A commercially available G_CFRP was warmed up to three different levels of thermal energy to identify the main damage mechanisms and some evidences for their intrinsic transitions. An experimental test rig for systematize a heat flux was developed in this dissertation, based on the Joule Effect. It was built using an isothermal container, an internal heat source and a real-time measurement system for test a sample by time. A standard conical-cylindrical tip was inserted into a soldering iron, commercially available and identified by three different levels of nominal electrical power, 40W (manufacturer A), 40W (manufacturer B), 100W and 150W, selected after screening tests: these power levels for the heat source, after one hour of heating and one hour of cooling in situ, carried out three different zones of degradation in the composite surface. The bench was instrumented with twelve thermocouples, a wattmeter and a video camera. The twelve specimens tested suffered different degradation mechanisms, analyzed by DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) and TG (Thermogravimetry) techniques, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy-Dispersive X-Rays (EDX) Analysis. Before and after each testing, it was measured the hardness of the sample by HRM (Hardness Rockwell M). Excellent correlations (R2=1) were obtained in the plots of the evaporated area after one hour of heating and one hour of cooling in situ versus (1) the respective power of heat source and (2) the central temperature of the sample. However, as resulting of the differential degradation of G_CFRP and their anisotropy, confirmed by their variable thermal properties, viscoelastic and plastic properties, there were both linear and non-linear behaviour between the temperature field and Rockwell M hardness measured in the radial and circumferential directions of the samples. Some morphological features of the damaged zones are presented and discussed, as, for example, the crazing and skeletonization mechanism of G_CFRP / Comp?sitos baseados em matrizes polim?ricas de PEEK e PTFE, refor?adas com fibra de carbono e grafite (G_CFRP) apresentam crescente aplica??o e desafios ?

This way, the purpose of this dissertation is a study of the mechanical response (strength and stiffness), modes (characteristics) of fracture and Residual Strength of an hybrid polymeric composite with and without a geometric discontinuity in its longitudinal section (with a reduction in the cross section) loaded by uniaxial tension. This geometric discontinuity is characterized by central holes of different diameters. The hybrid composite was fabricated as laminate (plate) and consisting of ortho-tereftalic polyester matrix reinforced by 04 outer layers of Jute fibers bidirectional fabrics and 01 central layer of E-glass bidirectional fabric. The laminate was industrially manufactured (Tecniplas Nordeste Ind?stria e Com?rcio Ltda.), obtained by the hand lay-up technique. Initially, a study of the volumetric density of the laminate was made in order to verify its use in lightweight structures. Also were performed comparative studies on the mechanical properties and fracture modes under the conditions of the specimens without the central hole and with the different holes. For evaluating the possible influence of the holes in the structural stability of the laminate, the Residual Strength of the composite was determined for each case of variation in hole diameter. As a complementary study, analyses of the macroscopic final fracture characteristic of the laminates were developed. The presence of the central hole of any sizes, negatively changed the ultimate tensile strength. Regarding the elastic modulus, moreover, the difference found between the specimens was within the range of tests displacement, showing the laminate stability related to the stiffness / A crescente demanda na utiliza??o dos materiais comp?sitos h?bridos torna imprescind?vel uma melhor compreens?o do seu comportamento frente ?s mais diversas condi??es de projeto, como a presen?a de descontinuidades geom?tricas nos elementos estruturais.

Energy-efficient transmission strategies for multiantenna systems

Nguyen, K.-G. (Kien-Giang) 03 June 2019 (has links)
Abstract The rapid evolution of wireless networks to meet the requirements of explosive data traffic demand is escalating energy consumption beyond sustainable limits. Consequently, energy efficiency (EE) has emerged as a key performance indicator for future wireless networks to address the increasing concern over greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable economic growth. This thesis studies energy-efficient transmission strategies for multiantenna wireless systems. The aim is to develop linear beamforming techniques maximizing the bit-per-Joule EE metric, focusing on three appealing scenarios: a coordinated multicell system; a fronthaul-constrained cloud radio access network (C-RAN); and a multi-pair wireless-powered relaying system. The primary emphasis is on suboptimal but efficient optimization approaches which are attractive for practical implementation. The problem of achieving EE fairness in a multicell multiple-input single-output downlink system is studied first. Specifically, coordinated beamforming is designed to maximize the minimum EE among all base stations. Novel efficient iterative optimization methods solving the design problem in both centralized and decentralized fashions are proposed. In a downlink C-RAN with finite-capacity fronthaul links, the network-wide EE performance is explored via a joint design of beamforming and remote radio head-user association. A relatively realistic power consumption model including rate-dependent circuit power and nonlinear power amplifiers' (PA) efficiency is also considered. To gain an insight into the optimal performance of the design problem, an algorithm achieving globally optimal solutions is devised. Towards practical implementation, two efficient iterative suboptimal methods are proposed aiming at yielding near-optimal performance. Finally, a multi-pair amplify-forward relaying network is considered, in which energy-constrained relays adopting time-switching protocol harvest energy from the radio frequency signals transmitted by users. To maintain EE fairness among all user pairs, joint optimization of system parameters, such as users' transmit power, relay beamforming, and energy harvesting (EH) time, is studied. Impacts of rate-dependent circuit power, nonlinear PAs' efficiency and nonlinear EH circuits on the achievable performance are also addressed. Ensiksi tarkastellaan tasapuolisen energiatehokkuuden saavuttamista monisoluisessa laskevan siirtotien moni-tulo yksi-lähtö (MISO, multiple-input single-output) -järjestelmässä. Koordinoitu keilanmuodostus on suunniteltu erityisesti maksimoimaan energiatehokkuuden minimitaso kaikilla tukiasemilla. Lopuksi keskitytään monen parin vahvista-ja-välitä eteenpäin (AF. amplify and forward) verkkoon, jossa aikajakokytkentää käyttävät energiarajoitetut toistimet keräävät energiaa käyttäjien lähettämistä radiosignaaleista. Jotta saavutetaan EE:n oikeudenmukaisuus kaikkien parien välillä, parametrit, kuten käyttäjien lähetysteho, toistimen keilanmuodostus, ja energiankeräysaika suunnitellaan yhdessä. Tässä tutkitaan nopeusriippuvaisen piirin tehon, epälineaarisen tehovahvistimen hyötysuhteen ja epälineaaristen energiankeräyspiirien tehon vaikutusta suorituskykyyn.

Methods: A systematic review of literature was conducted through a search protocol developed by the authors: articles were searched in Pubmed, Lilacs and Cochrane, between 1996 and 2010, of the type: controlled clinical trial, randomized or crossover; were adults, living with HIV/Aids under anti-retroviral therapy showing no opportunistic diseases. The intervention of interest was oral nutritional supplementation and/or lifestyle changes through specific nutritional therapy: dyslipidaemia, insulin resistance, lipodystrophy and systemic arterial hypertension. For qualitative classification of the articles we used the Jadad scale. The clinical trials, was controlled, randomized, open label, with a target population of adults with Aids in antiretroviral therapy and without opportunistic diseases. In the study on adherence was held randomized controlled trial and open. Among the 165 patients randomly assigned to two treatment groups for nutritional / dietary. The group treatment 1 (T1) and Treatment 2 (T2) received nutrition care, and the stage of nutritional diagnosis performed similarly in both groups and with service until completing treatment. With respect to conduct diet therapy groups (T1) and (T2)received nutritional counseling, group T2 also received individualized dietary plan. The groups had returns quaterly (T1) and monthly (T2). We considered dietary before and after the intervention and attendance at meetings as parameters of adherence to treatment. Results: In a systematic review 385 papers were found and seven met the inclusion criteria. The interventions applied in such studies were: diet plus physical exercises, diet plus supplement and only supplements. Dyslipidaemia was the common outcome to all studies. The studies assessing supplementation with omega 3 found significant reduction on triglycerides. Specific diet plus omega 3 supplementation showed an increase on HDL cholesterol. Supplementation with chromo nycotinate showed no effect on dyslipidaemia. Lifestyle modification, including diet and physical activity, drastically reduced the waist circumference, lipodystrophy and systolic arterial pressure. In the clinical trial among 165 patients in the study were 83 T1 and 82 T2. At the end of 7,3 months, 20% patients dropped out of the nutrition therapy. The T1 and T2 groups showed no significant difference in relation to socio demographic parameters. 15,63% of group T2 reached the goal considered optimal for adhesion while 42.65% of group T1 were 100% adherence to queries. The T1 and T2 groups showed a reduction to the risk of food consumption, increased consumption of protective foods, increased fractioning meals in T2 group. Conclusion: In the systematic review by lowering triglycerides with omega 3 supplementation was the greatest nutritional intervention with scientific evidence. Prescription diet seems to be the most appropriate intervention to increase HDL. Still can not make inferences about the nutritional treatment of total cholesterol, LDL and insulin resistance. In the study of adherence, there were no differences between groups T1and T2, in relation to adherence and in relation to the goals of food consumption.

4G LTE : eMBMS with MBSFN Service Simulation using OPNET

Walid, Abdelrahman January 2014 (has links)
Long Term Evolution (LTE) known in the market as 4G LTE, it is an evolution of the GSM/UMTS standard. The overall aim of LTE was to provide a new radio access technology focusing on packet-switched data only. LTE has provided a new peak download rates, low data transfer latencies, and improved the support for mobility. 3Th Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specialized that LTE released 10 and beyond known as LTE-advanced it is the second evolution of LTE. It has some services such as Coordinated Multipoint Transmission and Reception (CoMP), evolved Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service (eMBMS) with Multicast-Broadcast Single-Frequency Network (MBSFN). The development still continuous on LTE-advanced, it is intended to meet the requirement of advanced application that will become common in the wireless marketplace in future. The goals of this project is to simulate one of LTE-A services on LTE standard such as CoMP or/and eMBMS with MBSFN using OPENT LTE, and measure some statistic such as spectral efficiency and also some other statistics, describe centralization vs. decentralization in LTE, and synchronization in the base station in LTE. OPNET LTE support eMBMS with MBSFN, and don’t support CoMP, the simulation has been done by using eMBMS with MBSFN. Finally the objectives of the project has achieved, the result show that when eMBMS with MBSFN is implemented the throughput increased in the downlink to about 5.52 Mbps and in the uplink to about 5.18 Mbps, and also the system spectral efficiency increased in eNB1 from about 10.25 (bits/s/Hz/cell) to about 13.75 (bits/s/Hz/cell) and in eNB2 from about 10.25 (bits/s/Hz/cell) to about 17.25 (bits/s/Hz/cell). The project also answers if it is possible to have centralization in LTE, describe synchronization in the base station in LTE, and if OPNET is useful for big research.
