Os dados foram analisados no programa Statistical Package for the Social Scienses (SPSS) versão 15.0. / Introduction: Cervical cancer is an important public health problem and is the fourth most frequently diagnosed form of cancer among women worldwide. Through therapeutic advances in treating this disease, women affected by it have longer survival. However, the secondary effects from the treatments are detrimental to their quality of life and compromise their sexual activity. Objective: To describe the quality of life and sexual activity of women undergoing treatment for cervical cancer. Methods: This was an exploratory study with a quantitative approach, on 46 women who underwent surgical, chemotherapeutic and radiotherapeutic treatment at Hospital das Clínicas, Pernambuco. Three instruments were used: one to characterize the participants (socioeconomic characterization, clinical issues related to sexual life and life habits); the WHOQOL-bref questionnaire to evaluate quality of life; and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) to evaluate sexual function. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software, version 15.0. Descriptive analysis was performed on the variables. The Mann-Whitney and Pearson chi-square (χ²) tests were applied in bivariate analysis. Results: The women participating in the study were predominantly of mixed skin color (n = 30; 65.22%) and unemployed (n = 20; 43.48%); started sexual activity before 18 years of age (n = 39; 84.78%) and had had more than five sexual partners (n = 19; 41.30%). The disease was mostly diagnosed at advanced stages (n = 29; 63.04%) and the main treatment was radiotherapy in association with chemotherapy (n = 28; 60.87%). There was an association (p <0.05): quality of life with socioeconomic variables (income, marital status, leisure activity) and clinical variables (type of treatment performed); And sexual activity with the type of treatment performed and staging of the disease. The domains of the FSFI most affected by the treatment were the domains of lubrication (p = 0.03) and pain (p = 0.04). Conclusion: Socioeconomic characteristics and the type of treatment influenced quality of life and sexual activity. Quality of life and aspects of sex life after treatment for cervical cancer need to be taken into consideration in clinical practice.

ALBUQUERQUE, Tereza Cristina Cavalcanti de 05 February 2018 (has links)
Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2018-08-14T14:12:11Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Tereza Cristina Cavalcanti de Albuquerque.pdf: 8612345 bytes, checksum: 63cefd3234e79440c4d81f8c47e647fe (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-14T14:12:11Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Tereza Cristina Cavalcanti de Albuquerque.pdf: 8612345 bytes, checksum: 63cefd3234e79440c4d81f8c47e647fe (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-02-05 / In today's language, several semiotic modes (verbal, visual, sonorous and gestural, among others) are integrated to construct a meaning, thus composing a multimodal text that together with advances in technology occupy more spaces each day, and among them, the space of teaching and learning of sciences. However, although there is a growing use of multimodal text, it is still not being exploited to its full potential, as teachers are often not instrumental in reading to understand and produce. Above all, in considering the eminently abstract and symbolic character of its contents, the initial formation of science teachers demands the reading and production of more contextualized multimodal texts that can generate effective and qualified actions in the teaching practice regarding the use of different modes of language. In this context, the objective of this study was to analyze how the knowledge about Multimodality inserted in the initial formation of teachers can contribute to the reading and the construction of multimodal texts for teaching about human lung breathing. In the course of this research the elective Multimodality in Science Education course was developed, offered for the undergraduate courses in Chemistry and Biological Sciences, of a Brazilian public university. The data were constructed during 11 months of work incorporated to this discipline, with a group composed by four students. The methodology that guided the present study was an adaptation of the Collaborative Research (IBIAPINA, 2008) and the data analysis employed the categories of Visual Design Grammar (KRESS and van LEEUWEN, 2006). The productions of the analyzed students were: multimodal texts produced for videotapes on pulmonary respiration; answers to the interview about the process of videotape production; video-recorded analysis of the multimodal texts related to the respiratory system and hematose used in videotapes; production of the Set of Multimodal Texts for Teaching Human Pulmonary Respiration (CTMER) and validation of CTMER in class at graduation. At the same time, the researcher analyzed the multimodal texts on lung breathing in the textbooks. The results indicate that the implementation of Multimodality knowledge in reading, evaluation and production of multimodal texts increased the capacity of representation and communication of the participants involved through the integrated use of different modes of language and enabled the construction of didactic material (CTMER) to teach the concept of human lung respiration integrated with the environment and other organic systems.

A partir daí, categorizamos duas principais religiões representadas, a saber: Cristianismo e Espiritismo.

Fernström, Torbjörn January 2017 (has links)

Positionsindikering i bilder och video för WITAS dialogsystem / Position specification in images and video for the WITAS dialog system

Lindblom, Hannes January 2004 (has links)

Eye-gaze in multimodal interactions involving children with autism spectrum disorders

Korkoakangas, Terhi Kirsi January 2012 (has links)
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that characteristically involves an impaired capacity to engage in reciprocal social interaction and to use eye-gaze for social purposes. This collection of conversation analytic studies examines naturally-occurring interactions involving Finnish children diagnosed with autism. The data consist of video-recorded interactions of four children, aged between 9-12 years, each engaged in dyadic or multiparty interactions with a range of familiar co-participants (teachers, parents, and siblings) at home, school, and music club. Comparative data from neurotypical interactions are also considered. The aim is to use conversation analysis to better understand how the children with autism interact in everyday settings. The study examines the organization of interactions as sequences of action, and how eye-gaze and other multimodal resources are involved in the orientation to and production of initiating and responsive actions (e.g. questions and answers). The analyses show (1) competencies with respect to using eye-gaze at relevant sequential environments to mobilise a response from a co-participant, and using smiling as an interactional resource while orienting to the response-implicativeness of eye-gaze; (2) displays of self-consciousness (involving averted gaze and other conduct) can occur when the participants orient to the children's non-production of a response that has been made relevant; (3) child's gaze aversion can become problematic in particular sequential locations, namely, when the child's response is noticeably absent and treated as unforthcoming; (4) how the handling of material objects can provide a resource when eliciting interactional involvement with the child. The findings indicate areas of interactional competence and show how, on some occasions, the direction of eye-gaze and body orientation can become interactionally problematic. The merits of researching naturally occurring interactions, and the prospect of incorporating a conversation analytic component as part of clinical assessments, are discussed.

“It’s Not Pixie Dust”: An Exploratory Qualitative Case Study of a School-Based Multimodal Tablet Initiative

Margarella, Erin Elizabeth 07 April 2016 (has links)
This dissertation presents findings from a qualitative case study of three English teachers representing varying levels of comfort with technology and years of teaching experience at St. Patrick Catholic High School. This research was motivated by two questions: (1) What are three literacy educators’ perceptions of a multimodal tablet initiative at a Catholic High School? (2) How is information regarding the use of iPad technology for literacy disseminated to three High School English teachers within a Catholic School system? Data was collected over a twelve-week period during the first academic year of implementation of a school-based multimodal tablet (iPad) initiative. Implementation during this time period was limited to students in their first and second year of high school. Under the direction of the initiative, teachers were tasked with utilizing the iPad as part of their daily instruction. Moreover, three Apps were highlighted for explicit use for uploading assignments and sharing content with students. Additionally, all textbooks utilized were in digital format. Data collected includes: artifacts, observations, interviews, and reflective field notes. Findings from this research indicate that all participants had positive perceptions of the tablet initiative and its promise for the future of the school and effect on student achievement. They felt, however, many areas that would support the effective implementation of the initiative were overlooked in lieu of the school remaining overly focused on maintaining its competitive edge against neighboring private schools. In essence, the school’s leadership utilized the iPads like “pixie dust”- sprinkling them around campus and hoping for an increase in achievement and digital citizenship among students without providing appropriate support and guidance for the teaching staff. Furthermore, the teachers believed the device presented new difficulties within the classroom dynamic including struggles with classroom management, academic honesty, and networking. The path of dissemination for information was convoluted with leadership members often verbally presenting conflicting expectations and information. While promising, the initiative lacked clearly articulated expectations for how teachers should integrate the device in their classrooms. Information related to the initiative was most often disseminated verbally via faculty meetings, but also uploaded within the school’s digital communication system. This digital drive was overly crowded with documents and lacked organization making locating information tedious and challenging. Given the pilot status of this implementation, the administrators did not present fully developed evaluative procedures or expectations for iPad integration creating uncertainty for teachers. These findings offer insight into the need for meaningful and individualized professional development opportunities for teachers that focus on deep interactions with multimodal capabilities prior to the onset of any initiative aiming to integrate iPad technology. Additionally, a clear path of dissemination in which expectations are written, explicit, and correlated with evaluative procedures would likely reduce confusion among teachers. Aligning the goals from all leadership members in an effort to create consistency among the information shared with staff is critical to implementing a technology initiative effectively.

Electrophysiological Investigations on the Role of Selected Serotonin Receptors and the Serotonin Transporter on Serotonin Transmission in the Rat Brain

Lecours, Maurice January 2013 (has links)
This study assessed the in vivo effects of various serotonin (5-HT) receptor modulators on 5-HT neurotransmission in the rat hippocampus. Vortioxetine, humanized-vortioxetine, and escitalopram blocked the 5-HT transporter, but similar to ipsapirone did not dampen the sensitivity of postsynaptic 5-HT1A receptors. Long-term administration of all treatments increased the tonic activation of postsynaptic 5-HT1A heteroreceptors, an effect common to all antidepressants. Vortioxetine decreased the function of the terminal 5-HT1B autoreceptor under high but not a low degree of activation, thus showing that its partial agonism led to increased 5-HT release and that long-term administration results in the desensitization of terminal 5-HT1B autoreceptors. Vortioxetine overcame the effects of 5-HT1B and 5-HT3 receptor agonists. This study was unable to determine the involvement of 5-HT7 receptor antagonism exerted by vortioxetine affects 5-HT neurotransmission. Therefore, vortioxetine would appear to exert different actions, via transporter and receptor activity, on the serotonergic system in the hippocampus, consistent with its unique pharmacological profile.
