Teacher learning community, professional development for teachers in embedding formative assessment

Högdahl, Pi January 2015 (has links)
Research shows that schools are largely a professional solo cultures (Blossing 2014), which impede teachers' professional development as learning takes place in social interaction and through living-practice dilemmas (Wenger 1998/2004). Changing cultures is difficult, not least in the world of education that on the whole has been a solo culture since the establishment of convent schools. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether teachers believe that through professional collaboration in the form of Teacher Learning Community (TLC) has contributed their knowledge and compentence in the field of embedding formative assessment. TLC is a sort of community of practice for improve teaching. The study works according to the hypothesis that “Teachers believe that professional collaboration in the form of Teacher Learning Community (TLC) has contributed to their knowledge and expertise in the field of embedding formative assessment”. The study was conducted at a large secondary school in central Sweden which organized its collegial learning according to TLC and exclusively worked to develop and modify instruction regarding embedding formative assessment during five years before the study. The theoretical approach applied is based on the tradition of "school improvement" with a human relational and group dynamic organizational based on social-constructivism) (Schein, 1994; Giddens, 1984; Wenger 1998/2004; Schmuck & Runkel, 1994; Blossing 2008; Scherp 1998). The study is quantitative and was conducted using a questionnaire, processed through a factor analysis, that is, a multivariate analysis. The analysis was conducted in four stages: stage 1: factor analysis to reduce factors exceeding the value of 1; step 2: categorization of all questions related to the component; step 3: measurement of the homogeneity of issues with Cronbach's Alpha; step 4: hypothesis testing in Person. The correlation was 0,686 (p<0,001). This is a so called census survey and the high response rate gave the study high validity. The study concluded that it is possible to change a school's historic solo culture to a collaborative team culture through systematic collegial cooperation in the form of TLC, and as a result to change the current teaching patterns.

To pursue the competitiveness, many companies end up adopting similar strategies based on the most common and disseminated practices in their respective business. Beyond the financial resources, the companies also invest time and efforts in order to achieve similar performances of the most competitive ones which they deem to be "benchmarking", i.e. the reference in your business. However, simply adopting the best practices of those reference companies will not allow become a leader in their businesses, since it would require other ingredients, other strategies that make the difference. When it focuses on the product itself, specifically in the case of this study about the automotive industry, which is a very competitive segment in the world, it is necessary much more sophisticated strategies or even non-existent yet. Mentioned by several leaders and executives of multinational companies as an efficient methodology, the Design for Six Sigma, or simply DFSS, enables to understand their markets, their customers, respective necessities and yearnings, in a deep way and their deployments as well. By the flexibility of using DFSS methodology, it becomes possible to develop proposals and solutions to one of the most important differentials in this competitive market, the innovation. Due to the subjectivity around some aspects of the concept of that differential, it is proposed to adopt the fuzzy logic, to work on the most important linguistic variables and, combined with the Taguchi’s signal to noise relation, quantitatively measure the degree of innovation inherent in the products. By this modeling, validated through the analysis of several vehicular systems that have evolved throughout the automobile history, it becomes possible to compare current products with new ideas and proposals from the point of view of innovation, thus providing useful inputs to the decision-making process

Auto test de convertisseurs de signal de type pipeline / Pipeline ADC Built-In Self Test

Renaud, Guillaume 29 November 2016 (has links)
This PhD thesis is aimed at exploring new Built-In-Self-Test (BIST) techniques for static linearity characterization of pipeline ADCs. During the production phase, the static and dynamic performances of the ADCs are tested. Static linearity test techniques are one of the more expensive test procedures that are performed at production line. The measurement of the static linearity performance requires the application of a low frequency high linearity stimulus and the collection of a high volume of output samples for noise averaging, usually using a histogram-based test setup. Thus, as the resolution of state-of-the-art ADCs increases, test time for static linearity characterization increases exponentially. For this reason, the reduction of the ADC test time is a hot topic that has gained an increasing interest over the past years. New techniques have recently been proposed to effectively reduce test time, but no BIST technique has yet been developed that considers a high resolution signal generator in combination with an on-chip analysis technique that dramatically reduces the amount of data. In this thesis, static linearity BIST techniques will be investigated for pipeline ADCs. In particular, this thesis presents a novel high-linearity on-chip test stimulus generator and a modified servo-loop technique that, in combination with reduced-code linearity test algorithms, lead to the definition of an efficient and accurate BIST strategy for pipeline ADCs. The work includes the experimental validation of the proposed techniques in collaboration with STMicroelectronics, Grenoble.

Buss, Amanda Sória January 2013 (has links)
The packaging reverse logistics (PRL) and the territorial design (TD) are approaches with different emphases, but that have characteristics that complement each other. The packaging, for example, appears as a strategy with the potential for territory communication and environmental sustainability - assumptions of TD - through reverse logistics. The main of this work is to propose guidelines and practices for integration between the two approaches, PRL and TD. A process of organic production was used as the analysis unit. The method adopted was the action research, containing activities such as: (i) systematic literature review to identify and analyze concepts, guidelines, objectives and actions that allow integration between the PRL and TD; (ii) identification of opportunities for PRL in the context of TD, from a process mapping and suggestion of tools such as blueprint, Service Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) SWOT matrix; and (iii) testing the integration guidelines proposed in a packaging project. The main results of the work are: presenting a set of guidelines for PRL in TD projects; a diagnosis of a opportunity of PRL in a TD project; proposal of a tool to evaluate the level of integration between the two approaches and the degree of formality present in the planning and in the management of PRL, called Radar TD-PRL; redesign of the logistics system and packaging design, and implementation of the tool RADAR TD-PRL. It was found that the guidelines, objectives and integrated actions between PRL and TD guided satisfactorily the PRL system and the packaging design in the investigated case, showing improvements compared to its initial state. The featured guidelines are: protection and perpetuation of identity and heritage, economic development, reduced environmental impact, improving the company's image / business, and, to a lesser extent, infrastructure support system for PRL.

Robot Racking : A Racking Solution for Autonomous Production

Envall, Zakarias January 2018 (has links)
As an engineering student, the most natural way of summarizing this thesis project is by relating it to a mathematical equation. The solution to this equation is given, and it is in the form of a racking concept that enables the use of robots. The other side of the equation is however a bit more complex. This side contains several undefined variables, which can only be solved by delving into various theoretical fields and exploring unchartered depths of the creative space. The project’s main objective is to design a concept rack for Gestamp HardTech in Luleå, Sweden, for storage and in-house transport of the beams which are produced at the HardTech facility. The rack is meant to be loaded both into and out of by robots and should suit an as wide array of beams as possible. To determine the possibilities and limitations of the rack’s robot-user, several automation aspects are researched, centered on industrial robots and machine vision. The beams which are produced at the Gestamp HardTech Luleå production plant today are analyzed, whereby twelve of them are ultimately chosen for the rack’s design to be focused on. What follows this is a creative process consisting of a creative idea-generating phase, an evaluative phase focused on implementation of the ideas, and a refinement phase where the rack concept is finalized. The process includes various methods of idea generating, a great deal of sketching, physical testing of the concepts, and finally CAD-modeling. The result, named 4.0-Rack, is in the form of a modular rack-concept which balances the aspects of flexibility, by suiting ten of the reviewed beams, with a high packing-grade, providing a mean packing-grade of 83% in relation to the way the beams are currently packed.

Pereira Filho, José Ilo January 2011 (has links)
Since 1990s, the concept design for safety (DFS) has been diffused as way of to reduce the accidents in construction site with causes derived of the characteristics of design. The utilization of DFS in the construction industry awakes the interest of several researches, but yet is low and has a gap between the concept and the application. So, the target this work is to propose a protocol for integration of health and safety work requirements at product development process (PISP), as way of to help engineers and architects to develop safe designs for temporary users of building (workers of construction and maintenance). The research method involved the realization of three cases: a residential undertaking, an industrial and a clinical, was the analysis object. The integration of health and safety work requirements at product development process was analysis unit this work. The protocol has four stages: identification of hazards, assessment of risks, identification of requirements and assessment and register of learning. The application in the development of designs allow the collaborative work between the participants of product development process (PDP), been recommended for incorporation at concurrent engineering process or at integrated development product, however, is adaptive at some method of development of product adopted by designer . The study verified that the integration of health and safety requirements since the early stages of PDP is viable and more solid that when made in design or redesign stages, as suggest the traditional concept of DFS.

Sistematização de procedimentos do design para a sustentabilidade ambiental para aplicação no ensino de metodologia de projeto / Systematization of procedures for environmental design for application in the teaching of design methodology

Moraes, Laíse Miolo de January 2011 (has links)
Over the years, the contemporary world characterized by the development of technology, production of industrial goods and consumption. However, waste generation and disposal of the industrial system accompanied this progress, causing most of the socioenvironmental problems. Currently, the society lives under the concern with environmental issues, the discourse of sustainability and the search for more critical consumers. From this perspective, there is the activity of design as a major responsible for the maintenance of industrial development, environmental and social, for continued economic growth. However, this can only be achieved with the formation of a culture of designers aware of this issue, prepared to project forward the principles of sustainability. To this end, this paper aims to combine the concepts of Design for Sustainability at project methodologies, used in undergraduate courses in Design, from the integration of principles, guidelines and tools for more sustainable projects. Methodologically, this paper makes use of exploratory research, literature review and action research. Its application occurred in the discipline of design methodology undergraduate degree in Design from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, through theoretical and practical lessons, combined with the development of conceptual designs with the potential for sustainability. The expected results are in line with the effectiveness of the procedures of design for sustainability in design methods selected, and the implementation of this process in the teaching of Design Methodology.
