In peoples hyperconnected lives, a price to pay is their internet privacy and the different risks it faces the second their browser connects to the web. One such risk comes from how web tracking collect and analyze users information. This paper explores an approach to how web browsers can inform its users about the web tracking technique Fingerprinting, and through the concept presentation of this approach see: what key key aspects of visual aesthetics that affects the users experience when being informed; and to what extent differences in technological interest and knowledge affect users reception of Fingerprinting information, and the implementation implications the differences leads to. For this purpose a high fidelity prototype was created to: represent the concept of web browsers having integrated educational pages meant to inform its users on topics such as Fingerprinting, and to; be used in a user test. The results showed: a lack of knowledge on the existence of Fingerprinting; that differences in technological interest and knowledge among users affected what aspects of visual aesthetics they valued; and that those with less technological interest and knowledge to a higher degree had their attitudes towards Internet Privacy affected by the prototype’s information. This thesis explores Virtual Reality (VR) as a digital medium for teaching in a professional context. In collaboration with ABB, a pioneering technology leader, the thesis questions whether VR could be the future medium for training ABB service personnel. The research discusses how you can design for VR, by drawing parallels to traditional mediums; Moreover, the research covers insights into the ABB education and VR explorations. Three experience prototypes were designed as the final concept. These experience prototypes aim to highlight educational use cases through VR, covering collaborative work, safety guidelines and various utilities. The goal of the final experience prototypes is to engage potential users and designers in a dialog concerning VR as an educational medium of the future.

Developing an Intuitive Livestreaming Scheduling Experience for Live-streamersMalmedal, Viktor January 2022 (has links)
Most people are used to recording videos on their mobile phones. However, becoming a streamer is another step further in complexity. This thesis evaluates how a streaming scheduling system can be developed to enhance the usability. It goes from idea to finished system using a design-build-test approach. To accomplish the objective the project uses three phases (research, design-build-test, and final prototype) to investigate how to build a streaming scheduling system for users lacking technical proficiency. A finalized prototype was built in the design-build-test phase, based on findings in the research phase. After the prototype was finalized, it got implemented and tested on Kvix streaming platform. The final hi-fi prototype was tested using an online questionnaire, consisting of a system usability scale and open-ended questions. The final proposed solution had a satisfaction score of 82.81 (grade A) with a probability of 70% on the system usability scale which indicates that it is effective, efficient and satisfactory.

Målet med detta praktiska examensarbete var att ta fram ett färdigt förslag på en ny startsida åt en idrottsorganisation för dess webbplats byggd på WordPress. Detta har åstadkommits genom att ha analyserat den befintliga startsidan samt fyra utomstående idrottsorganisationers webbplatsers startsidor. Analysen resulterade i en Low-Fidelity Wireframe över flödet på den nya startsidan, samt en hårdkodad High-Fidelity Prototyp. Det hela mynnade ut i ett WordPress Child-tema till idrottsorganisationens webbplats befintliga Parent-tema som var väl anpassad efter idrottsorganisationens önskemål och krav, samt byggd med responsivitet i åtanke för att möta den växande skara besökare på mobila enheter. / The goal with this practical thesis was to develop a finished proposal of a new home page to a sport organization for its website built on WordPress. This has been achieved by analyzing the existing home page, as well as the home page of four external sports organization’s websites. The analysis resulted in a Low-Fidelity Wireframe showing the main flow of the new home page, as well as a hard coded High-Fidelity Prototype. It all resulted in a WordPress Child-theme to the existing Parent-theme for the sport organization’s website that was well adapted to the organization’s wishes and demands, and built with responsive web design in mind to meet the growing group of visitors on mobile devices.

What are pedestrian attitudes towards driverless vehicles that have no human driver? In this paper, we use virtual reality to simulate a virtual scene where pedestrians interact with driverless vehicles. This was an exploratory study where 15 users encounter a driverless vehicle at a crosswalk in the virtual scene. Data was collected in the form of video and audio recordings, semi-structured interviews and participant sketches to explain the crosswalk scenes they experience. An interaction design framework for vehicle-pedestrian interaction in an autonomous vehicle has been suggested which can be used to design and model driverless vehicle behaviour before the autonomous vehicle technology is deployed widely. / Vad är fotgängares inställning till förare utan fordon som inte har någon mänsklig förare? I det här dokumentet använder vi virtuell verklighet för att simulera en virtuell scen där fotgängare interagerar med förare utan bil. Det här var en undersökande studie där 15 användare möter ett förarefritt fordon vid en korsning i den virtuella scenen. Uppgifterna samlades i form av video- och ljudinspelningar, halvstrukturerade intervjuer och deltagarskisser för att förklara de övergripande scenerna de upplever. We set out to create a general framework which designers and developers can use as a foundation and testing ground for their digital products in the field of user experience. The methods used during the thesis include interviews, literature studies, user testing, case studies, personas, prototyping, and more. The results created are primarily user experience guidelines packaged in a Theoretical Framework, user testing conclusions, along with suggestions on improving the current Lego Star Wars: Force Builders application, a few in the form of prototypes.

O design de interação é uma disciplina de design relativamente nova que pode ser compreendida como o design dos aspectos subjetivos e qualitativos de tudo o que é digital e também interativo. Já o esboço é uma prática muito comum nas disciplinas de design e consiste em um tipo de desenho feito à mão no papel para testar alternativas e comunicá-las para outros profissionais. O design de interação traz novos desafios para a prática de esboços, pois além das telas é necessário representar as ações do usuário e as modificações do sistema ao longo do tempo. Um levantamento da situação atual mostra que as técnicas que existem apresentam limitações importantes e que o assunto ainda é pouco explorado. Portanto o objetivo deste trabalho foi procurar aprimorar os esboços no design de interação, com quatro linhas de ação: analisar as especificidades da prática de esboços no design de interação para compreender as oportunidades de melhoria; desenvolver uma técnica, a ActionSketch, para buscar aproveitar estas oportunidades; verificar se a ActionSketch auxilia no processo de fazer esboços no design de interação; analisar o uso da técnica para procurar compreender como auxilia ou não o processo. Para atingir estes objetivos, adotamos o plano de ação descrito a seguir. Realizamos uma extensa revisão da literatura. Desenvolvemos propostas de técnicas e as refinamos através de iterações de exercícios e de entrevistas com profissionais. Apresentamos a ActionSketch em oficinas para grupos de profissionais da área, onde coletamos resultados do uso da técnica para em seguida analisá-los. A versão da técnica utilizada neste trabalho (v0.8) é composta por quatro partes: quadros, cores, símbolos e regras. Os quadros são uma forma para lidar com a questão temporal, as cores buscam separar as ações do usuário e do sistema, os símbolos são notações para deixar o desenho mais ágil e as regras são boas práticas para orientar o uso da técnica. Esta versão foi apresentada para 24 profissionais em quatro oficinas, seguidas de um período de uso continuado de 18 dias em média e fechado com entrevistas individuais para coletar comentários. Para atingir nosso objetivos a análise dos dados foi feita em dois níveis: um nível mais pragmático, para avaliar a adequação da técnica na sua aplicação prática, e um outro nível mais conceitual, onde pudemos investigar os aspectos mais gerais da prática de esboços, com foco no design de interação. De maneira sucinta os resultados obtidos indicam que a ActionSketch: auxilia o processo cognitivo; facilita a comunicação quando ao menos um designer conhece a técnica; pode ser modificada ou aplicada parcialmente; tem um aprendizado inicial rápido, que pode evoluir de maneira modular; é particularmente adequada para detalhes da interação. Em termos práticos a técnica se mostrou suficientemente adequada para uso e apontou possíveis melhorias. O trabalho também aponta algumas direções futuras, como uma nova versão da ActionSketch e sua divulgação online de maneira modular e colaborativa. / Interaction design is a relatively new discipline which can be understood as the design of the subjective and qualitative aspects of everything that is both digital and interactive. Sketching is a common practice in design and consists of freehand drawings made on paper to test alternatives and communicate them to other professionals. Interaction design brings new challenges to the practice of sketches, because of the need to represent the interaction as well as the visual layout of the interface. A survey of current practices shows significant limitations and that the subject is still little explored. Therefore the aim of this work was to improve sketching in interaction design, with four lines of action: to analyze the specifics of practice in interaction design sketches to understand the opportunities for improvement; to develop a technique, called ActionSketch, to try to take advantage of these opportunities; to verify if ActionSketch improves the process of sketching in interaction design; to analyze the use of the technique to try to identify how it helps or hinders the process. To achieve these objectives, we adopted the following plan of action. We conducted an extensive literature review. We developed proposals of the technique and refined them through iterations of exercises and interviews with professionals. We then presented ActionSketch in workshops for groups of professionals, from where we collected the results. The version of the technique used in this work (v0.8) consists of four parts: frames, colors, symbols and rules. Frames are a way to deal with the question of representing time, the colors try to evidence the user and system actions, symbols are notations to improve the speed of drawing and rules are good practices that guide the use of the technique. This version was presented to 24 professionals in four workshops, followed by a period of continuous use of 18 days on average and closed with individual interviews to gather feedback. To achieve our objective data analysis was done on two levels: a more pragmatic level, to assess the adequacy of the technique in practical application, and another more conceptual level, where we investigate the more general aspects of the practice of sketches, with focus on interaction design. Briefly the results obtained indicate that ActionSketch: assists the cognitive process; facilitates communication when at least one designer knows the technique; may be modified or partially applied; has a smooth learning curve, which can evolve in a modular way; is particularly adequate for details of the interaction. In practical terms the technique seemed adequate enough for use and indicated some points for improvement. In the theoretical aspect we could verify the importance of representing the interaction in sketches, which brought many benefits to the process. The study also points to some interesting future directions, such as a new version of ActionSketch and the creation of a collaborative site for it\'s publication.

Designing experiences for virtual reality, in virtual reality : A design process evaluation / Att designa upplevelser för Virtual Reality, i Virtual Reality : En utvärdering av designprocessenBergvik, David January 2017 (has links)
Creating immersive experiences for virtual reality (VR) presents new design opportunities and challenges that do not appear when creating experiences on a screen. Creating prototypes and exploring concepts in VR is today limited to professionals with previous knowledge in 3D application development, and testing 3D experiences requires the usage of an Head-Mounted Display (HMD), which forces professionals to switch medium from the computer to an HMD. With new advances in this field, there have to be new solutions to these challenges. The goal of this thesis is to explore how VR technology can be utilized in the experience design process for VR. This is achieved through a literature study and conducting expert interviews, followed by a hardware evaluation of different HMDs and concept creation using rapid prototyping. From the interviews, a number of issues could be identified that correlates with the research from the literature study. Based on these findings, two phases were identified as suitable for further improvements; Concept prototyping and testing/tweaking of a created experience. Lo-fi and hi-fi prototypes of a virtual design tool were developed for HTC Vive and Google Daydream, which were selected based on the hardware evaluation. The prototypes are designed and developed, then tested using a Wizard of Oz approach. The purpose of the prototypes is to solve some of the issues when designing immersive experiences for HMDs in the suitable experience design phases that were identified by analyzing the interview results. An interactive testing suite for HTC Vive was developed for testing and evaluation of the final prototype, to verify the validity of the concept. Using Virtual Reality as a medium for designing virtual experiences is a promising way of solving current issues within this technological field that are identified in this thesis. Tools for object creation and manipulation will aid professionals when exploring new concepts as well as editing and testing existing immersive experiences. Furthermore, using a Wizard of Oz approach to test VR prototypes significantly improves the prototype quality without compromising the user experience in this medium.
