Vems verklighet : en undersökning av människor som ska använda det jag ritar och av hur de ser på världen och en beskrivning av en stol baserad på undersökningen

Park, Sofia January 2010 (has links)
As an interior architect it is my job to create spaces that will be inhabited by other people. Thus should these spaces be comprehendible and feel comfortable. To be able to do this it is essential that I understand something about other people’s minds and understandings. In my BA-project my aim has been to understand more about how different people perceive the world and how I, in my profession, can relate to that. I have chosen to study a specific group of people, people with autism, their thoughts on and experiences of the environment we live in. As a second step I have made a design based on my study. / Kandidatexamen 2010

Det mångkulturella biblioteket : En studie av invandrares biblioteksvanor vid Biskopsgårdens bibliotek i Göteborg / The Multiculural Library : A Study of library use among immigrants at Biskopsgården library in Gothenburg

Aronsson, Bodil, Eliasson, Monica January 1997 (has links)
In this diploma work we present the results from a study of how adult immigrants utilise the services provided by the public library in Biskopsgården, Gothenburg. A survey encompassing 51 library visitors of foreign origin and an interview with two librarians at the library were performed. The results from the survey show that the majority of the informants were male students inages from 26 to 45 years and that they had been living in Sweden for a maximum of five years. 73% of the informants used the library to borrow literature in Swedish, 53% to read newspapers and periodicals in their native language, 43% to borrow literature in their native language and 43% to read newspapers and periodicals in Swedish. These results were compared with two other related studies with which partial correspondencewas found. In addition, related topics such as multicultural librarianship and the psychological aspects of immigration are discussed.

Mobilen den är alltid med : En användarundersökning av elektroniska mediers påverkan på ungdomars livsstil / The cell phone is never left behind : a user study of the influence of electronic media on the lifestyle of youth

Gripenberth, Anette, Sävhammar, Linda January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this Master’s thesis is to examine how the lifestyle of youth between the ages of 15-17 is influenced by electronic media and also what view and opinions youth has regarding electronic media and lifestyle. We intend to examine how and when the youth use electronic media in their everyday lives, what purpose the electronic media has in the life of the youth, and finally what views and opinions regarding electronic media and questions regarding lifestyle the youth express. We as librarians and adults need more knowledge on how youth use electronic media and also what thoughts they have regarding media and lifestyle. We would like to bring some knowledge to the discussion in this area with our study to librarians as well as parents. The method we have used is group interviews with youth in the ages 15-17 from different cities, backgrounds and gender. The findings are related to five different themes: modernity, self-identification, lifestyle, the future and the role of the body. The material has been analyzed and interpreted from these theories and earlier research. Major findings in the study is that the use of electronic media plays an important part in the life of youth and especially the Internet and cell phones are important in the social and cultural networks of youth. We also find that the youth do not find themselves affected by the media in their lifestyle; however our study shows that they are unconsciously affected by the images shown in different media. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Antikonsumtion i biblioteksmiljö : En användarundersökning om att låna mer än böcker på folkbibliotek

Nilsson, Margot January 2016 (has links)
This thesis covers the topic about public libraries and their role in anti-consumption according to library users. According to previous research there is a lack of knowledge about how users motivate their library use. A knowledge that is important due to the fact that the libraries views on its patrons can influence the relationship between library and users. The purpose of this essay is to study which role the public libraries have in anti-consumption in a user perspective by answering these questions: - What motivates users to borrow stuff from the library? - What are the users’ views on borrowing different stuff? - What do users want to borrow from the libraries? This study has been done by sharing an online survey in social media and by using a snowball sampling to collect participants. A definition made by Lee et al. (2011) was used to explain anti-consumption, who divided it into three parts: rejection, restriction and recycling. These definitions were then used to help analyzing the results from the survey. Conclusions were made that the library has a restraining role according to the survey’s participants, which means that users avoid ownership of things by borrowing them from the library. The motivation for library use amongst the participants was foremost by economic reasons, the amount of need for accessibility for different things and to discover new things in a safe environment. In majority the participants were pleased by the things that the public libraries are already lending out.

Electronic Journals, Just in Case, Just in Time, Just for You : användning av elektroniska tidskrifter vid Chalmers tekniska högskola / Electronic Journals, Just in Case, Just in Time, Just for You : Usage of Electronic Journals at Chalmers University of Technology

Andersson, Hanna-Kari, Leden Nilsson, Helén January 2000 (has links)
This user study was carried out at the library at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg in the spring of 1999. Chalmers wanted to investigate how much their employees use electronic journals. To facilitate decision-making and be cost effective, the library needed to know about their customers' opinions. The main purpose was to investigate the usage of electronic journals, how the library's choice of these journals affects the frequency of use and what the attitudes towards them are. A questionnaire was sent out to 2 400 employees; 477 replies were received. The result shows that 55% of the respondents use electronic journals at least once a month. The major advantages of electronic journals are, according to the study, the easy access and the option to work from one's own desk. The major disadvantage is the difficulty in scanning them. Two thirds of the respondents are willing to let go of the print journal at the library in favour of the electronic one, but only one fifth are willing to give up their departmental subscriptions. For a majority, conditions such as user friendliness and archiving must be fulfilled before electronic journals can be fully accepted. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Biblioteksanvändning på institutionen folkbibliotek : sedd genom en användarundersökning vid Alingsås huvudbibliotek / Utilization of public libraries : in the light of a user study at the Public Library of Alingsås

Arvidson, Klaz January 1995 (has links)
This paper deals with how people use public libraries. An attempt is made to distinguishbetween different user groups on the basis of how they use the library. The roles of thelibrary in relation to its users are also discussed. The paper is based on a user study with the cooperation of 195 users. The user studywas carried out at the Public Library of Alingsås 1994. As material for comparisonsimilar studies from Sweden, but even from Denmark, have been used. The user groupswere divided into different categories according to Geir Vestheim's study "Folkebiblioteki forvandling", 1992 [Public libraries in change].The paper brings forward that using the library and its stock on location is common inseveral of the user groups. This appears as a hidden utilization of the library in traditionalstatistical datas. Students on different levels are a growing group in the utilizationof the public libraries.

Användarundersökningar på medicinska bibliotek : en kvalitativ studie av hur medicinska bibliotek använder sig av resultatet av användarundersökningar för att utveckla sin verksamhet / User studies at medical libraries : a qualitative study of how medical libraries use the results of user studies to develop their activitie

Johansson, Annicka January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to examine how medical libraries use user studies and their results to develop their activities, as well as how they view their opportunities to clear the barriers users in user studies find that they have in their information seeking. The method used in the study is semi-structured interviews with five chief librarians at five different medical libraries in Sweden. The empirical data was analysed using qualitative content analysis. The theory used for analysing the results is Vedung's five models of use of evaluation: instrumental use, enlightenment use, legitimizing use, tactical use and ritual use. The result shows that medical libraries both take part in the results of user studies conducted at national level and own user studies. The respondents state that user studies are important and that they fill a function of finding out what users think about their activities. The results of user studies are mainly used as enlightenment, but also instrumental and legitimizing. The opportunities to clear barriers in the users' information seeking are many, but the most suggested is through marketing efforts. The conclusion is that user studies very well can be seen as a tool for developing the activities of medical libraries. If one uses the results of user studies in the instrumental, enlightening and legitimizing way that Vedung recommends and which the librarians in the study do in most cases, they can be very useful.

Information, makt och konspirationsteorier : En studie av informationskritiska användare / Information, Power and Conspiracy Theories : A Study of Critical Information Users

Heed, Malva January 2014 (has links)
Purpose–This study has examined the information behaviour and perception of information in a group ofinformation users who have a critical approach to the media and the information supply. Some of them call themselvesor are being called conspiracy theorists. The purpose was to examine how their information behaviour is influenced by the belief that the information is biased or inaccurate and what the information behaviour looks like when the user searches for discrepancies rather than a response to a question. Method–The study is based on transcribed interviews and email responses to interview questions. The model used to analyze the source material is Christine Bruceʼs seven categories of information literacy as presented in Seven Faces of Information Literacy. The outcome is compared with other user studies. Subsequently, the source material has been studied through Michel Foucaultʼs discourse theory. Focus is on power, anti-discourses and institutions. Findings–The analyses have shown that the informants have a sufficiently uniform information behaviour to be studied as a user group. Their information behaviour is focused on different strategies for evaluating information and understanding courses of events. This behaviour is based on a critical approach to what is considered as "truth" in the discourse. Originality/value–The user group has not been studied before in LIS research. Paper type–This is a two years master’s thesis in library and information science in Archive, Library and Museum studies.
