Mota, Silvana Aparecida Gonçalves da 23 February 2017 (has links)
Science Fairs are events that occur in schools and other spaces, where students present the results of works developed by them, with the support of teachers during the school year, propitiating exchanges of experiences among all participants and the dissemination of research results. In this scenario, this work aimed to understand the relationship between teachers of Basic Education and Ciência Viva Fair, a municipal and annual event that occurs in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, since 1995, promoting the visibility of works developed by the students under the guidance of public and private school teachers from the city and region. The research data were constructed through interviews with teachers who participated in the 19th edition of the Fair, and the difficulties pointed out by participants about the institutional infrastructure were: 1) Lack of material resources; 2) Lack of support at school; 3) Lack of school structure; 4) Lack of time for work. Even in face of these difficulties, the results showed that there are educators committed to education and intend to innovate the pedagogical practice, contributing to the students training. Thus, enthusiasm, self-improvement and increasing in the self-esteem of students are important factors that motivate and foster them to participate in the meeting. Therefore, we recognize that these teachers contribute to the scientific education of students, instigating the constant learning and believing in the potential of each individual. As an educational product of this study, we developed a support material (tutorial) available on the website of Diversão com Ciência e Arte Museum (Dica), of Institute of Physics of Federal University of Uberlândia (Infis/UFU) and in the mobile application format. It was made in order to ease the specific necessities faced by the participating teachers of the Fair, such as the banner preparation, the project structuration and the logbook organization. It is worth mentioning that we believe in the pertinence and contribution of this instructional material, since it emerged from the results observed in the present investigation. / Dissertação (Mestrado)

Pavilhões e centros de exposições em São Paulo: cidadelas modernas do mundo globalizado / Pavillions and exhibition centers: \"neo medieval cities\" to a global and ephemeral world

Kleber Santos Carvalho 06 April 2009 (has links)
This paper studies the types of buildings called Pavilions and Exhibition Centers of a covered area in excess of 20,000 sq. m. (215.28 sq. ft) as exhibition space existing in the city of São Paulo. First, a survey is presented on the background of the developments that preceded the current Trade Fairs and Industrial Shows and their reverberations in space, from Classical Antiquity, through Medieval Fairs and the Industrial Revolution in Europe to the Universal Exhibitions. Based on that framework, the operationality of this typology, its agents and the relations underlying its main activities, their location and other urban facilities with complementary functions are detailed. Next, examples from our state capital and from other cities are reviewed, in an attempt to draw the components that characterize a pavilion or exhibition center. These approaches lead the way to a proposed general program and to the graphic representation of the physical layout of these buildings (fl ow chart). Finally, a study on the dynamics of fairs and exhibitions identifi es the characteristics capable of exerting an infl uence and/or determining the need and confi guration of spaces. The main conclusions on the core theme are then set out as a contribution to future studies on this type of construction, whether for the purpose of construction renovation or retrofi tting or for new implementation.

As feiras e congressos médicos como círculos de cooperação no espaço: a integração do complexo industrial da saúde e a inserção da lógica corporativa no hospital / Medical trade fairs and congresses as cooperation circles in space: the integration of the Health Industrial Complex and the insertion of corporate logic in the hospital.

Flávio de Campos Vendrusculo 08 December 2016 (has links)
This research consists in the organization, analysis and interpretation of information and data enough to sufficiently compose a theoretical and empirical framework about medical trade fairs and medical congresses as circles of cooperation in in space. As to follows the analysis of the current role of temporary geographical proximity in the technical-scientific and informational period in order to comprehend the possible roles of these temporary communicational densities in the current context of geographical fragmentation of production, economic internationalization, and the widespread need of information and knowledge circulation. In this sense, the study of medical trade fairs and medical congresses related to the study of the transformation of Brazil\'s geographical space intertwined with the study of the development of the Brazilian health industrial complex allowed us to understand those two phenomena as elements that sustain the contemporary circles of cooperation, by overlapping local and global and constituting ephemeral gathering of a globalized solidarity made possible through the international division of labor

Understanding educators' and learners' perceptions and experiences of their participation in Science Fairs/Expos : a South African case study.

Kahenge, Wendelina Nambahu January 2014 (has links)
The rationale behind Science Expos is to develop and empower learners to be able to identify problems and find solutions (Eskom Expo Project Guide Book, 2013). It is believed that involvement in Science Expos arouses learners' interest to pursue science related careers. But despite these ideals, there is still poor participation in Science Expos by educators and learners. I conducted this case study in five schools in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The purpose of this study was to understand educators' and learners' perceptions and experiences of their participation in Science Expos. The case study was designed within an interpretive paradigm. The data were generated, triangulated and validated by a variety of methods, namely, document analysis, interviews (semi-structured and focus group) and observations. The main findings of the study were that learners who participate in Science Expos attend workshops organised by Scifest and SAEON office with the help of some of the educators and lecturers from Rhodes University. Learners' participation was influenced and assisted by the educators and peers with whom they were able to communicate and share their projects with. It emerged from the study that, as a result of participating in Science Expos, educators (teachers) and learners were exposed to a wide variety of scientific investigations and skills that are necessary for their classroom based-scientific investigations. It also emerged from this study that educators and learners face the challenge of a lack of motivation; insufficient support from schools and parents; time constraints to support learners in their participation and a lack of knowledge among some educators on their learners' projects. Some learners are even discouraged from participating in Science Expos by their peers on the grounds that they have no chance of winning. Teachers therefore require continuous mentorship and capacity building in order to encourage their learners to partake.

Hausmann-Hofer, Michaela 13 April 2021 (has links)

Samo Terrasa, Antonio 04 November 2022 (has links)
[EN] Carving is one of the oldest sculptural processes. It is a subtractive technique through which starting from a solid mass the material is shaped by the cutting, the chiseling or the abrasion. This means, which became very popular in the past and which was preferred by artists such as Phidias, Michelangelo, Brancusi or Barbara Hepworth, involves both a slow and laborious process and also a measured development. According to this, it is a dissonant work in the contemporany social context, whose fast and hectic lifestyle would not assume it as a natural issue into the artistic system. Moreover, its use in today's art has declined such an extent that these days it is considered as"out of fashion". This research analyses what it is configurated as a documentary corpus from both qualitative and quantitative approaches, in order to introduce a guide of contemporary artists whose poetics go on showing the importance of this kind of sculpture technique. In this way, we are trying to argue thoughtfully that it has not only resisted the passage of time but it has also been able to adapt it to our current context. / Engineering through pre-university student\'s eyes and the impact of science fairs.

Depieri, Adriana Anunciatto 11 December 2014 (has links)
A changing world, with increasing needs of global science and technology solutions, makes the demand for scientists and engineers a major issue for competitiveness and economic and social development of any country. To understand and analyze the universe of high school students, in this context, questionnaires were applied in five research situations, whose target audience were young pre-university students, involved or not in science fair activities, and in another situation with teachers. Based on this research data, , young people had positive attitudes and perceptions towards engineering and engineers, regardless of gender, age, type of school and type of high school course attended. However, students involved with the development of research projects and participation in science fairs showed more positive attitudes and more self-confidence than those not involved. The intention of studying engineering was high in all research situations, particularly in the areas of civil and electrical engineering. Furthermore, both youth and teachers recognized in the activities related to the development of research projects and participation in science fair, opportunities to develop skills and competencies necessary for professional success in a globalized world. This research was conducted to understand and analyze the universe of secondary education students related to engineering and engineers with the intention to support future actions on increasing the number of future engineers and to predict their persistence in the area. Moreover, it is expected that results of this research may also contribute to and support the development of governmental programs and proposals for high school curricula changes in in order to meet the needs of awakening, developing and enhancing new XXI century skills and competencies.

Studentrekrytering : det bortglömda kapitlet inom eventkommunikation / Student recruitment : the forgotten chapter within student recruitment

Pettersson, Daniel, Rosenberg, Anni January 2009 (has links)

Student recruitment is a subject that seems to be forgotten in the theory of event communication. Yet the area has some specific reoccurring features. Our purpose was to examine these specific features and how to work with these in the best way, and also see how to get the most out of the event communication to the young at event and fairs. Special features we have looked at are the student ambassadors ands their impact, the meaning of a give-away and also if there are any essential factors to get in contact with the young at fairs and events, and if new technology had an important role to play in the area.

Our research has been inductive, and therefore, we have created our own theory and reflected it to the larger topic of event communication and its theories. Our research method has been triangular, both quantitative and qualitative; interviews with those who work with student recruitment, and surveys to young people in upper secondary school.

Our study showed the importance of student ambassadors and their specific task to be nice, friendly and outgoing. In comparison, the give-away isn't as important. It mainly has a remembering function and can also make interaction easier. We also found that different events are needed to fill different requirements, meanings and purposes. Information is also important; both to create awareness about the events and fairs, but also information at the event and fairs. This information should first and foremost be through a course catalogue, but also information about the school and the life as a student is important. Regarding to new technology it has a secondary meaning, and shouldn't be over-emphasized.
