The topic of this research is the school sports competition. The contributions of sports competitions for training and education of participants were investigated specifically about the School Games of Petrolina (SGP), which is a school sports competition developed over 40 years ago and its impact as a training and education tool of children and adolescents in the region. Three studies were conducted to reach the research objectives. The first study deals with the Theory and Methodology of Sports Competitions and the Theoretical Model presented by Marques (2004). This model supports sports competition as a structural element of the education and training of children and youth. The second study, of historical nature, addressed the creation of the SGP. For this purpose, teachers responsible for creating the SGP were interviewed using a survey built in a semi-structured format. The third study, performed with teachers working in the SGP, focused on the current reality of the SGP. The characteristics, capabilities and limitations of the SGP as a training and education element of the participants, were investigated by applying a semi-structured format survey. The sports competitions are irreplaceable elements for education and training of participants, however, to fulfill its training and educational function, competitions should be organized by principles, rules and appropriated contents for each age group. The SGP was created by the Education Secretariat of Pernambuco in the early 70s. In the early editions, teachers, who were also organizing, received no support from government agencies, requiring them to improvise when it came to the conditions of the contest sites as well as acting out the roles of organizers, referees and coaches. During this period, the support coming from students, schools' management and Petrolina community was crucial. The results of the three studies that are part of this thesis enabled to answer the central question of this investigation: What are the contributions of the SGP for the training and education of young athletes? The SGP helps not only the participant's growth in sport, but also the build of values that are part of sports competitions and also desirable in other aspects of life. Some examples are "respect to rules", "partnership", "pleasure", "sportiness", "public image", "tolerance", "be fair", "self-esteem", "be a winner" and "personal fulfillment". The "self-esteem" growth on athletes and the feeling of "personal fulfillment" are aspects very present in the SGP, with implications that go far beyond the sport environment. These values have contributed to an attitude change of many athletes, expressed in terms of lower number of students leaving school, higher tolerance and better family relationship, aspects that were noticed by other teachers, school board and families.

The perception about disease and death from parents of children and adolescents with cancerGiovana Kreuz 20 October 2009 (has links)
The present study focuses on the perception about disease and death of parents of children and adolescents with cancer. The field research was carried out trough interviews with fathers or
mothers of children and adolescents with cancer. The interviews showed that when the parents perceive the physical symptoms of their children they usually take some measures;
after the cancer has been diagnosed in their children they stay undecided between mentioning the name of the disease or maintaining it under disguise; they perceive the disease as
something unbridled, malignant, dangerous. The doctors are seen as facilitators in the health disease process, but in some cases, also as those that will inform the family about the
inevitable prognostic. The cancer changes the life of the family, both their daily routines and their values. Some parents believe that the cancer may affect all persons, but will probably develop or manifest itself only in some specific persons, epending on its emotional or physical situation. Here emerge the conceptions of genetics, of religion, of cause and effect,
notions of guilt and punishment, mention of life histories to explain the disease. The parents mention that they think more about death after the advent of the disease. Components of faith, hope and elaboration to their anguishes appear many times in their talk. The study makes possible to understand how the parents perceive and represent the disease of their children
with cancer, how they experience the possibility and the meaning of death, and how they start to understand the finitude of life after a hard personal and family ordeal.

Mar me quer, de Mia Couto, entre as literaturas do insólito e juvenil / Mar que me quer of Mia Couto, among the literaturs of the unusual and youthNanci do Carmo Alves 21 June 2013 (has links)
The books edition, available for purchase, measures 24.5 cm high by 17.3 cm wide; Its hardcover has a vibrant green background with colorful illustration, eight drawings made by Nasi John Pereira along its eight chapters; sixty-eight pages in total - considering, among them, the illustrative pages and blank ones- which fall in the midst of the literature aimed at children and adolescents. To its concealing format, one should join the manifestation of the fantasized sort of reality, in terms of fictional discourse - at various times and in different categories of narrative: action, characters, places and times of the fictional unusual trait which destabilizes the realistic mimesis, committed to empirical reality, the common sense. By highlighting this fantastic aspect of the narrative, the writer manages to situate his work in the universe - already foreshadowed - of the child and juvenile literature, as well as within the literary strands of the fantastic -in the broadest sense. A journey through the story of Zeca Perpétuo and Luarmina, central characters of the narrative, leads to a walk through the seas of these literatures in which the unusual bursts, leading readers to the emerging tensions of a world filled with myths, legends and beliefs of this telluric land in Africa, Mozambique

Zhodnocení výkonnosti a efektivity poskytovaných služeb v nízkoprahových zařízeních pro děti a mládež / Evaluation of Efficiency and Effectiveness of Services Provided in Low-threshold Facilities for Children and YouthZELENÁ, Markéta January 2010 (has links)
Low-threshold facilities for children and youth are a relatively new and still evolving service. The efficiency and effectiveness of this particular service have not been significantly surveyed yet. Therefore, in this thesis Evaluation of Efficiency and Effectiveness of Services Provided in Low-threshold Facilities for Children and Youth, I tried to outline theoretical aspects of this issue and to compare them with practice. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of services in selected low-threshold facilities for children and youth with regard to proven facts and to suggest proceedings that would lead to an overall improvement and higher effectiveness of social services. Based on the research conducted by a questionnaire survey in clients of selected low-threshold facilities for children and youth, and by the secondary analysis of the data obtained in these facilities, I tried to suggest ideas that would lead to more effective provision of services in individual facilities surveyed. In the theoretical part emphasis is placed on the issue of efficiency and effectiveness in facilities providing social services. Furthermore, attention is focused on the description of low threshold facilities for children and youth as an organization providing social services, the legislative base of these facilities, the mission, goals and services through which the mission has been carried out. The main outcomes of the thesis are based on a detailed elaboration of the issue of efficiency and effectiveness of low-threshold facilities for children and youth, and a proposition of procedures which could be used to improve services in surveyed facilities to get closer to clients to meet their needs. The outcomes of the thesis presented in practice can also serve as an inspiration for other facilities of a similar character to evaluate and improve the efficiency of services provided.

Školní aktovky, problematika jejich hmotnosti ve vztahu k vadnému držení těla v populaci školních dětí / School bags and problems of its weight in relation with wrong attitude in population of school childrenSOUKUPOVÁ, Tereza January 2011 (has links)
In my diploma thesis, I have focused on relation concerning the weight of school bags and poor posture among the population of school children. The aim of my thesis was to chart the weight of school bags at the first grade of primary school in the region of České Budějovice and Český Krumlov in relation to overloading the children?s locomotive system. A partial objective of this research was charting the content of these school bags. In my diploma thesis, I have described the locomotive system, the function of its parts and I have further analysed the development of the locomotive apparatus in each term of child?s growth organism with the emphasis on term of the younger school age. In this thesis, I have described the right posture and the most common deviations of posture from a physiological point of view. I have considered the risk factors that lead to the rise of poor posture and basic diagnostic tests, which are connected to this issue. Part of my thesis has been dedicated to the inappropriate load of younger school age children in school and the ways that this can be avoided. I have also summarised the issue of school bags. I have described how should the right kind of school bag should look like and what is required by the Czech technical norm. An additional issue I have mentioned in my thesis was the content of these school bags. In the last unit of the theoretical part of my work, I have done some research regarding the moving regimen of children in school and the ways of avoiding rising muscle imbalance. For the researching part, I have used a method of objective measuring and weighing of pupils and their school bags in each class of the first grade of those chosen schools supplemented by the information from a questionnaire given to the parents of these children. The results were processed by means of Microsoft Excel. This research has confirmed two out of four of these hypotheses; the other two were disproved. According to the data from this research, it is possible to confirm that the children were overloaded by their school bags in all classes of the first grade of primary schools, where the research was held and this fact confirms the first hypothesis. Other confirmed hypothesis was the fact that children are not allowed to keep their school supplies in their respective schools. More than half of parents answered that their children have to carry their school equipment with them every day. A positive finding was that children prepare their school bags every day with some help of their parents. Parents sometimes prepare the bags themselves or at least they check a content of the bag. This fact disproved one of the hypotheses. The last hypothesis assumed that parents don?t know about any risks connected to overloaded school bags. This hypothesis was also disproved. The parents of these children were able to state at least one of possible risks in most of cases.
