Lärare i frontlinjen : Förebyggande insatser i utsatta skolmiljöer

Kharboutli, Omar January 2024 (has links)
This work investigates teachers' perspectives on their responsibilities and conditions for conducting crime prevention work in Swedish schools located in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. Due to unclear guidelines regarding the teachers' role in crime prevention, the study focuses on how teachers perceive and approach these tasks. Using a qualitative research approach based on semi-structured interviews with five teachers, in three different school, the study explores the challenges and opportunities teachers face in this work. The collected empirical material was analyzed through thematic analysis and interpreted using relevant theories, such as Social band theory. The study's findings show that despite uncertainty about their defined responsibilities, teachers take an active role and see crime prevention work as an integral part of their professional role. The conclusions emphasize that teachers' ability to work crime-preventively is strongly influenced by challenges at both the individual and societal level, including high crime rates, limited future prospects, social traumas, and stigmatization. Furthermore, the study highlights that effective crime prevention strategies largely involve building strong relationships with students and creating motivation and meaningfulness in their studies to reduce the risk of deviant behaviors.

Misdaadvoorkoming by besigheidskomplekse : 'n gevallestudie by die Centurionsentrum / Crime prevention at business complexes : a case study at Centurion Centre

Coetzer, Carina 11 1900 (has links)
Misdaadvoorkoming; verdedigbareruimte, besigheidskompleks, winkelsentrum, omgewingsontwerp. / In this section of research, crime prevention at business complexes was examined and Oscar Newman's defensible space theory was used in the analysis. Centurion Centre was chosen as a study case because it has an open plan design. This has the effect that some parts of the centre cannot be closed at night. Centurion Centre was described in terms of the defensible space mechanisms. A crime prevention model was drawn up for Centurion Centre and recommendations were made regarding the security of future designs for business complexes. This field of study and approach to crime prevention is, however, very new in South Africa and suggestions for more research have been made. Crime prevention and the criminal justice systems of Nigeria and South Africa : a comparative perspective.

Olutola, Adewale Adisa. January 2011 (has links)
Thesis (DTech. degree in Policing)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2011. / A qualitative research design, using the research technique of interviews with indirect observation, was adopted for this study. A total of twenty (20) crime prevention practitioners in the criminal justice structures of Nigeria and South Africa were interviewed for the purpose of data gathering. The interview questions were standardised but open-ended. The main findings are the following: At present, none of the criminal justice institutions in Nigeria and South Africa can prevent crime. Long term crime prevention is presently not possible in Nigeria and South Africa as the root causes of crime in the two countries lie outside the control of the criminal justice systems. The root causes of crime in the two countries were identified as being, among others, dysfunctional family settings, a history of violence, accessibility and availability of criminological commodities, real need and poverty, inequality among the population groups, greed on the part of those that have, and poor leadership. The main recommendation is as follows: The governments of Nigeria and South Africa need to focus their attention on the root causes of crime and not only on the criminal justice institutions.

Implications of housing design and layout systems for crime prevention in housing residential neighbourhoods in the metropolitan areas of Durban.

Ndlovu, Fundokuhle P. January 2001 (has links)
It is believed that housing designs and layout systems for crime prevention have either positive or negative implications on the actual prevention of crime. Therefore this research explores the exact implications that housing designs and layout systems have in relation to crime especially in neighborhoods of Durban. In this regard, the concepts, assumptions surrounding work on the field, including defensible space principles, crime prevention through environmental design and the housing design principles are thoroughly discussed. Various principles especially defensible space principles are emphasized in this study: Surveillance, territoriality, access control, image and milieu. Hence other supporting paradimes like housing design principles including housing structures, support activities and gated communities are highly elaborated. These analytical criteria were used to examine two neighboring residential areas characterized by different planning and design systems in the area of Woodlands in terms safety. The assessment is mainly a comparison of the gated residential neighbourhood and the non-gated residential neighbourhood. Procedurally the evaluation entails analyzing both areas in terms of layout and housing design, observing both areas in terms of behavior and reaction of residents within their areas and analyzing the views and perceptions of people living in both areas. The findings indicate that in comparing the two areas in terms of safety the gated residential neighbourhoods displays high level of safety as compared to the non-gated community. Overall housing design and layout systems for crime prevention have positive implications on crime reduction in residential areas. However different recommendations are made in an attempt to improve crime free housing designs in offering both real and perceived safety. / Thesis (M.T.R.P.)-University of Natal, 2001.

"I den bästa av världar skulle man haft ännu mer samarbete, hela tiden" : En kvalitativ studie om nybyggnation av en stadsdelspark ur ett brottsförebyggande- och trygghetsskapande perspektiv / “In the best of worlds, there should have been more cooperation, all the time”

Ivsjö, Clara, Haglöf, Maria January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of our study has been to examine, from a crime prevention- and safety perspective, the cooperation between key-actors in creating an urban park. Material from semi-structured interviews with key- actors as well as documents relating to the process have been the basis for a qualitative content analysis. The theoretical framework we have used is routine activity theory, situational crime prevention and CPTED. The result showed that cooperation between the parties was not present in the initial planning. Furthermore, everyone involved emphasizes that it could be a lesson for future projects, which possibly could have resulted in another embodiment of the park in some respects. The complexity of balancing crime prevention and aesthetic measures is highlighted, and the action that is now being taken are to address problems that have arisen. Which could possibly have been prevented if it had been considered in the planning.
