Symmes Coll, Constanza 13 September 2018 (has links)
This thesis aims to understand the emergence of independent publishing in Chile since the turn of the 1990s. Coinciding with the return to democracy, this type of publishing is characterized by a confrontation between two different internationalization rationales in the global book market. One rationale is part of the process of concentration of the publishing market around multinationals. The other, is nourished by the symbolic capital accumulated and valued through international alliances between small publishers. In this last rationale, internationalization is about the fabrication of independence as a strategy of collective resistance. Based on the category of cultural diversity and the idea of the book "a product like no other", small publishers have built bridges between Latin America, Canada and France, which have enabled them to gain recognition from Chilean public agencies in the field of culture, while at the same time producing changes in the wider editorial space. The study of this repertoire of actions allow us to understand the political recognition of this small group of publishers, as a mechanism that enabled them to ensure their economic survival at the national and international levels, against the neoliberal logic of multinational publishing companies and the constraints of the transitional framework vis-à-vis books and reading.

This book includes the text parts of design proposal presentations as well as academic pa- pers of the International MinD Conference held in Dresden, Germany, in September 2019. Academic papers are marked with the Bachelor’s hat icon ( ) and design proposals are marked with a pen ( ). The content of the special workshops held at the conference is not included in this volume. The proceedings reflect a broad engagement with the field from a diverse range of re- searchers and practitioners from the various design and health disciplines, including prod- uct and interior design, craft, information and communication technologies, architecture and the built environment, psychiatry, psychology, geriatrics and others. Together, the contributions offer an overview of how design – as a process and an outcome – can help to support people to live well with dementia as well as their relatives, carers and care professionals. We hope that these contributions also provide a better insight into how design and designers can be used and developed to do so. By offering these insights and enhanced understanding, we hope to provide a better basis for collaborations between people living with dementia or designing for and concerned with dementia care to contrib- ute to improving life for those living with dementia [... from the Editorial Notes]

[en] A PLACE TO CALL HOME: THE IMAGINARY CONSTRUCTION OF REFUGE IN THE WORKS OF CHILDREN S AND YOUTH LITERATURE / [pt] UM LUGAR PARA CHAMAR DE SEU: O REFÚGIO IMAGINADO NA LITERATURA INFANTIL E JUVENIL

LUIZA GUERRA DE MIRANDA 30 October 2020 (has links)
[en] From the 20th century onwards, challenges faced by refugee populations have become increasingly well known. Indeed, since the end of World War II, there have never been so many refugees or asylum seekers around the world. As a result of the careful attention now devoted to migratory phenomena and to their social and cultural impact, recent years have seen a surge in the presence of such themes in children s and youth literature — segments which have historically viewed literature as an instrument to culturally apprehend the world. In contemporary times, a symbolic effort is repeatedly made to encourage children and youth to reflect on the crisis; moreover, there is a growing interest in analysing literary works which may raise awareness about the material conditions of refuge. In light of this panorama, this dissertation analyses five literary works: Migrando (2015), by Mariana Chiesa Mateos; Para onde vamos (2016), written by Jairo Buitrago and illustrated by Rafael Yockteng; O cometa é um sol que não deu certo (2017), written by Tadeu Sarmento and illustrated by Apo Fousek; A menina que abraça o vento (2018), written by Fernanda Paraguassu and illustrated by Suryara Bernardi; and Refugiados (2019), by Alan Gratz. As it acknowledges the contemporary relevance of refuge-related issues, our study reflects on the imaginary construction of the refugee child in the works of children s and youth literature which compose our corpus. In particular, we wish to discuss the de-stabilizing experiences undergone by the characters and to critically approach the social issues which frame and inform the narratives. Finally, we aim to advance a new reading of the narratives in focus and to broaden their interpretive possibilities.

Andre, Morgane 10 1900 (has links)
In this paper we will look at socio-political roles in the daily media. The objective of this study is to understand the meaning of national space in Quebec during a historical period of transformation that was taking place in numerous societies. More specifically, we aim to examine the conflict at the heart of the nation’s social role, from the perspective of an ideological federalist work by the Quebecois, who see themselves as promoters of their nation while simultaneously integrated in Canada’s national jurisdiction. The results of this qualitative study come from a semantic analysis of editorial articles from the newspaper La Presse. We have analyzed the different categories of information made available while the national space movement was taking place, as well as how they were organized around views during two referendums in 1980 and 1995. This study is therefore created in a context of socio-journalistic information. The social view points, derived from the study of social roles and sociology in the media, can only be considered in the context of the network of social relationships of which they are a product. Here we are trying to define the meaning of the specifications in editorial views, as well as the various areas of knowledge used in this text. Thanks to a diachronic description we can look at the evolution of social roles within Quebec’s national space between the two periods of time studied. Once we’ve defined our subject concerning national space, we will then analyze the way in which the views are structured. Through this process of identifying the different types of view; rhetorical and argumentative, created to persuade and justify the action (the rejection of the two referendums, and the adhesion to promises of renewed federalism), and the logic of the views used to show the nation as a rational political focus or not. Definitively, the editorial views help us to shed light on the cognitive organization of knowledge, which is almost mechanically structured between the rational (editorialism, federalism, economics, universalism, accepted social thinking) and the irrational (souverainism, having only dreamers and idealists as leaders), situated, since then, in a political debate more resembling propaganda than an admirable initiative proposed by editorial views.

Ediční zásahy do vybraných pohádek Boženy Němcové v 19. a 20. století / The editorial adaptations of selected fairy tales of Božena Němcová in the 19th and 20th century

Havrlantová, Markéta January 2011 (has links)
The thesis is concerned with editorial changes in three of the fairy tales by Božena Němcová (Chytrá horákyně, Čert a Káča, O hloupém Honzovi). The source material is comprised of forty editions; the oldest of the texts is that of the first edition (published 1845-1847), the most recent text was published in 2009. The full texts of the forty editions of the three fairy tales are enclosed on a CD. Editorial changes in the source texts (in contrast to the first edition) have been highlighted. The thesis itself is divided into six main sections. The first section is introductory and it chiefly describes the selection of the material and the method of its processing. The second chapter deals with selected orthographic issues, particularly with the placement of exclamation marks and semicolons, and writing j in the auxiliary verb být in the preterite (šel sem / šel jsem). (Not) writing j in the auxiliary verb být is a stylistic device which helps to distinguish the speech of one of the characters. However, most editors change all forms to the variant with j, whereby the stylistic distinction is lost. The third chapter examines morphology, especially the alteration of selected verb forms. Topics of the subchapters are: supine, participles, past conditional and verb tenses. Editions published after 1989...

The pulishing industry under the reign of Charles IV (1789-1808) throughout Madrid’s newspapers’ bookshop publications

Cavaillon Giomi, Joan 15 June 2013 (has links)
Long neglected as a primary source of historical studies in Spain, the Press has become a valuable source for a lot of researchers since the pioneering work of A.G.N. Alongside sections solely devoted to information and feature stories, which are of particular interest to the history of events and mentalities, the numerous notices which make up the contents of periodicals allow for particularly useful socio-economic studies as regards the eighteenth century.Maria José Seoane already relied on this kind of sources from La Gaceta de Madrid and Diario de Madrid for the period spanning between 1808 and 1819. As far as we are concerned, focusing on the period covering Charles IV's reign (1788-1808) and using bookshop publications from all of Madrid 's periodicals of the time, we intend not to confine our thesis to the simple enumeration of the reading lists but, on the contrary, to evaluate the print production of the second half of the eighteenth century, at the light of those reading lists. We also intend to study the diffusion networks as well as the strategies that were developed by writers and editors alike before the successes or failures of their undertaking. We thus hope to make a valuable contribution to the study of books and book reading and therefore allow for a better understanding of what was the first vehicle for the dissemination of the ideas of The Enlightenment in Spain.
