Brott och straff i lättläst adaption : En komparativ analys av Fjodor Dostojevskijs Brott och straff och romanen i lättläst bearbetning / Crime and punishment in easy-to-read adaptation : A comparative analysis of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and punishment and the novel in easy-to-read adaptation

Wahlström, Fredrik January 2021 (has links)
In the current landscape of Sweden, easy-to-read literature demand is surging. But the opinions of its shape and form are being questioned: is this type of literature in reality easier to understand, or is the removed content in fact making it less comprehensive? The study’s purpose is to analyze easy-to-read literature’s ability to manage complex motives, and if it changes the reading experience from the original. To attempt that, the study uses a comparative analysis of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and punishment and its easy-to-read adaptation, written by Johan Werkmäster. To understand how Werkmäster’s adaptation manages complex motives, the comparative analysis uses three motives from Professor George Strem, who argues that Crime and punishment is built on suffering, humility and the ideal of the Superman. To answer whether the easy-to-read version changes the reading experience or not, the study uses Professor Rita Felski’s terminology of chock and Anna Nordenstam and Christina Olin-Scheller’s identification.   The analysis shows that the easy-to-read version of Crime and punishment maintains the main story but excludes the ideal of the Superman, which alters the understanding of suffering and humility. As a consequence this also means Felski’s chock is replaced by Nordenstam and Olin-Scheller’s identification, showing that the reading experience is indeed changed.    The conclusion is that the changes in the adaptation cause problems regarding the reader’s ability to understand Raskolnikov. The result also leads to question what the most important factor is when reading easy-to-read literature. Whereas the authors and publishers argue that literacy and motivation is essential to the target audience, Felski and Nordenstam and Olin-Scheller claim that the reading experience is more important. This shows the need of more science in this area to create a consensus of what easy-to-read literature should be, and how it best helps the readers develop their reading ability.

Vliv Dostojevského myšlení na teologii smrti Boha / Dostoevsky's Influence on the Death of God Theology

Kuthan, Robert January 2021 (has links)
This dissertation deals with Dostoevsky's influence on Death of God theology. This is a comparative study that clarifies this influence against the background of how Dostoevsky's work was read and interpreted by some representatives of Dialectical theology. This study follows those themes of Dostoevsky's work which both theologies focus on and analyzes how they are interpreted within each theology. Both receptions of Dostoevsky are then compared not only against one another, but also against the original context of Dostoevsky's work. KEY WORDS: Dostoevsky, death of God, Death of God theology, Radical theology, Dialectical theology, Neo-orthodoxy, Altizer, Barth, Thurneysen, Hromádka

Santerre, Ariane 08 1900 (has links)
This work explores duality as it is portrayed in two books by André Gide, Les Caves du Vatican (translated as Lafcadio’s Adventures and The Vatican Cellars) and Les Faux-Monnayeurs (The Counterfeiters). The concept of the double is a major literary theme which sheds light on the various tensions lashing against each other within individuals. Often depicted in physical form in 19th century literature following the use of the Doppelgänger figure, the double found in Gide’s writings is more complex: subtler, it remains psychological but is not visible. There are two major ways in which duality appears in Gide’s books: through the characters, and through the narrative. Studying the characters’ contradictions and inconsistencies, the representation of duality in various characters, their ability to become another character’s double, and their double discourses enables us to establish the extent to which the characters structure duality. An analysis of the narrators’ identities, of their interventions, and of the rhetorical figures they use also shows that the more they reveal themselves, the more complex they become.

Dostoiévski e a dialética: fetichismo da forma, utopia como conteúdo / Dostoevsky and dialectics: fetishism of form, utopia ascontent

Vassoler, Flávio Ricardo 11 December 2015 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation is to analyse and interpret the historical, aesthetic, political and literary meaning of the dialectical tensions exposed in the work of the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. On the first part (thesis), Dostoevsky and the Fetishism of Commodity Form, the analysis of Dostoevskys work takes us to both tensions and elective affinities which intertwine two perspectives: polyphony, as it is proposed by the Russian critic Mikhail Bakhtin (1895-1975), in Problems of Dostoevskys Poetics (1929/1963), and materialist dialectics, mainly from the Aesthetic Theory (1968), by the German author Theodor Adorno (1903-1969). The aim is to totalize the polyphonic concerts aporias, so that the analysis dialectically unveils the immanent mimesis of commodity form as the historical and tautological meaning of Dostoevskys form, mainly from Notes from Underground (1864). On the second part (antithesis), Dostoevskys Content as the Healing of the Spirit towards Utopia?, we try to structure the philosophy of history which is established through the authors work. Dostoevskys dialogues which intertwine socialism and Christianity make us correlate the discussions which are established in Memoirs from the House of the Dead (1862), Winter Notes on Summer Impressions (1863), Notes from Underground (1864), Crime and Punishment (1866), The Idiot (1869), The Devils (1872) and, essentially, in two chapters of The Brothers Karamazov (1879): The Revolt and The Grand Inquisitor. Finally and as a harbinger of an overcoming (Aufhebung) Dostoevskys content of history as a dialectical movement towards utopia makes us put into dialogue the short story The dream of a ridiculous man (1877) with the concept of healing of the spirit, which the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) develops in his Philosophy of History (1837).
