No. of bitstreams: 1 Francisca Monica Rodrigues de Lima.pdf: 6720045 bytes, checksum: e908884e1f1b2405662e84c07d25ad9e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-03-29 / The present study has the purpose of studying the discursive strategies present in the cooperation agreements between the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony (UNILAB) and Portuguese and African institutions with the objective of identifying the voices and counter-voices that emerge from discourse University. This institution, created by law no. 12,289, of July 20, 2010, and installed on May 25, 2011, promotes the internalization of higher education in order to integrate Brazil and the member countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP): Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe, Brazil, Portugal and Timor-Leste (Asia). Since the formation and integration of the student is one of the purposes of this university, it has teaching and student bodies coming not only from various regions of Brazil, but also from other countries, besides the establishment and execution of temporary or permanent agreements with other institutions of the CPLP, local development with the cultural, scientific and educational exchange of the region. Lusophony is based on the Portuguese language common to all countries that integrate the UNILAB proposal and involves social, economic and geopolitical issues for the countries that make up the UNILAB proposal. The question that guided the research was: To what extent do the agreements between Portuguese and African institutions and UNILAB be guided by a neocolonialist ideology of integration between Brazil and the member countries of the CPLP? In this sense, our dissertation has as specific objectives: to identify and analyze the word cooperation, present in the agreements of study, and the construction of its senses from a determined context in the elaboration of discursive strategies that reveal aspects of colonization and coloniality within the scope of internationalization. The hypotheses raised were: The integration proposal, present in the agreements between Portuguese and African institutions and UNILAB, is a discursive strategy of maintaining a neocolonialist ideology; Cooperation and integration are discursive strategies of building a multicultural space for the maintenance of a neocolonialist ideology. The theorists who founded the analysis of the agreements were Mikhail Bakhtin, Aníbal Quijano and Walter Mignolo. Integrando banco de dados relacional e orientado a grafos para otimizar consultas com alto grau de indireção / Integrating relational and graph-oriented database to optimize queries with high degree of indirection

Marino Hilario Catarino 10 November 2017 (has links)
An important indicator in the academic area is related to the degree of impact of a publication that can help in evaluating the quality and degree of internationalization in academic institutions. One approach to better understand the aforementioned indicator is analyzing the collaboration network formed by each researcher. In order to analyze this network, several alternatives use the well known relational data model which is predominant in most databases used today. Even though this model is widely used, it has a performance drawback when some types of queries are performed. For overcoming this drawback, certain alternatives are using a graph-oriented database model which is similar to a collaboration network model. However, it is unclear what parameters can be used to define when to use a relational or graph-oriented model. In this work, we propose an analysis of queries that, from the syntax of a query and the execution environment, can point to the most suitable data model for the execution given a specific query. With this query analysis, it is possible to delimit in which scenarios an integration between the relational and the graph-oriented models is more appropriate.

Portero Taulet, Borja 01 October 2013 (has links)
Portero Taulet, B. The Influence of Country-of-Origin (COO)Effects in Startups from Emerging Economiesin their Internationalization Process : A case study of Brazil's market and startups / The Influence of Country-of-Origin (COO)Effects in Startups from Emerging Economiesin their Internationalization Process : A case study of Brazil's market and startups

Pestana Neto, João Pedro January 2020 (has links)
The Country-of-Origin (COO) is an important factor to be considered for startup firms in their international expansion and development. This exploratory study focuses on the influence and impacts of the COO on Born Global startups from emerging economies in their internationalization process. The research provides a general picture about the theories connected to the COO and its impacts, as well as the different contexts which are the basis for the COO construct, such as the historical, economic and international contexts. The study is based on three case companies from Brazil, founded around the year of 2010. Besides understanding the COO effects faced by Global Born firms in international markets, this study also analyzes how these companies deal with this matter when implementing their internationalization plans. Moreover, the study also assesses the Global Born firms’ internationalization path, as well as their main motivators and influential factors. The findings about the influence of COO affects in Born Global startups from emerging markets are displayed in two phases: (1) the initial stage, when consumers still have little knowledge and experience with the products or services offered by the startups, therefore relying more on first perceptions such as the COO, and (2) a secondary stage, in which the companies have already interacted in the international market, and the companies and their products and services are already known by the market in some extent. This study’s findings suggest that the COO affects the startups in the first moments of their internationalization process, however the COO influences decreases as the startups develop, interact and exploit the new markets. The findings are presented from both a within-case perspective and a cross-case perspective. Furthermore, discussion of the findings, implications and suggestions for further research are provided.

Internationalization of Higher Education : Understanding the International Students' Choice of a Swedish University and the Decision-Making Process

Thiru, Prisca, Denisova, Aleksandra January 2020 (has links)
As the growth of Internationalisation of Higher Education shifts from former dominant nations like USA, Canada, England and Australia to other nations in Europe and Asia such as Germany, Sweden, Japan and Singapore, this study seeks to understand the decision-making process of an International Student looking to study at a Swedish University. Borrowing from previous studies, the ‘push and pull factors’ are used as the main theoretical reference as well as in discussion of the findings. Specific factors special to Sweden and the European Union in general such as visa policies and tuition fees are also discussed. For empirical data, international students already undertaking various master’s programmes as well as former master’s students at the Swedish university answer an online questionnaire pertaining to: decision to study abroad, decision to study in Sweden and decision to study at the particular Swedish University. Moreover, empirical data includes an interview with a representative of the university under analysis. In-depth analyses of data using Standard Deviation (SD), calculation of p value, ANOVA and Tukey’s tests are also performed to give clear comparisons of the various data sets such as ‘programme specialisation’ and ‘home country’ and their influence on the decision-making process. Personal satisfaction and better career prospects are identified as the major ‘push factors’. Programme quality and requirements, Sweden’s quality of life and health of environment, safe place to study, and location in the European Union are identified as main ‘pull factors’. It is found out that the home country of international students has a huge influence on their decisions to study abroad/ in Sweden/ at a certain university, although specialization also has influence, it appears to be drastically less. The findings have important implications in helping aspiring students make informed decisions as they consider choice of country and university, as well as implications for Higher Education Institutions as they respond to the demands created by globalisation of higher education, and subsequently endeavour to attract more international students through marketing or curriculum development of their programmes.

Weigel, Romain 24 November 2016 (has links)
During our thesis we studied franchisors’ internationalization strategies in order to determine the optimum choice of organizational mode. These international developments cause new problems which existing literature does not provide satisfactory answers. In order to propose a new analysis, we choose to use a dynamic approach to international franchise systems. We focus our work on issues of competitive advantage development by foreign franchisors locations and we provide a framework based on the organizational capabilities perspective. A qualitative methodology enables us to define the competitive advantage of franchisor and questioned the implementation of this advantage into international operations. We seize the competitive advantage of franchisor with athematic analysis of franchisors practice. We identified three core capabilities. Subsequently, we analyzed international developments and highlighted the transfer of the core capabilities to the sub-franchisor. Then, our analytical framework allowed us to underline the importance of taking account of the competitive advantage in the process of choosing the organizational mode in order to understand the competitive advantage exploitation in the new market. From a dynamic perspective, we identified two levels of dynamism and we show the importance of understanding the determinants of the development of the second level to refine the knowledge of the achievement of international operation.
