Os valores e a cultura dos designers fazem parte do processo projetual e podem ser considerados de extrema relevância, visto que a cultura do designer pode ser uma fonte de inovação e de criatividade no decorrer do processo projetual do design. Este trabalho aborda o papel das referências culturais do designer gráfico no seu processo de trabalho. Busca descrever como os designers gráficos atuantes no estado do Rio Grande do Sul, mais precisamente na cidade de Porto Alegre, percebem o efeito de suas atividades culturais e de seu ambiente cultural em seu repertório e na sua prática projetual. O estudo busca caracterizar a relação entre a cultura do designer e a prática de design gráfico, identificar a presença do repertório cultural no discurso dos designers gráficos e identificar os fatores que emergem como relevantes no discurso dos designers gráficos. Para isso foram realizadas entrevistas com seis designers gráficos atuantes em Porto Alegre. A análise das entrevistas sugere que, em todos os casos, o desenvolvimento profissional está relacionado com o repertório cultural, ficando claro o quanto esses designers reconhecem que sua atividade profissional é afetada por seu repertório e ambiente cultural. Foram identificados sete fatores que emergem como relevantes no discurso dos designers gráficos e que podem explicar suas trajetórias profissionais: formação orientada a uma profissão criativa desde a infância; busca por uma atividade criativa; influência das artes plásticas; conhecimento de outras culturas (viagens, história); aprendizagem por meio de troca com colegas experientes; ampliação constante do repertório (eventos culturais, cursos); e relacionamento com clientes. / Values and culture of designers are part of design process and can be considered extremely relevant, since a culture of designer can be a source of innovation and creativity during design process of design. Search describe how graphic designers actants in Rio Grande do Sul state, more precisely in the city of Porto Alegre, perceived the effect of their cultural activities and their cultural environment in their repertoire and their design practice. This study aims to characterize the relationship between culture of design and graphic design practice, identify presence of cultural repertoire in graphic designers' discourse and identify factors that emerge as relevant in the discourse of graphic designers. For that interviews with six graphic designers actants in Porto Alegre. Analysis of interviews showed that, in all cases, the professional development is related with cultural repertoire, becoming clear how much these designers recognize that their professional activity is affected by your repertoire and cultural environment. Seven factors were identified that emerge as relevant in the graphic designers’ discourse and may explain their professional trajectories: formation oriented to creative profession since childhood; search for creative activity; influence of visual arts; knowledge of other cultures (travel, history); learning through exchanges with experienced colleagues; constantly expanding repertoire (cultural events, courses); and customer relationships.

Multiple accelerated cultural and social changes have been attributed to social media, from mobilizing social movements to problematizing or normalizing terms and concepts. Digital platforms are considered a vital element in the ecosystem for realizing change in societies, yet the focus is often on overtly sociopolitical content and the issue-driven or identity-driven networked society content. However, and despise the ubiquitous nature of digital media, the accumulative impact of mundane casual interaction has rarely been scrutinized beyond its ability to support rapport building. This research explores the influence of the mundane content in communities’ cultural repertoire. It positions it in the schema of narrative (re)building and meaning (re)making tools, processes that contribute to making lasting impactful change in society. The research especially highlights how the mundane content serves to aid the cultural evolvement of marginalized communities annihilated from the public sphere. Utilizing Paolo Freire’s critical consciousness, Andrea Brock’s work on Black cyberculture, and Zizi Papacharissi’s affective public thesis, this research explores how cultural and digital practices of the (stateless) Bidoon community in Kuwait intertwine in their everyday usage of Twitter. Through digital ethnography that involved discourse analysis of tweets and in-depth interviews with eight participants from the Bidoon community, this research exhibits how mundane Twitter usage has allowed the Bidoon community to reinterpret and recontextualize their cause through weaving their interpersonal grievances into a collective narrative, and how regaining power over their story and using the platform to spread their voice empowered a sense of agency to not only imagine a new world but also find creative ways to realize it. Mundane Twitter has allowed Bidoons to create counternarratives, penetrate the public sphere, control the advocacy rhetoric, and regain power over cultural symbols and thus their relationship with their collective memory. Through highlighting how what appears to be inefficient mundane tweets actually intertwine cultural with digital practices and motivate critical dialogue and reflective processes, this research identifies the importance of raising critical consciousness as an affordance of mundane Twitter, and it encourages extending the scoop of what is considered critical action to be inclusive of the accumulative digital efforts of communities suffering from cultural erasure. / Media & Communication

A pesquisa articula os campos dos estudos em docência, estudos culturais e pós-estruturalismo, e de modo específico, a docência, a cultura e a linguagem como ferramentas conceituais para sustentar essa pesquisa documental. A partir dos movimentos de análise foi possível mapear três unidades de sentido que vinculam a formação cultural a: a) emancipação dos sujeitos; b) melhoria das práticas pedagógicas; c) produção ética-poética da vida. Por um viés, a pesquisa assinalou a recorrência dos sentidos que atribuem fragilidade à formação cultural docente, significando-a como sendo sempre precária. Em termos de profissionalidade docente, a ideia de carência cultural acaba por sustentar a existência de uma formação limitada. Por outro viés, a formação cultural é abordada como possibilitadora de uma ética-póetica da vida em si, produzindo como efeito uma educação voltada para a transformação de si, pois ao inverterem o olhar para si mesmos, os sujeitos mudam suas percepções a partir da formação e repensam seus modos de serem docentes. Nesse sentido, a análise dos sentidos construídos e o seu questionamento permite continuar pensando a formação cultural e a profissionalidade docente. / This dissertation investigates and analyzes the senses about the cultural formation of undergraduate students and future teachers conveyed and produced in academic research performed between the years 2000 and 2017, as well as what it is possible that these senses produce in terms of professional teaching. The research articulates the fields of studies in teaching, cultural studies and poststructuralism, and in a specific way, teaching, culture and language as conceptual tools to sustain this documentary research. From the analysis movements it was possible to map three units of meaning that link the cultural formation to: a) emancipation of the subjects; b) improvement of pedagogical practices; c) ethical-poetic production of life. By a bias, the research pointed out the recurrence of the senses that attribute fragility to the cultural formation of the teacher, meaning it to be always precarious. In terms of teaching professionalism, the idea of cultural lack ends up supporting the existence of a limited formation. On the other hand, cultural formation is approached as an enabler of a life-ethics of life itself, producing as effect an education aimed at self-transformation, because by inverting the gaze to themselves, subjects change their perceptions from and rethink their ways of being teachers. In this sense, the analysis of the constructed senses and their questioning allows to continue thinking about the cultural formation and the professionalism of the teacher.

[pt] A dissertação Guardiãs da cura: o saber das benzedeiras do Vale do Paraíba do Sul Fluminense possui como objetivo central desenvolver argumentos analíticos acerca das práticas e tradições orais de benzedeiras da região do Vale do Paraíba do Sul Fluminense, tendo seu lócus na cidade de Valença, estado do Rio de Janeiro. O trabalho propõe, em um primeiro momento, elaborar uma breve análise da historiografia oficial da região, marcada pela produção cafeeira do período colonial, examinando a hipótese de uma identidade tradicional valenciana, de um passado glorioso. A partir da reflexão e problematização deste passado identitário, elabora-se, em um segundo momento, um percurso por narrativas outras, aquelas apoiadas sobre as tradições de cura e articulações de forças no território do Quilombo São José da Serra, localizado na Serra da Beleza, no distrito de Valença. A pesquisa segue a partir dos registros de experiências individuais e de notas produzidas em estudos de campo junto às benzedeiras da região. Como referencial teórico, a dissertação mobiliza trabalhos de diferentes áreas de conhecimento, como, dentre outros, o uso que faz do conceito expandido de performance, cuja análise auxilia a definir um ponto central neste trabalho: a identificação de formas de resistência e (re)existência de práticas simbólicas tradicionais através de tecnologias orais. Em síntese, o presente estudo consiste no reconhecimento desse conjunto de saberes do benzimento da região como uma costura a contrapelo, que evidencia abismos sociais e culturais através dos encantamentos pela palavra e como estratégia de manutenção da vida. / [en] The dissertation Guardians of the cure: the knowledge of the healers of Vale do Paraíba do Sul Fluminense has as main objective to reflect on the oral practices and traditions of healers in the region of Vale do Paraíba do Sul Fluminense, having its locus in the city of Valença, RJ. First, a brief history of the region is proposed. Marked by coffee production during the imperial period, the present work raises the analysis of whatwould be a traditional Valencian identity; of a glorious; past. Then, the focus passes to the narratives about healing traditions and articulations of forces in the Quilombo São José da Serra territory, also located in the region. With the expanded concept of performance as a theoretical tool, the analysis reaches its main point: the wisdoms that resist and re-exist through oral technology. In retrieving individual experiences and notes taken in field studies, results of research in different areas of knowledge are combined. In summary, the present study consists in the recognition of this set of knowledge of the healers of the region as a seam against the current, which shows social and cultural gaps through the enchantments by the word and as a strategy for maintaining life.
