Kompaktní město - aneb co nového se může ještě dít v Brně mezi nádražími / Compact Town - or what new is able to yet be done in Brno among railway stations

Novosad, Ondřej January 2009 (has links)
Urban-architectural study of the new city part between the current and the future main station in Brno. The study is focused on creating a new concept of urban area as an alternative to the present intention based on the actual city plan. The main impulse to update the building layout of this developing municipal area is the integration of the new city high-speed railway. The particular attention is drawn to the utilization of two levels of the urban area originating from different levels of terrain and train yards. The integral part of the space arrangement on the principle of a compact city is also the application of theory and the observation of the tenable city. The core of the concept is the programmed structure of buildings density which is interlaced with the network of public transport and private atria. Within the frame of this structure two urban projects have been developed in details. Firstly, it is the placement of new Janaček´s centre of musical art at the place of reconstructed Svratka bank in the south part of the area. The other motive is the concept of the stop of a speed train in the very centre of this area. The stop features the central square and is involved in the complex of the congress centre. All this area is completed with the concept of a new municipal spa. The programme of the whole study is to complete city areas with facilities and functions which are considered to be absent. The quality of the project can be assessed, compared to the city plan of Brno.

Förebyggande arbete mot narkotikaanvändning bland ungdomar : En kvalitativ intervjustudie utifrån ett samverkansperspektiv / Preventive work against drug use among young people : A qualitative interview study based on a collaboration perspective

Helge, Ewelina, Börjesson, Vilma January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to, through qualitative interviews, contribute to a deeper understanding of how collaboration between human-treating organizations, which work preventively against drug use among young people in X-municipality, continues in practice. Therefore, we also want to investigate how this collaboration is experienced within four human-treating organizations. These are the police, social services, field group and student health team at school in X-municipality. This was done with the help of nine qualitative interviews in semi-structured form. The results of the interview material were analyzed using organizational theory and previous research. From the results, we could see that collaboration is perceived as an important phenomenon where the organizations collaborate to some extent, but not as much as they would like. Where organizational factors such as regulations, personal interaction and different approaches to the social problem affect the extent to which cooperation takes place.

Perceptions about Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria: A Qualitative Study of Young Adults Age 18-24

Archibong, Mfon Archibong 01 January 2016 (has links)
Despite the ongoing investments in programs to increase sexual health awareness among young adults globally, many youths remain vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Two-thirds of all STDs occur among youths engaging in high-risk sexual behaviors, which put young adults at higher risk of STDs and can result in serious consequences including infertility. Additionally, the social consequences of STD affect families and communities. While a need exists for increased public awareness of STDs among young adults, extant intervention and prevention activities should be informed by a cultural perspective, including the integration of community and government roles. The purpose of this social ecological study was to investigate the perceptions of STDs and the potential factors responsible for the increased frequency of STDs based on the lived experiences of 20 young adults with STDs in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Through a qualitative approach using a phenomenological research design, this study employed semi-structured interviews, and the resultant data were analyzed and coded. The findings indicated that college-aged students increasingly engaged in sexually risky behavior with multiple sexual partners for financial gain and power. Additionally, while institutions promoted abstinence as an effective strategy to reduce STD infections, the findings indicated a strong relationship between the phenomenon and individual interconnectedness with the larger society. Because the sexual behavior of young adults in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, is influenced at multiple ecological levels, effective and sustaining culturally appropriate STD interventions must involve the larger society including young adults in all stages of intervention development and implementation.

Lidé se zdravotním postižením a internet / People with disabilities and the Internet

Nováková, Lenka January 2020 (has links)
199 7. ABSTRAKT The goal: The goal of this work was to clarify the ways the social work is presented and how the forum for physically afflicted persons is created on the web portal "Lidemezilidmi", run by a company "Dobre misto", z.s. Additional intent was to show the specifics of mental illnesses and problems, connected with these illnesses, with which the clients (patients) contact this web portal most frequently. Methodology: based on the questionnaire, distributed by the company "Dobre misto", z.s., with the support from the Norwegian Fonds in connection with a project "Information Activity", the intent is to reform the psychiatric care. Results: all together, 130 valid replies were returned. Conclusion: the lives of people with disabilities, caused by illness, injury, or a genetic disposition, have one thing in common - with the mental health come social complications, problems at work, troubles in relationships, etc. However, the stories of individuals with mental and social problems vary widely. Mental illness, unlike physical disability, is not apparent at first glance, although it often causes problems to the affected person. Psychiatric patients are still discriminated against in the health and social care system, and are viewed by the public with suspicion and concern. The mission of the...

Hur upplever transpersoner utmaningar i relation till sin identitet och vad kan främja att identiteten får blomstra?

Berglund, Tim, Eneroth, Johanna January 2021 (has links)
Background: Unconscious and conscious discrimination of transgender people is presented as a problem in human care professions by Discrimination Ombudsmannen (DO). Previous research proves problematic factors that affect the well-being of the target group. Purpose: To use the transgender people's own statements and thereby see factors relevant to their identity. The exploration of social and / or psychosocial factors gave us the opportunity to draw conclusions about what can prevent discrimination in the professional treatment as a social worker. Method: Documentaries with a co-creation between journalist and transgender person gave us coding of trans identity. Content analysis was applied to interpret themes in the statements from the documentaries. Results: We identified two domains that capture identity-challenging and identity-promoting factors that affect transgender people's state of life. These factors also affect the transgender individuals’ experiences of conflicts between their own identity and social norms. Conclusion: There is a gender dichotomous way of dealing with transgender people that causes them to be negatively affected. Support from relatives and the community are contributing factors to the living conditions of trans people. Future studies should focus on finding more contributing factors as these provide clues to professional treatment that prevents discrimination.

Evangelicals encountering Muslims : a pre-evangelistic approach to the Qu'ran

Johnson, Wesley Irvin 05 1900 (has links)
This thesis looks at the development of Protestant and Evangelical encounter with Muslims from the earliest days of the Modern missions movement. Special attention is given to the dynamic equivalence model (DEM), which resulted in a new method for interpreting the Qur’an called the Christian Qur’anic hermeneutic (CQH). I begin with the early Protestant ministers among Muslims, such as Martyn and Muir. Pfander’s (1910) book, The balance of truth, embodies the view that the Qur’an teaches an irrevocable status of inspiration for the Old and New Testaments. The early and mid-twentieth century saw a movement away from usage of the Qur’an during Evangelical encounter with Muslims. Direct model advocates bypass the Qur’an and other religious questions for an immediate presentation of the gospel. The 1970s saw the development of the DEM, which produced significant changes in how Evangelicals encountered Muslims. Pioneers like Nida, Tabor, and Kraft implemented dynamic equivalence as a model in Evangelical ministry. Concurrently, Accad and Cragg laid groundwork for the CQH. The DEM creates obscurity in anthropology by promoting an evaluation of cultural forms as essentially neutral. This is extended to religious forms, even the Qur’an. Such a simple, asocial value for symbols is not sufficient to account for all of human life. Cultural forms, especially those intrinsically religious, are parts of a complex system. Meaning cannot be transferred or equivocated with integrity from one context to another without a corresponding re-evaluation of the entire system. Theological difficulties are also produced by the DEM and the CQH, and include the assigning a quasi-inspirational status to the Qur’an and a denial of unique inspirational status to the Christian Scriptures. If the gospel is communicated through the Qur’an, then it is difficult to deny some level of God-given status to it. Further, the Christian Scriptures are not unique as inspired literature. My proposal for how to use the Qur’an responsibly looks to Bavinck’s elenctics and is presented as Qur’anic pre-evangelism. Rather than communicating Biblical meaning through the Qur’an, Evangelicals can focus on areas of the Qur’an that coincide with a lack of assurance felt by Muslims in anthropology. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D. Challenges facing black managers regarding upward mobility in corporate South Africa

Matandela, Wanda 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MBA (Business Management))--University of Stellenbosch, 2008. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The study identifies the problem of job mobility among black managers in corporate South Africa, which is due to various factors explored in this research. The central theme of this research is to highlight the major challenges faced by black managers in the corporate sector to upward mobility. An extensive review of the literature, including legislation, textbooks, journal articles, internet and existing case studies has been conducted. A questionnaire survey of black managers who were members of the Black Management Forum was conducted with a view to gaining insight regarding key issues faced by black managers in corporate South Africa. Black managers surveyed came from different sectors of the economy, operating at different levels of management, from junior to top management. The results from the survey were analysed, and showed that black managers do not get proper organizational support, training and development to enable them to perform their duties and reach their maximum potential. Other issues from the survey findings include racial discrimination, lack of mentorship and support from top management, marginalization, tokenism, lack of career planning. These all present major challenges facing black managers seeking upward mobility in the workplace. Several recommendations are made on how to reduce the negative impact for both organisations and black managers caused by job-hopping resulting from these obstacles faced by black managers in the workplace. These include creating a working environment that is inclusive, where every employee feels recognised and valued for his or her efforts. Furthermore, it is recommended that organizations promote an environment that embraces diversity of cultures, where all employees are treated equally and fairly with due regard to their constitutional rights to equality and dignity. The author also suggests that organizational core values must reject unfair discrimination and promote tolerance of the different cultures and behaviours that exist within the organisation. It is further suggested that for these recommendations to work in practice, transformation must be a primary objective of the organisation. This must be accompanied by a change of mindsets and attitudes, and supported by management. ”Vi kanske glömde ställa frågan till killarna…”- Skolkurativt stöd till killar med självskadebeteende: Definition, problembild och förståelse / “Perhaps we forgot to ask boys the question…” – School counsellor support for boys who harm themselves: Definition, view of the issue and knowledge

Kalici, Rudina, Wimarsson, Evelyn January 2014 (has links)
The main purpose for this study was to examine how boys with destructive and self-harming behaviour are perceived and comprehended by school counsellors and literature. The study assessed how boys who harm themselves are defined both in practice and in theory by using a social constructivist point of view and a gender perspective. The study was divided in two parts concerning gathering knowledge of the matter. The authors, using a method called qualitative semi-structured interviews, interviewed nine school counsellors. To acquire scientific knowledge, the authors implemented a literature review and researched books and journal articles regarding boys who self-harm. An essential discovery is that boys, who self-harm, have a tendency to be overlooked and excluded from the issue. This is mainly depending on how these boys often express their feelings by acting out their emotions in a physical manner. It is socially acceptable for boys to be extroverted, to be louder and use bigger gestures while girls are introvert and emotional human beings. This is depending on social expectations on each gender and the qualities and behaviour that are associated with being either male or female.
