Héritière d'un mode de vie désormais considéré comme folklorique et marquée d'une profonde cicatrice symbolique laissée par son passage du monde ouvrier au monde bourgeois, la narratrice des récits d'Annie Emaux témoigne d'événements personnels, sociaux et historiques qui auront bouleversé sa vie. Récit de soi, autofiction ou document sociologique, les critiques ne s'entendent pas sur l'espace que devrait occuper l'oeuvre d'Annie Ernaux au sein de la littérature contemporaine. Délaissant le champ de l'analyse de contenu pour s'intéresser à la forme des récits, la présente étude se propose d'établir une syntaxe du texte permettant d'aborder l'œuvre sous le jour de ses composantes structurelles les plus signifiantes. Notre corpus sera composé de La place, Une femme, Passion simple, Journal du dehors, « Je ne suis pas sortie de ma nuit », La honte et L'événement. Cet ensemble présente, au plan de la forme, une continuité qui permet de retracer les correspondances entre écriture et récit, signifiant signifié, parole et histoire. Pour ce faire, plusieurs théories littéraires seront mises à contribution : la narratologie et la théorie de l'énonciation permettront d'abord de saisir la densité présente dans chacun des deux espaces textuels que nous définirons au premier chapitre; une fois le texte ainsi schématisé, il nous sera possible d'y poser un regard plus englobant en définissant certains effets de lecture entraînés par les particularités narratives étudiées. Nous replacerons finalement l'œuvre dans son contexte historique à l'aide du concept de vision du monde de Goldmann.

The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the usage of photography in Annie Ernaux’s The Years. We explain the relationship between photography and memory and history through theories proposed by Liz Wells, Roland Barthes and Susan Sontag and explain the importance of photography as a narrative tool, as used by Ernaux. We discover how the collective memory of France is embedded in the memories of the narrator, and how the ekphrasis of photos helps uncover these memories and historical changes in order to express Ernaux’ explicit goals with the text – to “express the lived dimension of History”.

Titre de l'écran-titre (visionné le 5 juin 2023) / Par une analyse sociolittéraire des récits La place (1983) de Annie Ernaux et Un amour impossible (2015) de Christine Angot puisant aux théories de Pierre Bourdieu et Didier Eribon, ce mémoire propose d'analyser l'importance que possède la honte dans l'écriture des deux autrices. Pour les deux protagonistes, l'éloignement du milieu familial pour aller vers les cercles de la bourgeoisie provoque un séisme qui mettra à mal des relations autrefois sereines. Par un retour généalogique permettant de cerner l'origine de la honte, l'analyse du phénomène de passation qui traverse les générations permet de voir les constantes négociations entre soumission et résistance à la classe dominante. Puis, une étude de la transformation de la prise de parole montre comment la honte cerne les êtres dans une posture d'hypervigilance et d'auto-censure. Finalement, l'engagement littéraire des autrices, dont les modalités varient, se rejoignent dans une visée commune de faire d'une matière vécue une offrande littéraire intelligible à l'expérience d'autrui.

The four largest newspapers in Sweden, Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet, all have different political stands, but does it affect their reporting on different parties and their leaders? In 2013 and 2014 two of the nine party leaders in the Swedish parliament, Riksdag, were female, Annie Lööf (Centre Party) and Åsa Romson (the Green Party). This study examines the differences between the reporting on these two politicians in four newspapers and how they are portrayed using quantitative content analysis and framing analysis. Earlier studies by Kent Asp have shown that the Green Party (Miljöpartiet) is the most popular party among Swedish journalists, which could mean that the party is overrepresented and gets a special treatment in the media. In contrast, the Centre Party (Centerpartiet) is among the least popular among Swedish journalists and could therefore risk to be underrepresented. This study also researches if the portrayal of these two party leaders is in any way connected to their gender, as previous research shows that women politicians are treated differently to their male colleagues. Topics like family, private life and their appearance are often discussed instead of their work. Lastly this study investigates if there are differences in reporting between an election year, 2014, and a regular year, 2013. Our study shows that the political stands of the newspapers have an effect, even if only slight, on the reporting. Furthermore, Miljöpartiet does not get a special treatment as one might think, it’s rather the other way round. We found that the reporting on Annie Lööf and Centerpartiet was far more positive than the reporting on Åsa Romson and Miljöpartiet. We could not see that the reporters treated these politicians specially based on their gender, contrary to earlier studies. Finally, we found out that the newspapers focus on the party leaders rather than the parties themselves, which corresponds to the tendency of personification discussed in previous research. / De fyra största nyhetstidningarna i Sverige, Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter och Svenska Dagbladet, har olika politiska ståndpunkter, men påverkar det deras rapportering av olika partier och deras partiledare? 2013 och 2014 var två av de nio partiledarna i Sveriges riksdag kvinnor, Annie Lööf (Centerpartiet) och Åsa Romson (Miljöpartiet). Den här uppsatsen undersöker skillnaderna mellan rapporteringen av dessa två politiker i fyra nyhetstidningar och hur de porträtteras, genom kvantitativ innehållsanalys och framing analysis. Tidigare studier av Kent Asp har visat att Miljöpartiet är det mest populära partiet bland svenska journalister, vilket kan betyda att partiet är överrepresenterat och får specialbehandling av medier. Tvärtemot är Centerpartiet bland de minst populära partierna bland svenska journalister och har därför en risk att bli underrepresenterade. Den här studien undersöker också om porträtteringen av dessa två partiledare på något sätt är kopplad till deras kön, då tidigare forskning visat att kvinnliga politiker behandlas annorlunda än deras manliga kollegor. Ämnen som familj, privatliv och deras utseende diskuteras ofta istället för deras jobb. Slutligen så undersöker denna studie om det finns några skillnader i rapporteringen mellan ett valår, 2014, och ett vanligt år, 2013. Vår studie visar att den politiska ståndpunkten hos tidningarna har en effekt, om än bara liten, på rapporteringen. Dessutom får Miljöpartiet ingen specialbehandling som man kunnat förvänta sig, utan det är snarare tvärt om. Vi såg att rapporteringen om Annie Lööf och Centerpartiet var långt mer positiv än rapporteringen om Åsa Romson och Miljöpartiet. Vi kunde inte se att reportrarna behandlade dessa politiker annorlunda baserat på deras kön, till skillnad mot tidigare studier. Slutligen såg vi att nyhetstidningarna fokuserar på partiledarna istället för själva partierna, vilken stämmer överens med tendenserna för personifiering som diskuterats i tidigare forskning.

Cette recherche a pour but d’interroger la femme et ses multiples voix dans l’oeuvre d’Annie Ernaux, écrivain célèbre pour avoir nourri ses romans de sa propre vie. Grande figue de l’autobiographie, Annie Ernaux n’a de cesse de mettre en mots, dans un style singulier, son histoire, ses racines, le contexte socioculturel dans lequel elle a grandit, et surtout, d’interroger la figure féminine. Ses oeuvres sont à la fois récits littéraires et documents sociologiques d’une vie ancrée dans son siècle et ses repères, comme pour rappeler le rôle essentiel de la femme dans la famille ainsi que dans la Cité. This research aims to study Annie´s work on women and their multiple voices, Annie Ernaux is a famous writer who has enriched her novels through her own life experiences. A big figure in autobiography writing, Annie Ernaux has a unique style of writing. She addressed her history, her roots, and the social cultural context in which she grew up. She especially interrogates the feminine figure. Her works are both literary accounts and sociological documents of a life rooted in another centuries values and standards. She recalls the essential role of women in the family and in the city, questioning motherhood, sexuality, parenting, and the relationship between man and woman. Ce travail vise à interroger les représentations de l’espace urbain dans trois oeuvres successives, soit le roman Un homme qui dort de Georges Perec, le Journal du dehors d’Annie Ernaux et le roman Dans le café de la jeunesse perdue de Patrick Modiano. Il met en regard une évolution de l’image de Paris dans la littérature de la fin du XXe et du début du XXIe, avec un roman des années soixante, un journal englobant les années quatre-vingt et quatre-vingt-dix et un autre roman contemporain. Usant du champ de la sociocritique, le mémoire soutient l’hypothèse d’une altérité fondamentale de l’espace urbain dans les trois oeuvres, suggérée par les multiples discours narratifs. Les changements urbanistiques liés à l’émergence du consumérisme, comme la modernisation des transports, le réagencement des quartiers ou l’agrandissement de Paris poussent personnages et narrateurs à un réinvestissement sémantique de l’espace urbain. Celui-ci passe par une question : comment la ville pourrait être autre? L’étude se penche donc sur le « choc » du sujet dans la ville tel qu’abordé par Benjamin, sur son rapport ambigu au passé et à une mémoire collective parisienne et sur la capacité des narrateurs à renouveler leur pratique de la ville pour se l’approprier. / This thesis analyzes the urban space representations, as expressed in Un homme qui dort by Georges Perec, Journal du dehors by Annie Ernaux and Dans le café de la jeunesse perdue by Patrick Modiano. It highlights a conflicted and moving parisian imagery during the second half of the XXth century, with one novel from the late sixties, one diary written between the eighties and the nineties and one contemporary novel. This is aiming to show a striking coherence between the studied works. This sociocritical analysis focuses on the otherness suggested by multiple narratives in the city. The changing urban landscapes, which are caused by new types of public transportations or renovated and new neighbourhoods, are related to consumerism. It leads characters and narrators to semantically reinvest in their city. This brings them inevitably to a question: how could the city be radically different? How can they find and suggest its otherness? The thesis deals with the subject’s “shocks” in the city, as expressed by Walter Benjamin, as well as with his ambiguous relationship with the past and collective memory and also with the narrators’ ability to renew their urban experiences.

Cette thèse a pour but d’étudier l’écriture du journal chez Annie Ernaux à partir de sept textes diaristiques : Journal du dehors, « Je ne suis pas sortie de ma nuit », La Vie extérieure, Se perdre, le « photojournal » d’Écrire la vie, L’Atelier noir et Regarde les lumières mon amour. Ces journaux se différencient par leur forme et par leur fond : journal intime, journal externe, journal d’écriture et photojournal. Ils entretiennent également des liens avec les textes littéraires de leur auteur. Nous nous sommes intéressé tout d’abord à leur poétique, en partant du cadre théorique de la forme journalière pour analyser leur transcription du temps, leur structure fragmentaire et la figure de la diariste. Puis nous avons étudié le rôle triple joué par la pratique diaristique chez l’auteur : le besoin de conserver une trace du vécu et du fait social, l’aide psychologique au quotidien et la découverte de soi. En dernier lieu, nous avons analysé les résonances des journaux dans les différents textes de notre corpus, les liens les unissant aux extraits intimes parus dans des revues littéraires, de même que les rapports entre journaux et récits, tant par leurs thématiques que par leur conception et le recours à la photographie. Notre étude montre ainsi toute l’importance jouée par le journal dans la vie et le travail littéraire d’Annie Ernaux. La forme diaristique lui est en effet indispensable pour retracer son existence, garantir sa vérité et accompagner ses projets d’écriture. / This thesis aims to study the diary writing of Annie Ernaux from seven diaristic texts: Journal du dehors, “Je ne suis pas sortie de ma nuit”, La Vie extérieure, Se perdre, “photojournal” in Écrire la vie, L’Atelier noir and Regarde les lumières mon amour. These diaries are differentiated by their forms and their contents: intimate diary, impersonal diary, literary diary, and photojournal. They also have links with the literary works of their author. We were interested first of all in their poetics, based on the theoretical framework of diary form in order to analyze their time transcription, their fragmentary structure and the diarist’s figure. Then we studied the triple role played by her diaristic practice: the need to keep a record of personal experience and social facts, the psychological assistance in daily life and the self-discovery. Finally, we analyzed the resonances in the texts of our corpus, their links with diary fragments published in literary journals, as well as the relationship between diaries and literary works, in their themes, their conception and the use of photography. Thus our study shows the diary’s importance in the life and the literary work of Annie Ernaux. The diaristic form is essential for her to trace her existence, guarantee her verity and accompany her writing projects.

Ett bokformgivningsprojekt som visar färg- och formteorierna i boken Thought Forms (1905) som ett tidigt konst- och designteoretiskt verk. Boken Thought Forms (1905) av Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater är en teosofisk bok som presenterar ”tankeformer” som visar hur tankar och känslor ser ut för den klärvoajanta. Boken tros ha inspirerat abstrakta konstnärer som till exempel Vasilij Kandinski och Hilma af Klint som båda var medlemmar i det teosofiska samfundet. Genom en serie på tre böcker presenterar jag färg- och formsystemen i Thought Forms som ett tidigt konst- och designteoretisk verk. Projektet är lika delar en undersökning av känslor och andliga idéers påverkan på formgivning som ett ut utforskande av bokformens påverkan på läsningen av ett innehåll. Projektet består av tre handgjorda böcker som presenterar bilderna, förgläran och formerna ur Thought Forms: Deconstructing Thought Forms: The Figures Deconstructing Thought Forms: The Colours  Deconstructing Thought Forms: The Shapes / A book design project that shows the theories of color and form in the book Thought Forms from 1905 as an early of art- and design theoretical work. The book Thought Forms by Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater is a theosophical book that shows "thought forms". Colourful shapes formed by thoughts and feelings, only visible for the clairvoyant. The book is believed to have inspired abstract artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Hilma af Klint, who were both members of the Theosophical Society. Through a series of three books, I present the color and shape systems from Thought Forms as an early art and design theoretical work. This project is both an investigation of the influence of emotions and spiritual ideas on design as an exploration of the book designs effect on how we receive a content.    The result is a series of three books: Deconstructing Thought Forms: The Figures  Deconstructing Thought Forms: The Colors Deconstructing Thought Forms: The Shapes

Ce projet de création-recherche s’inscrit dans une démarche parathéâtrale menée de 2006 à 2012 à travers les ateliers du théâtre de recherche et performance LeTHAL (Le Theatre de l’Homme Actor’s Laboratorium). Le présent mémoire a pour objectif d’approfondir le questionnement sur le potentiel de guérison du théâtre, plus spécifiquement celui de l’image archétypique et des actions rituelles. Il s’agit d’une description des éléments (les universels du mythe, du théâtre et du rituel) qui ont eu le plus grand potentiel de guérison dans mon processus de recherche d’équilibre. Ce mémoire s’articule autour des témoignages que constituent le projet de création Auto-autopsie et certains extraits de mon journal d’expériences avec le maître de théâtre Ryszard Nieoczym. / This creation-research project is a paratheatrical research process experienced through workshops with LeTHAL Theatre (Le Theatre de l’Homme Actor’s Laboratorium) between 2006 and 2012. This Master’s thesis aims at deepening the questioning about the healing potential of theatre, more specifically archetypal images and ritual actions. The following document describes the elements (the universals of myth, theatre and ritual) that have had the greatest healing potential in my process of looking for a state of balance. This thesis includes testimonials : the creation project Auto-autopsie, and selected excerpts from my journal of experiences with the theatre master Ryszard Nieoczym.
