Cloud-based open-source enterprise content management model at a SME operating in the manufacturing sector

Montesinos-Rosales, Andrea, Salas-Villacorta, Sebastian, Mauricio-Sanchez, David, Raymundo-Ibañez, Carlos 12 November 2019 (has links)
Every year, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) expand their participation in the Peruvian market, while facing high internal disorganization issues that stifle their growth. This problem is rooted on the fact that the contents generated by these companies are not usually adequately recorded, managed, and exploited, and thus negatively affecting the organization and their competitiveness levels. Now, although most of this issue may be solved through enterprise content management (ECM) solutions, they are not affordable for most SMEs because of their high prices. Within this context, this study proposes the implementation of a cloud-based open-source ECM model at a manufacturing SME in Peru. Through this model, the company was able to access the benefits of an ECM to restructure the way they manage content, gaining 67% more efficiency, establishing a collaboration channel between employees, suppliers, and customers, and reporting a 93% model adaptation rate among staff members. / Revisión por pares

Webbplats i WordPress : Modulär uppbyggnad med ACF plugin

Hjemdahl, Moa January 2021 (has links)
The report is about the project with the aim of building a front-end solution on a website in the WCMS WordPress for the customer Photon Sports through the full-service agency Oh My. The website, which will be built from an already developed design, will showcase the company's product and include a function for interested parties to sign up for a waiting list. The structure must be made so flexible in terms of content that the customer can manage and update the website through the WordPress admin interface after the completed project. The modules and other elements that will build the subpages on the website are created with the WordPress plugin Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), self-written code in the languages HTML and PHP, CSS with Tailwind for styling, JS for functionality, and with WordPress' functions for mail and menus. The project results in a finished solution that is functional, responsive, available in different formats, and that lives up to the design requirements. The content of the website is flexible for the customer to handle and the basic idea of the WCMS comes in handy for both the customer and the developer, even if the usability of the admin interface does not always live up to its full potential. Results of technical tests such as validation of code and the speed of the website show points that do not reach the highest level but are concluded not to be fixed due to possibility or choice. The entire work with the project has shown lessons in method and approach, thoughts on possible further solutions to usability, and reflection on ethical and social parts of the project concerning accessibility and laws.

Olofsson, Marcus January 2018 (has links)

Online Course Management System for WIC Nutrition Education and Study of Its Effectiveness in Behavioral and Attitude Changes

Amy, Ryan A. 18 March 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Social media has been used in a variety of contexts to connect people of varying backgrounds and as a method of teaching. This thesis collaborated with the Utah County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) department to develop an online course management system that facilitated research to evaluate the effectiveness of social media on nutrition behavior and attitude changes among WIC clients. We created a toddler themed Facebook page in conjunction with the online nutrition classes and provided the opportunity for clients to use them. Previous social media research used individuals that had agreed to participate in the social media experiment whereas this research let them choose whether or not to participate. The Facebook intervention proved ineffective. In response, we developed surveys to gather the criteria and strategies from WIC clients and existing WIC themed Facebook pages that could be used for a best-case social media intervention.

Holding Hands and Drying Tears: Effectiveness of Student Employees in Promoting a Successful LMS Implementation

Johnson, Cary Ann 01 December 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Two-thirds of higher education institutions are either currently involved in the process of or will soon begin to review their learning management system strategy (Green, 2012). Transitioning from one LMS to another is an endeavor that utilizes the entire institution and requires a great deal of strategic planning and cooperation. The literature described the involvement of instructional designers and technology support as key players in this transition process over a period of parallel time. When BYU transitioned from Blackboard to Learning Suite, a team of student employees managed the majority of the change. While there was very little time when Blackboard and Learning Suite ran in parallel, these employees provided support to faculty across the university. Data for this research included interviews with five faculty consultants who worked closely with faculty on the design of their courses and nine faculty members who used the student employees throughout the process along with survey data and the database kept to track interactions with the faculty members. Interview data were analyzed using a Spradley (1979) analysis. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the survey and interaction data. Major findings suggested that the student employees were the critical component for helping smooth the transition. They were used extensively by the faculty members and logged over 41,000 points of contact over a period one year and four months. The student employees provided side-by-side help to resolve faculty concerns and answer questions. This team added capacity and tool knowledge that supported both faculty members and the consultants.

Drupal and ReactJS : An Evaluation of Decoupled Drupal and ReactJS

Lundqvist, Linus January 2023 (has links)
With almost 70% of the population being active internet users and with signs that this number only will increase in the coming years, the value for companies, organisations, and hobbyists to be able to share what is important to them will also increase. One of the most common ways to gain attraction on the internet is with the help of a website. There are multiple ways to create a website, with one popular approach is with the help of content managing systems (CMS). Different CMSs offer a range of functionality and range in complexity. A staple name in the CMS community is Drupal. Drupal can provide the entirety of an application but can also be used in a decoupled mode where it serves as the backend for a frontend developed with other technologies, e.g. a JavaScript library like ReactJS. This thesis aimed to evaluate how the JavaScript library ReactJS interacted with Drupal when used in its decoupled mode. Different methods, such as JSON:API and GraphQL, to export data from the Drupal site were also compared. The thesis also aimed to guide less experienced developers through their journey of decoupled CMSs. Through extensive research about Drupal and ReactJS, as well as the core functionalities, the thesis provides the necessary groundwork for implementing a decoupled application. The concepts are then further expanded with realistic examples to provide a deeper understanding of the subject. By implementing a realist web application containing common functionalities found in modern web applications, it could be concluded that Drupal and ReactJS complemented each other excellently by providing each other with features the other one did not have. Difficulties encountered were related to the unique technologies rather than their collaboration. The comparison between JSON:API and GraphQL elucidated clear benefits and drawbacks for each, providing a guide for developers to choose based on their specific needs. Future research could broaden the scope to other CMSs and JavaScript libraries to enhance the understanding of decoupled architecture. Exploring the implementation of custom APIs is also suggested for further studies.

Ruby and PHP Development: A Comparative study of Development and Application using Content Management Systems RefineryCMS and Concrete5

Melinda, Dinh January 2014 (has links)
With many options to choose from when designing and developing websites, it can be difficult for a beginner developer to know what to choose. This thesis compares how easy it is for a beginner to learn and use the two Content Management Systems (CMS) Concrete5 and RefineryCMS to build a web application. Concrete5 uses PHP and RefineryCMS uses Ruby and the ease of learning the basics of these programming languages is also discussed. To compare the two CMSs, different steps were documented and compared. The implementation was done on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.2, late 2011 model. Relevant features were also compared according to the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.The results showed a significant difference between the two CMSs, even though both had their benefits and drawbacks. In conclusion, Concrete5 was better for building a basic website under the writer’s conditions, thanks to the many features, modules, packages, plugins and templates available, and because it required less time and effort to install. This conclusion is limited to the writer’s conditions and it is possible that RefineryCMS could have worked better than found, if the conditions had been different.

Hybrid Spectral Micro-CT: System Implementation, Exposure Reduction, K-edge Imaging Optimization, and Content Management

Bennett, James 21 February 2014 (has links)
Spectral computed tomography (CT) has proven an important development in biomedical imaging, yet there are several limitations to this nascent technology. Near-term implementation of spectral CT imaging can be enhanced using a hybrid architecture that integrates a narrow-beam spectral 'interior' imaging chain integrated with a traditional wide-beam 'global' imaging chain. The first study demonstrates the feasibility of hybrid spectral micro-CT architecture with a first-of-its-kind system implementation and preliminary results showing improved contrast resolution and spatial resolution. The second study seeks to characterize the hybrid spectral micro-CT scan protocol for reduction of radiation exposure. In the third study, the spectral 'interior' imaging chain was optimized for K-edge imaging of high-z elemental contrast agents. In the final study, an open-source, low-cost solution for managing digital content in an academic setting was demonstrated. The results of these studies confirm the merits of a hybrid architecture and warrant further consideration in future pre-clinical and clinical spectral micro-CT and CT scanner design and protocols. / Ph.
