Posouzení řízení projektů v konkrétní společnosti a doporučení vhodných metodik. / Assessment of project management within a particular organization and recommendation of appropriate methodologies

Pešková, Barbora January 2011 (has links)
Currently published statistics focused on the area of software projects are very disturbing. It is alarming that, according to research company Standish Group only 32% of IT projects end successfully. The percentage of cancelled projects, 24%, is even more disturbing. The applied methodology should contribute to the increase success of the software engineering projects. Statistics show that the methodology applied in the work sphere, is currently used by more than 50% of firms. This work shows the development of specific software in a small IT company, which currently is not supported by any methodology of IS / ICT. The primary objective of this work is the evaluation of the methodology best suited to the needs of business presented. The first chapter of the theoretical part deals with the issues of software engineering and is focused mainly on the area of IT projects success rates and related critical factors of software engineering. The second chapter is then devoted to the history of software engineering and describes the important milestones leading to the development of the most well-known life cycle models and methodologies. The main part of the theoretical block is devoted to methodologies of IS / ICT. This passage is particularly concentrating on the meaning of methodologies in the management of development projects. It also focuses on comparing agile and rigorous methodologies and deals with the assessment of appropriate methodologies for the development of IS / ICT in small businesses. The first part of the practical unit focuses on the introduction of the presented company. The following chapters are devoted to analyzing the current state of software engineering of the client, leading to the detection of the major problems of current development. The analysis is followed by chapter, which is devoted to the presentation of five agile methodologies which were selected on the basis of criteria based on client's specific requirements and needs. The final part is devoted to the evaluation of methodologies based on meeting the given criteria and according to the level of support solutions to the problems analyzed. Based on the resulting findings the client is recommended specific methodology and the appropriate procedure outlined in the implementation of the chosen methodology.

Batut, Eric 03 June 2002 (has links) (PDF)

Huynh, Jack, Gylin, Mattias January 2005 (has links)
<p>Today wireless transmission of data is becoming more and more popular and the need for faster transmission rates is increasing. Since the bandwidth is limited it is important to try to use it to the fullest. CDMA is a technology that allows multiple accesses on the same frequency and time thus making it very bandwidth efficient. The CDMA technology was first introduced in the second generation’s cellular systems but has since then been improved and is reused in today’s 3G systems as Wideband CDMA. ISY is interested in getting a behavioural model of a W-CDMA system since they had developed a DSP processor called BBP1 and were thinking about adding W-CDMA support for it. Even though our system is not implemented on the BBP1 it should provide a good base for future implementations. This thesis project will describe the construction of a behavioural model of a W-CDMA system following the standard specified by 3GPP. The system simulates W-CDMA transmission and reception and has an optional channel used to simulate real world interference. The receiver uses a rake combiner to improve the performance of the system.</p>

A metodologia é avaliada, numa primeira etapa, utilizando dados simulados e posteriormente utilizando dados experimentais. / The present work proposes the study and implementation of a methodology for the estimating of the modal parameters of structures by using the output-only data. The technique called Frequency Domain Decomposition (DDF) identifies the modal parameters without knowing the input. For that, it is discussed the basic concepts involved in identification, modal analysis and output-only modal analysis. The formulation of the algorithm is based on the decomposition of the power spectral density matrix by using the singular values decomposition technique (SVD). The decomposition of the spectral density matrix for the lines of frequency corresponding to the amplitude peaks, allows the estimating of the modes shape of the system. Additionally, the first singular vector obtained with the decomposition of the spectral density matrix, for each line of frequency, in the area around of the peak, contains the respective information of that mode. The corresponding singular value leads to an estimating of the spectral density function of an equivalent system of one degree of freedom. Therefore, the output spectral density matrix is decomposed in a set of one degree of freedom system. Later on, those data are transformed for the time domain by using the inverse Fourier transform and the damping ratios estimated from the crossing times and the logarithm decrement of the corresponding single degree of freedom system correlation function. The methodology is evaluated using simulated and experimental data.

DESIGN AND COMMISSIONING OF A TEST STAND TO CONDUCT PERFORMANCE DEGRADATION STUDIES AND ACCELERATED LIFE TESTING ON WATER-COOLED VARIABLE-SPEED SCREW COMPRESSOR CHILLERS

Andreas Josef Hoess (12474678) 28 April 2022 (has links)
<p>  </p> <p>Environmental challenges, increasing energy costs and demand, and upcoming regulations (e.g., new equipment performance ratings, phase-down of HFCs) are a few of the main drivers behind the research on advanced HVAC&R equipment. The HVAC&R systems are one of the largest energy consumers in both commercial and residential buildings and their operation is essential to ensure thermal comfort as well as other industrial needs. Within this context, large chillers provide chilled water to condition commercial buildings and the new generation of smart chillers feature variable speed compressors that enable active capacity modulation. In turn, variable speed operation along with other factors can contribute to performance degradation. Understanding mechanisms of degradation and developing models that enable predicting the decrease in performance with respect to the rated values are still open topics in the literature. </p> <p>The overarching goal of this research is to investigate the performance degradation of a water-cooled variable-speed screw chiller under long term operation and to gain insights on the behavior of the chiller under accelerated life testing. In particular, this thesis covers the initial task of designing an experimental test setup that enables performance testing according to the AHRI 550/590 standard. Once the experimental setup was commissioned, a set of four standard-conform baseline tests was conducted to map the rated performance of the chiller at both full and part-load conditions. After completing the baseline tests, an accelerated life test cycle procedure was developed and implemented in order to conduct 24/7 automated testing on the chiller. To this end, two test modes were established to simulate a real-life use of the chiller and induce high level of thermo-mechanical stresses on the compressor. Furthermore, eight recurring baseline tests were conducted to determine the performance behavior after 1000 operating hours. Finally, a preliminary system model was set up. This thesis describes the design of the system, the commissioning and control and provides insights on the performance testing as well as long-term testing methodology and the modeling work that was done so far. </p>

Characterization of the A/B regulon in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum)

Reed, Deborah G. 29 July 2003 (has links)
Plant alkaloids are secondary metabolites that may be synthesized in an inducible defense response to herbivory (Baldwin 1999). Genetic engineering of secondary metabolic pathways in plants to enhance or reduce metabolite production is limited by the current understanding of these pathways and their regulation in response to environmental conditions. This study was intended to provide new insights into the mechanism and regulation of alkaloid biosynthesis in N. tabacum by identifying genes that are coordinately regulated during conditions that induce alkaloid biosynthesis and by comparing their expression in regulatory mutant backgrounds that differ at two quantitative alkaloid loci, A and B. In order to identify novel genes that are differentially expressed during alkaloid biosynthesis, the transcriptional profiling procedure, fluorescent differential display (FDD), was used to screen total RNA isolated from Burley 21 (WT, AABB) and LA21 (low alkaloid regulatory mutant, aabb) tobacco root cultures that were induced for alkaloid synthesis. Four of thirteen cloned FDD fragments showed sequence homology to genes with defense-related functions. The differential expression of genes represented by selected FDD gene fragments was confirmed by comparing Northern blots of transcripts of those genes to known alkaloid biosynthetic genes, putrescine methyl transferase (PMT3), ornithine decarboxylase (ODC3), arginine decarboxylase (ADC1), and quinolinate phosphoribosyltransferase (QPRT). The role of the A and B loci in differential expression of genes represented by FDD clones and of known nicotine biosynthetic genes was examined using quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (QRT-PCR) to measure transcript levels of these genes in four tobacco genotypes differing in alkaloid content, Burley 21(AABB), HI21 (AAbb), LI21(aaBB), and LA21 (aabb). Results of this study suggest that the A/B regulon is not limited to alkaloid biosynthetic genes, but includes multiple genes with defense-related functions. QRT-PCR analysis of nicotine biosynthetic genes and genes represented by confirmed differentially expressed FDD clones showed increased mRNA accumulation in response to alkaloid induction in all the tested genotypes, which suggests that the A and B mutations affect overall mRNA accumulation levels, rather than gene inducibility, per se. Which agile methodology suits you? By applying the results on a multi-disciplinary project in a small company

Saadatmand, Fatemeh January 2013 (has links)
Choosing the Software Development Methodology is the very first step of any project; thus, has been a hot topic among, both, practitioners and academic people. After using plandrivensoftware development methodologies software development researchers came up withthe idea of agile software development methodologies as a masterpiece. Although, failurestories of some teams brought about fading the idea that agile methodologies are thebest recipe for any kind of development project. Considering the lack of studies in helpingpractitioners to select the most appropriate agile software methodology, this study aims atprovide the software development manager with a thorough knowledge of agile methodologiesand the criteria that should be considered, while selecting one of them. A case study is used asan empirical support. / Program: Magisterutbildning i informatik
