Does an employee's psychological contract predict the perception of the employer's attractiveness?

Flyckt, Jennifer, Nordström, Emilia January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate to which extent the fulfilment of the psychological contract predicts the perception of employers' attractiveness (based on the dimensions, interest of the employer, social-, economic-, development- and application value) of new employees in an agency in central Sweden, in addition to the background factors of job satisfaction, gender and age. To collect data, a web-based survey was created that was answered by 118 newly employed at the chosen organization. The survey questions were based on three measuring instruments, Global Job Satisfaction, PSYCONES and EmpAt. Also background issues about age and gender were requested. The result showed that the fulfilment of the psychological contract could predict the perception of employers' attractiveness for all five dimensions of EmpAt in addition to the background factor job satisfaction. Age and gender as background factors did not contribute to any significant results.

Forsberg, Anton, Lindberg, Emil January 2018 (has links)

The perfect job : a study of the relationship between employer branding and person organization fit

Kobaslic, Bojan, Musonda, Lilian January 2018 (has links)
This research thesis has researched about how employer branding and its relationship to person - organization fit. It focuses on personality traits of applicants and how it can impact their attractiveness of the organization advertised in job adverts. The purpose of this research thesis is to explain what relationship employer branding via job advertisements has when it comes to establishing P - O fit. In this case between future business students and organizations. The thesis had a deductive approach a cross - sectional research design was applied. A quantitative research method (logistic regression) was used and came from primary data. The research findings show that employer branding has a positive relationship to creating attractiveness of firms and also has an impact upon person-organization fit. Our findings also indicated that personality characteristics is hard to categorize in order to see what specifically in employer value proposition can attract a specific employee preference. The limitations were the number of respondents, a larger sample unit could have impacted the results more. Also, using a qualitative method in terms of semiotics could give a more detailed output on respondents’ personality traits. The original value of the research thesis is that it focused specifically on business students and to what degree employer value proposition is related to person-organization fit.

Evolutionary Approach on Binge Drinking : Meta-Analytic, Experimental and Modeling Investigations of Excessive Alcohol use and Other Risks.

Boudesseul, Jordane 26 February 2018 (has links)
Binge drinking is a worldwide and multi-faceted phenomenon usually defined as having 4 or more alcoholic beverages per occasion for women or 5 or more drinks per occasion for men. Binge drinking also underlies many other risky behaviors (inter- and intra-personal violence, drunk driving, sexual risks, etc.) as well as negative health consequences (cancers, cardiovascular diseases, etc.). The three-fold nature of binge drinking (biological, psychological and sociological) encompasses a wide variety of areas ranging from endocrinology to social and cognitive psychology. Getting an overview of the problem, however, is made difficult by the very fact that few evolutionary analysis have been suggested. Here, we propose to frame the problem from a costly signaling perspective. What type of signals do the binge drinkers send? To whom is the signal directed? Are those signals courtship displays or threats to competitors in order to assure reproductive success or maintain social status? How can contextual factors influence drinking rates? Exploring causes, correlates and predictors of binge drinking and its interdisciplinary nature should serve as a relevant starting point to then reveal the necessity of an evolutionary framework. To address these questions, I first started by shaping an evolutionary-based approach to binge drinking taking into account current data and theories (Chapter 1). I then ran various laboratory studies (eye-tracking) and online experiments aiming at evaluating the mating and intra-sexual signals that binge drinkers send to others (Chapter 2 and 3). Based on those results, I implemented a field prevention program intended at reducing alcohol’s attitude and expectancies among French high school students as well as an online replication (Chapter 4). In parallel, I conducted an extensive meta-analysis of women’s drinking behaviors and other risks across the menstrual cycle to understand the endocrine influences at play (Chapter 5). Finally, I analyzed the life-history theory of risky drinking at a population level through a hierarchical modeling of binge drinking frequency and intensity from 1997 to 2006 across the United States (Chapter 6). Taken together, those findings can help to build the foundations for an inter-disciplinary approach to binge drinking and create specific micro-targeted prevention programs.

Uma abordagem microrregional para a atração migratória em Alagoas, de 2000 a 2010 / A micro-regional approach attractiveness migration in Alagoas for the period 2000 to 2010

Coelho, Everton de Souza 24 February 2015 (has links)
This study addresses, initially, the aspects linked to the behavior of population movements concerning immigration and emigration for the period 2000 to 2010, for the state of Alagoas. Subsequently, the research is delimited in micro-regional division of Alagoas starting for analysis of the main issues pertaining to immigration, focusing on the characteristics of concentration and/or deconcentration of origin of immigrants in the state. In order to identify the profile of the microregion, seeking to ascertain whether there are certain locations with cosmopolitan character, the research uses the Herfindahl-Hirschman approach Index for immigration. With this tool, it was found that the microregions of Maceió, Alagoana do Sertão do São Francisco and Sao Miguel dos Campos became part of the index rating category with moderate concentration in 2010, while the other locations, from 2000 to 2010 were included in the category of high concentration, which leads to the conclusion that those were microregions receiving immigrants with more diversified origins in Alagoas. Finally, in an attempt to find explanations for immigration flows in the state, some econometric models have been developed, which supported the neoclassical hypothesis that factors related to the labor market (employment level in the economy) are crucial to explain the occurrence of these flows.

Les facteurs d'attractivité territoriale au service du développement au Liban : le cas du Akkar / The territorial attractiveness factors for the service of development in Lebanon : the case of Akkar

Khneyzer, Chadi 09 November 2016 (has links)
Lebanon knows nowadays a phenomenon against original-urban migration, while growing urbanization is rather the great feature of our world today. This has piqued our curiosity led us to investigate the causes of this dynamic in some Lebanese areas while others remain outside and suffer from underdevelopment. Such is the case of the region that is the subject of our research: Akkar, north Lebanon. To boost the region and trigger a process of territorial development, it is clear that agriculture must be aware of the concerns of the center of its predominance in the territory of Akkar and comparative advantages it provides.Several theoretical and empirical work highlights the virtues of the development of agriculture in terms of GDP growth and the fight against poverty and show that agriculture reacts faster than other sectors to new policies and contributes greatly to the GDP. Agricultural growth stimulates the whole economy because it creates markets for non-agricultural goods and services, producing a diversification effect of the economic base of rural areas. Thus the food industry and tourism will develop in line with a new vision for agriculture. Finally, the current weaknesses of Akkar economy can become opportunities if the multifunctional nature of the rural economy is sustainable development from a dynamic encompassing agriculture, agribusiness and tourism. Shares on the conditions of production (improving infrastructure, strengthening education and training, financial support and rational organization of production) involve state support. The actions of revitalization and recovery through a series of local development projects involve for their strong mobilization of local actors and decentralized for greater flexibility, especially in the management of decentralized cooperation projects.

For Richer or For Poorer: How Financial Resources Affect Women’s Mate-Value

Fisher, Alexandra 04 January 2016 (has links)
Research on mate preferences suggests that men value physical attractiveness and youthfulness most in potential partners, whereas women value status and resources most in a potential partner (Buss, 1989). These differences in mate preferences have implications for the value men and women place on these characteristics (e.g. attractiveness and resources) in potential mates. A man’s attractiveness and financial resources both contribute positively to his mate-value, (Sprecher, 1989; Townsend & Levy, 1990). A woman’s attractiveness also contributes to her mate-value (Sprecher, 1989; Townsend & Levy, 1990), but the value of her resources is less clear. I expected that men’s evaluation of a woman’s financial resources would be dependent on her level of attractiveness. I hypothesized that a woman’s financial resources would add to her mate-value when she was highly attractive, but detract from her mate-value when she was typically attractive. In Study 1, a woman of varying attractiveness (typical vs. high) approached men on campus and delivered a speech that conveyed her future income (low vs. high). Men’s reported desire to join her focus group was used as measure of their impressions of her mate-value. Study 2 directly assesses participant’s romantic interest in targets of varying income (low vs. high) and attractiveness (typical vs. high) using a controlled laboratory method where both men and women evaluated a profile of a potential romantic partner. The results of both studies supported my hypotheses. This research provides insight into the complicated nature of a woman’s financial resources as part of her overall mate-value. / Graduate / 2019-06-30
