Komparativní sémotická analýza reklamního prostoru české a korejské mutace časopisu Elle / Comparative Semiotic Analysis of Czech and Korean version of Elle Magazine Adventisings

Hybrantová, Romana January 2017 (has links)
The thesis entitled Comparative Semiotic Analysis of Czech and Korean version of Elle Magazine Advertisings deals with the comparison of advertisings in the Czech and South Korean versions of global lifestyle magazine ELLE in terms of semiotic analysis. The thesis is structured in classical terms with theoretical starting points representing three key areas needed for analysis. The first part deals with the concept of the media, media product and its content. It also provides information about the ELLE magazine and its internationalization with special emphasis on South Korean cultural specificities. Also it cannot be forgotten the chapter devoted to the theory of socail construction of reality based on the work of Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann. The second part is key because it brings knowledge about the semiotics and the main representatives of the field. The thesis thus represents Charles Sanders Peirce, Ferdinand de Saussure and especially the mythology of Roland Barthes. The last theoretical part looked at the essence of marketing communication and advertising and the use of celebrities in advertising campaigns. The analysis part as based on the theoretical basis focuses on the semiotic analysis of advertisements targeting the Czech and South Korean markets, with almost 470 campaigns in the...

Elle - före och efter #metoo

Claesson, Jennie, Håsäther, Victoria, Kramer, Hanna January 2019 (has links)

Founded in 1945 in France and launched in 1986 in Brazil, Elle Brazil is a women's magazine, which its main thematic fields are fashion, beauty, lifestyle and health (fitness). The publication operates nowadays on the production and distribution of content on different platforms involving both printed and digital editions, a page in the website M de Mulher, from Editora Abril, and profiles on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Periscope. This work intends to exam how Elle Brazil magazine operates the enunciation mechanisms in each media platform of its transmedia project. It also seeks to understand how the aesthesic component acts in the resizing of such mechanisms, and how the discursive interactions occur on every platform that are part of the transmedia project and that also delimit the visibility schemes involved in the performance of readers in such medias. The research starts from the hypothesis that the multiple enunciation platforms of Elle Brazil configure a transmedia narrative. It also rises the issues that each media has a distinct enunciation process; that the discursive interactions based on transitivity relationships are what enables the construction of transmedia narratives and that, in the case of transmedia narrative elaborated by Elle Brazil, the make feel goes beyond a simple reactive adjustment. The analysis is based on the theoretical and methodological framework of the Discursive Semiotics of Algirdas Julien Greimas; the Sociosemiotics of Eric Landowski, focusing on his studies on regimes of interaction, and the Plastic Semiotics, developed by authors such as Jean-Marie Floch and Ana Claudia de Oliveira. For the understanding of the enunciation processes in different medias, the studies of Jose Luiz Fiorin are prioritized and to approach the concept of transmediation, Yvana Fechine's and Henry Jenkins's research. The delimitation of the corpus was chosen from the media coverage of Elle Brazil on the Sao Paulo Fashion Week 2016 (SPFW N41) and was organized by aspectual categories which ultimately guided the analysis of each media platform and its operations within the transmedia project. The investigation of the behaviour of each media of Elle Brazil while covering the SPFW N41 showed a greater predisposition to subjectivity within their strategies of enunciation, as well as the presence of discursive interactions based on transitivity and visibility relations anchored in a wanting to be seen / Esta pesquisa busca investigar de que forma a revista Elle Brasil redimensiona os mecanismos de enunciação em múltiplas plataformas na construção do seu projeto transmídia.

Larsson, Amanda January 2013 (has links)
Lifestyle magazines portray women in different manners and have an influence on how media consumers create self-images. The importance of knowing how different visual representation of the female acts out in magazines with large target audiences is therefore of weight for the magazines’ readers to understand. This thesis analyze how the two lifestyle magazines ELLE and LOVE portrays women in images and how they in turn create ideal images of women. The thesis has been conducted through a qualitative analysis of 5 images from each magazine that represents the magazines artistic styles. The theories used in this study are semiotic image analysis and visual text analysis viewed from a gender- and discourse perspective. The conclusion of this thesis is that ELLE portrays women as strong, happy and feminine, with at tendency towards androgyny, while LOVE describes women as inferior and sexual objects constructed for the male gaze. The magazines, which belong to a classic- respectively a post-modern genre within lifestyle magazines, thereby switch places with each other and becomes each other’s counterparts.

Lacis, Jenny, Sandahl, Sara January 2013 (has links)

La déclinaison au Vietnam de la presse magazine féminine internationale haut de gamme, dans le contexte politico-économique du Doi Moi et de l’ouverture du pays aux industries créatives européennes de la filière Mode : L’exemple du déploiement stratégique de la marque Elle Vietnam / High-end international women’s magazine diversification in Vietnam, within the Doi Moi public context and beyond, following the business friendly attitude of the country towards European creative industries dedicated to fashion. : The case of Elle

Pham, Thi Lan 10 December 2018 (has links)
With the new Doi Moi policy launched in the eighties in Vietnam, Vietnam created a new environment geared towards modernity. In 2010, Elle Vietnam stepped up in Vietnam as a new women's magazine international leader, as a branch of Elle, a French women's magazine dedicated to modern, international, beautiful women as well as luxury. We will focus our developments on the framework that led to "modernity" in Vietnam, as well as the international brand designed by Elle Vietnam. Also, how do the Vietnamese producers adapt to the global brand Elle expansion? With the point of view of Vietnamese producers, we will focus our developments on the understanding of what Roland Barthes once called a “mythological tank”.

Damková, Jitka January 2019 (has links)
Diploma Thesis Celebrity Marketing as a Tool for Marketing Communication: A Comparison of the Attitudes of the Brands Lancôme and Estée Lauder addresses the phenomenon of celebrity marketing and also how these brands work with celebrities in their advertising campaigns. The thesis is opened by a theoretical chapter that deals with the concept of celebrity, history of celebrity and celebrity marketing as well. It deals with the theories of choice of celebrities, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using famous faces in the campaigns. In the descriptive part, there are descripted selected brands, their history, identity and ways of their working with the celebrities. The analytical part of the thesis examines how are celebrities used by both brands. For the analysis, the printed magazine (Elle, Marianne and Marie Claire) and the advertisements inside were selected. The main focus is on determining whether the celebrities are really used by the brands and how. It is believed that the brands use celebrities, but each brand works differently with them. The work primarily uses the methods of quantitative content analysis, but part of the research is also qualitative. The main goal of the thesis is to find out to what extent celebrities are used in the marketing campaigns of both brands and...

Portraits of Maintenon: edifying depictions of a royal mistress

Mason, Ashley Marie 01 May 2012 (has links)
Portraits of the Marquise de Maintenon by Louis Ferdinand Elle II and Pierre Mignard are frequently reproduced in the various factual and fictional biographies of Maintenon, but have only been significantly mentioned by art historians in broader studies of the period or in comparison to other portraits. In this thesis, these portraits will be significantly and singularly addressed in a larger study of Maintenon as patron. Both portraits have connections to events occurring in the life of Maintenon at the time of their creation and can be clearly understood as representations of her intended public identity. In addition, each seems to have an interesting relationship to both negative contemporary criticism of Maintenon and to her subsequent legacy. The chapters are ordered chronologically and each involves a discussion of the meaningful visual elements in each portrait. As the earliest portrait that can be firmly considered part of Maintenon's constructed public identity, Louis Elle's Marquise de Maintenon and her Niece is the focus of the first chapter. An analysis of the many possible layers of meaning within this portrait is discussed in relation to Maintenon's complicated legacy. The second chapter centers upon revealing the original function of Mignard's Marquise de Maintenon as St. Frances of Rome and its relationship to the controversy involving Quietism with which Maintenon was involved at the time of the portrait's creation. In the final chapter, the way in which these portraits influence Maintenon's legacy is analyzed. Finally, in the conclusion, the obstacles involved in the study of representations of Maintenon are discussed and suggestions are made of issues requiring further study.
