Study of Channel Estimation in MIMO-OFDM for Software Defined Radio

Wang, Qi January 2007 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to find out the most suitable channel estimation algorithms for the existing MIMO-OFDM SDR platform. Starting with the analysis of several prevalent channel estimation algorithms, MSE performance are compared under different scenarios. As a result of the hardware independent analysis, the complexvalued matrix computations involved in the algorithms are decomposed to real FLoating-point OPerations (FLOPs). Four feasible algorithms are selected for hardware dependent discussion based on the proposed hardware architecture. The computational latency is exposed as a manner of case study.

Development and Implementation of a Low Power Wireless Sensor Network

Bengtsson, Niclas January 2007 (has links)
The wish to measure different environmental parameters, in for example office buildings, is getting more and more important in today’s society. Since the sensors should be easily deployed they need to be battery powered and communicate wireless. Furthermore the radio range must be extended because of the limited range on the free frequencies. This is where wireless sensor networks come in and extend the range by relaying the data through other nodes in the network, thereby extending the total range of the network. The purpose of this thesis work is to develop a protocol for such a wireless sensor network, capable of delivering and relaying sensor data through the nodes of the network. The protocol has been implemented in hardware also designed in this thesis. Tests of the network have been performed and the results have shown that the network works very well and fulfills all of the requirements. Furthermore the power consumption is only 15% of the required value. This thesis has produced a very good platform to use as a base for further development of a commercial product.

Utveckling och konstruktion av analysatorverktyg för styrsignaler i HDMI-gränssnittet

Kaltea, Eddie, Lundgren, Daniel January 2009 (has links)

Automated Network Node Discovery and Topology Analysis

Sigholm, Johan January 2007 (has links)
This Master's Thesis describes the design and development of an architecture for automated network node discovery and topology analysis, implemented as an extension to the network management and provisioning system NETadmin. The architecture includes functionality for flexible network model assessment, using a method for versatile comparison between off-line database models and real-world models. These models are populated by current node data collected by network sensors. The presented architecture supports (1) efficient creation and synchronization of network topology information (2) accurate recognition of new, replaced and upgraded nodes, including rogue nodes that may exhibit malicious behavior, and (3) provides an extension of an existing vendor-neutral enterprise network management and provisioning system. An evaluation of the implementation shows evidence of accurate discovery and classification of unmatched hosts in a live customer production network with over 400 nodes, and presents data on performance and scalability levels. The work was carried out at Netadmin System i Sverige AB, in Linköping, Sweden.

Creating a test system for a new era of radios

Toresson, Albin January 2008 (has links)
As communication becomes more and more vital in defending a country’s borders, better radios are needed. When the Swedish armed forces saw that their existing radios took too much bandwidth in their net, they knew that something had to be done. The existing radio, called Ra 180 RAP, was modified so that it could send X.25 messages into a network. This significantly reduced the use of bandwidth, as a packet switched network only uses the bandwidth when sending info. This final thesis has been aimed to create a system that can test the X.25 function in the upgraded, so called CI-RAP, radio. This system will come in handy both when upgrading and later when performing service on the radios.

Provkonstruktion för nätet : Validerat med Bloom´s reviderade taxonomi

Moritz, Monica January 2007 (has links)

Kind, Gisela, Svennberg, Louise January 2009 (has links)
In this report we compare the two programming languages PHP and C# in .Net. They are both used to create dynamic websites and on the web there's a debate going on about which of these languages you're recommended to use. With this report we want to make ourselves a more scientific base of which of these languages that is the most used language and which languages that are the most suitable for creating dynamic websites. We have two purposes with this report: 1. To compare the usage of the programming languages C# in .Net and PHP at web agencies, advertising agencies and combinded agencies in Sweden today. 2. To get a better insight in the languages partly theoretical and partly through making a practical comparison of how you program in those languages. We have chosen to use four methods to reach our purposes; interviews, survey, lite-rature study and practical work. To among else find out which of PHP and C# in .Net that are the most common language, at web agencies, advertising agencies and combined agencies in Sweden today, we created a survey which we sent out to 100 companies in five counties. The interviews were done before the survey was designed since they were the foundation for the questions in the survey. All theoretical background is built on our literature study but we also got a little help from our literature study during our practical work. During our practical work we created two similar websites, one in each language to practically to be able to compare how the both codes are written and to make ourselves an opinion about how it feels to program in the both languages. From the survey we found out that PHP is the most common language at the different types of agencies that we studied. We also found out that the companies who answered the survey believes that PHP still will be the most common language in Sweden in year 2015 of the two studied languages PHP and C# in .Net. The survey also showed that good qualities in PHP are among others the simplicity, open source and platform independent. Worse qualities in PHP are that it lacks in troubleshooting, has low performance and too many versions. We think that PHP overall is the easier language to program in, in comparison with C# in .Net since the way you write the code in PHP feels more understandable and logical. Many of the advantages and disadvantages we experienced consists with the agencies opinions regarding PHP, but also with the opinions regarding C# in .Net since it's fast, compiled and a well structured language. Worse qualities in C# in .Net we experienced are that it's own by Microsoft, less spread and has complicated code. The conclusions of this study is that PHP is the most used programming language at the web agencies, advertising agencies and the combined agencies that this study included, that the both programming languages differ from eachother more than we predicted both theoretical and programmatically and PHP is better suited for less com-plicated programming while C# in .Net is more suited for advanced programming.

Modeling and algorithm adaptation for a novel parallel DSP processor / Modellering och algorithm-anpassning för en ny parallell DSP-processor

Kraigher, Olof, Olsson, Johan January 2009 (has links)
The P3RMA (Programmable, Parallel, and Predictable Random Memory Access) processor, currently being developed at Linköping University Sweden, is an attempt to solve the problems of parallel computing by utilizing a parallel memory subsystem and splitting the complexity of address computations with the complexity of data computations. It is targeted at embedded low power low cost computing for mobile phones, handsets and basestations among many others. By studying the radix-2 FFT using the P3RMA concept we have shown that even algorithms with a complex addressing pattern can be adapted to fully utilize a parallel datapath while only requiring additional simple addressing hardware. By supporting this algorithm with a SIMT instruction almost 100% utilization of the datapath can be achieved. A simulator framework for this processor has been proposed and implemented. This simulator has a very flexible structure featuring modular addition of new instructions and configurable hardware parameters. The simulator might be used by hardware developers and firmware developers in the future.

Liten displaymodul

Jonsson, Michael January 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this Master Thesis is to analyze what suitable hardware platforms there are on the market in order to build a low price control and information system for mobile applications, called small display module. The thesis will be underlying material for making a decision for further development. The result of the thesis consists mainly of a Windows CE kernel and a schematic for a CPU card, on which it would be suitable to build the display module. Another major part of the report is the introduction of different techniques that could be of interest when designing a processor based system. The processor architecture that was chosen is the x86. This is mainly due to CPU availability, but as well as the fact that existing software can be used on the display module without any significant modifications. Many interesting processors were sorted out because they hade a very high price on the development kits from the manufacturer and because the possible production volume can not manage this cost. The development kit makes the development easier and can be used for performance tests before prototypes are built.

Technical upgrade of an audio-mixer control

Jacobsson, Trond January 2006 (has links)
Today the Sjöbjörn studio has a mixing console controlled by a PC with outdated software and hardware technology. The hardware requires an ISA-bus to work at all and thereby limits the upgrades that can be made to the computer. The software runs in a DOS environment and has not been updated for a long time as well. This makes working with the mixing console more difficult then it has to be and new features are hard to implement. In this thesis I have developed new hardware so that a more powerful computer can be used which hopefully will allow for a more user friendly interface and make it easier for future upgrades and additions. The thesis presents a solution on how to upgrade the system all the way from the PCcommunication to the hardware designs. The project was based around the Microchip PIC18F4550 microcontroller for the hardware and the Visual Basic.NET programming language for the PC software.
