Hertz, Anaelle 05 1900 (has links)
In order to describe the vibrations inside a diatomic molecule, the Morse potential is a better approximation than the harmonic oscillator system. Thus, based on the definition of the coherent states given in the context of the harmonic oscillator, the first part of this work suggests a construction for the squeezed coherent states of the Morse potential. Two types of states will be constructed and their diverse properties will be studied with special attention to the trajectories and dispersions in order to confirm their quasi-classicity. The second part of this work proposes to insert those two types of Morse squeezed coherent states in a beam splitter in order to introduce a new way of creating entanglement. This entanglement will be measured by the linear entropy and we will study the dependence with the coherence and squeezing parameters.

Quasi-isometries between hyperbolic metric spaces, quantitative aspects / Quasi-isométries entre espaces métriques hyperboliques, aspects quantitatifs

Shchur, Vladimir 08 July 2013 (has links)
In this thesis we discuss possible ways to give quantitative measurement for two spaces not being quasi-isometric. From this quantitative point of view, we reconsider the definition of quasi-isometries and propose a notion of ``quasi-isometric distortion growth'' between two metric spaces. We revise our article [32] where an optimal upper-bound for Morse Lemma is given, together with the dual variant which we call Anti-Morse Lemma, and their applications.Next, we focus on lower bounds on quasi-isometric distortion growth for hyperbolic metric spaces. In this class, $L^p$-cohomology spaces provides useful quasi-isometry invariants and Poincar\'e constants of balls are their quantitative incarnation. We study how Poincar\'e constants are transported by quasi-isometries. For this, we introduce the notion of a cross-kernel. We calculate Poincar\'e constants for locally homogeneous metrics of the form $dt^2+\sum_ie^dx_i^2$, and give a lower bound on quasi-isometric distortion growth among such spaces. This allows us to give examples of different quasi-isometric distortion growths, including a sublinear one (logarithmic).

Sistemas gradientes, decomposição de Morse e funções de Lyapunov sob perturbação / Gradient systems, Morse decomposition and Lyapunov functions under pertubation

Costa, Éder Rítis Aragão 14 March 2012 (has links)
In this work we investigated the existence of a Lyapunov function associated to a gradient-like system, semigroups or evolution processes. For that, a detailed study of Morse theory plays a central role. As the main consequence of this study we obtain the stability of gradient systems under perturbation (autonomous or not). The applicability of the abstract results discussed here is exemplified by studying systems of differential equations in Banach spaces with unilateral coupling

Études des solutions de quelques équations aux dérivées partielles non linéaires via l'indice de Morse / Study of solutions of some nonlinear partial differential equations via the Morse index

Mtiri, Foued 25 November 2016 (has links)
The main concern of this thesis deals with the study of solutions of several elliptic partial differential equations via the Morse index, including the stable solutions, i.e. when the Morse index is zero. The thesis has two independent parts. In the first part, under suplinear and subcritical assumptions on f, we establish firstly some explicit estimation for the L1 norms of solutions to -Δu = f(u) avec u = 0 on the boundary, via its Morse index. We propose an approach more transparent and easier than the work of Yang [1998], which allow us to treat some nonlinearities very close to the critical growth. These results motivated us to consider the polyharmonic equations (-Δ)ku = f(x; u) with especially k = 2 and 3. With the hypothesis on f similar to Yang [1998] and appropriate boundary conditions, we obtain for the _rst time some explicit estimations of solution via its Morse index, for the polyharmonic equations. In the second part, we consider a Lane-Emden system -Δu = ρ(x)vp; -Δv = ρ(x)u_; u; v > 0; in RN; with 1 < p< θ and a radial positive weight ρ. We prove the non-existence of stable solution in small dimension case. Our results improve the previous works Cowan & Fazly [2012]; Fazly [2012]; Hu [2015], especially we prove some general Liouville type results for stable solutions in small dimension which hold true for any 1 < ρ min(4 3 ; θ)

Continuidade de atratores para sistemas dinâmicos: decomposição de Morse, equi-atração e domínios ilimitados / Continuity of attractors for dynamical systems: Morse decompositions, equiattraction and unbounded domains

Costa, Henrique Barbosa da 28 July 2016 (has links)
In this work we study assimptotic properties of parabolic problems under some different view of points, particularlly interested in the stability properties of the systems. We study equi-attraction in the non autonomous case using skew-product semiflows, which transform the non autonomous dynamical system into a autonomous one in a convenient phase space. For multivalued semiflows, in which the semiflow is a set valued function, we develop the Morse decomposition and show its equivalence with admiting a Lyapunov funcional, wich is a important result on the semigroup theory. We also study the continuity of the asymptotic dynamic for a parabolic problem in an unbouded domain when we approach it by bounded ones.

Regularity at infinity and global fibrations of real algebraic maps / Regularidade no infinito e fibrações globais de aplicações algébricas reais

Dias, Luis Renato Gonçalves 28 February 2013 (has links)
Let f : \'K POT. \' be a \'C POT. 2\' semi-algebraic mapping for K = R and a polynomial mapping for K = C. It is well-known that f is a locally trivial topological fibration over the complement of the bifurcation set B(f), also called atypical set. In this work, we consider the notion of t-regularity and \'ho E\'-regularity to study the bifurcation set of semi-algebraic mappings f : \'R POT. n\' \'ARROW\' \'R POT. p\' and polynomial mappings f : \'C POT. n\' \'ARROW\' \'C POT. p\'. We show that t-regularity is equivalent to regularity conditions at infinity which have been used by Rabier (1997), Gaffney (1999), Kurdyka, Orro and Simon (2000) and Jelonek (2003) in order to control the asymptotic behaviour of mappings. In addition, we prove that t-regularity implies \'ho E\'-regularity. The \'ho E\'-regularity enables one to define the set of asymptotic non \'ho E\'-regular values S(f) \'This contained\' \' K POT. p\', and the set \'A IND. \'ho E\'\' := f(Singf) U S(f). For \'C POT. 2\' semi-algebraic mappings f : \'R POT. n\' ARROW \' \'R POT. p\' and polynomial mappings f : \'C POT. n\' \'ARROW\' \'C POT. p\', based on a partial Thom stratification at infinity, we rove that S(f) and \'A IND. ho E\' are closed real semi-algebraic sets of dimension at most p - 1 (real dimension at most 2p - 2, for f : \'C POT. n\' \'ARROW\' \'C POT. p\'). Moreover, based on a new fibration theorem at infinity, i.e. holding in the complement of a sufficiently large ball, we obtain B(f) \'this contained\' \'A IND. ho E\'. We study two special classes of polynomial mappings f : \'R POT. n\' \"ARROW\' \'R POT. p\', the class of fair polynomial mappings and the class of Newton non-degenerate polynomial mappings. For fair polynomial mappings, we give an interpretation of t-regularity in terms of integral closure of modules, which is a real counterpart of Gaffney\'s result (1999). For non-degenerate polynomial mappings, we obtain an approximation for B(f) through a set which depends on the Newton polyhedron of f (results like this have been obtained by Némethi and Zaharia (1990) for polynomial functions f : \'C POT. n\' \'ARROW\' C and recently for mixed polynomial functions by Chen and Tibar (2012)). To finish, we discuss some simple consequences of our work: the equivalence t regularity Rabier (equivalently Gaffney, Kuo-KOS, Jelonek) condition for mappings f : X \'ARROW\' \'K POT. p\', where X \'this contained\' \'K POT. n\' is a smooth ane variety; the problem of bijectivity of semi-algebraic mappings; and a formula to compute the Euler characteristic of regular fibres of polynomial mappings f : \'R POT. n\' \'AROOW\' \'R POT. n-1\'. The above results are also extensions of some results obtained, for polynomial functions f : \'K POT. n\' \'ARROW K, by Némethi and Zaharia (1990), Siersma and Tibar (1995), Paunescu and Zaharia (1997), Parusinski (1995) and Tibar (1998). [en] GEOMETRIC DISCRETE MORSE COMPLEXES / [pt] COMPLEXOS DE MORSE DISCRETOS E GEOMÉTRICOS

THOMAS LEWINER 26 October 2005 (has links)
. . / [en] Differential geometry provides an intuitive way of understanding smooth objects in the space. However, with the evolution of geometric modeling by computer, this tool became both necessary and difficult to transpose to the discrete setting. The power of Morse theory relies on the link it created between differential topology and geometry. Starting from a combinatorial point of view, Forman´s discrete Morse theory relates rigorously discrete objects to their topology, opening Morse theory to discrete structures. This work proposes a constructive definition of geometric discrete Morse functions and their corresponding discrete Morse-Smale complexes, where the geometry is defined as a smooth function sampled on the vertices of the discrete structure. This construction required some homology computations that turned out to be a significant improvement over existing methods by itself. The resulting Morse-Smale decomposition can then be efficiently computed, and used for applications to persistence computation, Reeb graph generation, noise removal. . .
