This research has as study object two different versions of young narrative by Lygia Bojunga: the first one is 7 Cartas e 2 Sonhos, published in 1982, with nine reproductions of paintings by Tomie Ohtake, and the second one is O Meu Amigo Pintor, published, without the illustrations, in 1987, by the publisher José Olympio republished in 2006 by Casa Lygia Bojunga, with the afterstate Para Você que Me Lê (For You Who Read Me), with information about the creative process of these two works.

Estrada Luttikhuizen, David 17 December 2008 (has links)
Humour helps us to understand and organise the world. It is an aspect in the formation of cultural identities which develops as soon as children can follow an oral narrative, and is further intensified as reading becomes a habit. Written humour displays expressive resources and semantic fields determined by the language, and contents and referents determined by social values; its code includes conventions with the reader regarding form and plot. Being a social strategy, humour evolves through time depending on the circumstances. This research focuses on literature for children and adolescents originally written in the Catalan language and published between 1904 and 2004.

This dissertation considers the contextualising in African settings of three themes addressed in youth literature of the Baptist International Publications Services (IPS). It utilises a critical methodology developed from Kraft's (1979) ten principles of communication to analyse the efforts to contextualise the themes of salvation, the Christian family and witchcraft. Chapter one discusses contextualisation and presents a critical methodology based on Kraft's ( 1979) principles of communication. Chapter two is an historical background study of the International Publications Services. Chapters three, four and five use the critical methodology developed in chapter one to examine the themes of salvation, the Christian family and witchcraft respectively, as found in IPS youth literature. [en] READER S VISUAL EDUCATION THROUGH THE LENS OF DESIGN IN READING: BOOKS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE / [pt] A FORMAÇÃO VISUAL DO LEITOR POR MEIO DO DESIGN NA LEITURA: LIVROS PARA CRIANÇAS E JOVENS

MAIRA GONCALVES LACERDA 09 July 2018 (has links)
[en] Knowing how to handle, understand and build meanings from images is a paramount task for readers in contemporary society, as it is immersed in multimodality. However, in opposition to written culture, there are no specific teaching mechanisms for reader s visual education at schools. Acknowledging that most literature books for children and young people find a conducive environment for poetry and fiction fruition in the verbal-visual relationship, this research aims to stablish a connection between Design, present in literature books for children and young people sealed by public policies, and the process of reader s visual education. For that, we conducted a graphic analysis of literary books selected by Programa Nacional Biblioteca da Escola (PNBE) and organized an overview of their graphic complexity progression, relating the graphic aspects they present to reader s school development in pre-, elementary, middle and high school. In this process, we were able to perceive that, although the collections comprised books whose projects were consisted with the concept of Design in Reading, they did not present a progression of visual complexity. On the contrary, as young readers advanced on their schooling and understanding of textual content, graphic and image content tended to reduce in number and to become simpler. Thus, this research proposes interventions for changing this scenario based on actions targeted at reading mediators, among them, designers themselves. This would enable children and young people to become empowered readers in verbal-visual meaning-making and reach the condition of critical individuals and transformation agents in the ideological social systems that surround them.

Silva, Carla Damas 23 May 2016 (has links)
In our work, we analyze some works of Bartolomeu Campos de Queirós that compose the “autobiographical cycle”, especially those ones that bring the image of father’s absence/presence, the relationship between life and writing, as well as the father’s figurations and his intermediates and substitutes. We especially investigated the aspect of repetition about how the family relations are articulated, highlighting those ones that happen between father and son and that appear in these texts. This problematic interested us as a research object, a priori, because the works of Bartholomeu Campos de Queirós are an exponent of literature for children field, as far as they show that the childhood is not always “colorful”, happy and perfect as several productions supposedly made “for children” seek to have us believe. In addition, the selected texts that have an autobiographical characteristic and put the issue of child suffering because of the father’s absence are configured as a very rich corpus for studies related to the relation between life/work and investigations in the dialogue between Literature and Psychoanalysis. These aspects will permit us to understand why the pain of missing father be repetitive and insistent in these books. Thus, we problematize, by the selected works for this study, the concept of literature for children and young people and the notion of literary reading. We also analyzed in the “statements” given by the author the relationship between life and writing and we investigated, based on psychoanalytic studies, the literary writing as a possibility of both unconscious development of memory marked by the father’s absence – remedy – as of a perpetuation of this same conflict – poison. Furthermore, we analyzed how the relationship between son and father are processed considering the mother’s absence, since the works that have this person’s presence, she seems to mediate such relationships in a certain way. / Dissertação (Mestrado)
