Manoeuvre Coordination : Assuring safety in overtaking

Sakhnini, Qusay, Suleiman, Mohammad January 2023 (has links)
The frightful statistics regarding road accidents draws a dreadful picture for individuals, communities, and nations across the globe. The number of fatalities exceeds a million every year. To address this issue, an initiative called Vision Zero was introduced first in Sweden 1997. The goal is to reach zero road fatalities and severe injuries by 2045. However, to achieve this goal, Vision Zero is being divided in 4 categories, called Days. Day 4 represents fully automated, cooperative, and connected mobility (CCAM). Now, one of the typical cases that causes road accidents is overtaking. CCAM is a way to enhance safety in such cases. Therefore, this thesis proposes a system that is based on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication where vehicles exchange their intentions and cooperatively perform overtaking manoeuvres. The prevalent approach nowadays is depending on the vehicles’ onboard sensors only, blocking it from having knowledge about the intentions of other actors. Thus, it prevents vehicles from cooperation and coordination. We evaluate the performance of our approach and compare it against the sensors only approach. We show that the proposed approach outperforms the prevalent one in performance. Therefore, vehicle communication must be considered in the upcoming mobility for higher accuracy and safety.

Sjöstrand-Ahlén, Nina January 2021 (has links)
This study aims to shed light on the meaning of parental ability and lack of care in LVU-verdicts concerning women who have returned from IS. The material consists of the judgements of the administrative courts and the results analyzes both the court´s assessments and the women´s opinons in order to make visable how parental ability and lack of care are constructed. Both theory and method are based on Laclau & Mouffe´s discourse theory. The results show that the concepts of parental ability and lack of care are given meaning based on a special focus on women´s agency, which further shows how a security policy discourse is expressed in the judgements. Within this discourse, women´s own driving forces and ideological convictions are considered central to how parental ability and lack of care are constructed. Perceptions of women´s agency in terrorist organizations and in motherhood also fill the concepts with meaning based on normative constructions of gender. Finally, the analysis shows how women´s subject positions are constructed according to the victim/perpetrator dichotomy - which further demonstrates how parental ability is assessed based on a special focus on agency within the framework of a security policy discourse.

Total Quality Management Approach To The Information Systems Development Processes: An Empirical Study

Ho, Phu Van 21 July 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation is to study the application of Total Quality Management (TQM) in the Information Systems (IS) development processes. The study describes and evaluates TQM concepts and techniques in the IS development processes and interprets sub-organizational elements in the application of TQM in the public sector. This dissertation uses a multiple case study methodology to study the development processes of IS in three public agencies. This study attempts to examine what quality means across these public organizations and to discover the differences between IS development methodologies that do or do not apply TQM concepts and techniques. The late Dr. W. Edwards Deming, regarded as "father" of post war Japanese economic miracle as well as leading advocate of the TQM movement in the United States, developed a systematic approach to solving quality related problems which aims to fulfill customer expectations. His system of management is adopted as the theoretical basis to this dissertation. The "lessons learned" from these case studies, empirically and in literature, reveal multiple experiences of TQM applications to IS development processes in the public sector. / Ph. D.

Oscarson, Per January 2001 (has links)

The implications of organizational context for Information Systems and Technology strategy formulation. A study of socio-political factors in global corporations.

Vaidya, Anil Vishnu January 2010 (has links)
Information systems and technology strategy has been discussed by many researchers and authors over last three decades. The concepts of business alignment, competitive advantage, value generation etc. have been elaborated and still similar discussions continue. While the advances in IS/IT strategy formulation were being made, the businesses were changing their operating models. More specifically they became global businesses active in multiple geographies at the same time. This research aims to provide deeper understanding of IT developments in global organizations as manifested in the changing social and political environment of the organization and the reciprocal effect of social and political changes on IT strategies. Further it aims to investigate whether the relevant theories and concepts can be integrated to develop a new model that can incorporate the socio-political aspects into IS/IT strategy formulation. To achieve this objective the literature survey was conducted to explore available published papers in the sphere of IS/IT strategy formulation. Considering that the applicability of information systems and technology falls into the sphere of social sciences, the research design focused on the qualitative approach. The primary method of data collection was through semi-structured interviews with IT managers. This was complemented by interviews with business managers and consultants. Further the experiences of the researcher in the earlier role of practitioner were taken into account. Using grounded theory approach the information collected through interviews, own experiences and the data gathered from literature survey were used to develop a new model of IT strategy formulation. The model addresses the context part of IT strategy formulation process. This model development is aimed to counter and account for the political and social aspects of strategy development and deployment in global corporations characterised by diversity of cultures, attitudes and behaviours.

Varför sjunker körer? : Intonationsfällor som uppstår vid användning av renintonation

Alexis Hallgren, Anton January 2023 (has links)
There Is An Old Belief (ur Songs of Farewell) - Hubert Parry (1848-1918)

Love Bade Me Welcome - Judith Weir (1954-)

Gloria (ur Missa Brevis) - Anton Alexis Hallgren (1999-)

Ensemble - KMH Vokalensemble:

Sopran: Sofia Niklasson, Emma Fagerström, Linnéa Bergstam

Altar: Christiane Højlund, Tove Nilsson, Elias Aaron Johansson

Tenorer: Love Tronner, Martin Åsander, Szymon Rudzki

Basar: Adam Jondelius, Ove Pettersson, André Hasselgren

Dirigent: Anton Alexis Hallgren

New business processes and information management : A case study about application of a new IT-support within an IT-reliant work system in a manufacturing unit

Ragnarson, David, Petersén, Sara January 2022 (has links)
In today's changing world, the manufacturing industry faces challenges with digital transformation. The application of new, developed IT-support is used to change business processes and is a central part of today's business development. Digitization has an extensive role and is used to streamline, optimize, and increase productivity in manufacturing. Today, data and analysis can be used to make fact-based decisions where measurement data from manufacturing units can be visualized in real time. Digitization therefore needs to be handled by all industries, not least for the process industry, which has fallen behind in the digital era. Changing business processes in production units using digital strategies can generate increased profitability and productivity. On the other hand, applying IT support requires that businesses need to organize and structure the changes in line with the business processes and manage the information flows that are continuously generated. The study has been carried out with a qualitative research strategy and as a case. The studied case consists of a company within the Swedish process industry that operates globally. The study's empiricism is based on 11 semi-structured interviews on the strategic, tactical, and operational level of the business and the respondents were selected with a snowball sample. The result identifies factors that are considered important for the implementation of changes in an IT-reliant work system. The factors identified are competence provision, communication, participation and the participants' motivation and commitment. Thus, the study has found some aspects where businesses need to consider this at a strategic, tactical, and operational level.
