The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / This thesis critically examines the processes involved in the construction of the linguistic historical record for the north-west region of South Australia. Focussing on the work of Norman B. Tindale, the thesis looks at the construction of Tindale's Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and Antikirinya representations. It argues that Tindale effectively reduced a diversity of indigenous practices to ordered categories more reflective of Western and colonial concepts than indigenous views. Tindale did not consider linguistic criteria in depth, had few informants, worked within arbitary tribal boundaries, was biased towards the category 'Pitjantjatjara' and was informed by notions of racial/linguistic purity. Magistro darbe tiriama antropogeninės veiklos įtaka Širvintos upės vandens kokybei.
Darbo objektas – Širvintos upė (Vilkaviškio rajone) ir jos baseinas.
Darbo tikslas – nustatyti ir įvertinti antropogeninės veiklos įtaką Širvintos upės vandens kokybei. Tyrimų metu, nustatyti taršos šaltinius, ir taršos pobūdį Širvintos upės baseine, - taip pat atlikti vandens kokybės stebėjimus.
Darbo metodika – taršos šaltiniai ir jos pobūdis Širvintos upės baseine nustatyti analizuojant Vilkaviškio rajono savivaldybės administracijos darbuotojų pateiktą informaciją.
Cheminė vandens pavyzdžių analizė atlikta keturis kartus per metus (kartą per sezoną) dešimtyje upės vagos vietų. Vandens kokybė vertinta lyginant gautus cheminės analizės duomenis su DLK vandens telkinyje – priimtuve ir su Paviršinių vandens telkinių, kuriuose gali gyventi ir veistis gėlavandenės žuvys apsaugos reikalavimais.
Darbo rezultatai. Širvintos upės baseino pagrindinis taršos šaltinis – žemės ūkis. Baseine 53 % apima dirbama žemė, laikoma 1742 sąlyginių gyvulių, per metus susidaro apie 20287,2 m3 mėšlo, o visame susidariusiame mėšle vidutiniškai – apie 110,5 t azoto.
Tyrimu nustatyta, kad Širvintos upė yra vidutiniškai užteršta. Vidutinė metinė skendinčių medžiagų koncentracija 2010 – aisiais 6,9 mg l-1, pagal šį rodiklį upės vanduo – labai geros kokybės. Vidutinis pH ir biocheminis deguonies sunaudojimas, tyrimų laikotarpiu, neviršijo nustatytų normatyvų. Didžiausia leistina amonio koncentracija – 0,78 mg l-1... The object of the work – Sirvinta‘s river (Vilkaviškis district) and it‘s reservoir.
The aim of the work – ascertine and evaluate the influence of antropological activity to water quality of Sirvint‘s river; define pollution sources and it‘s attribution in the reservoir of Sirvinta‘s river; fullfil the observation of water quality.
The method of the work – pollution sources and it‘s attribotion in the reservoir of Sirvinta‘s river are ascertined according to the proposed informatikon of municipality administration of Vilkaviškis district.
The chemical water samples‘ analysis is accomplished four times a year (once a season) in ten channels‘ places of the river. The quality of the water is evaluated comparing attained facts of chemical anglysis with DLK in water mines and With surface of water mines, where the freshwater fish can live and pullulate.
The results of the work. The main pollution source of Sirvinta‘s river is agriculture. 53 % involve farmland, 1742 – livestock. Muck pompose about 20287,2 m3 per year and about 110,5 t azote are composed from that muck.
According to the research, Sirvinta‘s river is polluted on average. The annual material concentration was 6,9 mg l-1 on average in 2010. Using a framework of feminism and poststructuralism, this thesis aims to
interrogate the utilisation of the body as a contested site of struggle for
meaning in contemporary theatre dance in South Africa. "Both feminism, as a
politics, and dance, as a cultural practice, share a concern for the body"
(Brown, 1983: 198). A feminist analysis of dance can offer a tool to
interrogate the dominant discourses of gender and race that surround and
permeate both the female and male body in contemporary theatre dance. The
body is not a neutral site onto which cultural codes and conventions are
inscribed, as the dancer's body is always marked in the physical sense of
gender and race. This thesis aims to decode the body and examine how the
discourses of gender and race are embodied by the moving body on stage -
specifically in the South African (KwaZulu-Natal) context.
By a feminist appropriation of the poststructural endeavour, this research will
look at how the body, as discourse, can be interrogated to examine how the
interconnected discourses of gender and race surround and permeate the
moving body. The utilisation of a poststructural paradigm will aid in the
examination of how the dominant discourses of gender and race are
hegemonically imposed onto the body. Poststructuralism also offers an
understanding that there exist counter-discourses that have the ability to
resist the dominant discourses of gender and race. This notion becomes
important to the study of contemporary theatre dance as an art form. This
thesis will examine how South African (Durban-based) contemporary theatre
dance choreographers explore the body's potential to be subversive in
performance. The thesis will focus on the body's ability to interrogate the

In this thesis. I have moved away from the general question of 'How do women and men behave linguistically?, (Sing and Bergvall. 1996:19) and have turned to investigate in particular how the speech act of apologies contributes to the production of people as 'women and men' (Sing and Bergvall, 1996:19). In other words, the investigation focuses on the effect of politeness strategies on the construction of gender identities. Using poststrucluralist feminist theory as developed primarily by Weedon (1987), this thesis investigates the politeness strategies employed by some Zulu students at the University of Natal, Durban, in their English-medium interactions with African international students. The speech act of apologies is the area of language investigated, with data being collected primarily by means of role-plays and focus groups. The focus of the analysis is limited to the performance of apologies towards non-Zulus by 12 Zulu
male and female students. To this end, the various strategies employed by the respondents were analysed according to the framework developed by Holmes (1989, 1995). In addition, information gathered in the focus groups revealed to what extent politeness strategies are still being transferred from Zulu to English. The strategies employed by these men and women are considered as revealing some of the ways by which politeness contributes to the construction of gender identities, in the University context. On the basis of this limited sample, it is argued that traditional Zulu male masculinity, while still dominant, is now being contested in the University context by some students favouring a less tradition-oriented identity. The strategies employed by the female respondents, on the other hand, suggest that Zulu women students may be beginning to reject traditional Zulu femininity in favour of more westernized identities. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of Natal, Durban, 2000.

The Basque people and their language have been politically oppressed for centuries. I examine the history of the Basque language and how its oppression and revitalization have been shaped by the language policies of France and Spain, the two countries spanned by the Basque country. I focus my research and predictions on the French Basque Country, which is currently subject to a more oppressive language policy than Spanish Basque Country. The number of Basque-speaking bilinguals in the French Basque Country is decreasing and attitudes regarding instruction of the language have become more apathetic. I explore governmental, community, and combined efforts to preserve and encourage use of the language and draw several conclusions about viable future revitalization efforts.

La recherche réalisée s’attache à éclairer « les pratiques inclusives en mathématiques d’enseignants de classe ordinaire dans le premier degré » dans un contexte de changement requis pour les enseignants du système éducatif français qui depuis 2005 sont confrontés à l’accueil des élèves reconnus institutionnellement handicapés. L’état des lieux réalisé conduit à envisager cette scolarisation comme un nouvel enjeu de la culture enseignante, où la question de l’accessibilité au savoir apparaît comme un problème professionnel. C’est pourquoi notre recherche s’est intéressée à la question suivante : en quoi l’inclusion d’un élève reconnu institutionnellement handicapé questionne les praxéologies enseignantes ? Pour instruire cette question, nous nous inscrivons dans le cadre de la didactique professionnelle et dans celui de la théorie anthropologique du didactique. Sous l’influence d’un dispositif à double institution, le modèle d’analyse construit, permet d’étudier le travail enseignant dans la classe tout comme celui du développement professionnel. Ce travail est mené à partir de captations numériques de séances de classe, d’entretiens ante et post et d’analyses simples et croisées. Il permet de mettre en évidence des praxéologies professionnelles relatives au type de tâche « donner une place à l’élève reconnu institutionnellement handicapé en milieu ordinaire » et des évolutions du rapport personnel des enseignants à l’inclusion scolaire. The situational analysis carried out leads us to regard the schooling of such pupils as a new challenge for teaching culture, where the issue of accessibility to knowledge is a professional problem. Our research therefore focused on the following question: What question does the inclusion of a pupil recognised as having institutional disabilities raise about the praxeology of teaching? To explore this question, we need to take account of professional didactics as well as the Anthropological Theory of Didactics. Based on a dual institution study, the model of analysis that is constructed makes it possible to examine both work related to teaching in the classroom and to professional development. The research is carried out using digital recordings of lessons, interviews conducted before and after, as well as simple and cross analyses. It allows us to gain insight into the professional praxeology relating to such a task as that of “ensuring pupils recognised as having institutional disabilities have their place in a regular classroom environment”, as well as changes in teachers’ own personal relation towards inclusive education. The Sherezade Project set forth by the teachers’ Academic Management at PUCP aims to integrate transmedia platforms and anthropological research. The present article details the process of incorporating audiovisual and narrative methods into the urban anthropology course. It also describes the process of producing micro-programs for the university’s TV channel. In this case, wrestling was chosen as the subject by the students and was diffused to a larger audience than just the academic. The project’s main goal is to apply new audiovisual platforms and technology to university education, thus training the students to not only do research but also to democratically relay the results of said social research to the community. / El proyecto Sherezade, promovido por la Dirección Académica del Profesorado de la PUCP, busca integrar las plataformas transmedia y la investigación antropológica. En el presente artículo se expone las características del proceso de incluir técnicas audiovisuales y de narrativa en el curso Antropología Urbana. También se expone la creación de los microprogramas modelo para el canal de TV universitario, donde se escogió el caso de la lucha libre de espectáculo, y que sirvieron como ejemplo para los alumnos y como material de difusión para un público mucho más amplio que el académico. El objetivo final del proyecto es aplicar las nuevas tecnologías y plataformas audiovisuales en la enseñanza universitaria, entrenando así a los alumnos no solo para investigar sino para transmitir democráticamente los resultados de la investigación social a la comunidad.

Cette recherche participative vise à élaborer et à tester un dispositif d’enseignement-apprentissage expérientiel de la langue anglaise, basé sur le principe de narration gestuée, destiné à des élèves débutants à l’école primaire. L’élément central de cette étude ancrée dans l’épistémologie de la reliance est la conception du geste, issue de l’anthropologie linguistique de Jousse, mise en pratique par Lecoq dans le domaine de la pédagogie théâtrale, concrétisée par la théorie des schémas-images de Johnson en linguistique cognitive, et confirmée expérimentalement par les récentes découvertes en neurosciences. Si le geste constitue la facette instrumentale du dispositif, le conte traditionnel en est l’appui thématique. Ce choix a été inspiré par la communauté des caractéristiques propres à la structure narrative du conte et à la motricité humaine (bilatéralisme joussien), au conte et à la conscience mythologique des enfants âgés de 6-8 ans (Egan, psychologie du développement).Le dispositif a été testé dans une classe de CE1 durant une année scolaire. L’analyse des productions d’élèves et des entretiens permet d’évaluer l’impact de la pédagogie expérimentée sur la qualité phonologique et lexicale de la langue, les stratégies de mémorisation ainsi que les stratégies de créativité/initiative linguistique et gestuelle mise en œuvre par les élèves. L’analyse met en lumière également le rôle de l’émotion et de l’interaction dans les apprentissages. / This participatory study on teaching languages in primary school aims to develop and test an experiential approach to English teaching and learning for beginners, based on the principle of gestural narration.This interdisciplinary research focuses on the concept of gesture as described by the linguistic anthropologist Marcel Jousse, put into practice by the theatre instructor Jacques Lecoq, embodied by Mark Johnson’s theory of image schemata in cognitive linguistics and confirmed by recent discoveries in neuroscience.In this teaching approach, gesture is the instrument, while traditional fairy tales provide the subject matter. Fairy tales were chosen because their narrative structure shares some of the characteristics of human motor behaviour (Jousse’s bilateralism) and because they are adapted to the mythic understanding of the world by children aged 6-8 (Egan, educational psychology).This approach was tested in a CE1 class (second year of primary school) during an entire school year. An analysis of student work and interviews assesses the impact of this experimental teaching approach on phonological and lexical language quality, on memorizing strategies, on pupils’ linguistic and gestural creativity/initiative, and evaluates the role of emotion and interaction in their learning.

Fragmentos de pessoa e a vida em demência : etnografia dos processos demenciais em torno da doença de AlzheimerVianna, Luciano von der Goltz January 2013 (has links)
Esta dissertação visa lançar uma perspectiva antropológica sobre a Doença de Alzheimer (DA). Ela está baseada na simetrização de processos sociais e orgânicos que ocorrem em pessoas com e sem DA. Alguns impasses são criados a partir desse posicionamento diante de uma doença. Dentre eles, as definições da doença dadas por diversos interlocutores, as formas de cuidado e tratamento da DA atualmente praticados e as relações do doente com outros seres não-humanos existentes no processo de adoecimento são pontos de vista reversos que impulsionam as questões centrais dessa etnografia. Uma delas trata sobre a possível inclusão do doente de DA no círculo de interlocutores de uma etnografia. Essas perguntas de pesquisa inventam um circuito de produção de incertezas e controvérsias sobre a prática etnográfica. Os efeitos desses problemas mostram um rearranjo das formas de cuidado, da organização do cotidiano e da vida do doente. A hipótese levantada por essa dissertação sugestiona que as produções de saberes sobre a DA estejam recriando conceitos de “pessoa” em sociedades ocidentais. Sobre o termo “processo demencial” será traçada essa perspectiva que se inicia em um grupo de apoio a cuidadores (Associação Brasileira de Alzheimer) e fragmenta-se, por exemplo, no problema da diferença e nos processos de “molecularização da vida”, como diria Nikolas Rose. Baseando-se no pensamento de Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari, esse trabalho irá propor uma perspectiva “nômade” sobre uma demência ao seguir as linhas que socializam uma multiplicidade de elementos e fatores que a compõem. Para produzir essa “nomadologia” foi preciso interelacionar conceitos de antropólogos como Bruno Latour, Tim Ingold e Roy Wagner. Tendo em vista a amplitude dos problemas de pesquisa lançados, essa dissertação não tem a pretensão de encontrar “soluções” para as problematizações que lança mas sim de pensar seus efeitos. / This dissertation aims to launch an anthropological perspective on Alzheimer's Disease (AD). It is based on simetrization of organic and social processes that occur in people with and without AD. Some deadlocks are created from that position before a disease. Among them, the definitions of the disease given by various interlocutors, forms of care and treatment of AD currently practiced and patient relationships with other non-human beings exist in the disease process are reverse viewpoints that drive the central questions of this ethnography. One deals with the possible inclusion of patients with AD in the circle of interlocutors from ethnography. These research questions invent a circuit of uncertainties and controversies about the ethnographic practice. The effects of these problems show a rearrangement of forms of care, the organization of daily life and the life of the patient. The hypothesis for this dissertation suggests that the production of knowledge about the DA are recreating concepts of "person" in occidental societies. About the term "dementia process" will be drawn this perspective that begins in a support group for caregivers (Brazilian Association of Alzheimer) and fragments, for example, the problem of difference and processes "molecularisation of life", as Nikolas Rose would say. Based on the thought of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, this paper will propose a perspective "nomad" on a dementia to socialize following the lines that a multiplicity of factors and elements that compose it. To produce this "nomadology" was necessary interelacionar concepts of anthropologists such as Bruno Latour, Tim Ingold and Roy Wagner. Given the breadth of research problems launched, this dissertation does not claim to find "solutions" to the problematizations that throws but think of its effects.
