Archeologie města Mostu (čp. 45-47). Vybrané kapitoly I / Archaeology of the town of Most (Nos. 45-47). Selected chaptersKabeláčová, Petra January 2021 (has links)
The submitted master's thesis deals with the issue of urban archaeology, specifically on the example of Most plots No. 45-47. It is based on a summary of knowledge gained during rescue archaeological research, which took place between 1977 and 1978. An integral part is also the analysis and evaluation of material culture finds together with the ceramic inventory, which became the basis for the chronological sequence. The question of possible production activities that could be operated within the plots is further addressed based on the found artifacts. The final part thematically focuses on the progress and character of development in the plots in the 13th - 16th century, considering other contexts - within the city of Most, archaeology of cities in the Czech lands and archaeology of cities in Central Europe. Key words urban archaeology, medieval plots, housing, outbuildings, everyday life

Každodennost v raném novověku z pohledu Zuzany Černínové / Everyday life in the early modern culture from the perspective of Zuzana ČernínováBenešová, Kateřina January 2017 (has links)
In my diploma thesis, I will deal with the life of Zuzana Černínová, Czech noblewoman, wife of Jan Černín from Chudenice and mother of Humprecht Jan Černín. My aim will be to approach everyday life in the early modern culture, particularly in period of Bílá hora, through Zuzana Černínová, and her numerous correspondence with her son, which has been largely preserved and was published by František Dvorský and Zdeněk Kalista. From the comprehensive correspondence, I set apart the main topics that have become the base of my thesis. I will divide my thesis into two parts. In the first part I will deal with the definition of the term "everyday life" and here I will interpret all important life events such as birth, marriage, death and funeral, where I will focus closely on Zuzana Černínová and her family. In relation to these life events I will also include the widow's dowry and the legal requirements associated with it or the influence of illnesses on contemporary society. In the second part of my research, I will focus on the person of Zuzana Černínová. I am going to analyze her position of the noblewoman which changed before and after the death of her husband, the rights she acquired after the death of her husband and her situation. It also includes the different position of the noblewoman-widow when...

Attentional selection and suppression in non-clinical adults : An event-related potential studyMagnusson, Oscar January 2020 (has links)
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests as a developmentally inappropriate pattern of inattention, and hyperactivity or impulsivity. ADHD is a multifactorial disorder with inter alia deficits in selective attention processing. The current diagnosis of ADHD is error-prone as it relies on subjective descriptions and external observations of behavior. Measures that are less reliant on subjective descriptions can enable more accurate and informative diagnoses of ADHD. Wang et al. (2016) have identified two event-related potential (ERP) components, posterior contralateral N2 (N2pc) and distractor positivity (PD) as predictors of ADHD symptom severity in children. N2pc reflects target selection and PD reflects distractor suppression during visual selective attention. The present study aimed to examine how target-evoked N2pc and distractor-evoked PD related to attentional capacity in non-clinical adults. Participants were presented with a visual search paradigm and a self-report scale, the Everyday Life Attention Scale (ELAS). The amplitude of target-evoked N2pc and distractor-evoked PD amplitude was compared to ELAS score in multiple linear regression models. Results displayed that the peak amplitude of target-evoked N2pc was a significant predictor of attentional capacity (as measured with ELAS), while the peak amplitude of distractor-evoked PD was not associated with attentional capacity. Participants with higher attentional capacity (ELAS score) displayed less negative peak amplitudes of target-evoked N2pc. This seems to suggest that target selection, but not distractor suppression in nonclinical adults can predict attentional capacity. However, due to a limited sample size, further research is needed before drawing any major conclusions.

Background: The burden of stroke is rising globally which makes this a relevant and important subject for nurses. Consequences after stroke vary in its degree of functional ability, both physical and cognitive. Fatigue, aphasia, and depression are common in the aftermath of a stroke. Aim: To describe people and their experiences of suffering a stroke. Method: A literature review using a qualitative approach where the data has been analyzed using a thematic analysis by Braun and Clark. The result is based on ten quality reviewed articles.Result: Three final themes: “the loss of control and identity “, “changed emotional life and depression” and “the importance of a safe social network”. Most participants described the stroke as a dramatic change in their life where support from significant others were important and that the event influenced their self-image and identity. Summary: The journey to recovery for a person who’s suffered a stroke can be long and hard. People don’t always experience enough support or help along the way back to a normal life post stroke. Healthcare can improve person-centered care by conducting more studies about the psychosocial aspects that people who've suffered a stroke can experience.

Útěk do Sovětského svazu a věznění v gulagu ve vzpomínkách přeživších Rusínů a Židů z Podkarpatské Rusi / Escape to the Soviet Union and imprisonment in the gulag in memories of surviving Ruthenians and Jews from Carpathian RutheniaUrban, Tomáš January 2021 (has links)
The thesis deals with interpretations of the memories of Ruthenians and Jews who fled to the Soviet Union after the occupation of Carpathian Ruthenia by the Hungarian army in 1939 to find freedom and justice, but instead encountered imprisonment and repression and they ended up in the gulag for several years. On a daily basis, they were exposed to hard physical labor, hunger, thirst, Arctic frost, disease, cruel treatment and a permanent struggle for life. While Czechoslovak citizenship guaranteed Ruthenian citizens a pardon of the remainder of their sentences, early release from Stalinist concentration camps and participation in a training center in Buzuluk, Jews did not get such an opportunity due to alleged Hungarian nationality and had to live in the gulag on and on, even for more time than was determined by the court during the trumped-up political trials. Therefore, the Ruthenians had a significant presence in the formed Czechoslovak military unit and participated in the final defeat of the Hitlerˈs army. For the most part, they did not return to Carpathian Ruthenia because they did not agree with its post-war accession to the USSR, which hurt them so much. Despite this, they did not lose their left-wing orientation, many even joined the Communist Party, believing that Czechoslovak socialism...

Poruchy příjmu potravy z genderové perspektivy: nemoc, či součást života? / Eating Disorders from a gender perspective: disease, or part of life?Kaválková, Kristýna January 2011 (has links)
Eating Disorders from a gender perspective: disease, or part of life? Bc. Kristýna Kaválková ABSTRACT This dissertation deals with a problem of "eating disorders", which are defined in medical literature, media and magazines as psychological disease, which relates to pathological way of dealing with food, body and himself/herself. It shows that that this area is not neutral from the gender point of view; eating disorders are usually women's matter. Based on semi-structured interviews within the framework of qualitative research, this work analyses opinions of women, who have experience with this, especially their experience of their physicality and daily life. It is also focused on how women perceive the presentation of eating disorders, which concerns them, in media, medical publications and society and how they interpret their status as those who are recovering from this illness. Women's testimonies point at the fact that their surroundings look at them as persons defined through their illness, as persons, who are exclusively connected with pathology and stigma. This view of surroundings, media and specialists, however, omit the diversity of human identities. It shows that women alone can interpret their experiences in different way. They perceive their eating disorder in the context of dominant discourse...

Film and Emotional Contagion: Audiencing, Witnessing, and Performing the Lingua Franca of Compassion.January 2019 (has links)
abstract: Utilizing visual semiotics and performance theories as a backdrop to inform a discussion regarding entertainment education and community dialogue, this study explores a unique case of compassionate communication being enacted at the most crucial moment – facing a school shooter at the height of a critical juncture. Through narrative film techniques and dramatism, a recreation of the real-life event was re-framed and distilled into a documentary-style film to showcase to general audiences for the purpose of dialogue catalyzation and elicitation. The film acts as a provocative statement for the process of conducting a Civil Dialogue® with the viewing audience. Qualitative analysis of 12 dialogue groups and 15 individual interviews (primarily college students) explores the impact film has on viewers’ perceptions, their participation in dialogue, and the role of affect when it comes to communicating with others. Findings suggest a positive correlation between film, emotional engagement, and dialogue participation, with significant impact on viewer’s perceptions and indications of influencing anticipated future behavior. Additional findings and analysis reveal a cultural master narrative of “fight or flight” syndrome, and a tendency toward spectacle or doing things “for show.” Novel concepts such as visual capital and performative cognition emerge to inform a new arts-based method and the development of a theory referred to as the Tuff-Hill Phenomenon. / Dissertation/Thesis / Documentary Film - "A Way Out" / Doctoral Dissertation Communication Studies 2019
