Ženy jako oběti domácího násilí v krizové intervenci / Women as victims of home force in crisis intervention

Morávková, Pavla January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of women as victims of home violence in crisis intervention. The aim of the theoretical part is to point out basic characteristics typical for an abused woman, with the support of professional literature and further on to be used as the basis for empirical investigations. The theoretical part further aims to show the specifics of social pedagogical work with the victims of home violence by presenting an example from good practice. The empirical part is elaborated in the form of a collective case study, individual cases are described in a casuistic form. The practical part follows three main lines. First aim is to find out whether an image of a woman as a victim of home violence presented in professional literature corresponds with the knowledge from the practice of The Crisis Center in Chrudim. The second examines to what extent it is possible to implement the recommendation from experts in providing crisis intervention to women at risk. The third aim is to answer the question whether it is possible to use the education of victims as an effective tool in social pedagogical work. These aims of the practical part relate to the answering of one main and three partial research questions. The main research question: Does the typical image of an abused woman...

Svensson, Gustav, Jerner, August January 2015 (has links)
This study highlights the stereotypical depictions of journalists in film using a narrative analysis of four major Hollywood productions, starting with All the President’s Men from 1976 through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2011. Its purpose is to highlight traits given to journalists in the movies and re-occuring themes in the portrayal of the media and the journalistic occupation. Differences and commonalities between the films are concluded in a discussion of ethics, personalities and the media’s self image. The paper can be seen as a contribution to the paradigm in which journalism in the movies is perceived at the moment. It offers a wide explanation to how the image of the journalist is conveyed to the public, an image that differs from how real life journalists go about in daily work life. This is essential, since most people never get to experience journalistic work in reality – but solely from popular culture – which distorts the perception of the media as the fourth estate.

Conceptual expression and depictive opacity: Changing attitudes towards architectural drawings between 1960 and 1990

Kim, Hoyoung 07 January 2016 (has links)
This dissertation is a study of a remarkable change that came about in the kind of drawings that architects used to present their work between the decades of 1960 and 1990. Drawings in this period, visually rich and compositionally complex, seemed to mark an entirely new sensibility towards their function; their goal seemed to be not so much to clearly depict the forms of a proposed building, but to instead focus on its conceptual aspects. In fact, in several cases, drawings seemed to be treated as graphic projects in their own right, over and above the work they presented. This trend was accompanied by two other developments. Around the same time, there was a sudden increase in theoretical interest in drawings within the architectural community leading to a flurry of published articles, essays and books on the topic. And all this happened to coincide with the time that the Postmodern movement came to dominate architecture. The study aims to understand the relationship between these trends, and to develop a better understanding of the reasons for these changes to have occurred. It does so by, first, developing a theoretical framework to help understand the nature and impact of the changes in drawings. Next, it presents a detailed historical account of these changes. This is followed by an in-depth study of a single architect, James Stirling, to show how the new types of drawings were not simply a means to present ideas, but played a formative role in design as well. Apart from developing a contextualized historical account of an important development in contemporary architectural history, the study also finds that the change in the drawing practice and the theoretical interests were not simply an outcome of Postmodern cultural theory of the period, but were instigated by concerns that arose from within architecture itself. It thus offers a useful case-study on how changes in disciplinary practice are brought about.

The depiction of Homelessness in K. Sello Duiker's Thirteen Cents and Phaswane MPE's Welcome to Our Hillbrow

Mahori, Freddy 18 May 2018 (has links)
MA (English) / Department of English / In this study, I explore the depiction of homelessness in K. Sello Duiker’s Thirteen Cents (2000) and Phaswane Mpe’s Welcome to Our Hillbrow (2001). Against the background of post-colonial and transcultural theories, I explore the effects of homelessness on select characters depicted in the two novels, particularly how homelessness and its effects impact on the characters’ identity and human dignity, as some of the themes which the two authors deal with. I achieve this through a close analysis of themes, characterisation and style as well as a demonstration of how the metaphor of the plight of the homeless is drawn from the experiences of the homeless characters portrayed in the novels. I establish, through this study, that the two novels depict characters on whose identity and human dignity, colonialism had an adverse impact. I argue that the corroded dignity and identity of the select homeless characters can be restored through the application of the tenets of transcultural theory. I consistently identify the central morals of the two novels under study as highlighting the need for society to address the plight central to the two novels’ major themes of homelessness, poverty, identity and human dignity against the backdrop of postcoloniality and transculturalism.

Vem säger de att jag är? : Om kristusbilder i herdabrev från 2000-talet

Pettersson, Magdalena January 2020 (has links)
Purpose: In this essay a limited and specific selection of Swedish pastoral letters, has been used in order to describe and analyze various depictions (images) of Christ. Furthermore, the similarities as well as the differences between the depictions, will be noted. The theoretical perspective used in the analysis is one of high versus low Christology i.e. whether the emphasis is focused on Christ as divine, or Christ as human, and the possible tension between the two. Also, the ontological and functional aspect of the images will be elucidated. Method: The used method is hermeneutic. The analysis is text oriented and initially a descriptive analysis is used to describe the various depictions. References will be made to Jesus – God and Man, by Prof. Wolfhart Pannenberg, and the article “Christology” by Prof. Ola Sigurdson. In the analysis that follows a comparative method will be used to form a normative analysis with constructive summaries of each depiction of Christ.   Results and conclusions: The result of this study shows that a various number of depictions of Christ is to be found within the selected pastoral letters. In some the image of Christ is described in a substantial and obvious way, like the Compass or a Fellow human being. In contrast, there are depictions of Jesus as the Brother and the Guide. In others a symbolic image is to be found, like the Star, the Sign or Logos. There are also more traditional dogmatic depictions as the Savior. In all of them an ontological and a functional aspect can be found. The depictions of Christ also have in common that the emphasis is mainly on the humanity of Christ. In many of them a tension between the divinity and the humanity of Christ is obvious. The images are mediating openness and diversity, showing Jesus Christ as an inspiration, a beacon and someone to follow. They are all providing answers to the question of the title of this essay: Who do they say I am?

Masuku, Norma 06 1900 (has links)
Chapter 1 is the introductory chapter which gives the aim of study, delimitation, scope and methodology. It further presents critical studies that have been done on Feminism. Chapter 2 is devoted to the Feminist theory, the origin of the term stereotype and the diverse schools of thought within the Feminist camp. Feminism from the African perspective, known as Womanism, has been deliberated on. Chapter 3 concentrates mainly on two women authors, Damane and Makhambeni. This chapter looks at how these authors have depicted their female characters. It also examines the stereotypes employed by these female authors. Chapter 4 is devoted to the writing of male authors. This chapter also concentrates on the stereotypes employed by them in their analysis of their female characters. Chapter 5, concludes the study and summarizes the main findings of this review. / African Languages / M.A. (African Languages)

Maier, Georg 17 May 2005 (has links)
In the Berlin Centre for Craniofacial Malformations at the Clinic for Oromaxillofacial Surgery of the Charité, Campus Virchow- Clinic in Berlin, a mobile CT Scanner Philips Tomoscan M is integrated into the process of extraoral bone anchor implantation for prosthesis fixture. With implementation of the scanner, accuracy of localisation and dimensional accuracy of bony structures and implants have been questioned. A bone phantom is used for measuring distances between holes, hole diameters and dimensions of an implant fixture, an abutment and a magnet with measuring tools of the scanner under variation of scan parameters. Localisation accuracy of holes and implants is found in >99% within ±0.2mm. Window settings have little influence on hole distances. Diameters show linear growth at standardized scaling and correlation with window level augmentation (r2=.776). Little Variation of diameters is found with variation of window width. All Implants are magnified. Implant dimensions diminish with window level augmentation at standardized scaling. Variability of dimension decreases with more radio opaque implant material. Implant contact with tissues cannot be assessed in CT scans.

Lonely Together : An Analysis Of Loneliness, Alienation, And Fellowship In Ajvide Lindqvists Novels: Rörelsen And Verkligheten.

Jörgensen, Eloise January 2024 (has links)
