Våldsutsatta kvinnor : En global litteraturstudie om sjuköterskans bemötande ur ett sjuksköterskeperspektiv / Abused women : A global literature review of nurse's encounters from a nursing perspective

Mbenga, Mam-Anna January 2011 (has links)
Bakground: Violence against women is the most common type of violence and occurs worldwide. Each year tens of thousands reports cases of violence against women over 18 years and an average of 16 women are killed each year due to violence in Sweden. Many abused women who visit health care facilites is experiencing an inadequate response and it may therefore be important to make nurses more aware of how abused women can be countered. Purpose: The purpose of this literature was to describe nurses' encounters to abused women in hospitals from a global perspective. Mehtod: The study was conducted as an general literaturereview study and was based on eleven empirical articles in the area of violence against women from a global perspective. Results: Nurses felt fear and unfamiliarity of encounthers with abused women, which resulted in nurses avoided to ask questions about domestic violence. The majority of the studies showed that the nurses wanted more knowledge and education on women victims of violence could be addressed in health care. Several studies showed that violence against women was socially acceptable in some countries and that many nurses felt that women should not disclose violence to health care providers or authorities, but to keep it in the family. Discussion: Nurses lacking encounte may be because nurses have not received education on violence against women during their training or in the workplace. Violence against women can be socially accepted in many countries and therefore it is essential that Swedish nurses become more aware of cultural aspects that could be behind the violence in order to better manage these patients. Conclusion: There is a great lack of knowledge in the field of violence against women, especially in the cultural aspects behind it and there is a need for more education and research to improve the encounters towards these womens.

Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av arbetsrelaterad stress : Ett globalt perspektiv / Nurses´experiences of work-related stress : A global perspective

Backberg, Caroline, Löfberg, Linn January 2017 (has links)
Nyckelord: Arbetsrelaterad stress, sjuksköterskor, arbetsmiljö, upplevelse, globalt perspektiv / Aim: To describe nurses' experience of work-related stress in the healthcare sector. Method: This study is a descriptive general literature study based on five qualitative articles as well as seven quantitative articles. The search included articles between the years 20052017. Result: The analysis showed three main categories: High workload and shortage of staff, Inadequate opportunities to influence the work situation and Emotional work - a stress factor. The results showed that factors such as high workload, shortage of staff, interpersonal issues, unavailability of physicians, insufficient feedback from managers, and work with dying patients, were the reasons leading to the highest level of stress. Conclusions: Work-related stress does not only affect staff in the healthcare sector. Stress also occurs in occupations where the work is characterized by emotionally demanding situations and events. Work-related stress in nurses is a global phenomenon, which may be due to several reasons. The most prominent causes of stress have been shown to be high workload, shortage of staff, emotional work and personal conflicts. Unless stress is addressed, nurse's ability to provide good and patient-safe care can be compromised. It is therefore important that interprofessional cooperation and procedures work in the workplace, and that the employer detects and prevents stress. Proposals for continued research: During the article search, the authors responded to the fact that there were too few qualitative studies on the subject, as requested. Studies how the patient experiences the work-related stress would be of interest. More studies are being asked about differences and similarities between men and women's experience of work-related stress. Hopefully this study will contribute to increased knowledge and understanding of the triggering causes of work-related stress. Keywords: Work-related stress, nurses, work environment, experience, global perspective

Impacts of foreign retail entry on the host country : the Canadian apparel industry

Evans, Elizabeth January 2012 (has links)
By the later decades of the twentieth century, retail internationalization was no longer the activity of a few multi-national retailers; revising the traditional view of retailing as a national business and the need to understand the process of internationalization. Academic research enriched the understanding of this activity, moving away from the early use of surveys to delve into the specific processes of the retailers in order to properly analyze foreign expansion activity. Initial research focused on the perspective of the firm, contributing to knowledge of the why, where, and how of the internationalization process. As this research expanded its scope, it became necessary for researchers to explore when internationalization occurs and to document what was the impact of internationalization on the host country. This call for research was made by Dawson (2003), who proposed a framework for the study of foreign impact on the domestic retailers of a host country. This study utilizes the Dawson model to measure, analyze, and explain the when and what of the retail internationalization process. In recognition of the complexity of the retail internationalization process, it was determined that the study would focus on one type of impact: changes in sectoral competitiveness. It was also determined that this study should be undertaken in a market and retail sector where substantial foreign entry had occurred and could potentially be measured, analyzed and explained. Therefore, the study is undertaken in the Canadian apparel sector between 1989 and 2007. The study was conducted as a mixed method research in two stages: an empirical study of market data and an interview study of industry experts. Since retail functions at the local level, the shopping centre was used as a microcosm of the market and provided empirical evidence to measure impacts in a temporal sense and by intensity. The interviews with industry experts were used to collaborate and explain the mall data, providing important first-hand context to explain the retail internationalization process. This study contributes to the validation of the Dawson model as a tool to measure and explain the impacts of foreign entry on a host country’s sectoral competitiveness, and through its methodology will provide the necessary modifications to the model for continued study of the retail internationalization process.

Undergraduate Students’ Perceptions of Study Abroad and Their Level of Achievement of Global Learning Outcomes

Grigorescu, Claudia 18 March 2015 (has links)
This study expanded on current research on study abroad and global learning, using the Global Perspective Inventory (GPI), and conducted at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, FL. The GPI assesses the holistic development of a global perspective in higher education within three domains and their respective FIU-determined equivalents: cognitive (global awareness), intrapersonal (global perspective), and interpersonal (global engagement). The main purpose of this study was to assess FIU’s undergraduate students’ perceptions of study abroad on their level of achievement of global awareness, global perspective, and global engagement. The secondary purpose was to determine how the students described their study abroad experience and achievement of global learning. The research design for this study consisted of parallel mixed methods. The quantitative component was an ex post facto with hypothesis design, using a pretest/posttest nonequivalent group methodology. FIU undergraduates (N=147) who studied abroad for one semester or more completed the GPI pre- and post-tests. Descriptive statistics and paired t-tests were conducted to compare the means. The interviews included 10 students, and were analyzed through Structural coding, Saldaña’s In Vivo coding, and Value coding. Quantitative analyses indicated positive changes in the students’ global awareness and global perspective. These analyses also showed that the FIU students achieved higher post-test means on all the domains of the GPI compared to other studies. Qualitative analyses showed that the students’ experiences incorporated all three global learning outcomes, most notably global awareness and perspective.

Hur en global organisation behåller sitt arbetsgivarvarumärke : En kvalitativ studie om geografiska anpassningar inom en global organisation i den föränderliga omvärlden / How a global organization maintain its Employer Brand : A qualitative study of geographical adaptations within a global organization in the changing world

Berholt, Johannes, Eriksson, Johanna January 2022 (has links)
Background: An organizational challenge for global organizations is the work with their employer brand when they are globally widespread and need to adapt to different geographically dispersed markets. The challenge falls within the area of business administration and it is usually the organization's HR that bears the responsibility for the challenge. Due to the rapidly changing world that we live in, and due to how the separate markets differ in terms of cultures, laws or digitalized societies, global organizations face challenges in maintaining their employer brand in all its markets simultaneously.  Purpose: To explain how a global organization can work to maintain its employer brand despite its different geographical markets.  Method: The study has a hermeneutic perspective and an inductive approach, which means that the study was not based on existing theories. To explain how a global organization can work to maintain its employer brand despite different geographical markets, a qualitative case study has been conducted, built with ten informants that are working with a global organization's employer brand. The study has implemented qualitative semi-structured interviews with the informants to gather empirical data about the chosen organization. A thematic survey was launched to map the collected empirical data on the organization's work with its employer brand.  Conclusions: The study's conclusions describe what initiatives a global organization can take to maintain its employer brand. These initiatives form the basis of the study's theoretical contribution, which illustrates building blocks for a global organization to be able to maintain its employer brand. The study draws conclusions that presents new perspectives on how a global organization can cope with the challenge of a volatile and geographically dispersed world.

Kvinnors upplevelser av medicinsk- eller kirurgisk abort ur ett globalt perspektiv : En kvalitativ metasyntes / Womens experiences of medical- or surgical abortion in a global perspective. : A qualitative metasyntesis

Stenborg, Jeanette, Sundberg, Elin January 2020 (has links)
Background: Termination of pregnancy is when a fetus is removed from the uterus before pregnancy week 22, spontaneously or through induction. An induced abortion can be performed either medical or surgical. In a global perspective, each year around 56 million abortions are performed. The role of the Midwife in abortion care is to support the woman aiming to offer equal and equitable care based on proven experience and with a social-, economical- and cultural perspective. The professional skills of the midwife is developing through knowledge and experience. Objective: The aim of the study was to identify womens experiences of medical- or surgical abortion in a global perspective. Method: The study was conducted as a qualitative metasynthesis. Fifteen (15) scientific articles were included in the result. Result: Four main categories were identified inaccessibility and consequences for the woman, economical factors, stigma and autonomy. The result shows that the women experience that restrictive legislations makes women anxious and instill feelings of desperation. Many women are considering unsafe alternatives when safe abortion care isn’t accessible. The abortion had negative financial consequences for the women. To decide about their own body and having a feeling of control was an important part in the decision of abortion for the woman. Conclusion: Lack of financial assets and stigma means that many women seek unsafe abortion options. The individual woman should be able to make decisions concerning her own body and decide for herself when she wants to have children, which means that access to safe abortion care must increase. Clinical applicability: The study can be used to provide increased knowledge about womens experiences which can lead to a more accessible abortion care for women in a global perspective.
