The delicate balance of Internet banking and bricks and mortar offices : a study on bank services offered in Visby

Ali, Yasir January 2010 (has links)
Internet banking has an impact on banking performance as well as customer’s daily life. Customers are getting more used to use Internet banking services because the Internet is so popular and common available, it is more convenient and comfortable for customers to use banking services on the Internet. Hereby Internet banking also helps to improve banking service and increasing banks profitability by reducing costs. It also increases the overall value of the banks services by providing convenience, reliable, faster, cheaper services. The purpose of study is to find out which services customer prefers to execute the Internet bank and which services customers prefer to execute through branch office and based on this, what combination of services are desirable for banks customers in Visby. Finding shows that young and educated people are more frequently users of Internet banking for balance inquiry and for viewing the transaction history of his/her account. For some services customers prefer to visit branch office when opining a new account, deposit money, insurances service and loan activities. Banks encourage their customers to use online services but there is need that there are some activities that customer must go to the branch office.

Signs and symbols represented in Germanic, particularly Scandinavian, iconography between the Migration Period and the end of the Viking Age.

Hupfauf, Peter Rudolf Martin January 2003 (has links)
This research focuses on the analysis of pictorial images from objects of Germanic/early Scandinavian cultures in order to discriminate elements which are only applied for decorative reasons from those which also express symbolic values. At the outset I introduced an interpretation of the terms signs and symbols in order to inform the reader to which extent these terms were applied. It appeared that techniques, such as the geographical and chronological classification, traditionally used by archaeologists and historians to analyse objects/artefacts, were not always sufficient enough to gain all information which images may offer. Sometimes it seems to be difficult to determine if certain images shown on objects from early mediaeval, central and northern European origin, were created as a space-filling decoration only or if they held additional, probably symbolic, information as well. I have investigated aspects from visual perception, as applied within the domains of psychology, visual art and design. The methods, as they are introduced in this thesis, can be used as a identification scheme, applied on objects of great diversity. I have applied them on guldgubber (little embossed gold foils), bracteates and Gotland picture-stones. Objects of great historical and geographic difference, as well as physical diversity, such as size and material were chosen purposely to create an overview of the symbolic expressions in Germanic/early Scandinavian artefacts and to test the extent of the identification method derived from the domain of visual perception. A detailed analysis of sixty four guldgubber, found in Lundeborg, near Gudme, on the island of Fyn (Denmark), is placed in an appendix. An analysis of these objects appeared to be particularly interesting because it is not known what the purpose of guldgubber were to the present day.

Ludvig, Svedjer January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine the second-home owners of three peripheral parts of Gotland; Fårö, Östergarnslandet and Storsudret. Who they are, what consequences their presence give the local society and if they have contributed to a process of gentrification. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have been used to answer the research questions. There have been five semi-structured interviews and the quantitative research was a sample- study intended to show the age, income, and primary residence of the second-home owners. The results showed that the second-home tourism of peripheral Gotland has led to a set of consequences; the creation of a seasonal society, a decrease in local taxes and loss of municipal services. There is however uncertainty that the houses would be inhabited by year-round residents if the second-home owners were not living there. The second-home owners are elderly people, many in retirement age. They have high incomes and most of them have their primary residence in metropolitan Stockholm. Many of them are willing to help with local projects and use their knowledge from their professions and are seen as a resource by the interviewees. There are indications that gentrification have indeed happened in the areas when looking at income-levels, but more research variables need studying, such as levels of education and housing prices.

Fransson, Lina January 2015 (has links)
This study aims to get a better understanding of the oviposition-behaviour of the butterfly Marsh Fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia), in the area Bälsalvret on the Island of Gotland. The study may provide helpful information to aid the conservation of the species in the area and also provide overall knowledge about the female’s preferences when it comes to choosing microhabitat and host plant for their eggs. The analysis of the microhabitat preference for oviposition by the Marsh Fritillary showed that eggs were predominantly laid on large-sized host plant individuals with a warmer microclimate; with a preference for the rosette diameter, the length and the width of the leaf and the number of Succisa pratensis individuals in the vicinity. This indicates that the female’s priority is to place the eggs at the most optimal place for their offspring’s survival and growth.

Wild or tame? : A case-study of the function of the fox from the Pitted-ware locale of Ajvide.

Randér, Gustav January 2020 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the animal bones deriving from foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and dogs (Canis familiaris) found in the Pitted Ware Culture site of Ajvide, located in the Eksta parish on Gotland, Sweden. The multiple excavations of this site have uncovered large amounts of osteological material, of which animal bones make up about 2500kg. The aim of this case study is to unveil the purpose and function of foxes on Ajvide, while also comparing them with the previously known dogs. Additionally, the relation between man and fox is also a point of interpretation. The osteological analysis has determined foxes and dogs are distributed decently evenly, the dog being a bit more common. The spatial analysis determined that both fox- and dog bones were most common in the activity areas called “black areas”. The analysis has determined that the foxes skulked around the locale, scavenging for slaughter waste from the human slaughter of seals and fish. It has also been theorized how the foxes of Ajvide did not possess a ritualistic significance to the peoples of Ajvide.

Naturum Ojnare : Från utblick till insikt / Ojnare Visitor Center : From lookout to insight

Oldén, Ellen January 2013 (has links)
This master thesis explores architecture as a means to enhance the experience of nature. It investigates how a building can serve as an educational tool that through knowledge and facilities inspire visitors to discover more of the environment. The study of spatial relations, materiality and visual connections results in a vertical movement through a 28 meter high visitor centre, that overviews the surrounding nature and its different habitat types. In addition to the exhibitions in the visitor centre, pavilions are placed in each habitat, functioning as outpost with information and specific activities connected to them. The six outposts are visible from the lookouts in the central tower and linked together as milestones on a hike through the area, where visitors are urged to explore nature on their own.The area on northern Gotland is one of the EPA:s proposed National parks, in which a mosaic of habitats interact and create a unique environment. The Visitor center is placed in the forest, in one of the two tests quarries dug here in planning of a large limestone quarry. The contrast between the ruptured ground and the old wild-wood give interesting conditions for the architecture and helps telling the story about the pending conflict between industrial exploitation and nature preservation.

Luttinen, Taru, Palmersjö, Clara January 2022 (has links)
This study aims to evaluate how an electrification of heavy vehicles can be realized in practice on Gotland to promote the development of renewable energy and gain an understanding of how the energy system should be developed. A case study has been carried out at Roma Grus, a haulage company who has used an electric truck within their business as a part of a pilot project led by Ecoloop AB. The case study includes an evaluation of the pilot project and also a comparison between diesel and electric trucks based on the haulier's transports. The results show that the vehicle in the pilot project is difficult to apply to Roma Grus since it is not adapted for the business's long, irregular and high-consumption routes. Both higher battery capacity and charging power and an increased charging infrastructure are required. An electrification of the haulier’s transports would lead to higher investment costs but cheaper fuel costs and significantly lower emissions. This study also examines a full-scale electrification of Gotland's heavy diesel vehicles by investigating the impact on the energy system and greenhouse gas emissions. The results show that the energy demand from electric trucks would at most correspond to two percent of the current annual electricity consumption on Gotland. Regarding power consumption, fast charging of the vehicles will be a challenge due to lack of capacity in the electricity grid. However, if a full-scale electrification of heavy transport were to take place, the emissions could significantly reduce.

Carlström, Frida January 2022 (has links)

: Gotlandsgården i Roma / The Rural Revenge : In an "ebb and flow" landscape

Britse, Katarina January 2014 (has links)
Gotland is famous around the world for its unique nature. The agriculture here has always been an important source of income and part of the identity of the island. But today the profession has low status and hard to survive. How can the interest for farming be increased? Gotlandsgården is an investigation about how the agriculture could develop. It strives to re-establish the status of the farmer profession and to become the node for the Gotland's farmers, inhabitants and the tourists.  an investigation about how the agriculture could develop. It strives to re-establish the status of the farmer profession and to become the node for the Gotland's farmers, inhabitants and the tourists.
