Srovnání pneumatologie pravoslaví a evangelikálních církví / The comparison of the pneumatology of orthodox and evangelical churches

MARATOVÁ, Michaela January 2016 (has links)
The subject of this diploma thesis is comparison of Orthodox and Evangelical churches pneumatology. The main goal is to summarize, compare and evaluate the knowledge acquired from studying various texts from both Orthodox and Evangelical theologians. The first part of the diploma thesis is addressing significant theological topics from the Orthodox Church. The second part focuses on Evangelical pneumatology with special attention to its charismatic and Pentecostal character. A substantial part of this section is devoted to terminologically defining evangelicalism in its historical context. At the same time an attempt was made to capture the breadth and diversity of this modern phenomenon. The starting point that was chosen for the thesis were the works of various Pentecostal and charismatic authors whose main viewpoints are being compared in key points with those of traditional, conservative theologians. The third and at the same time the last part evaluates the acquired knowledge and accentuates the similarities and differences.

Zbožné dary v českém středověku / The Pious Gifts in the Czech Middle Ages

Vašek, Zdeněk January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the gifts of Czech and Moravian nobility to the church during the High Middle Ages. The pious gifts (Donations) are fundamental for the understanding of medieval devotion and for some aspects of medieval society. In the Middle Ages, the last wills and testaments expressed people's wishes, attitudes and intentions with respect both to these worldly and other matters. They express attitudes to other family members, to property, to life and death, to community and social groups, to the Church, to Saints and to God. The pious donations, support for the poor and the burial near Saints open up the gates to Heaven. But the pious donations are not only a part of one's care for the soul and redemption in the Middle Ages. The donations have complicated background. These gifts expressed religious, economic, political and representative intentions of the donors. The Pious gifts are a good tool for research of this part of society. The main aim of thesis is to describe the pious gifts given by the Czech and Moravian nobility from 1200 till mid-14th century. The Thesis based on the analysis of individual donations describes the spectrum of motivation for these gifts and also to describe the function which gifts had in society. Analysis allowed periodizes donation activity of the nobility. With the...

The movement of gift: owning, giving and sharing in religious perspective

Lind, Timothy Christian 05 1900 (has links)
The theme of gift has in recent years been subject to considerable commentary in diverse disciplines including philosophy, anthropology, sociology, religious studies and literary criticism. The vast majority of these studies focus on how or whether gift can be differentiated from exchange. In this dissertation I maintain that gift is a form of giving and receiving that is distinct from exchange or commerce, and that it need not create an obligation to return or reciprocate. This gift is given unilaterally to the need of the other and results in relatedness rather than indebtedness. This essay considers the characteristics of exchange and of gift, then reviews the thought of five writers on giving/receiving and reciprocation. This is followed by an overview of the gift theme in African Traditional Religion and the Judaic and Christian traditions, and a concluding chapter summarising thoughts on gift and self-interest, sharing, need, and gratitude. / Religious Studies and Arabic / M.A.(Religious Studies)

A biblical-theological study of the New Testament church as God's designed agent and setting for the ministry of mutual Christian care

Jones, Robert David 06 1900 (has links)
The New Testament writings provide abundant information about the mutual care ministries of church members toward one another. These ministries cover the New Testament landscape, with various examples and commands in both the narratives in Acts and the prescriptive one-another passages in the epistles. Sadly, standard systematic theology manuals give little treatment to this major New Testament theme. Many say little about any form of church ministry, fewer address ministries to members, and fewer still address member-to-member ministries, mentioning only the work of elders and deacons. Chapter one overviews the New Testament evidence and summarizes the deficiencies among systematic theologians. It provides justification for my thesis, namely, that the New Testament presents the church as God’s designed agent and setting for the ministry of mutual Christian care Chapter two explores four ways the New Testament uses the term church: household church, citywide church, regional church, and universal church. We focus on the first two, with the stress on local churches meeting in homes as the normal setting for shared life and mutual ministry. Moreover, the pictures of the church as Christ’s body, God’s family, and God’s new priesthood encouraged members to serve their Christian brothers and sisters. Chapter three demonstrates that the ultimate foundation of all New Testament one-another ministry is found in the salvation work of the triune God. God, Christ, and his Spirit provide models and motives for church members, as recipients of his redemptive grace, to minister to each other. God’s love in Christ, Christ’s self-sacrificial death on the cross, and the Spirit’s relational graces (e.g., the “fruit” of the Spirit) and ministry gifts guide and empower church members to care for each other. Chapter four examines seventeen varied ways that the New Testament describes and prescribes these practical ministries of mutual care, organizing them under three headings—attitudes, actions, and words. These seventeen ministry categories show the wide range of ways in which the New Testament called church members to care for the physical and spiritual needs of fellow members. Chapter five provides a brief conclusion with five summary lessons and some suggestions for further study. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D.Th. (Systematic Theology)

This ministry emerged from the cearense religious centenary starting in 1999, first of a divine revelation of leigman affirming that father Jecér Góes Ferreira was the grate leader chosen to constitute a new denomination within the Brazilian religious field. The grate concept desired by this new confessional denomination follower lies in its capacity to combine metaphysical elements of Christian’s theology with ordinary questions of these gentiles, which generates an extraordinary capacity to incorporate the ontological socialization mechanisms dispensed by the institution. Through the “Canaã theology” one can observe the real importance to the loyal followers of the moral aspects which is capable of certifying an aseptic conduct, sustained by the faith manifested in an absurd and unrecognizable divine power, the characteristic of doctrine is identified as being most important sense for these people’s lives would reside in the non conformism with wordy ways, from where one would reach the necessity to set forth a march towards the desired salvation for the description and analyses of the phenomenon studied here, I used categories taken from the common sense, used by “cananenses” in their process of community interaction which is built inter subjectively. It was possible to reach way the specific usage forms of these native categories, inducted into the community through the chirurgical work done by this church, to perform its efficient power over these followers through the reinforcement of ideas and values that era common un its members, and at the same time, showing the sententious and rewards that could be reach if determined believers which are elective, are adopted when referred to aspects related to the individual search of salvation. A trajetória do "pardo" Antonio Ferreira Cesarino (1808-1892) e o trânsito das mercês / The life trajectory of the "brown" Antonio Ferreira Cesarino (1808-1892) and the exchange of gifts

The here presented work constitutes a historical narrative constructed around the life trajectory of Antonio Ferreira Cesarino (1808-1892). The aim was to present the itinerary of this man, noting the historical period and the contexts in which he lived. Moving in racially hierarchical society which had logical racial contextual, Cesarino, a black man, was classified as "pardo" (brown). In a dialectical view, I will suggest that an identification as pardo was attributed in intersection with his social conditions well as his particular social action. In parallel, I argue that the designation pardo, operating as oppositional mode, was a diacritical signal used to demonstrate the difference. For Cesarino, reaching the expressive social and professional performance and a high level of prestige was only possible, given specific social conditions, his own actions, as well as the practise and exchange of "mercês". As result of my research, I assume that the practise of mercês or its exchange can be understood as borrowings, donations, favors, efforts, altogether, as the useful and profitable practices that are bound together by the capacities of giving, receiving and returning. In terms of spacial scenary, my work choses a rather flexibel focus for analysis, switching from Vila do Paracatu do Príncipe, in the northeast of Minas Gerais to Vila São Carlos, a place later to become the city of Campinas, a country town of São Paulo state. The discussion is situated between the first decades of the 19th and the first years of the 20th century. Narrative and analysis about the life trajectory of Cesarino brings several pertinent aspects of his biography leading to a deeper understanding of this man?s relationship to the society he lived in and opportunities avaiable in that context / Doutorado / Antropologia Social / Doutor em Antropologia Social

L'art urbain du Caire mamlouk : manières de faire et enjeux sociaux / Urban Art of Mamlouk Cairo : Methods of Making and Social Aspects

Abdel Barr, Omniya 07 February 2015 (has links)
This thesis uncovers how monuments were built in Mamlouk Cairo. The chain of events starts with; sultans and emirs, their wives and concubines, slaves and eunuchs and civilian elites, who sponsor the buildings. The designers of such monumental architecture were not usually given credit and hence not mentioned in most historical documents. While researching the design of the monuments, we discovered a number of tools used in the design phase. The study of the land acquisition, shed light on the importance of the geographical location within the urban fabric, which revealed the economic and legal complications involved. Then we tackle the question of the responsibility on the construction site. At the top of the hierarchy there is the ?ādd al-'amā'ir, who represents the sponsor on the site, followed by the Nāẓir, which can sometimes replace the ?ādd. Then the Muhandis, a technical assistant, usually working in a team and who implements the design. We analyze the chain of operations from the top of the hierarchy down to the artisans, workers and unskilled labor. The analysis included a study of the division of labor and the details of the different crafts used in the site construction and in workshops. Studying all the site workers revealed the different economic standards and the diversity of the population in Cairo. Finally, we trace the history of the making of the monument in this period and are able to draw a full detailed picture of the timeline of a Mamlouk monument from inception to inauguration.

Reliques et espaces urbains : Lyon, Metz Rouen et Toulouse, des réformes à la Restauration / Relics and urban territories : Lyon, Metz, Rouen and Toulouse, from Reformation until Restauration

Guyard, Nicolas 06 December 2017 (has links)
During the Late Medieval Period, relics are a very common object in the Christian World and in urban churches. Protestant criticisms and destructions during the 16th century were a first crisis ended by a catholic reinvestment. These disruptions transformed relics into a more rational object, with systematic inventories and new localisations inside churches. Until French Revolution, churches of Lyon, Metz, Rouen and Toulouse received countless relics, mostly from Rome, to support the foundation of new urban convents. Laymen and clerics gave relics to improve their social and religious status. Ceremonies of translation showed a Catholicism that had triumphed again. Some relics got an identity and heritage value. They became the protectors of the city with a specific relationship between citizens and the Divine world. These relics are often used during urban crises like epidemics, natural disasters and political crisis. The History of the towns also used relics as evidence and illustration of urban Sanctity. These links became slack during the 18th century because of historical and philosophical criticisms. French Revolution confirmed this evolution, despite attempts of sacral remediation. From Christian objects, relics became confessional objects and from the beginning of the 19th century onwards, militant objects.

Bouzigues, Benoit 05 1900 (has links)
The main purpose of this text is to study the practices, the issues and the modalities of the animal diplomatic gift in the 13th century, especially during the reign of Frederick II, Henry III and Louis IX. The analysis is based on the presentation of the sociological and anthropological conceptualizations of the gift, particularly those of Marcel Mauss. They are used to understand the peculiarities of the animal diplomatic gift in the 13th century. Then, a research on animal descriptions of medieval bestiaries and encyclopedias is conducted to show the symbolic power and the physical and behavioral characteristics of the offered wildlife. Finally, several modalities of the donation are developed, such as the selection criteria and the wildlife preferences of the kings, the context and rules of the elaboration of a present and the movement of given animals. In addition, it is shown how the beasts and birds had a real use for the kings. Indeed, they staged their animals in order to appropriate their symbolism and show off their prestige and their greatness, at events or in the menageries.
