På bredden, på djupet eller både och? : En studie av exhaustivity och musikvetenskapliga monografier i LIBRIS / Breadth, depth or both? : A study of exhaustivity and monographies on musicology in the Swedish National Union Catalogue LIBRIS

Hansson, Susanne January 2010 (has links)
This thesis contains an empirical study of exhaustivity in the Swedish National Union Catalogue LIBRIS. The purpose of the study is to examine if fewer numbers of indexing terms in general lead to lower exhaustivity. The study contains two parts, the first part examine the mean of indexing terms per monography in the selection, the second examines the grade of exhaustivity within three groups with a low, moderate or high number of indexing terms. The 55 randomly selected titles were graded on a scale that was created from the indexing theories of Wilfrid F. Lancaster. Results show that even though exhaustivity is on a generally high level in every group, low exhaustivity is more common in the group with fewer indexing terms and less common in the group with a higher number of indexing terms.

Besitzerstolz - Als die Bücher noch ein Exlibris hatten

Feger, Claudia 14 December 2005 (has links) (PDF)

Usability hos digitala bibliotek : En heuristisk utvärdering av LIBRIS

Oscar, Levander, Jacob, Ring January 2021 (has links)
In this study we conducted a heuristic evaluation on a user interface. It was conducted in accordance to Nielsen’s theory of heuristics. The user interface that we evaluated is that of the Swedish national library database LIBRIS. The purpose of this study was to create a knowledge base for the development of LIBRIS’s user interface. The study was conducted by using three of Nielsen’s ten usability heuristics. Visibility of system status, Match between system and the real world and Aesthetic and minimalist design. The evaluation was done by three evaluators that conducted it independently and separately from each other. All of them had prior knowledge or experience in the field of human-computer interaction. This study shows that most of the usability problems was found under the criteria Aesthetic and minimalist design. The problems found under this heuristic was also the most severe. In total 37 usability problems were found.

Fjärrlån i Sverige : dagsläget och utvecklingsmöjligheter i framtiden / Interlibrary loan in Sweden : the present situation and possibilities for development in the future

Alkstrand, Tove, Olofsson, Eva January 1996 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the possibilities for creating a national interlibraryloan system in Sweden and to see how it could be integrated into an international network .The methods used are both qualitative and quantitative. We have sent inquiries to a numberof libraries and we have interviewed keypersons in the interlibrary loan field in Sweden. We have reached the conclusion that in spite of several impediments there is a lot that speaksfor a Swedish national interlibrary loan system in the near future. A national bibliographicdatabase is already evolving.

Hur söker användare kinesiskt material i LIBRIS : 找得到吗? / How does users search for Chinese language material in LIBRIS : 找得到吗?

Svanström, Erik January 2012 (has links)
The purpose with this thesis is to research what function the National Library Catalogue of Sweden (LIBRIS) has as an information resource for Chinese language material. How is LIBRIS used as an information resource seen from the point of view of a users specific language need. This will be exemplified through an empirical survey of three user groups with different prerequisites concerning their knowledge in Chinese. Group A were beginners and had studied Chinese for one year. Group B were advanced students who were studying their third year of Chinese. Group C consisted of students with Chinese as their mother tongue. How does Swedish students who study Chinese and Chinese students, both at Lund University, search Chinese language material in LIBRIS?I gave the participants a list with eight titles of Chinese books written in Chinese characters and asked them to retrieve them in LIBRIS. Their sessions at the computer were recorded with the screen capture program iShowU. In that way I was able to study their navigation and searches very thorough. After each search session I interviewed them regarding their thoughts and feelings about the search process. My empirical study shows that there is a clear need to revise and improve the retrieval function of Chinese language material and the display of Chinese characters in the result lists and within bibliographic records. My method is based on empirical research through a set of qualitative observations and semi structured interviews. / Program: Bibliotekarie

The Poetry of Reality: Frederick Wiseman and the Theme of Time

Wahlert, Blake Jorgensen 05 1900 (has links)
Employing a textual analysis within an auteur theory framework, this thesis examines Frederick Wiseman's films At Berkeley (2013), National Gallery (2014), and Ex Libris (2017) and the different ways in which they reflect on the theme of time. The National Gallery, University of California at Berkeley, and the New York Public Library all share a fundamental common purpose: the preservation and circulation of "truth" through time. Whether it be artistic, scientific, or historical truth, these institutions act as cultural and historical safe-keepers for future generations. Wiseman explores these themes related to time and truth by juxtaposing oppositional binary motifs such as time/timelessness, progress/repetition, and reality/fiction. These are also Wiseman's most self-reflexive films, acting as a reflection on his past filmmaking career as well as a meditation on the value these films might have for future generations. Finally, Wiseman's reflection on the nature of time through these films are connected to the ideas of French philosopher Henri Bergson.

Ämnesord i Libris och virtuella bokhyllor på Goodreads : En jämförelse mellan användare och bibliotekarier med fokus på HBTQ-ungdomslitteratur / Subject headings in Libris and virtual bookshelves on Goodreads : A comparison between users and librarians with focus on LGBT young adult literature

Björklund, Linnéa, Eklöf, Ellinor January 2018 (has links)
Young LGBT people rather search for LGBT books in library catalogues privately than ask a librarian for help. But words that describe different sexualities and gender identities change rapidly, and controlled vocabularies do not, which make it difficult for members of the LGBT community to find what they are looking for when using more modern and informal terminology. We wanted to know the difference in how users in a folksonomy and librarians restricted by a controlled vocabulary describe the content of young adult LGBT literature. Who are most suitable to describe this literature? To do this we did a small comparative study using 50 randomly selected LGBT books, focusing on the LGBT subject headings in the Swedish national library system Libris and the LGBT bookshelves on the public social cataloging website Goodreads. We also wanted to know which LGBT related words can be found in SBI’s controlled vocabulary, to see what words librarians are restricted to. Conclusively both the users and the librarians, controlled vocabularies or not, used an excessive amount of synonyms. This led us to the idea of making synonyms searchable for the users, whilst librarians still use the structure of a controlled vocabulary. Users grouped books under acronyms for the LGBT community as a whole, whilst librarians rather split up the sexualities and gender identities into separates.

Användningen av HBTQI-relaterade ämnesord i svenska folkbibliotek : En analys av Libris katalog / The use of LGBTQI related descriptors in Swedish Public Libraries : An analysis of Libris catalog

Malinen, Matilda, Moberg, Viktoria January 2022 (has links)
This study focuses on LGBTQI related descriptors for fiction in Libris catalog from a knowledge organizational point of view, specifically domain analysis. It investigates how descriptors related to the LGBTQI-community are used, what different perspectives and points of views may have influenced how they are assigned, and whether it is possible to shed light on LGBTQI-certified and uncertified public libraries degrees of subject knowledge. Previous research indicates that in the absence of a guiding policy regarding intersectional collection development, libraries LGBTQI content consist mostly of representation for the white, gay, adult, male experience. A quantitative content analysis of 18 certified and 24 uncertified swedish public libraries collections showed that ”lesbian women” is the most used descriptor, but it is uncertain whether this group is the most represented one or if it is simply more visible due to the fact that it goes against the norm. The results also showed lacking representation in some areas in relation to descriptors. When it comes to certified and uncertified libraries we did not see any major differences in their work with the descriptors.

FRBRizace katalogů a databází - situace v zahraničí / FRBRization of catalogs and databases - the situation abroad

Lísková, Marie January 2017 (has links)
(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the conceptual model functional requirements for bibliographic records and its implementation or FRBRisation of library information systems abroad. The introduction of the thesis presents in brief the FRBR conceptual model and its family. The second chapter discusses the development of FRBRisation activities since the creation of the FRBR study to the present. The third chapter presents a more detailed description of the FRBRisation process and presents the benefits and challenges of these projects. In connection with this, the impact on cataloging standards and data structures is also mentioned, as well as the currently debated issue concerning the possible ways of presenting the FRBRised data. The last chapter of the diploma thesis contains analysis and comparison of two selected FRBRised systems (BORéAL union catalog and Primo discovery system), with emphasis on the means and scope of FRBR implementation and user interface.
