Vývoj hudební publicistiky od roku 1963 po současnost / The history of music journalism from the year 1963 until now

Diploma thesis The history of music journalism from the year 1963 until now examines the development of domestic music journalism from the year 1963 to the present in three crucial periods. The first period starts by the year 1963 because at this time the first professional music magazine Melodie in the Czechoslovak socialism republic developed. The second period that I study in my thesis was the 1990s, right after the Velvet Revolution, when many new music magazines were established, led by the magazine Rock & Pop. The third period I study in my thesis are the times after the year 2000 which are characterized by the development of online music journalism and by diminishing role of printed music magazines. In the theoretical part, I briefly describe every period by key historical characteristics and I also describe theirs dominant music magazines. In the last section, where I focus on the present time and the world of Internet, I focus also on the online music journalism as a new crucial field of the 21 century which fundamentally changed the work of music journalists. In the analytical part, I choose important music journalists for each period whose work is linked to the period, and with whom I conducted the interviews. Syfte: Problemet med hårdgjorda ytor, som exempelvis asfalt och tak, är att de inte absorberar dagvattnet tillräckligt. Vidare leder detta till att gräsytor och andra absorberande ytor runt omkring måste ta hand om det dagvatten som inte de hårdgjorda ytorna kan tillvarata. Översvämningar i urbana miljöer har blivit allt vanligare på grund av kraftiga regn och stor andel hårdgjorda ytor. Detta leder till att ledningsnätet för dagvatten blir överbelastat. Därmed behövs väl fungerande utjämningsmagasin nära källan för att efterlikna naturens naturliga avrinningsförlopp. Målet var att utreda vilken eller vilka utjämningsmagasin som främst bör tillämpas i starkt hårdgjorda små radhustomter, med avseende på effektivitet, kostnad och underhåll, då jordmånen har begränsade infiltrationsegenskaper. Metod: De metoder som har använts för att svara mot målet är dokumentanalys, kvalitativ intervju och fallstudie. Dokumentanalysen fungerade som underlag för fallstudien och intervjuerna fungerade som bidragande empiri för fallstudien. Resultat: Det utjämningsmagasin som är att föredra är rörmagasin när anläggningsytan är begränsad och jordmånen har begränsade infiltrationsegenskaper. Konsekvenser: I problembeskrivningen beskrivs problemet med att det blir allt fler översvämningar i urbana miljöer på grund av de hårdgjorda ytorna och de kraftiga regnen. Vidare beskrivs det att ledningssystemet därför riskerar att bli överbelastat. Detta problem bekräftades även i intervjuerna. Arbetet löste inte vilket utjämningsmagasin som är att föredra för alla typer av fall, utan för fall där tomtytan är begränsad och där jordmånen har begränsade infiltrationsegenskaper. Lösningen på problemet är därför att rörmagasin är det utjämningsmagasin som är att föredra vid lokalt omhändertagande av dagvatten vid dessa förhållanden. Vid tillämpning av detta resultat i verkligheten rekommenderas det att använda kostnaderna per meter och utjämningsvolym per meter som finns i arbetet för att komma fram till hur lång sträcka som rörmagasinet behöver anläggas på för att uppnå önskad utjämningsvolym. Poängsättningen som har gjorts för underhållet kan däremot återanvändas till andra fall. Begränsningar: Resultatet är tillämpbart i liknande typfall som för fallstudien, alltså vid radhus där ytan för utjämningsmagasinet är begränsat och där jordmånen har begränsade infiltrationsegenskaper. I arbetet har ett diagram tagits fram där anläggningskostnaden per meter framgår för respektive utjämningsmagasin och ett diagram med utjämnad volym dagvatten per meter. Dessa diagram kan därför tillämpas på andra fall med små ytor men med lite andra mått på tomten. Därav är resultatet även tillämpbart på andra fall. / Purpose: The problem with hard surfaces, as for example asphalt and roofing, is that they do not absorb enough rainwater. Furthermore, this leads to that grass surfaces and other absorbent surfaces around having to take care of all stormwater that the hardened surfaces cannot infiltrate. Flooding in urban environments has become increasingly common due to heavy rain and a high proportion of hard surfaces. This leads to an overload of the pipe line for rainwater. Therefore well-functioning balancing trays close to source needed to mimic natural drainage of nature. The goal was to investigate witch countervailing magazine mainly should be applied in heavily paved small terraced plots, where the soil has limited infiltration properties, in terms of efficiency, cost and maintenance. Method: The methods used to meet the objective is analysis of documents, qualitative interviews and a case study. The document analysis serves as a basis for the case study and interviews serve as empirical input for the case study. Findings: The countervailing magazine that is preferred is the pipe magazine when the plant surface is limited and the soil has limited infiltration properties. Implications: The problem statement treats the issue with an increasing number of floodings in urban environments due to the paved surfaces and the heavy rains. Furthermore, it is disclosed that the management system therefore risks becoming overloaded. This problem was also confirmed in the interviews. The work did not identify which countervailing magazine that is preferred for all kinds of cases, but only in the cases where land space is limited and where the soil has limited infiltration properties. The solution is therefore that pipe magazine is the magazine preferred for local disposal of stormwater in those circumstances. It is recommended when applying this result real life, to use the cost per meter and countervailing volume per meter available in efforts to work out how long stretch pipe magazine needs to be built on to achieve the desired equalization volume. Rating systems made for maintenance can however be used for other cases. Limitations: The result is applicable in similar scenarios as for the case study, which is at a row house site where the surface for the magazine is limited and where the soil has limited infiltration properties. A graph has been developed for the work where the construction cost per meter is described for each countervailing magazine and also has a graph with stormwater volume per meter been developed. These diagrams can therefore be applied to other cases with small areas but with other measures of the plot. Therefore the result also is applicable to other cases.

在以性別作為主要分眾依據的時尚雜誌中,男性與女性時尚雜誌對於不同性別的人物報導呈現方式有何差異?本研究引用角色理論、刻板印象概念相關之論述,對時尚雜誌中的封面,以及人物報導文章中的標題、圖片與文字描述等作量化式的內容分析,以探究時尚雜誌中性別角色描繪的區隔方式。 結果顯示男性雜誌中的男性人物通常被賦予嚴謹、理性印象,並且透過與女性化關聯意涵的隔離,刻畫一具「絕對的男子氣概」角色形象;男性雜誌中的女性角色則以表面化、簡單化、帶性意涵的方式呈現,職業角色極微,以符合刻板化典範的策略呈現之。 女性雜誌中的男性性別角色呈現,能允許部分非慣俗刻板印象,但僅限於外顯行為,大部分內容仍為刻板印象的複製;女性雜誌中的女性角色則相對能夠包容最多非刻板印象的角色呈現,內在部分刻畫具嚴謹性,職業形象鮮明,然外在描述則仍著重服裝、外貌身材部分,強調女性氣質,兩造形象的結合實為回應時尚雜誌商業訴求下的女性角色呈現模式。 研究建議後續相關的研究方向應可納入雜誌編輯的意見,以利更加明確的瞭解時尚雜誌行文編輯中運用以描繪性別角色之策略;另外,對閱聽人解讀效果的研究也利綜覽整個時尚雜誌性別角色呈現的傳播過程及其影響。 / To realize the differences of sex roles displayed between men's and women's fashion magazine, this study analyzed the headlines, pictures and contents in the interview articles of famous persons in both men's and women's magazines by quantitative content analysis. Based on the role theory, concepts of stereotype, and theories of communication, the study investigated how fashion magazines try to make distinction between male and female characters. The results of this study suggest 4 conclusions. 1) In men's magazines, male character is often described as serious and rational. Besides, by segregating from any feminine inference, men's magazines portray male character as "absolute masculinity". 2) In men's magazines, female character is simplified, and implied with sexual meaning. Moreover, female's occupational role is rarely mentioned, which is a strategy following stereotyped paradigm. 3) In women's magazines, male character is allowed to show part of unaccustomed image, but only limited to outward behaviors. Most contents still reproduce stereotyped sex roles. 4) Compared with men's magazines, women's magazines tend to grant the female character most non-stereotyped images in their displays. Internally, the female character is often described as staid and professional, while the external focus still centers on dressing, appearances and body shape. In effect, combining these two dimensions above is the strategy adopted by women's fashion magazines in order to fulfill commercial requests. This study also points out some potential issues for following researches. For example, the opinions of magazine editors could be involved to deepen the understanding of the sex-role displaying strategies. Moreover, exploring the effects of audience's interpretation also helps to overview the whole communicating process of sex-role concepts between readers and fashion magazines, and its upcoming influence.

Les pratiques de lecture des lectrices du Échos Vedettes

Ce mémoire s’attarde aux pratiques de lecture de lectrices du Échos Vedettes, magazine à potins québécois qui fête ses cinquante ans de publication en 2013. Cinq dimensions permettent de cerner et comprendre ces pratiques de lecture. Les trois premières prennent la forme d’un système composé de trois économies distinctes: l’économie spatio-temporelle, l’économie sociale et l’économie textuelle. Les répertoires de lecture ainsi que l’omniprésence de la photographie sont les deux dernières dimensions. Les données ont été recueillies dans le cadre d’entrevues individuelles de 6 lectrices régulières, recrutées par la méthode dite de « boule de neige ». L’analyse a, entre autres, permis de distinguer trois états que le Échos Vedettes incarne selon les moments, son rôle et son utilisation : une marchandise, un objet et un contenu. Les relations sociales entre femmes, les répertoires, la photographie ainsi que la ritualisation sont les principaux éléments qui caractérisent les pratiques de lecture des lectrices du Échos Vedettes. Ce sont des pratiques qui relèvent de l’amateur et de l’attachement à ce magazine à potins. Cette recherche a également mis en lumière les relations paradoxales de proximité, physique et / AbstractThis research is trying to understand the reading practices of the women who regularly reads the gossip magazine Échos Vedettes. Five concepts have been used, The first three are parts of an everyday reading economical system : spatio-temporal economy, social economy and economy of text. Reading repertoires and photography are the lasts concepts used. Six interviews have been done with women who regularly read Échos Vedettes. They have been recruted by the « snowball » method. The analysis showed that Échos Vedettes can have three different states depending on the moment, the use and its role. It can be seen as a commodity, as an object or as a content. Social relations between women, repertoires, photography and rituals are the principal elements that define the reading practices of women who read Échos Vedettes on a regular basis.

Diploma thesis "Alternative medicine in the specialized media and reflections of these phenomena in the selected mainstream press media" is researching specialized magazines with content oriented on alternative medicine emerging in the 90's of the previous century and in one case in the beginning of the 21st century. Thesis specifically examinates magazines - social magazine Reflex (on account of alternative medicine materials in the 1990 and 1991), Regena ( 1990 and 1991), Regenerace (1993 and 1994) and Meduňka (2004). In their first years magazines are described from historical and content perspective and in the same time they are contrasted with the topical volume of their predecessors (except of Reflex magazine). Another part of thesis is dedicated to observing two important czech daily papers - Mladá fronta / Mladá fronta Dnes and Lidové noviny (at the same observed periods). All five volumes of both periodicals contained numerous references which proves attractivity of these themes for society as a whole. While the analysis of specialized magazines was dealing with form by which are people interested in alternative medicine, reading of Mladá fronta / Mladá fronta Dnes and Lidové noviny evaluated general attitude of media to reader mostly uninitiated to these matters.

This diploma thesis observes representation and evolution of medical advertisement, products and services in print. This evolution is shown on comparing the two eras, the "first republic" and modern Czech Republic. The studied years of 1928 and 2008 demarcate the period of 80 years of transformation of advertisement market, but some of the rules are the same. The goal of this diploma thesis is to describe contemporary advertisement in chosen printed media, the magazines for public without specialization or further attributes "Světozor" and "Týden" serve for the research. The thesis observes which services and products were offered, in context of what and which methods were used. The text goes on from introduction to the topic and issues and analysis of particular samples from magazines to their comparation. The results of diploma thesis is the evaluation of used rules, according to the media themselves and the timeline. Thesis deals with the regulation of medical advertisement aswell. To compare them and increase the number of samples, the advertising of cosmetics sold in pharmacies is added. .

The Master's thesis focuses on the current on-board magazines of carriers operating in the Czech Republic. On-board magazines, ranking among the customer magazines are set in the context of marketing and media communication and subsequently defined on the basis of distinctive content and formal characteristics and communication objectives. There are seven current on-board magazines analyzed within the thesis (Review, Travel Service Magazine, ČD pro vás, Žlutý, LEO Express, Leopold and Můj vláček). Methodological background of this thesis is the qualitative content analysis, specifically two partial research methods: description and comparison. It evaluated thematic structure of each journal, graphic design and linguistic level, the historical development and the distribution method. Part of the analysis is also focused on blending of advertising and editorial content, which were investigated through framing analysis. The results of the qualitative analysis were verified by questionnaire survey.

Main theme of the diploma thesis is the children's magazine Junák, which is especially intended for members of the Czech Scout organization Junák. The thesis deals with the main ideas of the Scout Movement and its significance for the society. Further, it describes the history of Czech scouting from the beginning up to now. Subsequent part pays attention to the magazine Junák, its history and importance for the members to the Czech Scout organization. The second practical part is devoted to the research of the changes in a presentation of an ideal scout member in a various time periods based on articles published in the magazine Junák. As a method the quantitative content analysis is used. The survey explores how the characteristics, abilities, values and activities of the "good" scout have changed since the beginning of the 20th century. In addition it tries to find out if the scout was influenced by the contemporary political and social circumstances. The research part consists of eight particular presentations created by eight representative volumes of the magazine Junák. Conclusion is comprised of the summarizing overview based on the previous presentations. It stresses the changes and differences of the attributes of the scouts over almost one hundred years.

This diploma thesis researches the Czech printed magazine Kraus which was launched in November 2011 and ended in July 2012. The magazine was unique due to its media format of so called personality magazine. Kraus magazine was the first personality magazine in the Czech republic and no such other has been released since then. The thesis tracks and analyzes the existence of the magazine in Czech media market, while following the perspective of the critical political economy of communication. In order to put the Kraus magazine into a broader context of the political economy of communication, one part of the thesis is focused on foreign personality magazines such as Dutch Linda or American O, The Oprah Magazine. The successful Dutch Linda magazine was explicitly a pattern for Kraus, being published by the same media production company Sanoma Magazines. Another part of the thesis characterizes the public media image of Jan Kraus, a well-known Czech TV host, whose name and face the first Czech personality magazine bare. Marketing strategy, influences of the media management and ownership, advertising, internationalization, concepts such as commodification and structuration and more are the main interests of critical political economy and the key areas of this study too.
