- a enunciação do discurso religioso: leitura/análise do texto grego da epístola de Tiago / The enunciation of religious discourse: reading/analysis of epistolary text of James

Bittencourt Filho, Heitor 30 July 2008 (has links)
The present thesis presents a Greek text reading/analysis proposal of the Epistle of James that pertence, in corpus biblical, to the New Testament. The reading/analysis is made applying concepts, language Sciences Notions and methodologies, modernly employed in the analysis of the most varied discursive genders. The research constitutes of three distinct parts: The first, in which we present summarily the used methodology and some reflections on context are done, the Greek language system utilization, and the epistolary discourse gender. The second, in which is presented a theory proposal that has as goal identify a structure and a process for the enunciation instance. In the third part, readings analyses are done: of context and of the speech gender of James; of the Greek language system resources as the verbal aspect, the Greek participle and for spacialization marked since the lexicon; of the addressee\'s speechlization as indicating the possibility that the speaker James is destinator of a driven speech so much to a particular auditorium as universal. The sciences of the used language priority were: own theoretical vision of enunciation instance, the textual linguistics, the argumentation, and the semiotics of Paris School. Both the theoretical reference as the readings/analyses done had as goal of showing the applicability of modern methodologies in old texts - religious - and written in the original tongue, and in the search of an argumentation, cohesion and coherence for James\'s Speech.

Eckert, Daniele January 2016 (has links)
The conventional model of organization of the production and distribution of food chain is based on the increasing dependence on the financial and industrial capital, the use of agrochemicals, fertilizers, industrial fertilizers and other techniques from the Green Revolution, the free circulation of goods in countries and the inclusion of intermediaries in the distribution chain. This model represents a movement of commodification of agriculture and undermines the autonomy of individuals concerning their material and social reproduction, leading society to a status of poverty, food insecurity, rural exodus, damage to health and environment, as well as to a loss of sense of community and solidarity. In addition to understanding the concept and the ways of expression of the commodification movement, the theoretical approach, based on Karl Polanyi, enables to capture the concept of plurality and coexistence of the principles of economic regulation and also the countermovement as a form of resistance and rescue of the individuals’ autonomy. In this context, the Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) emerges as a possibility of countermovement to the conventional food market to add quality to the act of feeding by the agroecological production and to reconnect production and consumption by shortening the supply chain. The problem that guided the research of this dissertation was to understand what are the forms of countermovement that are present in the Community-Supported Agriculture before the generalization of the commodification process. Therefore, the overall objective was to understand and analyze, in a real experience of CSA located in southeast region of Brazil, the patterns of non-market exchange and the elements that favor the relative autonomy and increase social cohesion among producers and consumers participating in the observed experience. The method used was participant observation, using the techniques of ethnography. In general, the results found in the study show that individuals are not passive before the effects of commodification and they articulate in movements that seek protection and autonomy. The results confirm the initial hypothesis that, in the CSA, activities coexist with the exchange market, such as other principles of regulation of economy, especially reciprocity, which appears at various times, in motivation for engagement and in the way the exchange itself is performed. This happens because, when they prioritize their exchanges act instead of the object and the private interest, they develop a more human relationship that allows the establishment of friendship, solidarity, tolerance, mutual fidelity and commitment and also enable the expansion of autonomy of individuals and establish a sense of community, which is around the food. In this study, we have identified three specific elements that contribute to the effectiveness of the process: the way of producing food, as opposed to traditional agriculture, the shortening of chain and the activities in group promoted by the group of farmers and consumers. Thus, the Community-Supported Agriculture is a countermovement to the commodification in agriculture and an effective alternative in the construction of autonomy of those who are part of this net of food and in the expansion of social cohesion. The results and conclusions presented throughout the dissertation are relevant since they contribute with new information and possibilities of actions to slowdown rural exodus, alleviate poverty, reduce public spending on health with a healthier diet, as well as to promote the development of initiatives to preserve the environment.

Developing cohesion in non-state militaries : a case study of the Provisional IRA

Finnegan, Patrick January 2017 (has links)
This work is based on the belief that the Provisional IRA developed its combat effectiveness through enhancing its small-unit effectiveness. Although PIRA ultimately failed in its objective to reunify Ireland, it successfully waged a thirty-year long campaign against the British military. The current state of terrorism studies does not explain how this was possible. It can explain the development of PIRA’s strategy, membership type and weapons used but it lacks sufficient explanation of small-unit dynamics. By drawing on the ideas of Huntington and King, among others, this work argues that PIRA successfully professionalised its small-unit tactics and this was the source of its increased effectiveness. By examining changes in structure, training, specialisation, motivation and identity it will be possible to demonstrate whether professionalism did have an effect. Ultimately, the findings of this research will provide an example for others to follow in their efforts to understand past and present terror threats.

The potential costs of high cohesion in sport teams

Milne, Jennifer January 2017 (has links)
Cohesion is essential for team harmony and performance. It is universally sought in sport teams. The benefits have been extensively studied and are a requirement of team success. Counter to wide held belief, cohesion is not an intrinsically positive phenomenon. This thesis aimed to develop more understanding of the potential disadvantages or costs of high cohesion in sport teams to fill a significant gap in the literature. Study 1 examined the extent and nature of these costs. Athletes perceived similar costs. Fourteen categories of costs were identified with perceived pressures and communication issues demonstrated to be strongly significant. Study 2 was framed in narrative theory to explore costs experienced over the life-span career of a retired professional motor sport co-driver. The most significant costs experienced were pressure to perform and pressure to conform. The key influencing factors were a performance narrative along with what was identified as a new narrative type, the team performance narrative. Study 3 utilised the lens of narrative theory to explore when and where costs were not experienced by a current elite motorsport sport driver and his team. Buffers were indicated. Study 4 was a case study of a high performing team where across the entire season team cohesion was high but performance wasn’t reciprocated accordingly. High cohesion produced costs of conformity and normative influence, rigid demands and methods with narrow goal focus, communication issues and pressure to perform. These costs are all inter-related and interacted to have a negative impact on performance. This thesis raises awareness of the potential costs of high cohesion in sport teams and, by offering a new model – the Cohesion Costs’ Reduction Model - for identifying strategies to minimise these potential costs, aims to improve individual wellbeing in a team and improve team performance.

Costa, Gésica Suellen Sobrinho 24 September 2018 (has links)
This research aims at analyzing the work Cinderela Surda (Deaf Cinderella) in Sign Writing (using Sign Writing system) (HESSEL; KARNOPP; ROSA, 2003), in terms of cohesion. Specifically, we identify the strategies to refence the characters in the text and the connection among relevant parts of the narrative. For the theoretical assumptions, we base our discussion on Koch and Travaglia (2001), Fávero (2002) and Marcuschi (2008), who discuss cohesion and coherence; Bolgueroni and Viotti (2013), who discuss nominal reference in Brazilian Sign Language; and Nobre (2011) and Barreto and Barreto (2013), who discuss text composition in Sign Writing. Parting from the analysis of the work, we observe that the reiteration of referents happens through: (i)proforms, in pronouns, adverband numbers; (i) ellipsis, in simple verbs and agreement verbs; (iii) conjunctions, for example, the sings BUT, and BECAUSE; and (iv) reintegration. We identify the relevance of the signs FRIGHT and HAPPEN, as important elements to introduce relevant moments in the plot, and the absence of signs which denote temporal sequentiality. The segmentation and sequentiality of some parts of the work happen mainly in the use of images (extratextual elements). This work is important because it enables greater knowledge on textual composition in Sign Writing, regarding cohesion in Sign Writing, which is expanding nowadays in Brazil.

Estruturas Discursivas: o Encapsulamento Anafórico em redações de pré-vestibulandos / Discursive structures: the writings on anaphorie encapusulation from pre-school students

Dayhane Alves Escobar Ribeiro 18 April 2011 (has links)
This work features fifty essays from students of Sintuperj preparation course - who have graduated from high school and now are preparing to take the entrance exam. The approach is based on the cohesive organization of these texts through referencing, examining the use of the articulator termed anaphoric encapsulation. To check the function of this phenomenon argumentative discourse in Essays, the analysis was divided in two perspectives: first, the types of referral chains were investigated, designated as specific, labeling and contributing to the progression reference in the text, or as non-specific, simply retrieving and summarizing the previous content, avoiding repetitions. On the other hand, the analysis was expanded to the elements of these chains, as was done by checking the reference to the referent. With this, was possible to note that this maintenance of the data in the text allows for text cohesion - evaluation criteria for college - and consistently enriches the argument that the student makes to defend his thesis. Therefore, it can be stated that the main contribution that this work provides for the teaching of native language concerns of the text from the perspective of cognitive processing, revealing how the elements are constructed in the essays, from the cultural components and knowledge of diverse students, providing the reference progression

Vybrané aspekty jazyka rozhlasových pořadů o vaření / Selected aspects of radio programmes on cooking

Jelínková, Blanka January 2012 (has links)
This thesis discusses selected linguistic aspects of two radio culinary broadcasts (Rozhlas u plotny, Pochoutky). The theoretical part deals with the tradition of spoken language research, its resources and the phenomena studied. The conclusion of this chapter is devoted to the approaches to spoken language focused on coherence and cohesion. For the purposes of analysis, transcripts of above mentioned radio culinary broadcasts were made. Specific transcription rules (based on different existing transcription rules) were created, to suit our type of analysis. In Rozhlas u plotny, the guest is a professional chef, in Pochoutky, the guest is an actor or a presenter. First part of the work briefly describes and compares language of these two types of speakers in the terms of phonetics, morphology, lexicology, syntax and stylistics. Subsequently, the main part of the thesis concentrates on textual syntax and describes cohesion and coherence of spoken dialogue. From this point of view, it focuses on comparison of two types of dialogues (and two types of speakers): predominantly continuous dialogue vs. predominantly interrupted dialogue (e.g. by overlapping talk). Thus, it gives examples representing various ways of retaining cohesion and coherence in continuous dialogue and in interrupted dialogue. Key...
