S?ntese de ze?litas e argilas ?cidas pilarizadas a partir de mat?rias primas naturais

These materials are named molecular sieves because they have well defined pore sizes and they have the capacity of select molecules by its size. In this work, it was studied the synthesis processes of two types of molecular sieves: pillared acid clays using as starting material one natural montmorillonite clay and the synthesis of zeolites from a silico-aluminous residue. This residue is a byproduct of the extraction of lithium -spodumene. The preparation of pillared acid clays was performed in two steps: 1? acid treatment of clay samples (time and temperature studies) and 2?pilarization of them with Al13 (Keggin ion). The temperature and acid concentration affect the removal of cations in the structure and porosity of the material obtained. The analysis of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR), showed that increasing the severity of the acid treatment compromises the structural material. Also the pore size distribution is approximately uniform. Despite presenting a structural disorganization, the samples were pillared. As evidenced by XRD increasing the basal spacing, specific area and uniform porosity by adsorption of N2. Regarding the microporous molecular sieves were synthesized zeolites A and NaP1 from a silico-aluminous residue, a byproduct of extracting lithium. The temperature and time of agitation during the synthesis were the most important factors for obtaining zeolite A. The aging of the gel and the highest crystallization time promoted the formation of zeolite NaP1 using a Si / Al ratio = 3.2 / Modifica??es estruturais de res?duos para s?ntese de ze?litas ? tema de muitos estudos desenvolvidos na ?rea de s?ntese de peneiras moleculares. Neste trabalho foram estudados os processos de s?ntese de dois tipos de peneiras moleculares: argilas ?cidas pilarizadas, utilizando como mat?ria prima natural uma argila montmorilonita, e tamb?m a s?ntese de ze?litas a partir de um res?duo s?lico-aluminoso subproduto da extra??o de L?tio do -espodum?nio. A prepara??o de argilas ?cidas pilarizadas foi realizada em duas etapas: 1? tratamento ?cido das amostras de argila (estudos de tempo e temperatura) e 2? pilariza??o das mesmas com Al13 (?on de keggin). As vari?veis temperatura e concentra??o do ?cido influenciaram na retirada de c?tions estruturais e na porosidade do material obtido. A partir das an?lises de difra??o de raios-X (DRX) e espectroscopia de infravermelho (IV), observou-se que o aumento da severidade do tratamento ?cido compromete a organiza??o estrutural do material. Tamb?m a distribui??o no tamanho de poros fica menos uniforme. Mesmo apresentando menor organiza??o estrutural, as amostras foram pilarizadas. Foi comprovado por DRX o aumento do espa?amento basal e por adsor??o de N2 o aumento da ?rea espec?fica e uniformiza??o dos poros. Com rela??o ?s peneiras moleculares microporosas, foram sintetizadas ze?litas A e NaP1 a partir de um res?duo s?lico-aluminoso, subproduto da extra??o de L?tio. Municipalities of Parelhas and Equador are the main responsible for the production of feldspar, quartz, kaolin and granite. The ceramic industries are always in search of competitiveness by investing in new products or improving existing techniques. The stoneware is a type of pottery that stands in the market because it presents technical and aesthetic characteristics superior to other existing products. Characteristics of the raw materials initially obtained with chemical analysis and mineralogical analysis are crucial in getting a product that satisfies the conditions in a manufacturing process and is, in principle, directly related to the firing cycle. This research aimed at developing new formulations for the mass production of ceramic stoneware. The raw materials initially characterized were feldspar, quartz, kaolin and granite. As part of the research was developed at the University of Aveiro, in Portugal, we used two clays used in the production of Portuguese ceramics. The raw material Brazilian and Portuguese and the final product, both in Portugal and Brazil, were analyzed for X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, granulometric analysis, dilatometric analysis, thermal analysis and analysis of scanning electron microscopy (MEV). The specimens prepared at the University of Aveiro (DECV) were sintered at 10000C and 12000C and the specimens prepared in UFRN were sintered at 10000C, 10500C, 11000C, 11500C, 12000C, 12500C and 13000C, but the best results and demonstrating the presence of the mineral mullite were at temperatures of 12000C, 12500C and 13000C. The results showed that the granite waste used may be considered raw material of excellent quality for use in the ceramic industry and coating floors and more accurately by the industry of stoneware. In Rio Grande do Norte to the production of ceramic red restricts their activities to the production of products such as: solid bricks, ceramic blocks, tiles, among others. Seeking to unite experiences and technical information that favor sustainable development, with important benefits to the construction sector and civil society in general, the present work studies the incorporation of the residue of scheelite in ceramic matrix kaolinitic, coming from the municipality of Boa Sa?de - RN, in percentage of 5 %, 10 %, 20 %, 30% 40% and 50 %, by evaluating its microstructure, physical properties and formulation. The raw materials were characterized through the trials of X ray fluorescence, Diffraction of X rays, Differential Thermal Analysis and Termogravimetric Analysis. The samples were formed and fired at temperatures of 850o, 900o, 1000o, 1050o, 1100o, 1150o and 1200 oC, with isotherm of 1 hour and heating rate of 10 oC/min. Assays were performed technological of loss to fire, Water Absorption, Apparent Porosity, Apparent Density, Mass Loss in Fire and Bending Resistance; in addition to the Scanning Electron Microscopy, analyzing their physical and mechanical properties. The use of residue of scheelite in ceramic mass kaolinitic provided a final product with technological properties that meet the technical standards for the production of bricks and roofing tiles, with the percentage of 20% of waste that showed the best results / O extrativismo mineral ? considerado uma atividade altamente degradante, devido ao grande volume de material que ele movimenta em forma de min?rio e res?duo. Estabilização de um solo dispersivo com adição de cal / Stabilization of dispersive soil with lime

Argilas dispersivas, também conhecidas como solos altamente erosivos, são dispersas na presença de água relativamente pura, tal como a causada por precipitações. Esse fenômeno é gerado pela ação que à água intersticial presente no solo ter uma maior concentração de cátions do que a água pura de chuva. A adição de cal nestes solos, é uma técnica de melhoramento das características físicas nas argilas dispersivas, assim também como suas propriedades mecânicas. A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo quantificar a influência isolada de cada variável; quantidade de cal, porosidade e tempo de cura, sobre a resistência não confinada de um solo dispersivo tratado com cal e permitir avaliação da transformação para um estado não-dispersivo. Esta dissertação visa a compreensão dos parâmetros-chave da mistura de argila dispersiva com adição de cal para o controle das resistências à compressão simples (qu) e de tração (qt). Assim, mostra-se que a relação vazios/cal é um parâmetro adequado para avaliar estas resistências não confinadas. Em consequência, verificou-se uma única relação qt=qu igual a 0,136, sendo independente da relação vazios/cal e o tempo de cura. Além disso, verificou-se que a metodologia para previsão de Envoltórias de Mohr-Coulomb é adequada para a determinação dos parâmetros de resistência. Finalmente, desde um enfoque ambiental através da ferramenta de avaliação do ciclo de vida (ACV) foram avaliadas todas as misturas em função ao custo energético envolvido (energia incorporada). Interactions eau-fer-argilite : rôle des paramètres liquide/roche, fer/argilite, température sur la nature des phases minérales / Iron-water-argillite interactions : role of the parameters liquid/rock, iron/argillite, and temperature on the nature of mineral phases

Les interactions entre le fer métal et l'argilite du Callovo-Oxfordien choisie comme roche hôte pour le stockage des déchets radioactifs, a été étudiée expérimentalement. Le rôle des paramètres clés des transformations (rapports fer/argile, et liquide/roche) ont été étudiés à 90°C, et afin d'accélérer la cinétique des réactions à 150°C et 300°C. Les interstratifiés illite-smectite et les illites sont dissous et remplacés par de nouvelles phases argileuses. Les analyses au MET ont permis de déterminer des Fe-serpentines (phases à 7 Å, groupe de la berthiérine) à 90°C, des phases gonflantes de type smectite tri-octaédrique à 150°C, et des chlorites et des interstratifiés chlorite/smectite à 300°C. Quelle que soit la température, la transformation des feuillets illitiques (I et I/S) n'est pas complète et il reste toujours des feuillets à garniture interfoliaire sodi-calcique, interprétés comme des smectites résiduelles ou néoformées. En comparaison avec le système fer-smectite (bentonite), les différences portent sur la cinétique de réaction, beaucoup plus rapide dans le cas de l'argilite, et l'instabilité du quartz qui comme l'illite contribue à libérer le silicium nécessaire à la formation des silicates de fer. Les transformations observées trouvent des analogies avec les altérations hydrothermales et métasomatoses Fe-Mg des systèmes naturels / The interactions between the iron metal and the argillite from the Callovo-Oxfordian formation chosen as host for the disposal of the radioactive wastes, was experimentally studied. The role of the key parameters of the transformations (iron / clay, and liquid / rock ratios) was studied at 90°C, and, to accelerate reaction kinetics, at 150°C and 300°C. Mixed layered illite-smectite and illites are dissolved and replaced by new clay phases. TEM analyses show that Fe-serpentines (7 Å phases, group of the berthierine) predominates in run products at 90°C, tri-octaedral Fe-rich smectites at 150°C, and chlorites and probably smectite chlorite mixed layered at 300°C. Whatever the temperature, the illite and I/S replacement is not complete and trun products are always accompanied by sodi-calcic residual and/ or newly formed smectites. In comparison with the iron-smectite (bentonite) system, the differences concern the reaction kinetics which are much faster in the case of the argillite, and the instability of the quartz which, as the illite, contributes to release the silicium necessary for the formation of iron silicates. The observed process find analogies with the hydrothermal changes described in natural hydrothermal alterations and Fe-Mg metasomatism

Argilas pilarizadas: uma tecnologia limpa na reação de isomerização do óxido de estireno / Pillared clays: a clean technology in the isomerization reaction of styrene oxide

Neste trabalho, fracionou-se e tratou-se a argila Brasgel. Esta argila foi pilarizada em vários estágios de facionamento e/ou tratamento com 5 meq de Al / g de argila: (i) Al-PILC, a argila passou por todos os estágios de fracionamento e tratamento (ARG), (ii) Al-PILCFe, a argila não passou pela etapa de retirada de Fe livre (ARGFe) e (iii) Al-PILCFe/silte, a argila não passou pelas etapas de retirada de silte e Fe livre (ARGFE/silte). Em análise por DRX observou-se que as Al-PILCs apresentaram uma distância basal maior que as argilas de partida. A análise textural indicou que as argilas Al-PILCs e ARGs são materiais mesoporosos, com poros do tipo fenda estreita e do tipo fenda, respectivamente. Além disso, as Al-PILCs apresentaram área superficial razoavelmente maior que as ARGs correspondentes. Outras análises feitas nas argilas foram: teor de Si, Fe e Al; CTC; FTIR; TGA e TGD. As argilas Brasgel pilarizadas foram usadas como catalisador na reação de isomerização do óxido de estireno em hexano sob refluxo. A reação foi seletiva na formação de fenilacetaldeído. As argilas Al-PILCFe e Al-PILCFe/silte apresentaram melhor desempenho catalítico (100 % de conversão em 20 min de reação). Assim, as argilas Brasgel pilarizadas se apresentaram como uma Tecnologia Limpa na reação de isomerização do óxido de estireno ao fenilacetaldeído. Palavras-chave: Desenvolvimento Sustentável. The clay was pillared in several stages of fractionation and / or treatment with Al 5 meq / g of clay: (i) Al- PILC, the clay has passed through all stages of treatment and fractionation (ARG), (ii) Al-PILCFe, the clay would not pass the step of removal of free Fe (ARGFe) and (iii) Al-PILCFe/silt, clay has not gone through the steps of removing silt and free Fe (ARGFE/silt). XRD analysis showed that the Al-PILCs showed a basal spacing greater than the starting clays. Temperature impact on the consolidation and creep behaviour of compacted clayey soils / Impact de la température sur le comportement de consolidation et de fluage des sols argileux compacts

La consolidation des sols argileux est un enjeu majeur dans le domaine de la géotechnique pour la conception des ouvrages. Ceci est notamment le cas lorsque les sols argileux peuvent être exposés à des cycles thermiques, comme dans le cas des géostructures géothermiques, dépôts de stockage des déchets nucléaires, stockage de chaleur dans les remblais, etc. Ces changements de température pourraient avoir une incidence sur le comportement de consolidation des sols, tant du point de vue de la consolidation primaire que du fluage. Dans ce contexte, cette étude a examiné l'impact de la température sur le comportement de consolidation et du fluage d’argiles compactées saturées. L’impact de la nature du sol et de son histoire mécanique a été considéré. Une cellule œdométrique à température contrôlée a été utilisée pour effectuer des essais à vitesse de déformation constante (CRS) pour différentes vitesses de déformation (0,002% / min à 0,02% / min) dans une gamme de température comprise entre 5 ° C et 70 ° C. Deux argiles compactées, avec différentes histoires de chargement mécanique, ont été utilisés. Les résultats indiquent que les indices de compression et de gonflement pour les deux matériaux ne sont que légèrement modifiés par une augmentation de la température allant de 5 à 70°C. En revanche, la pression de préconsolidation des deux argiles diminue à mesure que la température augmente, cet effet étant cependant fonction de la nature du sol considéré. Le coefficient de consolidation augmente lorsque la température augmente pour les deux matériaux, ainsi que la conductivité hydraulique. La perméabilité intrinsèque reste stable en fonction de la température. L'indice de fluage augmente lorsque la température augmente pour les deux argiles. En outre, l'histoire des chargementsmodifie l’impact de la température sur le comportement mécanique. Ainsi, les résultats montrent une dilatation thermique pour les sols fortement surconsolidées et une contraction thermique des échantillons faibles et normalement consolidés. Cette étude a ainsi permis de mettre en évidence l’impact relatif d’un certain nombre de paramètres sur l’évolution du comportement des argiles compactées avec la température / Consolidation of clay soils is one of the main challenges in engineering design and construction. Clayey soils could be exposed to thermal cycles in some engineering applications such as geothermal piles, nuclear waste storages, heat storage in embankments, etc. These temperature changes could affect the primary consolidation as well as the creep behaviour of the soils. In this context, this study investigated the impact of temperature on consolidation behaviour and creep behaviour of saturated compacted clays. In addition, the impact of stress history and clay nature on the temperature dependent mechanical and hydraulic behaviours was also considered. Temperature controlled oedometric cells were employed to perform constant rate of strain (CRS) consolidation tests for different strain rates (0.002%/min to 0.02%/min) within a temperature range of 5° C to 70o C. Two different compacted saturated clays with different stress histories were used in these CRS tests (clay A: PI=31%, clay B: PI=23.8%). The results showed that the compression and swelling indices for both materials changed slightly with temperature and strain rate alteration. The preconsolidation pressure of both clays decreased as the temperature increased, but less in the case of clay B, while it decreased as the strain rate decreased for both materials. The hydraulic conductivity increased with temperature while the intrinsic permeability remained unchanged in the investigated range of temperature. The creep index increased as the temperature increased for both clays. In addition, the stress history has an impact on the temperature dependent mechanical and hydraulic behaviour of clay soils. Results showed a thermal dilation for highly overconsolidated soils and a thermal contraction for low and normally consolidated samples. The relative impact of several parameters on the modification of the behaviour of compacted clays with temperature was also assessed.

Influence de la cristallochimie des smectites sur la structuration de l'eau et des cations interfoliaires / Influence of smectites crystal chemistry on the structure of water and interlayer cations

Les minéraux argileux gonflants tels que les smectites sont omniprésents à la surface de la Terre et possèdent d'importantes capacités d'hydratation et d'absorption/rétention de contaminants. Ainsi, ces dernières exercent une influence clé sur les transferts d'éléments dans les environnements de surface. Ces propriétés sont particulièrement importantes quand les smectites sont utilisées comme barrières ouvragées ou géologiques pour les installations de contrôle des déchets. Les molécules d'eau dans l'interfoliaire représentent plus de 80% de l'eau en contact avec les smectites, dans des conditions non saturées. La caractérisation de l'organisation et de la dynamique de l'eau dans les smectites est donc essentielle pour prédire la mobilité des contaminants, dont le principal vecteur est l'eau. Dans ce cadre général, les présents travaux décrivent, dans un premier temps, la structuration interfoliaire eau/cations dans des conditions saturées, jusqu'alors méconnue. Puis, dans un second temps, nous avons examiné l'influence des paramètres structuraux (tels que la quantité et l'emplacement des charges, la composition chimique et plus particulièrement la présence de groupements fluors/hydroxyles) sur les propriétés d'hydratation des smectites. Une série d'échantillons couvrant toute la gamme de composition des smectites a donc été synthétisée et caractérisée structurellement. Une attention particulière a été accordée à la détermination du montant (isothermes vapeur d'eau de sorption) et la distribution (de diffraction des rayons X) de l'eau dans l'espace interfoliaire. La modélisation moléculaire a permis d'aller plus loin dans la compréhension de l'origine des comportements contrastés observés expérimentalement, et de déterminer l'influence des différents paramètres cristallochimiques sur l'hydratation de la smectite. Cette étape est essentielle pour la prédiction de la réactivité des smectites dans l'environnement sur la base d'un nombre limité de paramètres cristallochimiques. / Swelling clay minerals such as smectites are ubiquitous at the Earth surface and possess major hydration ability and contaminant uptake/retention capacity. As a consequence smectites exert a pivotal influence on elemental transfers in surficial environments. These properties are especially relevant also when smectites are used as sealant in engineered or geological barriers for waste disposal facilities. As interlayer H2O molecules account for more than 80% of smectite water in undersaturated conditions, characterization of H2O organization and dynamics in smectites interlayers is essential to determining the geometrical and dynamical properties of clay barriers for waste disposal and to predicting the mobility of contaminant whose principal vector is water. Within this general framework, the present works describe, in a first time, the structuration of interlayer water/cations in saturated conditions. Then, in a second time, review the influence of structural parameters such as the amount and location of layer charge deficit and the chemical composition (and more especially the presence of structural fluorine/hydroxyl) on smectite hydration properties. A set of samples covering the whole compositional range of swelling phyllosilicates has thus been synthesized and characterized chemically and structurally. Special attention was paid to determining the amount (water vapor sorption isotherms) and the distribution (X-ray diffraction) of interlayer water. Molecular modeling allowed unraveling the origin of the contrasting behaviors observed experimentally and to determine the influence of the different crystal-chemical parameters on smectite hydration. The experiments were performed by testing exploratory/planning method factorial and fractional factorial where the factors and levels are predetermined. The smectite clays were used originating from gypsum hub of the region Araripe-PE, and the dye used was Reactive Yellow BF-4G 200%. The smectite clay was collected and transported to the Laboratory of Soil Physics of UFRPE, where it held its preparation through air drying, lump breaking and classification in sieve to then submit it to the adsorption process. Upon completion of 22 complete factorial design it was concluded that the values of (96, 96,5 and 95,8%) corresponding to the percentage of of removal for "in-kind", chemically and thermally activated, respectively and adsorbed amounts of (4,80, 4,61 and 4,74 mg/g) for three clays. Showed that the activation processes used did not increase the adsorption capacity of smectite clay. The kinetic data were best fitted to the Freundlich isotherm, with an exponential distribution of active sites and that shows above the Langmuir equation for adsorption of cations and anions by clays. The kinetic model that best adapted to the results was the pseudosecond order model. In the factorial design study 24-1, at concentrations up to 500 mg/L obtains high percentage of color removal (92,37, 90,92 and 93,40%) and adsorbed amount (230,94, 227,31 and 233,50 mg/g) for three clays. The kinetic data fitted well to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. The kinetic model that best adapted to the results was the pseudosecond order model / Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o potencial de utiliza??o das argilas esmectitas, para remo??o de cor de efluentes t?xteis.
