Dagdrömmar / Daydreams

Wennö, Lisa January 2013 (has links)
Daydreams is a wallpaper collection consisting of three images that combines the modern, mass-produced digital printing techniques with traditional, unique needlework. By applying embroidery – with its structure and fabric texture – to a digitally printed wallpaper material, a collection is created that lingers on the borders between art and design, luxury and modesty as well as dream and reality. / Program: Textildesignutbildningen

Paukščio akimis / From the bird‘s sight

Benevičiūtė, Donata 28 September 2010 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Bachelor of Arts work consists of the collection of five digital print pieces under the title “From the bird‘s sight”. This work is as if the therapeutic art for oneself in which multi-layer compositions, revealing the history of inner state, were created by the means of factures and the rhythmic of lines, with the help of Adobe Photoshop CS4 programme. The aim of the art therapy is to analyze your own works of art and to help yourself to develop as a personality. It is thought that the creator, willing to teach others how to create art, first of all has to know well himself. In the work described, similarities in different authors’ works have been looked for, while using theoretical analysis for creations to be justified. Since there are plenty of symbols in the collection “From the bird‘s sight”, the reference to creation of the symbolist M.K Ciurlionis and a famous surrealist and realist’s Frida Kahlo works was made. Frida was painting the details of her intimate life in the way, as if she applied the art therapy for herself. Digital print technique was chosen for completing the work, but before this, some investigation about Lithuanian artists, using this technique in their creation, was made. After analyzing the works by Lithuanian artists R. Dichavicius and K. Grigaliunas and while making all the compositions, it was referred to the plastic solutions of the compositions made by these artists. The whole collection of works was analyzed while applying the method of... [to full text]

Transmission : Changing atmospheres of a room through textile printing technique and fabric manipulation.

Asp, Kajsa January 2020 (has links)
This work places itself within the field of textile design and atmospheric design. The primary motive is to integrate and broaden the two fields by developing design proposals in textile design. The aim is to explore how to change the atmosphere of a space through the use of fabric manipulations, surface patterns, colours, light and shadow. The design method consisted of material explorations, light and shadow experiments, design of surface patterns, heat transfer print and pleating techniques. Colours were tested in combination with lights. The result is a collection of three textile dividers of space that by the impact of light change the current atmosphere in public spaces, and by doing so, the perception and mood are changed. The value of this work is to show design potentials for new expressional possibilities, a new approach to merge the fields of textile design and atmospheric design.

CORRELATIONS

Toy, Randy Scott 01 January 2006 (has links)
I explore visual and process-based systems to solidify the allusive nature of conceptual ideas. Impermanence, time and interdependence are reoccurring themes that stem from an interest in Eastern philosophy. Oscillating from representation to abstract minimalism, printmaking to sculpture, each element in a work is tailored to the concept. The minimalist appearance suggests simplicity, however elaborate planning and systematic execution are at the heart of my practice. Systems create great constraint, yet provide great freedom.

Stories to wear : A surface pattern collection that explores storytelling through a memory game as a method for a clothing context / Berättelser att bära

Ideäng, Hanna January 2023 (has links)
Stories to wear is a bachelor degree work in textile design. The position of the work is in digitally printed textile surface pattern for clothing where the surface pattern collection is designed for storytelling and playfulness. The project explores the synergistic effect in combining a method where randomness decides the outcome, textiles, patterns and the body.

The ancient object in its form and essence : between past and modernity, between familiarity and strangeness

Kim, Ju-Young 02 December 2017 (has links)
An ancient object that is no longer in use today continues however to survive in our contemporary life. It is presented to us with another function and often with another definition: it is no longer the useful object nor the practical tool that it used to be. In this dissertation, the value of the ancient object is studied in its immaterial and spiritual dimensions. We will thus renew its definition by reflecting on its essence and form from a contemporary viewpoint. The first part of the dissertation presents the concepts around the value of the ancient object in our time from a sociological angle. Next, we propose an approach to the concept of the ancient object as half-human and half-object. Since an ancient object from another era always keeps within itself its life in the period gone by, could this object exist as if it were an animated entity? In the second part, we have sought what characteristics could offer the ancient object this sensation of human life. Perhaps, first of all, the traces of people that it has accumulated visibly and invisibly? The Korean notion of “sonté” allows us to translate and express these visible and invisible traces on the ancient object. In the last part, the ancient object is studied in the field of contemporary art. Contemporary artists see the ancient object as a new object and give it another form and another essence which often is an allegory of human destiny.
