<p>Ett väl fungerande nätverk kan hjälpa företag att förbättra sin produktivitet och skapa möjligheter till affärer. Why this proposal makes sense... The aim of this project is to research the relationship between a mosque and the functions of a community center. It is located between Tensta and Rinkeby, two suburbs in the north of Stockholm. I believe that the two areas can gain a lot by a shared community center due to both positive and negative similarities. The proximity to Järvafältet and Kista is a great plus in the equation. Kista is another suburb in the Järva area and it has been a huge success with regards to education, entrepreneurship and the IT-industry that re- sides there. My goal was to create a contemporary mosque that stays true to Islamic architectural concepts while I develop a new aesthetic language for the spaces that a mosque requires. How can we use the mosque as an attracting catalyst in order to reach out to the inhabitants in these areas? A lot of people in Järva have roots in other parts of the world. There are a lot of vibrant communities from all over the world in Tensta and Rinkeby. People have great respect for faith and religious matters and consider it to be a major part of their identity. What spaces can a mosque share with the community center for opti- mal use and convenience? My proposal takes into consideration that a mosque has a limited num- ber of days during the year when the worshippers need all the space that they can get. I have therefore proposed to put the mosque next to the sports hall so that the sports hall can be used for prayer and spiritual activities during special events such as the month of Ramadan and Friday prayers. When the sports hall is not used by the mosque it goes back to being just a regular sports hall with an intricate roof. What makes it a community center? To make the project more compelling I have added other functions in order to address the needs and wishes of the inhabitants. There is also a library, a food court, lecture hall/cinema, offices, conference rooms, seminar rooms and a class room.

Kista Science City har länge varit känt som Sveriges Silicon Valley, ett område fyllt med techjättar och ICT-företag, men under den senaste tiden har detta försvunnit. Idag präglas området av en hög vakansgrad med en stor del kontorsfastigheter, vilket tillsammans med en dålig upplevd trygghet har resulterat i begränsad aktivitet på kvällar och helger. Trots detta finns det hopp för Kista Science City och många fastighetsbolag ser möjligheter att göra om området med olika insatser. Syftet med studien är att konkretisera vilka faktorer som har lett till att området ser ut som det gör idag och vilka åtgärder som kan användas för att göra Kista Science City mer levande. Detta har gjorts med hjälp av en kvalitativ studie med nio intervjuer av relevanta fastighetsägare och hyresgäster inblandade i området.  Det flera anledningar till varför Kista Science City har bristande aktivitet, bland annat de unika krav som varje hyresgäst har, den slutna natur som finns i området, och den upplevda tryggheten. Däremot har det identifierats flera åtgärder som kan användas för att göra Kista Science City ett attraktivt stadsområde igen och skapa en levande miljö. Detta kan göras genom att exempelvis attrahera nya stora internationella aktörer eller att öppna upp för flera coworkingytor. Huvudrekommendationen är att göra området till en blandstad, där man integrerar mat och restaurangliv, företag, bostäder och sociala ytor. Dessa åtgärder måste även planeras hållbart för att undvika ett övermodigt beteendemönster som fastighetsbolag. Potentiell vidareforskning är att kolla på de potentiella ekonomiska och sociala fördelarna med att göra området attraktivt och kolla på hur arbetandet med social hållbarhet kan hjälpa företag vinstmaximera. Ytterligare vidareforskning kan vara vilka åtgärder som kan göras på enskilda byggnader för att göra de attraktiva. / Kista Science City has long been known as Sweden’s Silicon Valley, an area filled with tech giants and ICT companies. However, in recent time, this narrative has faded away. Today, the area is filled with office buildings experiencing a high vacancy rate, and coupled with a bad perception safety, it has resulted in limited activity during evenings and weekends. Despite this there is hope for Kista Science City and many real estate companies sees possibilities to make the area attractive again with different contributions. The purpose of the study is to concretize what factors have led to Kista Science City to be what it is today and what contributions that can be taken to make it more vibrant again. This has been done through a qualitative study with 9 interviews with relevant property owners and guests who are involved in Kista Science City. There are severeal reasons to why Kista Science City has a lack of activity, these can be the unique requests that each individual tenant has, the lack of attractivity, the secluded nature the area pocesses and the perceived sense of security. However, serveral different measures have been identified that can maka Kista Science City an attractive city district again and create a vibrant environment. This can be done by, for example, attracting new major internation players or opening more coworking areas, but the key recommendation is to transform the area to a mixed-use neighborhood, where you integreate food and restaurant life, companies, housing and social spaces. These measures must also be planned sustainably to avoid an overly speculative behavior by real estate companies. Potential areas for further research include examining the potential economic and social benefits of revitalizing the area and exploring how integrating social sustainability efforts can assist businesses in maximizing profits. Additional research could investigate the measures that can be implemented on individual buildings to make them attractive.

Kista kontorsområde är ett etablerat Tech-arbetsplatsområde i norra Stockholm som upplevde sin storhetstid under 90-talet. Idag ser fastighetsägarna anledning att undersöka hur området kan utvecklas för att möta förändrade behov. Det finns flera aktörer som vill vara med i en socialt hållbar utveckling av stadsdelen.  Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka vilka visionerna för Kistas kontorsområde är, hur de större aktörerna arbetar för att förverkliga visionen samt hur förändringar för att främja social hållbarhet bidrar till att uppnå visionen. De metoder som används för att undersöka detta är intervjuer och dokumentstudier. Processerna bakom visionsframtagandet och stadsutvecklingen analyseras med hjälp av Janes Jacobs och Jan Gehls teorier kring stadsutveckling, teorier inom social hållbarhet och framtidsstudier. Den socialt hållbara stadsutvecklingen i Kista kontorsområde analyseras utifrån fem nyckelteman inom social hållbarhet: identitet, kontext, tillgänglighet, inkludering, och variation. Resultatet visar att det finns ett samarbete mellan de privata fastighetsaktörerna i syfte att skapa och kommunicera en gemensam vision för området, samt att samla och effektivisera resursanvändningen i stadsutvecklingen. Kommunen pekas ut som en viktig samarbetsaktör av de privata aktörerna i detta arbete. Aktörernas gemensamma vision av Kista är en levande och attraktiv stadsdel med blandstadskaraktär, men det saknas en konkretisering av hur denna vision skall uppnås. / Kista business district is an established tech-cluster in northern Stockholm which experienced its peak during the 90’s. Today, the real estate owners see a need to explore how the area can be developed to meet a change in needs. There are many actors who want to be part of a socially sustainable urban development of the area. The aim of the essay is to examine which visions exists for Kista business district, what challenges there are to achieve these, how the prominent real estate actors and Stockholm municipality act in order to pursue the vision, and what socially sustainable urban development in Kista business district is. The methods that have been used to research this are interviews and a document analysis. The processes behind the production of the vision and the urban development are analysed with the theoretical frameworks of urban development by Jane Jacobs and Jan Gehl, and theories within social sustainability and futures studies. The socially sustainable development of Kista business district is analysed through five key themes within social sustainability: identity, context, accessibility, inclusion, and variation. The result shows that there is a collaboration between the private real estate actors with the aim to create and communicate a united vision for the area, as well as to concentrate and make the use of resources more efficient within the urban development. In this collaboration, the municipality has been distinguished as an important actor by the real estate actors. A liveable and attractive district with mixed-use characteristics, is the shared vision of Kista business district by the actors. However, how this vision is to be accomplished has not been concretised.

I denna uppsats undersöks hur lokalbefolkningen samt tjänstemännen upplever tryggheten i området Rinkeby-Kista. Tanken är att studera trygghetsaspekten och jämföra om det finns skillnader mellan hur de boende upplever tryggheten i området och tjänstemännens upplevelser. Dessutom kommer det vara en beskrivande del av hur kommunen arbetar med trygghetsarbetet i stadsdelen. Detta görs genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med två tjänstemän och tre personer som bor i Rinkeby. Resultatet tyder på att den upplevda tryggheten ser olika ut baserat på faktorerna ålder, kön och bakgrund som kan ha påverkan på trygghetskänslan. Dessutom ser man tydligt att det finns en stor skillnad mellan hur tjänstemännen uppfattar tryggheten, vad de tycker bör prioriteras i området för att uppnå en trygg stadsmiljö, jämfört med vad befolkningen har för uppfattningar om vad som behöver prioriteras.

Detta examensprojekt handlar om att utforma en stadsdel med bostäder som lever upp till visionerna för Stockholm och Sundbyberg inför 2020 och 2030. En bilfri förort, 15 minuter med tunnelbanan från Stockholms innerstad. Alldeles intill ett känsligt naturreservat. Kompakt boende, småskalig service och platsen präglas av en känsla av närhet. De boende ska använda lite yta, röra sig till fots, cykla och nyttja offentliga rum och kollektivtrafik i största möjliga utsträckning. Men de ska kunna leva ett fullgott urbant liv utan att behöva offra den bekvämlighet som ett liv i storstadsmiljö erbjuder.

Public space, where ordinary situations and everyday life takes place, is a concept that has gone from being ignored to becoming the core of urban development. As the interest of public space is increasing, so does the critique. A critique that in Kista criticizes public space for being neglected, segregated and scary. Nevertheless, Kista is standing before several urban renewal projects aiming to be a place of mixed functions and vibrancy. However, these projects are both time-consuming and complex and will not be able to address the issues within the nearest future. By introducing temporary use of public space, ideals such as placemaking and temporary urbanism may deal with the amount of time being consumed during the planning processes of formulation, approval, adaption and implementation. It is done so by activating space through meanwhile usage. By studying places, functions and actors in Kista, the aim is to develop a method to initiate and implement the concept of temporary use of space, in accordance to the Swedish planning system. Through a literature review, a city’s function is being analyzed, definitions of public space identified and urbans ideals/ theories explored. Furthermore, two urban renewal projects are being studied, where strategic structures of how to develop temporary initiatives is analyzed. From the literature review follows a case study where interviews and observations are being conducted to gain local knowledge and professional expertise. There are both general drivers and specific features found in Kista arguing for temporary use of space, which results in a strategy and a process. The strategy is of a comprehensive approach aiming to initiate the concept of temporary use while the process is about how to implement temporary activities. To initiate and implement temporary use of space several strategic structures are suggested. The study suggests an early implementation within a larger urban renewal project, developed together with a vision and municipal plan and program. The method should be of a top-down structure, led by Kista Science City and developed by the City of Stockholm and real estate developers in Kista. The community should act as co-creators during the development and implementation of temporary activities. Space chosen for temporary used should be done so with care, in relation to knowledge of what attracts people and preconditions in Kista. The structure of the process needs to be dynamic, giving room for changes and improvements.
