Měření ziskovosti korporátních zákazníků v bankovnictví / Measurement of customers´ profitability in corporate banking

Vacek, Petr January 2011 (has links)
The dissertation thesis aims to establish a complex theoretical basis for a measurement of customer's profitability which can be easily used in the practice. The main reason for that is the absence of such publication in the current academic sphere. A combination of management accounting and knowledge of banking enables to achieve the aim. The thesis itself is closely linked to the banking practice. There are derived customer's profitability indicators as modifications of the popular RAROC in which a customer margin is used instead of net profit. There is designed a simplified way of operational cost allocation. Questionnaires and interviews with senior representatives of seven Czech banks helped to identify the most significant labor-intensity factors of corporate customers. The description of principal features of risk costs and derivation of formulas for profitability variances are also the part of the thesis. The theoretical part is followed by the practical one where a contemporary banking practice of corporate customer's profitability measurement on the Czech market is explored. It identified three weak points -- cost allocation, profitability variances and one-year horizon of a calculation. At the end, the theoretical basis is applied on an existing customer portfolio and the result is compared with a currently used customer's profitability measurement.

Lundström, Carl-David, Wall, Emma January 2016 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate Swedish and American business appraisers’ attitude towards customer capital and its valuation models. This thesis also aims to find consequences that an explicit accounting of customer capital would have on business valuations.  Previous Research: Central models in this study are Customer Lifetime Value, Customer Equity, Customer Profitability and Multi-Period Excess Earnings Method. Previous research is found in Edvinsson and Malone (1997), Gupta et al., (2004), Villanueva and Hanssens (2007), Wiesel et al., (2006) and Hofstedes research regarding cultural dimensions. Method: This study uses a triangulation of methods. The main primary data is generated through internet-based questionnaires which was sent to Swedish and American business appraisers. Furthermore, three semi-structured interviews are conducted with representatives from KPMG, Deloitte and UC. A chi-Squared test is made to see if there is any relationship between nationality and business appraisers’ attitude towards taking heed of the customer capital. Conclusion:  72 per cent of the participated business appraisers and all interviewees think that it is important to value customer capital. Despite this, there are only 38 per cent of the survey respondents who say that they account for customer capital when valuing customer-based companies. A comparison between the nationalities show that Swedish business appraisers are more positive towards the “new” customer valuation models such as Customer Equity and Customer Profitability. They are also more inclined to use these. American business appraisers tend to use the more traditional Multi-Period Excess Earnings Method.

Unknown Date (has links)
With the development of related management technology, it’s easier for business to measure the customer profitability now. Liu, Chun-Ju Unknown Date (has links)
Non-financial measures have been widely advocated and adopted, such as quality, customer satisfaction, defective rate, and on-time delivery rate. However, empirical research has little focus on customer lifetime. This study explores (1) the relationship between customer lifetime and customer profitability; (2) the determinants of customer lifetime; (3) the impact of multi-channel shopping on customer profitability and customer lifetime. Using 64,632 customers level data (30 months) from a large TV Shopping company, this study finds: (1) the relationship between customer lifetime and customer profitability is positive; (2) customer transaction amount is positively related to customer lifetime duration; average interpurchase time, private brand, and durable goods are negatively related to customer lifetime duration; the relationship between customer’s return frequency and customer lifetime is U shape; (3) the customer lifetime duration of TV channel customers is shorter than that of other channel customers, but the customer profitability of TV channel customers is larger than that of other channel customers; (4) the customer lifetime duration of multi-channel customers is longer than that of single channel shoppers, but the customer profitability of multi-channel customers is less than that of single channel customers.

Contabilidad y marketing: buscando un denominador común / Accounting and marketing: searching a common denominator

Murphy, David S. 10 April 2018 (has links)
Accounting and marketing are very different disciplines. The analysis of customer profitability is one concept that can unite accounting and marketing as a common denominator. In this article I search for common ground between accounting and marketing in the analysis of customer profitability to determine if a common denominator really exists between the two. This analysis focuses on accounting profitability, customer lifetime value, and customer equity. The article ends with a summary of what accountants can do to move the analysis of customer value forward, as an analytical tool, within companies.

Using Multiple Linear Regression to Estimate Customer Profitability in Consumer Credits / Använda Multipel Linjär Regression för att Estimera Kundlönsamhet i Konsumentkrediter

Almgren, Andreas January 2021 (has links)
In cooperation with a consumer credit company based in Stockholm, this bachelor thesis investigates if the customer profitability in the consumer credit market can be predicted with multiple linear regression. Data collected before the initial credit was accepted and data connected to the account activity of the customers' first nine months are analyzed. Further, it is examined if the findings could be useful in a profitability analysis and as a reduction of adverse selection. The findings show that a number of covariates express promising correlations with the costumer profitability. However, the prediction error is high and not efficient in individual cases. Further, some reduction in adverse selection, due to a decrease in asymmetric information between the customers and the company, can be identified, but further research is encouraged. Finally, potential improvements are discussed, especially concerning the choice of regression algorithm.
