TITLE: Strategic plan of association Vraťme dětem pohyb, z.s. PROBLEM: The diploma thesis examines the strategic management of a nonprofit sport organization, respectively long-term planning of association Vraťme dětem pohyb, z.s. The association Vraťme dětem pohyb, z.s. currently cooperates with organization Gorila MMA CLUB, s.r.o. These emerging sports organizations were separated from the original associaton PriMMAt Gym Praha, z.s. The diploma thesis therefore contributes to the solution of current problem and its results will be practically usable. Its main purpose is a publicly beneficial aktivity, namely the organization and operation of leisure activities aimed at children and youth. Från- och närvaroplanering för Scania Sverige / Work Attendance Planning for Scania Company in Sweden

Detta examensarbete gjordes i två syften, att ge Scania teoretiskt underlag till en ny teknik för hantering av personalens från och närvaroplanering, samt implementera den nya tekniken. Scanias dåvarande lösning utnyttjades genom att använda olika Excel-ark, dessa har uppfattats som ineffektiva och krångliga att arbeta med. Detta har lett till en hel del extra administrativt arbete och behovet av en ny lösning definierades till ett examensarbete. Den initiala fasen av projektet handlade om att förstå relevanta processer rörande från och närvaroplanering. Allt eftersom processerna var förstådda definierades krav på den nya lösningen genom kvalitativa metoder och intervjuer med respondenter av olika befattningar från verksamheten. Kraven som erhölls från intervjuerna visade sig vara relativt konsistenta och fastställdes i en kravspecifikation. Kravspecifikationen användes för att utvärdera olika lösningar som valts ut från marknadens utbud. Vidare genomfördes en make or buy analys som gjorde det möjligt att avgöra om lösningen skulle köpas in eller utvecklas internt. Efter interna diskussioner inom Scania, där resultaten från utvärderingen och make or buy analysen analyserades, fattades beslutet att den nya lösningen skulle byggas i en Microsoft SharePoint miljö. Miljön var redan tillgänglig för Scania och implementeringen gjordes i form av en pilotimplementering. Två grupper från Scanias verksamhet fick en förfrågan om de ville agera piloter, i syfte att utvärdera lösningen efter styrkor, svagheter och önskad funktionalitet. Pilotfasen är planerad att starta i början av september 2013. / This thesis was done with two-fold purpose, to give Scania a theoretical base for a new technology for management of the personnel presence and absence planning and to implement this new technology. Scanias former solution was utilized by using different Excel sheets and these have been perceived as inefficient and cumbersome to work with. This has led to a lot of additional administrative work and the need for a new solution was defined to this thesis. The initial phase of the project focused on understanding the relevant processes related to the presence and absence planning. When the processes were well understood, requirements on the new system were captured through qualitative methods and interviews with respondents of different positions from the enterprise. The requirements obtained from the interviews proved to be relatively consistent and was defined in a requirement specification. These requirements were used to evaluate different solutions chosen from the commercial stock. In addition, a make or buy analysis were created and made it possible to determine whether the solution would be bought or developed internally. After internal discussions within Scania, where the results from the alternative solution evaluation and the make or buy analysis was considered, it was decided that the new solution would be built in a Microsoft SharePoint environment. The environment was already available for Scania and the implementation was done as a pilot implementation. Two groups from Scanias enterprise was asked to act pilots, in order to evaluate the solution by strengths, weaknesses and desired functionalities. The pilot phase is planned to start in early September 2013.

Strategic model for the assessment ofbusiness opportunities: A case study in an electrical equipment manufacturer

This study suggests a model for the assessment and development of new businessideas. The scope of the thesis is on the early stages of the model, specifically on the firsttwo steps which refer to screening and identification of global trends in the electricitymarket and the assessment and selection of business opportunities. The framework isan adaptation of portfolio management methodologies and multi-criteria group decisionmodels. The study was developed and applied through a case study in Ormazabal, anelectrical equipment manufacturer and supplier of power network solutions.There are three main theoretical contributions in this work. First, it outlines a five-stepmodel for the development of business opportunities. Second, it suggests a guide forscreening the macro-environment and for the identification of global trends in theelectricity market and finally, it provides a new approach to the directional policy matrixfor the assessment and selection of business ideas. The proposed model has beentested in a real case and the results reveal a practical approach to strategic decisionsbased on team collaboration and group discussion.

Framtidsstudier i stora organisationers långsiktiga planering : analysmodell och fallstudier

People use a variety of means to orient themselves towards the future. A more organised approach to handling the future known as "futures studies" is often used in a variety of contexts including long-term planning within large organisations. In the effort to enhance the quality of such studies, there have been arguments for better methods (which makes sense), but methods may not be the most important aspect in the production of futures studies. Greater theoretical awareness in the substantive questions upon which the study is based is more important. To that end, the intent of this dissertation is to infuse a keener awareness of fundamental assumptions in futures studies and contribute to increasing their quality. One objective of the dissertation is to formulate a method or procedure to analyse the futures studies of large organisations, apply it to two empirical cases and thereafter analyse its strengths and weaknesses. The method I discuss and develop extensively in this work consists of an analytical framework that focuses on three aspects of each future study: its architecture, its relationship to a few of the key future issues of our time and its assumptions regarding our views on society, humanity and technology. A second objective is to systematically study future documents from two large organisations and attempt to clarify motives, orientation, methodology and distinguishing characteristics in their future processes. The cases I have chosen are the Swedish Armed Forces and the telecommunications company Ericsson, which were both in a period of transition around the mid 1990s. The dissertation shows how the method has been used to bring to the fore and clarify central ideas in futures studies, identify ambiguities and fuzzy thinking and to show and expose more covert assumptions. The analysis also illustrates that certain aspects of the model have been observed in the empirical material, other ideas are found to a lesser extent and certain perspectives are entirely absent. The paper stresses that the model developed has both strengths and weaknesses, but the overall assessment is that it was well-balanced and maintains appropriate depth in relation to desired efficiency. The study shows that the analytical method is relevant and adequate to understand and describe the direction and content of futures studies and in so doing enhance their quality.

Långsiktig planering i projekt med agila metoder : En fallstudie på ett IT-företag

Companies are constantly challenged to maintain but also to expand their market position. According to a study it’s problematic to carry out successful IT-projects. Dependencies, coordination and long term planning are three factors which has shown are difficult to master in bigger projects. The aim with the study is to in- vestigate how these aspects work in one case, through a case study on an IT com- pany. The goal is to contribute with research to the subject of long term planning in IT-projects where agile methods usually is used today. Previous research and theories as project management, agile project management, planning methods, scaling methods, coordination methods and change management are used as a base for the study. An exploratory qualitative study has been performed at the case company, the generated result composes of interviews with personnel from the company. The result showed how the methods and theories where used in the case company mainly focusing on long-term planning and workflows. Generally, the same thoughts where shared among the personnel, but because of the open questions the responder got encouraged to elaborate and explain their opinion leading to new information and aspects even when they agreed on the topic. When analyzing the result, I show that a clear framework, implementing of sim- ple work methods and the project management were all important to be able to conduct long-term planning and handle dependencies in projects. The conclusion was to implement the scaling method SAFe but also to use coordination methods. An important aspect is to include change management processes and theories when implementing or changing something. Further studies suggest that research in this article should be carried out on more companies and studies if the imple- mentation of the agila scaling method SAFe has a positive effect in a company. / Varje dag utmanas företag för att bibehålla men även utöka deras marknadspo- sition. Enligt en studie så är det problematiskt att genomföra lyckade IT-projekt. Beroenden, koordinering och långsiktig planering är tre faktorer som det visat sig vara svårt med i större projekt. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur dessa aspekter fungerar på ett visst fall, genom en fallstudie på ett IT-företag. Målet är att kunna bidra med forskning till ämnet gällande långsiktig planering i IT-pro- jekt där agila metoder vanligtvis idag används. Tidigare forskning och teorier som projektledning, agil projektledning, planeringsmetoder, skalningsmetoder, koordineringsmetoder samt förändringsledning ligger till grund för studien. En explorativ kvalitativ studie har genomförts på fallföretaget. Det genererade re- sultatet baseras på intervjuer med personal på företaget. Resultatet visade hur det fungerade på fallföretaget gällande långsiktig planering och arbetssätt. I stora drag framfördes liknande tankar och åsikter, men då de ställda frågorna var öppet ställda så framkom även olika nyanser och delar från de olika respon- denterna. Analysen av resultatet visade att tydligare ramverk, implementering av arbetssätt och ledning var viktiga för att kunna planera långsiktigt och han- tera beroenden. Slutsatsen som drogs var att implementera skalningsmetoden SAFe men också använda sig av koordineringsmetoder. En viktig aspekt att inte förglömma är även förändringsarbetet vid införandet eller förändring av något. För vidare forskning skulle studien kunna göras på fler företag och även en stu- die på implementeringen av den agila skalningsmetoden SAFe skulle kunna gö- ras för att se om det skulle ge en positiv effekt för företaget.
