投資型商品申訴問題與監理之研究 / The Study of investment link product compliant and regulatory余家和, Yu,Julie Unknown Date (has links)
Investment-linked product is becoming a popular insurance product in the recent years. Many insurance companies holds great confidence in the development of this product, and encourages the growing sales of investment-linked product thru multiple channels. The governing authorities continuously publishing new regulations or making amendments to better manage the product and the process. However, the statistics showed regulatory requirements did not help to reduce the investment-linked product compliant ratio. By analyzing the sales channels and complaint ratio, this study wishes to put forward recommendations for the governing authorities and the insurers to improve the complaint ratios.
Different sales channel is characterized by its specialty and strength. Currently, investment-linked products are being sold thru agency and bancassurance channels. According to the publicly released statistic of insurance compliant by Insurance Bureau of Financial Supervisor Committee (FSC), there are three main issues:
1.Non-claim compliant ratio remains high since the inception of investment-linked product.
2.In the recent three years, insurance companies whose sales are mostly investment-linked product have higher ratio of non-claim compliant.
3.Bancassurance and brokerage channels experience higher ratio of non-claim compliant comparing to agency channel when selling investment-linked product.
Complaints of investment-linked product in the life insurance companies mostly resulted from improper selling and misrepresented or misleading information. Thus, suggestions for insurers and the governing authorities are followed:
1.For insurers, they have to revisit their product design methodology, and also need to manage and educate each channel to prevent the occurrence of insurance compliant.
2.For authorities, the regulatory focus should be channel specific since channels operate differently.
Only when improper selling and misrepresenting issues are being addressed, and customer’s image for investment-link product being corrected, then we can see light and hope in the growing needs of investment-linked product.

Právo Sharia, zejména islámské bankovnictví, ve vztazích s mezinárodním prvkem / Sharia Law, particularly Islamic banking, in relations with international elementsHrdličková, Ivana January 2012 (has links)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Law Abstract of the dissertation The title of the dissertation: Sharia Law, particularly Islamic banking, in relations with international elements Author: JUDr. Ivana Hrdličková Supervisor: Prof. JUDr. Monika Pauknerová, CSc., DSc. Prague, February 2012 Key words: Islamic finance, sharia, mudaraba, musharaka, murabaha, ijara, sharia compliant, international law, choice of law, contract, riba, gharar, maisir. The dissertation, Sharia law, particularly Islamic Banking in the relations with international elements, considers an actual topic and branch of islamic law. Neither islam nor islamic law is a legal system applicable at any particular territory. However, legislation of the countries with majority of muslim population, is based, more or less, on islamic law. Whereas due to migration and globalization, islamic law unavoidably interferes in international law. The legal regulation of international private law under the terms stipulated by the law leads to the use of foreign law. One can thus meet the legislation based on islamic law, including in the field of contract law. In commercial contracts, where the one side is from countries where islamic law is a source of legislation, may be the choice of law (in accordance with article 3 of Rome I), which form's the basis...

Contribution à la commande et l'observation des actionneurs électropneumatiques : de l'intérêt de la transformée A-T / Contribution to the control and the observation of the electropneumatic actuators : introducing the A-T transformationAbry, Frédéric 02 December 2013 (has links)
Control of electropneumatic actuator is a subject which has been thoroughly dealt with in the past decades. The strongly non-linear behavior of those systems made them a particularly relevant case study for applications of the non linear control theory. The use of those techniques has been compared to the traditional linear approaches and is generally considered as more efficient in terms of precision and response time. In this work, we specifically deal with the multivariable character of this actuator and we introduce the A-T transformation, similar to the Park Transformation used for electrical systems study, in order to give a strict feedback form to its state model, clarify the physical phenomena occurring during its control and distinguish the system's two degrees of freedom. This transformation allows a comparison with electrical motors described in the Park's frame. This parallel allows to solution the complex problem of zero speed observation of the piston's position by transferring the methodologies which have been previously used on electrical systems. The utilization of the two degrees of freedom is illustrated by the synthesis of control law which combines the piston position trajectory tracking with the respect of a given criterion (which can be the pressurization level or the instantaneous gas consummation optimization). The use of an electropneumatic actuator as a variable stiffness actuator (VSA) is studied. A control law base on the A-T transform is proposed in order to simultaneously control the position and the pneumatic stiffness of the actuator. A control gains tuning strategy is proposed to allow the system closed loop impedance tuning. The influence of the pneumatic stiffness over the closed loop stiffness is studied. An alternative energy source (pressurized helium) is also used for the first time. The influence of the change of gas over the actuator sizing is studied and a methodology allowing using control laws designed for air applications is proposed. Every proposition are tested and validated using an innovative test bench with a unique structure. The latter combines two actuators. One is an electropneumatic actuator (the one studied) and the other one is a linear motor (used as the load actuator). The use of the latter allows disturbance generation in a wide bandwidth and the real-time tuning of the load dynamic characteristics. Finally, the tools developed in this PHD are used in order to validate the implementation of an electropneumatic solution to the thrust vector control problem of a nano scale space launcher. Data provided by the CNES (the French National Space Agency) are used to de ne specific requirements and the flight conditions are reproduced on the test bench to assess the solution quality.

Probe Modules for Wafer-Level Testing of Gigascale Chips with Electrical and Optical I/O InterconnectsThacker, Hiren Dilipkumar 10 July 2006 (has links)
The use of optical input/output (I/O) interconnects, in addition to electrical I/Os, is a promising approach for achieving high-bandwidth, chip-to-board communications required for future high-performance gigascale chip-based systems. While numerous efforts are underway to investigate the integration of optoelectronics and silicon microelectronics, virtually no work has been reported relating to testing of such chips. The objective of this research is to explore methods that enable wafer-level testing of gigascale chips having electrical and optical I/O interconnects. A major challenge in achieving this is to develop probe modules which would allow high-precision, temporary interconnection of a multitude of electrical and optical I/Os, in a chip-size area, to automated test equipment. A probe module would need to do this in a rapid, step-and-repeat manner across all the chips on the wafer. In this work, two candidate probe modules were devised, batch-fabricated on Si using microfabrication techniques, and successfully demonstrated. The first probe module consists of compliant electrical probes (10^3 probes/cm^2) fabricated alongside grating-in-waveguide optical probes. The second module consists of micro-opto-electro-mechanical-systems (MOEMS)-based microsocket probes (10^4 probes/cm^2) to interface a chip with polymer pillar-based electrical and optical I/Os. High-density through-wafer interconnects are an essential attribute in both probe substrates for transferring electrical and optical signals to the substrate back-side. Fabrication and characterization of metal-clad, metal-filled, and polymer-filled through-wafer interconnects as well as process integration with probe substrate fabrication are described and numerous possible redistribution schemes are explicated. Chips with optical and electrical I/Os are an emerging technology, and one that test engineers are likely to encounter in the near future. The contributions of this thesis are to help understand and address the issues relating to joint electrical and optical testing during manufacturing.

The Asperity-deformation Model Improvements and Its Applications to Velocity InversionBui, Hoa Q. 16 January 2010 (has links)
Quantifying the influence of pressure on the effective elastic rock properties
is important for applications in rock physics and reservoir characterization. Here I
investigate the relationship between effective pressure and seismic velocities by performing
inversion on the laboratory-measured data from a suite of clastic, carbonate
and igneous rocks, using different analytic and discrete inversion schemes. I explore
the utility of a physical model that models a natural fracture as supported by asperities
of varying heights, when an effective pressure deforms the tallest asperities,
bringing the shorter ones into contact while increasing the overall fracture stiffness.
Thus, the model is known as the ?asperity-deformation? (ADM) or ?bed-of-nails?
(BNM) model. Existing analytic solutions include one that assumes the host rock is
infinitely more rigid than the fractures, and one that takes the host-rock compliance
into account. Inversion results indicate that although both solutions can fit the data
to within first-order approximation, some systematic misfits exist as a result of using
the rigid-host solution, whereas compliant-host inversion returns smaller and random
misfits, yet out-of-range parameter estimates. These problems indicate the effects of
nonlinear elastic deformation whose degree varies from rock to rock. Consequently,
I extend the model to allow for the pressure dependence of the host rock, thereby
physically interpreting the nonlinear behaviors of deformation. Furthermore, I apply
a discrete grid-search inversion scheme that generalizes the distribution of asperity
heights, thus accurately reproduces velocity profiles, significantly improves the fit and helps to visualize the distribution of asperities. I compare the analytic and numerical
asperity-deformation models with the existing physical model of elliptical ?pennyshape?
cracks with a pore-aspect-ratio (PAR) spectrum in terms of physical meaning
and data-fitting ability. The comparison results provide a link and demonstrate the
consistency between the use of the two physical models, making a better understanding
of the microstructure as well as the contact mechanism and physical behaviors of
rocks under pressure. ADM-based solutions, therefore, have the potential to facilitate
modeling and interpretation of applications such as time-lapse seismic investigations
of fractured reservoirs.

Design Of Two-Axis Displacement-Amplifying Compliant Mechanisms Using Topology OptimizationDinesh, M 01 July 2008 (has links)
This thesis deals with the design of two-axis displacement-amplifying compliant mechanisms (DaCMs) using topology optimization. The two-axis compliant mechanisms considered here are XY positioners and two-axis inertial sensors. A building block approach, with several single-axis DaCMs as building blocks, is used to conceive designs of compliant platforms that provide two orthogonal and independent movement of a common platform. Spring-mass-lever (SML) models of these designs are developed to simplify the analysis and design of the complicated arrangements of building blocks.
The XY positioners designed in this work have perfectly de-coupled motion without compromising on the frequency; the best design of the stage has a displacement amplification of five resulting in the enhanced range of 4.2 % of the mechanism size–a significant improvement from the 1.67 %, the maximum range of the designs reported so far. Nearly 100% improvement is observed in the sensitivity of the two-axis accelerometer as compared with an existing design that occupied the same area.
Multiple prototypes of XY positioners were fabricated on polypropylene sheets using CNC machining; and on spring steel and aluminium using wire-cut electro discharge machining. Mask layouts for two-layer two-axis accelerometers are designed for micro-fabrication using reactive ion etching and wafer bonding.

A Design Procedure for Flapping Wings Comprising Piezoelectric Actuators, Driver Circuit, and a Compliant MechanismChattaraj, Nilanjan January 2015 (has links) (PDF)
Flapping-wing micro air vehicle (MAV) is an emerging micro-robotic technology, which has several challenges toward its practical implementation. Inspired by insect flight, researchers have adopted bio-mimicking approach to accomplish its engineering model. There are several methods to synthesize such an electromechanical system. A piezoelectric actuator driven flapping mechanism, being voltage controlled, monolithic, and of solid state type exhibits greater potential than any conventional motor driven flapping wing mechanism at small scale. However, the demand for large tip deflection with constrained mass introduces several challenges in the design of such piezoelectric actuators for this application. The mass constraint restricts the geometry, but applying high electric field we can increase the tip deflection in a piezoelectric actuator.
Here we have investigated performance of rectangular piezo-actuator at high electric field. The performance measuring attributes such as, the tip deflection, block force, block moment, block load, output strain energy, output energy density, input electrical energy, and energy efficiency are analytically calculated for the actuator at high electric field. The analytical results suggest that the performance of such an actuator can be improved by tailoring the geometry while keeping the mass and capacitance constant. Thereby, a tapered piezoelectric bimorph cantilever actuator can provide better electromechanical performance for out-of-plane deflection, compared to a rectangular piezoelectric bimorph of equal mass and capacitance. The constant capacitance provides facility to keep the electronic signal bandwidth unchanged. We have analytically presented improvement in block force and its corresponding output strain energy, energy density and energy effi- ciency with tapered geometry. We have quantitatively and comparatively shown the per- formance improvement. Then, we have considered a rigid extension of non-piezoelectric material at the tip of the piezo-actuator to increase the tip deflection. We have an- alytically investigated the effect of thick and thin rigid extension of non-piezoelectric material on the performance of this piezo-actuator. The formulation provides scope for multi-objective optimization for the actuator subjected to mechanical and electrical con- straints, and leads to the findings of some useful pareto optimal solutions. Piezoelectric materials are polarized in a certain direction. Driving a piezoelectric actuator by high electric field in a direction opposite to the polarized direction can destroy the piezo- electric property. Therefore, unipolar high electric field is recommended to drive such actuators. We have discussed the drawbacks of existing switching amplifier based piezo- electric drivers for flapping wing MAV application, and have suggested an active filter based voltage driver to operate a piezoelectric actuator in such cases. The active filter is designed to have a low pass bandwidth, and use Chebyshev polynomial to produce unipolar high voltage of low flapping frequency. Adjustment of flapping frequency by this voltage driver is compatible with radio control communication.
To accomplish the flapping-wing mechanism, we have addressed a compatible dis- tributed compliant mechanism, which acts like a transmission between the flapping wing of a micro air vehicle and the laminated piezoelectric actuator, discussed above. The mechanism takes translational deflection at its input from the piezoelectric actuator and provides angular deflection at its output, which causes flapping. The feasibility of the mechanism is investigated by using spring-lever (SL) model. A basic design of the com- pliant mechanism is obtained by topology optimization, and the final mechanism is pro- totyped using VeroWhitePlus RGD835 material with an Objet Connex 3D printer. We made a bench-top experimental setup and demonstrated the flapping motion by actuating the distributed compliant mechanism with a piezoelectric bimorph actuator.

Local linear stability of fluid-structure interactions is investigated in uncustomary fields such as swept, unswept and asymptotic suction incompressible boundary layers developing over compliant, porous plates –in the limit of small permeability– or relatistically-modeled incompressible flows over a canopy. Results show that compliance has a stabilizing effect on the 3D most instable hydrodynamic mode but allows hydroelastic modes to emerge, which take the form of travelling wave flutter instabilities ; conversely, permeability tends to damp the latter ones but to destabilize the former ones. Transition on swept wings also locally depends on 3D unviscid instabilities called Crossflow vortices, hardly unstabilized by permeability ; this provides promizing outlets, since permeability has still a strong positive effect on 3D hydroelastic modes. In the field of incompressible parallel boundary layer flows with uniform suction through the wall, most of the existing studies are based on the assumption that plate’s porosity and flexibility are negligible. Nevertheless, proof is given here that permeability (linked to suction) exerts a strong destabilizing effect on the Tollmien-Schlichting most instable mode. Besides, compliance (that can result from lightering measures) reveals to provoke an absolute instability that is likely to contaminate the entire domain. Finally, attention is paid to incompressible flows across a canopy, that are similar to mixing layers. Linear stability of the coherent motions called monami or honami is adressed using a relatistically-computed velocity profile, then compared to the results obtained with the customary piecewise linear velocity profile. Then, drag force variations are taken into account as soon as velocity profile computing. The result is that drag happens to have a destabilizing effect on the flow, instead of the commonly admitted damping effect.

Previous issue date: 2018-04-13 / Islamic finance has been a trendy topic globally, gaining the attention of Muslims and non-Muslims. It stands for a financial system that follows the sharia (Islamic law), which is guided by ethical principles and social justice. The main prohibition usually linked to Islamic finance is of interest, but there is much more to it. It offers a portfolio of products and services which compete with the ones present in the conventional system, however these preserve the Islamic principles. Despite the global reach, Islamic finance did not set foot in Brazil or Latin America overall as it did in Europe and Asia especially. Therefore, this paper tries do unveil what’s behind this financial system and try to find ways to make it’s introduction in Brazil possible. In order to reach this, a qualitative research guided by the presentation of countries that have introduced Islamic finance, and interviews conducted with main players in Brazil linked to Islamic finance. The results of the research reflected partially the perspective of the academia, the expert, the Brazilian market and the Islamic finance industry, given that each interviewee represented one or more of these categories. This was completed with the overall conclusions drawn from the case studies presented, taking the main lessons form their experience. A coding system was developed to filter and organize the results. In terms of the opportunities Islamic finance has in Brazil, what stands out the most is the strong relation between Brazil and the Arab countries (adopters of Islamic finance), especially in exports, which represent situations in which Islamic finance could be adopted to intermediate the financing. The obstacles preventing this from happening are many, and are mainly linked to the unfamiliarity of the subject in the market and the delicate environment Brazil finds itself in, which is not favorable for new projects or investments. The Islamic finance procedures themselves are complicated and difficult, which makes the introduction process more complex. Given all that, there are many measures that can be taken already in order to incentive the introduction of Islamic finance in Brazil or even conduct some isolated Islamic finance operations. Murabahah is an example of a cost plus contract that can be used by exporters to sell their commodity abroad and sukuk is an alternative method for raising money with certificates backed by assets. These two operations can be adopted by Brazilian companies, however need to be conducted abroad due to regulatory complications. For the long term, having experts and professionals interested in Islamic finance ‘spreading the word’ and digging deeper into the subject in their workplace will open opportunities for the companies they work for and be an incentive for future adoption of Islamic finance by others. Entities also working towards the promotion of the halal (sharia-compliant) industries, which can be considered a fuel for Islamic finance, and tightening the relations between Brazil and the Arab countries, will help close the gap and familiarize both sides with the opportunities available.
