Although Jung's publications contain references to a great number of authors who wrote about the subject, some of them ended up becoming the main characters used by Jung to voice his psychological understanding of alchemy, as well as in the connections found between lab work and Analytical Psychology. Dorn's studies, The Speculative Philosophy and The Meditative Philosophy in special, were of great relevance when Jung defended his thesis about the role of the unconscious process during the alchemical opus. Moreover, the alchemist work became important for Jung's analysis concerning the process of matter transformation – stating that it would actually be the projection of an inner psychological development. Regarding Jung's last work on alchemy, the beliefs found in Dorn's treaty were then used to add the final alchemical shape to one of his most important concepts: the individuation process. With this goal in mind, we approached alchemy at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th as the starting point for this paper, contextualizing Jung's understanding and analyzing the methodology he used in his own studies. Part of this paper is also dedicated to a brief analysis of Gerhard Dorn's work by using the work of some historians of science as our reference. We also sought after themes within Jung's publications in which the alchemist would have used as a way to ground his Jungian hypothesis, in special the importance Jung gives him by claiming Dorn to be one of the first to study the process of individuation. At last, the final chapter is dedicated to the analysis of how Dorn's ideas worked in the constitution of this final concept / A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida no âmbito da História da Ciência, a partir da hipótese que a obra de Gerhard Dorn (1530/35-1584) teria desempenhado importante papel na fundamentação de conceitos centrais sobre a interpretação de Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) da alquimia. Embora nas publicações de Jung encontremos referência ao trabalho de inúmeros autores que trataram da alquimia, alguns deles acabaram por figurar como personagens principais, sendo utilizados por Jung para dar voz a sua interpretação psicológica da alquimia, assim como nas relações que acabou por estabelecer entre o trabalho de laboratório e a psicologia analítica. Os estudos de Dorn, em especial os tratados A Filosofia Especulativa e A Meditativa Filosofia foram de grande relevância na defesa de Jung de suas teses sobre o papel dos processos inconscientes durante o opus alquímico. Em especial, a obra do alquimista tornou-se importante para a análise de Jung de que o processo de transformação da matéria seria, na verdade, a projeção de um desenvolvimento psicológico interior. Ainda, na última obra de Jung sobre a alquimia, noções contidas nos tratados de Dorn foram então utilizadas para dar os contornos alquímicos finais a um de seus mais importantes conceitos, o processo de individuação. Partindo deste objetivo iniciamos este estudo a partir dos debates sobre a alquimia no final do século XIX e inicio do século XX, situando a interpretação junguiana dentro deste contexto e analisando a metodologia aplicada por Jung em seus estudos. Também dedicamos parte deste trabalho a uma breve análise sobre a obra de Gerhard Dorn, tendo como referencial o trabalho de historiadores da ciência. Ainda, buscamos nas publicações de Jung os temas, nos quais, o alquimista teria sido utilizado como forma de fundamentação das hipóteses junguianas, destacando o papel que Jung lhe atribui como um dos precursores nos estudos sobre o processo de individuação. Por fim, dedicamos o último capítulo a uma análise sobre a aplicação de Jung das ideias de Dorn na formulação final deste conceito

Apesar de não poder ser provada por experimentos alquímicos, a filosofia mecânica de Boyle é corroborada por eles e os mesmos tiveram grande importância na refutação das formas substanciais e qualidades reais da escolástica. Os experimentos alquímicos tornam-se importantes na medida em que é necessário elucidar como eles são usados na defesa do mecanicismo boyleano. Visando auxiliar a compreensão dos mesmos, foram analisados aqueles que Boyle julgava mais aptos para esse fim, assim como a tradução química para a correspondente linguagem da química contemporânea / Abstract: The goal of this thesis is to demonstrate that there is no opposition between Robert Boyle's alchemy and mechanicism. Despite the fact that Boyle's mechanical philosophy cannot be proved by alchemical experiments, it is supported theoretically by them and they had great importance in the refutation of the scholastic's substantial forms and real qualities. The alchemical experiments are important since is necessary to elucidate how they were used to defend the boylean mechanicism. G. Jung (1875-1961), foi quem se dedicou ao estudo da alma humana através de imagens de sonhos, mitos e símbolos da cultura, por acreditar que a atuação do inconsciente se dá através de várias formas de expressão. O processo de criação segundo Jung diz respeito à tradução feita pelo artista de imagens primordiais, vindas espontaneamente do inconsciente, para a linguagem do presente. Ao criar uma obra de arte, o artista transforma sua conexão com o inconsciente em algo acessível a todos, possibilitando que cada um de nós possa também estar reconectando consigo mesmo. Desta forma é que é considerado que o cinema pode atuar como fonte de projeção e transformação interna do indivíduo. O cinema, como qualquer forma de expressão humana, oferece total condição para que elementos culturais se expressem, mesmo quando utiliza elementos arcaicos da cultura que não se alinham aos transmitidos pela tradição corrente. Este é o caso da alquimia e por este motivo ela foi escolhida como foco do trabalho. O desafio proposto foi olhar para o cinema procurando por estes elementos e o resultado foi uma forma de resgate da antiga alquimia em produções humanas atuais. Nesta dissertação analiso quatro filmes como ilustração da discussão principal: A Festa de Babette, Navigator, uma Odisséia no Tempo, Um Beijo Roubado e Stalker. Foi utilizada uma abordagem que, ao mesmo tempo em que procura identificar uma imagem dentro do imaginário tradicional, pretende ser respeitosa no que diz respeito à dimensão simbólica inatingível da obra de arte / Abstract: Among the theoreticians that sought a wider view of the human being in relation to worldwide cultural manifestations, C. G. Jung (1875-1961), chose the study of the human soul through dreams, myths and cultural symbols, because he believed the unconscious acted through several expression forms. The Cinema, as other forms of human expression, offers a good medium for the expression of cultural elements, even when it uses archaic elements that are dissimilar to those transmitted through tradition. This is also the case of Alchemy, which therefore was chosen as the focal point of this Dissertation. We revisited, thus, alchemy through moving pictures. According to Jung, the creative process is related to the translation, made by the artist, of primordial images, spontaneously originated in the unconscious, to the contemporary language. When an artist creates a work of art, she transforms her connection to the unconscious into something accessible to everyone, making it possible for us to also reconnect to our own selves. In that way, we can consider the cinema as a source of projection and internal transformation of the individual. In this dissertation I discuss alchemy through the illustrative analysis of four movies: "Bebette's Feast", "Navigator, a Medieval Odissey", "My Blueberry Nights" and "Stalker". The approach used was to search for images of the movie within the traditional imaginary at the same time as due respect was paid to the unattainable symbolic dimension of the works of art / Mestrado / Mestre em Multimeios

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study investigates the imaginary in Metal rosicler by Cecilia Meireles, one of her last books which was published in 1960. The aim is to analyze the relation of this book and the structures of alchemy imaginary. As well as the spiritual alchemists searched for the transmutation of insignificant metal in order to make it possible for men to reach the enlightenment, in Metal rosicler there is the attempt to go through an ontological search by linking the poetic to the alchemy symbolism, then as it happens in the alchemy process, it reveals itself in the rosicler (the color of a rose). Started by poetry, the search indicates the transmutation of the black stone- the raw rosicler metal- revealing from the depth a hidden and sublime essence in alchemy rosicler. Such essence is the meaningful reason for the search because it represents the desirable entirety in coincidentia oppositorum, and also the integration of the opposites of androgeny. Thus, the transformation may only be completed by performing the phases and the steps in the alchemy ritual: mortification in the nigredo, the abstract ideality in the albedo leading to the whole life of red color in the rubedo. All the symbolism untwines itself before the mitocriticism of poems which is based on contributions of critique about imaginary and alchemy, such as: the imaginary anthropology, according to Gilbert Durant`s work; phenomenology of poetic, as stated by Carl Gustav Jung studies. The theoretical instrument purposed by Durand e Bachelard concerns the imagination s dynamic creation and the strength of myths in peoples representative productions throughout the years. Imaginary philosophy of alchemy is based on Jung s deep psychology perspective which considers the relation between the alchemy symbolism and the process of individualization of human being in the search of entirety of himself. Mitocriticism work reveals the constellation of images which is a response for the alchemy poetic of the book, how the symbols imbricate the imperishable into ephemeral; the nocturnal images which join life and death; images of the air, the water, and the land which brings in the transcendence; dissolution in the nigredo and molding the androgynous, besides the mithemes of Hermes-Mercury in the alchemy become, the symbols of mortification of black stone and the sublimination of rosicler in the rubedo. Therefore, such journey reveals, in poems, the poetic melting pot of transmutation where the lyrical itself searches the spiritual entirety in the extraction of rosicler. / Este estudo explora o imaginário de Cecília Meireles em Metal rosicler, sua penúltima publicação em vida, no ano de 1960. O objetivo é investigar o liame da obra com as estruturas do imaginário alquímico. Assim como os alquimistas espirituais buscavam a transmutação dos metais vis para que o homem alcançasse a iluminação, em Metal rosicler, o eu-lírico empreende uma busca ontológica, entrelaçando o poético ao simbolismo alquímico, a fim de obter, tal como no processo da alquimia, o desvelamento do si mesmo, que se daria no rosicler. Encetada pela poesia, essa busca emblematiza a transmutação da pedra negra o metal rosicler bruto desentranhando, ao final, a essência oculta e sublimada do rosicler. Tal essência fundamenta o sentido da busca, pois ela representa a desejada totalidade na coincidentia oppositorum, ou, ainda, a integração dos opostos na androginia. Nesse sentido, para efetivar a transformação cumprem-se as etapas do ritual alquímico: a mortificação na nigredo, a idealidade abstrata na albedo culminando na vida plena do vermelho na rubedo. Todo esse simbolismo desenreda-se mediante a mitocrítica dos poemas que se funda nos aportes da crítica do imaginário e da alquimia, quais sejam: a antropologia do imaginário, segundo os trabalhos de Gilbert Durand; a fenomenologia do poético, consoante as pesquisas de Gaston Bachelard, e a filosofia da alquimia, conforme os apontamentos de Carl Gustav Jung. O instrumental teórico proposto por Durand e Bachelard referenda o dinamismo criador da imaginação e a força diretiva dos mitos nas produções representativas da cultura de todos os tempos. Por sua vez, a filosofia imaginária da alquimia apóia-se na psicologia profunda de Jung que relaciona o simbolismo alquímico ao processo de individuação do ser em busca da totalidade no si mesmo. No pormenor, o trabalho mitocrítico revela uma constelação de imagens que responde pela poética alquímica do livro, como os símbolos que imbricam o imperecível no efêmero; as imagens noturnas que articulam a vida e a morte; as imagens do ar, da água e da terra que instalam a transcendência, a dissolução na nigredo e a modelagem do andrógino; além dos mitemas de Hermes-Mercúrio no devir alquímico, os símbolos da mortificação da pedra negra e da sublimação do rosicler na rubedo. Assim sendo, tal jornada desvela, no espaço dos poemas, o cadinho poético da transmutação onde o eulírico busca sua inteireza de espírito na extração do rosicler. / Mestre em Teoria Literária

La tesis estudia la historia de Argentina en relación con la obra de Ernesto Sábato. El trabajo intenta a través de la historia del país sudamericano y la lectura de la obra de Sábato llegar a conclusiones que permitan explicar los hechos sucedidos en diciembre del 2001 en Argentina. Para ello, la tesis lleva a cabo un estudio mítico de la historia de Argentina en el que destaca el realizado sobre la figura del emigrante, héroe de las novelas de Sábato, a quien se compara con Caín. Por tanto, Caín, Abel y el Dios judío, Yahvé, serán los personajes fundamentales estudiados en esta tesis para comprender el destino de la Argentina y de la obra de Sábato desde un punto de vista mítico, místico, simbólico y religioso. / The thesis studies the history of Argentina in relation to the work of Ernesto Sábato. The work tries, though the history of the south american country and the reading of the work of Sábato, to search conclusions that allow to explain the facts happened in December of 2001 in Argentina. For it, the thesis carries out a mythical study of the history of Argentina in which it emphasizes the made one on the figure of the emigrant, hero of novels of Sábato, to that it compares with Caín. Therefore, Caín, Abel and the Jewish God Yahvé, will be the fundamental personages studied in this one thesis to understand the destiny of the Argentina and the work of Sábato from a mythical, symbolic and religious point of view.
