theories, and how to broaden the understanding of freedom and social and human emancipation that mark the emancipatory and revolutionary project of Social Service, having as motto a new sociability "beyond capital". The hypothesis raised here is that "radical needs" provoke the organization of civil society to overcome the status quo of social life tied to the destructive logic of capital, in order to understand the dynamics of social movements and popular manifestations, especially in Brazil, as a mobilization of resistance against the Brazilian political-economic crisis and the macrocorruption scheme that has been established in the country's political and economic system. Through a theoretical-conceptual analysis, based on the Marxian legacy and the Marxist tradition, we start from the thesis that it will only be possible to demolish the existing barriers between working time and non-working time, through the organization of civil society revolutionary subject. Only in this way will revolutionary social changes be realized for the anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist struggles. It is in this direction that Agnes Heller points to a new collective revolutionary subject. The "radical needs" are all those that are born in capitalist society as a consequence of the development of civil society, and that can not be satisfied within the limits of the same, which implies in factors that can lead to the overcoming of capitalism, the wage relationship, the concentration of private property, the class struggle and the loss of the bourgeois state. Only on these bases, of a totally new sociability, we do believe that social individuals can fully develop themselves ("wholly and entirely"), in which work, sociability, consciousness, freedom, ethics, art, philosophy, truly free time and idleness are in conformity with the most authentic aspirations raised within the everyday life and in the valuation of the feeling of community as an ontological-social value. We start from these assumptions because, with the precarization and flexibilization of labor relations, outsourcing, globalization, robotics, new technologies, the increase of the service sector, among other vectors, have caused significant changes in the social body of the working class and in their leadership. Thus, in Agnes Heller's view, it is only with the organization of civil society that it will be possible to destroy the overwhelming and destructive wave of capitalism / A pesquisa trata de analisar as “necessidades radicais”, na visão de Agnes Heller enquanto contribuição para entender as crises cíclicas e a estrutural do capital, frente à onda de manifestações populares e a crise político-econômica dos últimos anos que tem afetado, sobretudo, o Brasil.

Anne Brontë's New Women: Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall as Precursors of New Woman Fiction

Phillips, Jennifer K. 08 1900 (has links)
Anne Brontë's Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall were published more than forty years before the appearance of the feminist type that the Victorians called the “New Woman;” yet, both novels contain characteristics of New Woman fiction. By considering how Brontë's novels foreshadow New Woman fiction, the reader of these novels can re-enact the “gentlest” Brontë as an influential feminist whose ideology informed the construction of the radical New Woman. Brontë, like the New Woman writers, incorporated autobiographical dilemmas into her fiction. By using her own experiences as a governess, Brontë constructs Agnes Grey's incongruent social status and a morally corrupt gentry and aristocracy through her depiction of not only Agnes's second employers, the Murrays, but also the morally debauched world that Helen enters upon her marriage to Arthur Huntingdon in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Moreover, Brontë incorporates her observations of Branwell's alcoholism and her own religious beliefs into The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Although Brontë's novels contain autobiographical material, her heroines are fictional constructions that she uses to engage her readers with the woman question. Brontë accomplishes this engagement through her heroines' narrative re-enactments of fictional autobiographical dilemmas. Helen's diary and Agnes's diary-based narrative produce the pattern of development of the Bildungsroman and foreshadow the New Woman novelists' Kunstlerromans. Brontë's heroines anticipate the female artist as the protagonist of the New Woman Kunstlerromans. Agnes and Helen both invade the masculine domain of economic motive and are feminists who profess gender definitions that conflict with dominant Victorian ideology. Agnes questions her own femininity by internalizing the governess's status incongruence, and Helen's femininity is questioned by those around her. The paradoxical position of both heroines anticipates the debate about the nature and function of art in which the New Woman writers engaged. Through her reconciliation of the aesthetic and the political, Brontë, like the New Woman novelists who will follow, explores the contradiction between art and activism.

Wandering Women in Cinema, from Julie to Star: Female Subjectivity and Female Spectatorship in Feminine Road Films

Sun, Xueling 01 January 2017 (has links)
This paper serves to explore how female subjects are represented in films featuring a woman on the road in ways that can create a female gaze, as an alternative to the male gaze. It looks for answers in four films from the 1970s to 2016, all made by female filmmakers, which are Je, Tu, Il, Elle (1974), Vagabond (Sans Toit Ni Loi) (1978), Wendy and Lucy (2008) and American Honey (2016). All four films share approaches that reject objectification in the depiction of females, but each is distinctive in their filmi strategies. Focusing on each work individually while attempting to make comparisons with others, this paper also aims to connect the shift of strategies in these works to the related discussion in feminist film theories.

Supports the thesis that professors trainers perform constituents actions of their pedagogical practices maintening objectifications in itself (of own particularities of man, as an individual). This complicate their actions, because it inhibits a praxis that raise the coverages of a reflection on theoretical components present in the profession practice necessary for the achievement of the movement of producer?s thoughts of objectifications to itself (genericity characteristic of social man, as a collective). This examination is being carried out in the research line of Technologies in Education in Science and Mathematics of the Graduate Program in Education in Science and Mathematics (PPGEDUCEM), of the Catholic Pontifical University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) in the period in which it was held the Split PhD program in UTAD (University Tr?s-os-Montes de Alto Douro), in Portugal. Methodologically is a qualitative research with documentary sources and bibliographic references in which structured questionnaires were used as an instrument of data collection. Forming its strategy an Integrated Multiple Case Study, Yin (2015). The theme delimitation provided to analyze the professor?s pedagogical practices of eighteen Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), being eleven of Brazil, six in Portugal and one of Spain, in the relative period to the first semester of 2017. Masters, Doctors, Post Doctors professors were selected, who work with the initial and continuing training of teachers, these HEIs, preferably researchers in the area of teacher training. For the justification were performed four mappings, according to the pedagogical practice, teacher training and the use of the Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDIC), complex issues. At the end of these searches were made of the State of the art, on the pedagogical practice with use of TDCI, held in the teachers? training, in the last decade, in Brazil. The data analysis resulted from the use of Discursive Textual Analysis of Moraes and Galiazzi (2011), which culminated in emerging categories, presented in the form of metatexts for posterior and conclusive submission to the theoretical categories of Agnes Heller (1970). The journey of the research lies in the dialectic materialism that figures appropriations and requests that occur an intentionality focused on the production of contributions, in this case, for the pedagogical practices docents of teacher trainers. Thus, it was developed the following research question: What are the characteristics cited by teacher?s trainers concerning its pedagogical practices that evidence from these everyday actions and not daily? These characteristics demonstrate the presence of the elements of the Helleriana Theory of Daily Life in the pedagogical practices of teachers trainers, which denote the character of objectifications (in-itself; for itself), described the actions of the professors of the participating countries. The theorization result required of an Integrated Multiple Case Study, in this research strategy was performed under the analysis? units relative to the teaching pedagogical practice, the use of TDIC and the teacher training. For this reason, it was elaborated, in the end, a metatext cross-case where has shown a predominance of characteristic of daily life analogy; in both blocks and the lower incidence fell on intonation. The prevalence of these objectifications have direct impact on the practices and their recognition becomes a contribution to the processes of formation, whether initial, either continued, so the consciousness of objectifications provides the teacher trainer, a constant reformulation and refreshment of its pedagogical practices what intentionally and gradually becomes the actions of teachers in training. Furthermore, the Theory of Daily Life is also as a benchmark for elaboration of pedagogical practices thereby enabling an assessment of the levels of contained moral elevation, in these actions through the presence of criteria for interpreting the findings in its content. This contribution with a bias for a theoretical referral is essential to the result of a research that has by strategy the Integrated Multiple Case Study.

Reinhardt, Martin, Richter : Colour in the Grid of Contemporary Painting

RISTVEDT, MILLY MILDRED THELMA 28 September 2011 (has links)
The objective of my thesis is to extend the scholarship on colour in painting by focusing on how it is employed within the structuring framework of the orthogonal grid in the paintings of three contemporary artists, Ad Reinhardt, Agnes Martin and Gerhard Richter. Form and colour are essential elements in painting, and within the “essentialist” grid painting, the presence and function of colour have not received the full discussion they deserve. Structuralist, post-structuralist and anthropological modes of critical analysis in the latter part of the twentieth century, framed by postwar disillusionment and skepticism, have contributed to the effective foreclosure of examination of metaphysical, spiritual and utopian dimensions promised by the grid and its colour earlier in the century. Artists working with the grid have explored, and continue to explore the same eternally vexing problems and mysteries of our existence, but analyses of their art are cloaked in an atmosphere and language of rationalism. Critics and scholars have devoted their attention to discussing the properties of form, giving the behavior and status of colour, as a property affecting mind and body, little mention. The position of colour deserves to be re-dressed, so that we may have a more complete understanding of grid painting as a discrete kind of abstract painting. Each of the three artists I have examined here employed colour and grid in strategies unique to their work and its purposes. Ad Reinhardt arrived at his 1960s “black” paintings out of a background that included strong political beliefs, resistance to the dominant strain of 1950s Abstract Expressionism, and a deep interest in eastern religions and Buddhism. Agnes Martin shared Reinhardt’s interest in Buddhism and eastern religions, but chose to move toward the light in the atmospheric colour of her paintings, speaking of the quest for perfection of the mind in her writings and interviews. Gerhard Richter’s colour charts, a longstanding major subset of the vast range of this prolific artist’s work, speak to a need to go beyond his love of painting to the ungraspable substance of colour itself. / Thesis (Master, Art History) -- Queen's University, 2011-09-27 12:34:58.813

Observing the general precepts of materialistic-dialectic method, this work researched the consciousness' development of pre-schoolers in pedagogical activities, which were performed in a Brazilian's institution for early education. Analysing the dialectics of humanisation and alienation ongoing the educational work, adopted the historical-cultural theory and the daily theory like approaches to discuss a concrete psychology. The field research focused a classroom of pre-scholar education, executing the proceedings: interview, observation and experiments. The analysis methods intended to highlight the production of meaning through discursive practices. Results indicate the interaction between concrete and abstract meanings concerning the spontaneous teaching, inside a daily vision of childhood. Memory and attention have became the most important superior functions developed by pedagogical activities. Reinforcement, imitation and unfolding of human relations in a group's hierarchy were the principal processes which mediated the individual's formation. Concerning the motivational results, children learned from their teacher to wish the hegemonic values, which also mediated the relations with their little fellows. Such processes have underlied their moral, cognitive and emotional development, featured for submission taught by adults. Like final contribution, the field analysis was related to the Brazilian's education and were discussed general implications of this research for educational and psychological work.
