Marketing policy is considered critical for competitiveness of the family agribusiness. Its efficiency is a result of the performance of several chain links. The aim of this study is to analyze the marketing policy process of the family agribusiness on the industrial chain of brown sugar and the reflection on its practicability. The analyses were supported by the concepts of agribusiness production chain, quality, marketing, and competitiveness, and empirically live on the experiences of two firms, whose information was obtained by mean:, of unstructured interviews with some components of the chain. They were examined through contents analysis, participant observation, and bibliography. Objective and subjective quality of the product and qualification of workers involved in the production and marketing processes, as well as available infrastructure of marketing are the guide spindles for analysis. It follows that, among the main constrains and/or enhancers, the family agribusiness on the industrial chain of brown sugar is not stable when it comes to product quality (standards, records, packaging, etc); the lack of professional qualification in the segments, especially concerning market knowledge, makes competitive efficiency impossible; infrastructure of marketing (transportation, storage, communication, points of purchase, etc.) is not intra-linked or linked with the market, and firms still work traditionally. Attention at those matters in the interest of marketing policies amounts to a condition for the practicability of a family industrial chain of brown sugar in the studied region.

Previous issue date: 2014-12-04 / This dissertation aimed mainly at understanding the relationship between agribusiness and education, taking as territorial clipping region of Ribeirão Preto - SP. Starting from the transformations of capitalist agriculture and the world of work this goal was divided into two complementary analytical perspectives, the first boils down to understanding how the agribusiness expresses the current ideology of capitalism in the countryside and the school uses space to persuade and convince society that their particular values are universal. The completion of this stage of the research occurred through examination of two projects developed in basic education in the area of study: Agribusiness Project at the School of the Brazilian Agribusiness Association of Ribeirão Preto (ABAG- RP) and the Project AGORA of Industry Union sugar cane (UNICA). In a second step we investigated whether the material conditions for the expansion of higher education in agribusiness and pedagogical proposals that give them support, based on the proposed curriculum degree in Agribusiness Technology in the Faculty of Technology of the State of São Paulo - FATEC. The research was grounded in the dialectical historical materialism in all its stages, from the analysis of the development of capitalism in the countryside in the region of Ribeirão Preto, passing through the understanding of the concept of ideology in the writings of Marx and Engels, Lenin, Gramsci and Althusser to the examining the relationship between work and education. The results show a new phase of development of capitalist relations of production, with further deepening of the contradictions and inequalities in the field. In this sense, agribusiness looking through different ideological apparatuses, including education ensure social support to continue having access to state credit and infrastructure policies. In addition, these changes are require technical training and special professional for the activities of the sector, whose state's role is crucial in the internalization of the costs of reproduction of the classification of a diverse workforce and ideologically subject to the rule of capital.

Previous issue date: 2007-02-09 / This thesis aims to analyse if the Brazilian higher education system in agribusiness is offering
appropriate development according to the needs of a series of sectors that outline the national
agroindustrial companies. In order to achieve the designed objectives in this research, this
study was developed in four subjects. The first subject is related to search the professional
profile that has being requested by several agents of the national agribusiness. The second
concerns about the identification and characterization of the knowledge and skills that have
been mainly transmitted through the university degrees in the agribusiness field in Brazil. The
third subject aims to compare the requested profile demanded versus the current academic
profile proposed in the investigated university degrees in order to identify the professionals
that are not in line with the market demands of our system in relation to the needs of many
evaluated segments and more specifically pointing to the knowledge groups and abilities that
are more necessary to be provided in the programs that are not regulated to the current
requirements. After these steps it was verified that the biggest part of this problem was related
to the skills and knowledge in communication as well as the interpersonal skills, which are the
major concern of the companies, but are hardly stimulated in the evaluated programs. Thus,
aiming to stimulate theses skills and expertise in the undergraduates we propose achievements
through the concept of competence on the Brazilian higher education in agribusiness area. For
that reason the fourth subject of this research can be validated by this case study done in three
different courses in the Wageningen University in the Netherlands, in order to better
understand how the competence-based profiles are currently being developed leading the
syllabuses in Dutch higher education in the sense of supporting the undergraduate
professionals concerned to the agro industrial market requirements. It is true that is not
sufficient for the new generation of professionals in this area to be experts in several different
areas of the knowledge. It is important to prepare professionals who are able to respond to the
actual demand of the Brazilian agro industrial market, and that are able to solve different
problems in their areas making efforts to reduce the differences between the greater number
of unemployed highly educated professionals and the lack of qualified professionals in
companies.
A terceira parte confronta o perfil exigido
A partir destas etapas,

Previous issue date: 2011-12-07 / Brazil is the second greatest world producer of eggs; the production value of the egg ranks 13th among the agricultural products in the country. The Brazilian export of eggs is still incipient, but, the production potential is great since there are positive points such the climate, space, input availability and technology. It was aimed through this work to report the functioning, to investigate the role of the several economic agents and identify the critical determinants of the competitiveness of the production chain of the egg in the state of São Paulo. The methodology utilized was done through the evaluation of the competitiveness drivers with the aid of questionnaires, ascribing values of very unfavorable, neutral, favorable and very favorable to a series of sub-factors. Seven competitiveness drivers of greatest impact in the sector were selected, namely: firm management, technology, inputs, market structure, chain governance, infrastructure and institutional setting. Out of these factors were ascribed sub-factors which were evaluated and advised the survey and the analysis of the results. By means of the rapid appraisal methodology were interviewed key-agents of the chain as well obtained data in secondary sources. The interviews were directed towards the agents of the production chain link and agents of the sectoral organization of the state of São Paulo. It follows that the drivers who contribute towards the competitiveness of the production chain of eggs were both technology and firm management which have the control degree by the firm while the others remain neutral, not contributing to competitiveness. The cost of inputs, mainly the corn and the freight value, were sub-factors unfavorable to the production chain.

The behavior of the production costs of coffee, sugar cane, corn and soybean in relation to
sales price, can provide tools for management controls to agricultural producers. The
objective of this study is to investigate how it was this behavior in these cultures, in relation to
the selling price or gross revenue. For this, it was used the data s costs and gross revenues
from the yearbook of Brazilian agriculture whose name is Agrianual and analyzed period was
from 1999 to 2008. It has applied at the cost s variables, the statistical test of Kolmogorov-
Smirnov (Lilliefors) in order to verify the normality of the data. Subsequently, it was
calculated the correlation coefficient of Spearman for data whose distribution was not normal
and the Pearson s correlation coefficient when data s distribution was normal. The objective
of the correlation´s tests was to consider whether data were correlated linearly. After that, it
was calculated the coefficient of determination, whose defines how a variable cost is
explained by the variable gross revenue, and also obtained the linear regression equation in
order to determine the dependency between variables with the standard error of estimate. The
results showed that, for the formation s period of all analyzed cultures, the costs of
"seedlings" and "planting material" were the variables that provided the better explanation
for the price variable. At other times it was found that several variables in production costs
were linearly correlated and could be predicted with the gross revenue, thus can providing
the rural farmers, means to plan their budgets and a method for analysis of costs.

Regulação ambiental, competitividade e padrões de comércio internacional no setor do agronegócio / Environmental regulation, competitiveness and patterns of international trade in the sector of AgribusinessFeix, Rodrigo Daniel 25 August 2008 (has links)
Organized in two articles, this dissertation makes an investigation to clarify the links between international trade and environment in general and in the case of the agribusiness sector, in particular, focusing mainly on the issue of competitiveness. In the first article, initially there was a review of theoretical issues pertaining to economic interfaces between agriculture, environment and trade, and comparative analysis of the main methods used to study these links. Then, special attention was devoted to identifying the mechanisms by which policies to promote environmental sustainability in the agribusiness sector can affect prices, trade and social welfare. Finally, were explored the policy implications that are derived from the study of the Brazilian case, concluding by the need to construct an agenda for research site for the theme. The second article can be seen as an empirical test for the Agribusiness of antagonistic positions advocated by economists followers of the traditional approach for followers of the possibility of Porter with regard to the impacts of the tightening of environmental regulations on international standards of commerce. This analysis was conducted by the adequacy of the H-O-V model to allow for the inclusion of variables representing the environmental performance of the countries examined. The results show that net exports of agricultural products classified as environmentally sensitive can be positively or adversely affected the second sector and environmental indicator in question.
